It’s been wonderful watching it all being created. What a team!
@@patricianealfarley7150thank you!!
Guys, awesome video, but if you can tell me what exact sizes and quantities of wood i need to buy, it would make this video one of the best!
Like to finally comment. I discovered your channel before you started your beautiful ’shed’. I love Japanese maples & conifers. So discovering one of your early garden tours was wonderful. Your videos are very inspiring & informing & done with class, I also think you’re an adorable couple. I hope to see a peak at your trip to Ireland (btw those rhodies were awesome!) & I love watching you create your Japanese garden shed. I happen to be Irish & Japanese, so you could say I’m doubly interested. Living in Japan influenced my gardening & design skills. Your shed is very impressive. ☺️
I’m sure lots of people are going to discover your channel like I did & find it a nice little breath of fresh air. Thank you for that. Congratulations on your successful journey. Thanks so much for sharing. I look forward to all your new uploads, I’m hooked🍁
Thank you so so much for commenting! We have been thinking of maybe doing garden tours at different gardens we travel to - though, we're not quite sure how to approach this yet. And thanks about the shed as well - it's really starting to fit into the landscape. We can't wait to share next week's video - now that the windows are in, it's time to add Koshi! (or Koshi-do) We just finished that project and are working on the video now for next weekend - it really adds to the Japanese aesthetic to go along with all of the japanese maples & conifers. ☺
Thanks for watching - many more videos to come! We have lots of projects down the road after we finish this shed. 🙂

in your lower batten which holds the window in place add some weep holes on the lower surface as water will always collect here and rot can set in.Shed looks great, well done.

Love your garden and love what you have done with the windows! Am looking to do acrylic ( pexiglass)windows and wondered what thickness your sheets are? Great job!
Ours were fairly thin. I’d say around 1/8” if I remember correctly, could have been a bit thinner. Good luck with your window build!!
@@buildingmodern Thanks so much! You both inspired me to give acrylic a go as I wasnt sure!🙂
How thick was the acrylic? Thanks
1/8” thick 🙂
What is the R value compared to glass?
Acrylic and plexiglass have high thermal values and insulate buildings better than glass. However, if you’re wanting real insulation, I’d suggest double-paned glass over single panes plexiglass or glass. You can custom order double-paned glass from a local glass provider in most cities for not too high of a cost (much less than buying a new window).
@@buildingmodern Thank you so much.
@@gentile.enterprise No problem! If you reach out to your local glass supplier, you'll find the prices aren't too bad and the wait is maybe 2-3 weeks. For reference, the best price we've found is $17/sqft for tempered, double-paned, low-e glass (up to 49sqft in size - double the price if we go past 49sqft in one piece).
"this probably has being done before", yeah, but you guys figure out ny yourself, pretty smart, Just Saying
Ha, thanks! 🙂
