I had a big argument with the owner of the truck I drive because he didn't want me to report all the non working safety related items on the PTI. I ended up telling him to drive himself, I walked away.

On Duty gives you your 30 minute break now so it accomplishes the same thing. It even pauses the drive clock, unlike before. There's no real reason to go Off Duty if you're not actually off duty and it's a place that takes long enough to get a 10.

As far as I know, here in NZ, everyone in the chain of command gets done, not just the drivers. So if you're running over your hours regularly, you'll get in trouble, then your dispatcher, then their boss for allowing it, all of the way to the top if necessary.

The first company I worked at when I got out a truck driving school was like that you may have heard of them western express I would often find things wrong with trailers and in the beginning I just thought I had bad luck and then I would have to get lights fixed or tires or whatever but sometimes it was more serious than that and you couldn’t even use the trailer and sometimes the dispatcher‘s would say will just pull the load anyway and then once you get done with the load Will get you fixed up somewhere and I actually quit because of that stuff and I got lucky I guess because where I work now it’s a really safety oriented company and they don’t want you to drive anything unless it will pass DOT so if you have a problem you don’t have to ask twice either they fix it or you just go onto another load and leave the load in the yard until it gets fixed or leave it at the wherever it is but they never try to pressure you into hauling it

New driver requirements for being on insurance. Is it true as a new driver, the employer does not place you on their insurance policy as a driver because of high insurance rates for them. but with drivers With a 6month experience or 1+ year experience they are placed on insurance policy. Is that common? As a new driver, what should you be looking for in companies that benefit your livelihood? US driver, new driver.

Another tidbit on interstating: Lots of CDN carriers ask you to drop a loaded trailer (#1) at the receiver and leave with an empty (#2). Drop the empty (#2) at the shipper, hook to a loaded trailer (#3) and depart back to Canada.
CDN Companies don’t even know it’s interstating so it happens all the time.

I made it about six months and quit the industry because of how hard we were pushed, and that's too bad, because I enjoyed putting the truck down the road, and I was good at it. Working legally just based on the elog is good for pin to pin loads with 24/7 pick ups & drop offs. Otherwise truckers paid by the miles can't make it to proper mileage to make it reasonable staying OTR. Or to be paid per day at a certain range and whatever happens going on the owners, not drivers.
Otherwise it's better to drive local or to change the job. It's a hard lifestyle to be a longhaul trucker.

Nothing that you mentioned saved nobody, everything is regulation after regulation. Everything should be more flexible, at the end you are there in the office doing nothing (doing report of efficiency) , I worked there. But I mean you want to keep your job which accomplish nothing. I wish there were a world with no trade people to see all office workers, what would they do. Btw I have Bachelors in CS. I think I have an idea of what I’m talking about

Exactly those government regulators regulate drivers to the teeth , even pilots are lil less regulated, at the same time we drivers mostly owner operators are not guaranteed any labour laws , have no wright's whatsoever that's why they abuse us financially as much as they can knowing well we can't win at the end

Don't turn logs off? Log on duty at shipper and receiver? Cry about every little thing wrong on a trailer? Ok, you will make about 500 per week as a truck driver. But you say your license is clean, no violations. So what? What good is having your license when you can make more working a fast food job

Are you related to Highlight, across the corner? Your colors are basically the same just different combinations and you're so physically close together.
I figured you might be cousins or something.

Get to KNOW your routes... KNOW when the scales are open... KNOW when troopers are rolling... KNOW the back roads that bypass the traps... and MOST of all... team up with a dispatcher/planner who is gonna keep you rolling... regardless of your HOS...
If you wanna make BIG MONEY today you gotta bend the rules... just don't break them... focus and you will learn...
20 years in the business... I've managed to save over 500k and I'm hanging it up to pursue my true dreams and start my own business that keeps me at home with family and friends... everyday...
Work the system yall... cuz if your gonna 'follow the rules' you mite as well get a job in the fast food business...
Always remember... it's YOU against THEM... no one cares if you succeed other than yourself...
The safety department is just an extension of the government... if anything goes bad out here on the road... that bag of bricks will be dropped on YOU...
That's why you have a camera recording you...
Get smart... work the system... use trucking to save and invest your money... and get out with a bag of cash...
    Good Luck Yall... I'm out...
