I love the way you talk to your plants, showing them gratitude and even apologizing for disrupting them. I just think that's so sweet. After all, they are are living things and they do bring us so much joy.
I only just noticed that your description includes that you make all the music for your channel yourself!!! That’s fantastic! I’ve always really enjoyed it :)
I love your videos! I find that following your care tips (with a little tweaking since I live on Vancouver island in BC) have helped me the most with my houseplants! I have a woodstove going all day long in my living room as it's now winter tho and the comparison to watering is more similar now with the amount of heat and humidity I got going on with the humidifyers going. Thanks so much for your sincere and quirky content I love it!
i finally got my hope peperomia after a long search.. i live in the tropics so this is so helpful. thank you for this video. pls keep doing what your doing 💚
Thankyou for this video...i bought a tiny plant a few months ago, and tried several times to find out what it is...i watched this video and realise its a peperomia hope! Im so happy...thankyou.
Thanks for explaining why the different internet spacing. I was wondering about the spacing on my Fiddle Leaf Fig. I just repotted my parallel peperomia (P. puteolata) little growths & cuttings into your Aroid mix; they looked very glum in the perlite, cactus soil mix they've been in for a month. Alive but Not Happy. I love the way this bark/twig/perlite mix looks on the pot surface; I added some small, pale natural stones (quartz mix) to camouflage the perlite cluster look in a random way. So delighted I found your channel. 💖💕
I just got one of this today, bcoz of you :D I'm so thankful that I got to know your channel and learnt alot from you. Thank you so much! I bought also one Peperomia Obtusifolia Green Gold (Variegata?). They look just so beautiful. I love all the green color, light yellow, or white.
And also the great thing about peperomias is that they grow in the winter time as well. Really cool to see as most other plants just sit there waiting for spring to come. I always get extra peperomias in winter ☺️
I love watching your channel. I especially love it because I also keep my plants outside. In other words I don't have to figure out how I'm going to take an inside plant and make it an outside plant. I have this plant and didn't know that I should treat it more like a succulent. ( I have learned so much from you)Found a good size stem laying outside a grocery store. I did leaf cuttings in dirt. They all survived. YAY !!! I love all your little written messages at the bottom of the screen. I too have problems remembering things. I usually blame it on my stroke but I believe like me you have a thousand things going through your mind. Keep up the great work. 🥀🍃🥀
My friend has been out of the country for two months now (and is going to stay there for a while). I went to pick up an aloe and peperomia from her place yesterday. As I repotted them for safety reasons (who wants potential pests jumping on your other plants?) I noticed the peperomia roots were mercilessly rotting because her mom had overwatered them, with only a tiny amount of roots left. I cut off most of the stems in sections in hopes of making a few new plants and am trying to save what's left of the mother plant. Thank you very much for your advice on how to handle this cute plant! May it thrive again soon.
Hi. I just gave my peperomia a haircut and was wondering what to do with the cuttings. Luckily I found this episode on the subject and I can go ahead and make new plants. Your videos are great, keep up with the good work😁🌱
Thanks! I have a new p. Hope. I’ve over watered it and I brushed against it yesterday and a whole long strand broke off at the base of the soil.😬 I cut it up and put it in water late last night, then I second guessed myself wondering if that was the wrong thing to do.
i have one and it think cute is the right description 😆 mine actually grows pretty fast. or maybe bc i don’t pay much attention to it and all of a sudden realized that the vines have gotten longer !love your enthusiasm and personality
Beautiful I need to buy a plant friend. I have a cutting that was inside of another plant .She is growing so fast I really like her she's easy to care for. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks to your video. Was inspired to change the soil of my p. hope which hasn't shown any growth for the past few months after buying it. Found out no roots or weak roots underneath.
I just got my first peperomia hope today and looking for ideas how to take care her I found you! Thank you so much for the tips and instructions, very helpful💚 I subscribe to your channel right away👍🏽 thank you!
@@onlyplants I've had trouble transitioning from water prop to soil with a lot of the peperomias I've propagated. Have you experienced this? Recently, I've been propagating in sphagnum moss in a takeout container that is closed 80% of the way so it remains humid. So far seems to be working better when transitioning to soil 🤞🏻Love your channel!
This is also one of my fave plant but somehow they dislike me so I turned to be a serial killer for them than their lover 🙄😫😭. Ur video made me hv more optimism that I can care them well too 👍
I am in love with peperomia hope can't wait to see it multiply. I have question, I have few leaves that have curled up tight and some that are cup shaped
Its watering or light issue. I address this in my pilea peperomioides video. They are often times maximizing or minimizing leaf surface to shied/access light or transpiration rate. 😀😀
Depends on too many things… could be light, watering, root issue (rot or dried), pest… you can take cuttings and propagate to start over. The new plants are usually much stronger
🦠🧪💚 always love your videos & knowledge. I have an insane obsession with wanting to collect tons of peperomias. I haven’t bought any yet but I have been studying them for some time. I’m going to a nursery tomorrow so my boyfriend is scared, I think Lolol 😂
I know this is gonna sound crazy and I'll probably get a lot of flack for this, but I'm not really a fan of Peperomia. That said, really I do like the Peperomia Hope. Thanks for the all the information. Maybe I'll give one a try.
I think everyone are drawn to different plants, peperomias are definitely not for everyone. I have not yet met a plant I dont like though... I have a feeling some day I will!
Thanks for another great video. I noticed some of my p. hope leaves are kind of rough and somewhat dull and not smooth like they should be and I’m not sure why. It’s in terracotta pot, living in a nw facing window and I watered it when soil is about 80% dry. Is it underwatered?
Thats new to me.. I would think that its underwatered, or perhaps it may have lost many roots from root rot or from drying out too much, and the current roots are not enough to support the plant size? But my advice is to always take cuttings, the new plants you start in your environment will be so resilient
@@onlyplants Noo haha.. people says pilea is an easy plant but it gets finicky on me i don’t know.. well hope you’ll find your care tips for this plant and share soon.. would looove to watch it!!
In my experience, no. They put out roos from the cut point, and node at the points around each nodes. Hoyas and aroids will root better/faster with that method.
You can leave the leaf on. But keep in mind the cutting shouldn’t have too many leaves, as they might fight for nutrients and water, killing the cutting in the process.
The leaves of my Peperomia Hope having been dropping periodically and it's a very tiny plant so I am worried! Where I first placed it, it was getting direct morning sun and some of the new leaves were starting to scorch so I panicked and placed it under one of my Monsteras where it was getting low, dappled light, but since then it's been dropping leaves. So it's back to indirect sunlight and hoping for the best in propagating the leaf that fell off today. I placed it directly in soil because I'm too forgetful when it comes to water propagations.
Good luck. I think they can handle a lot of light levels but is happiest with bright indirect light. Do not overwater them. I would treat them like a succulent.
Love peperomia🥰. Someday I would be able to propagate it when it gets big🤩. Would you take us for a garden tour if not too much to ask. 🤗 I like the way you show a glimpse of the green wall. Very interesting how did you do that🤔
Hello :) I was wondering if you knew, when a leaf falls off of a peperomia hope, will that spot grow a new leaf where the leaf fell off or will that piece of the vine never have a leaf again? Thanks!
That piece of the vine will never grow leaf again, but each of that node (where the leaf fell off) is a potential for new vine to appear from. But in order to do this you need to release if of its apical dominance, this means severing the top most growth beyond that node.
The first Hope clipping I bought was about two months ago at least, and it wasn’t rooted so my granddaughter and I carefully took the leaves off and we’re trying to propagate them in soil and it’s very slow going but we’re not giving up.
I just got two of these recently! The leaves on my peperomia hope are starting to curl downward but the leaves on the very bottom still seem firm. I don’t know if I should water or not. I have another small one that I have watered already and I don’t think it drained well because the bottom leaves rotted a few days later. I noticed there was a cotton strip at the bottom of the pot that might have been preventing it from draining so I removed it and the rotted stem. So far the rest of it seems to be ok so I’m hoping it will be fine, but I’m now worried about over watering the other larger one. I usually stick to bottom watering because I’ve been told it’s easier to not over water, is that ok for these plants?
Bottom watering saturates the soil completely - causing deep watering so the opposite is true.. it causes the soil to retain more soil. Try to back away with watering, they are actually quite drought resistant. But dont change suddenly… I would remedy it over time so the plant is not stressed
Incredibly informative video!! I actually just went to check on my plants and one of the strands of my peperomia hope came right out of the pot in my hand.. the root it had, had rotted. It was about 3 feet long in total and the rooted part was in the middle with two 1.5 feet vines on either side. I quickly cut them into sections like yours, dipped the bottom ends in rooting hormone (careful about which ends were the bottom and which were the tops) and placed them into damp soil. My question, I have a propagation dome with a heat mat, and a grow light; would the humidity be too much for this plant while it roots in soil?? Any suggestions?? Thank you!!
In my experience humidity does not affect this plant that much. In fact peperomias are known to be winter growers, growing faster in cooler days. The most important thing is to give the cuttings excellent light. 😀
You should have said at the beginning... *So for everyone who likes to nerd out to plants like I do, subscribe!* I did. 💚 I DIDN'T know they were epiphytes!! How come I didn't know that? I thought I knew most general stuff about peperomias but I've never heard that. If this is true, maybe you could have a video about different ways to grow plants that are epiphytes? That would be cool. Just a suggestion. I should see if you've already done one first lol.
Thank youuu. More plants are epiphytic than we though, as climbing upwards is sometimes the only way to ensure survival 😀 may do an episode on this thanks for the suggestion!
Wooh I cant remember… sometimes I dont change the soil because correcting the watering habits usually solves the problem. Unless the soil is infected with fungus or pests or is too compacted/retaining too much moisture.
Three possibilities, underwatering, overwatering, or underfertilizing. Underwatering - it doesnt get enough water to plump up the leaves Overwatering - the plant is getting so much water that it doesnt feel the need to store it in its leaves Underfertilizing - not enough nutrients for it to reach its maximum potential growth
I love my hope but been some issues. It keeps dropping foliage I did repot and it was doing good but started noticing the same issue. What you think I'm do wrong with my hope? I think is water issue because I noticed that it won't dry up quickly. Now I know to put here in a terracotta pot and pray to the plant God's to help her stay alive. TIA for any tips!
I would propagate and start over. Keeping the mother plant still. Its possible that its lost roots and cannot sustain the number of leaves it currently has? Best send photos to @bo.tan.ist on instagram so I can asses better.
Hello I had a pepperomia hope that died, but I a leaf that survived. I have it in a prop box with perlite for several months. It looks like it has 2 small tiny roots. Is it possible to turn this leaf into a plant and how. I'd hate to lose it. Please help if you have any tips or ideas on saving it. Thank you. 😊
1) I dont think it needs a prop box because too much humidity can rot it (it is a tropical succulent that dont require high humidity) 2) Cooler temperature would probably benefit it, something like a lightly air conditioned room.
Hello I happen to make plant soaps. I have a video with that title 😀 also its pinned on my instagram highlights @bo.tan.ist But... I actually dont have time to clean most of my leaves because I have well over 1,500 pots of them now so I just kinda tolerate a bit of dirt/stain 😀

Do they root any better if you cut off 2 nodes, remove the bottom leaves and then put that part under the soil/in the water?
In my experience, no. They put out roos from the cut point, and node at the points around each nodes. Hoyas and aroids will root better/faster with that method.
Do you need to cut below a node and remove leaves at that node to propagate? Or will it grow roots from any part of the stem?

Underwatering - it doesnt get enough water to plump up the leaves
Overwatering - the plant is getting so much water that it doesnt feel the need to store it in its leaves
Underfertilizing - not enough nutrients for it to reach its maximum potential growth
I love plants
I love my hope but been some issues. It keeps dropping foliage I did repot and it was doing good but started noticing the same issue. What you think I'm do wrong with my hope? I think is water issue because I noticed that it won't dry up quickly. Now I know to put here in a terracotta pot and pray to the plant God's to help her stay alive. TIA for any tips!
I would propagate and start over. Keeping the mother plant still. Its possible that its lost roots and cannot sustain the number of leaves it currently has? Best send photos to @bo.tan.ist on instagram so I can asses better.
Hello
I had a pepperomia hope that died, but I a leaf that survived. I have it in a prop box with perlite for several months. It looks like it has 2 small tiny roots. Is it possible to turn this leaf into a plant and how. I'd hate to lose it. Please help if you have any tips or ideas on saving it.
Thank you. 😊
1) I dont think it needs a prop box because too much humidity can rot it (it is a tropical succulent that dont require high humidity)
2) Cooler temperature would probably benefit it, something like a lightly air conditioned room.
And of course good light too. Bright indirect
I just noticed that sculptor of woman...that was by Dolorosa Sinaga, no?
I have a feeling it is 😅
Thanks for the video! Just subscribed! I don't know if you mentioned it but do you clean the leaves? If you do what do you use?
Hello I happen to make plant soaps. I have a video with that title 😀 also its pinned on my instagram highlights @bo.tan.ist
But... I actually dont have time to clean most of my leaves because I have well over 1,500 pots of them now so I just kinda tolerate a bit of dirt/stain 😀
I thought I was the only one who is using Yakult bottle for propagations 😆 thanks for sharing 💜🙏🏾
Haha they are the perfect shape size
@@onlyplants yesss it is, but since it is soo light, my cats always drop it with their tails or just by sniffing with their curious noses 😣😖.
I
Haha thank you.. they are so practical
Hi I bought pep hope in June 2021 in a 6” pot. It has grown but the trailing are up not down. Is there something wrong with my pep hope?
It should fall when it gets heavy enough. Give it a bit of time 😀
