I've been considering a motorcycle for a long time. Just found out about these. What a great ride in every way. And the prices compared to all other manufacturers really tip the scales ⚖️.. for myself. Thanks for the maintenance information. I'd much rather do it myself if I can do a good job. This was a winner. I'm subscribing now .
You should snag some electrical numbers for wires. You just wrap each wire on both sides with the matching numbers and then it's a no brainer when disconnecting and reconnecting wires. It's all about the dimple lol. Lookin good my dude!
Great walkthrough! I've been wanting to do the ground fix and desmog for a while. Was not aware of the left screw on the solenoid for the ground fix. For the desmog, I'd like to know if your VTX-1800 now no longer pops on decel. I have high hopes. The popping is really annoying. Oh, and I will install the fuel quick disconnect. Thank you for the video!
No more os on decel, be sure to also replace the brass crush washers and re-torque the exhaust bolts, they often shake lose and will cause popping also.
@@eddieware5225 while it did help a bit of fuel, it mainly makes it ride smoother and not foul out the plugs so quickly. What's killing my mileage is my dual port hyper charger.
For the ground fix, after you clean it all up and put it together, why don't you spray some plasti dip or some sort of sealant over the bolts to prevent more corrosion and buildup?
@@Toutvids the best thing for the ground wire is to have metal on metal so the ground is solid. Plasti dip would do the same thing the powder coat was doing.
have you had to reseal the rear head cover yet? mine has a small leak and i know Honda says to remove the engine in order to do it but im not trying to do all that lol
That's a tough one, I would start with the basics Fuel, Spark and Air. Fresh plugs, new gas, clean intake. From there check exhaust bolts, they work loose. It's likely you will find the issue somewhere in this process. Good Luck!
Funny you ask, I've been doin some diagnosis because I've done the desmog and ground fix and still getting only 100 miles per tank. I found that my fi2000 is set higher than necessary, hopefully this will get me some more miles.
@colinm1325 turns out, my Kuryakyn pro charger is the older model which has a double port intake which lets much more air in. I believe it's the main culprit.
@@freefree2021 I don't have an answer mate. So, does it run well? But it just uses excessive fuel? Does it have any leaks or any tell tale signs where fuel maybe leaving marks? I hope you get it sorted soon. Kindest Regards.
@@freefree2021 yeah thats about what i get outa 3 gallons of gas too. i know my bike had a fuel trim modulater installed on it too. after screwing around with it using a volt meter, i figured out it can only make the bike run richer. so i just disconnected it. i am due to check my spark plugs and see if they have any fouling. that would be what i suggest you check first as well. easy way to tell if its running rich
Great information! I’ve got a 2003 VTX 1800 that makes a weird vacuumy rattling sound under, or inside the gas tank at 1500 to 1900 RPM’s. Above 1900 RPM’s the sound goes away and it runs perfect. Idles perfect too. Any ideas??
The blockoff plates for the desmog are at Goheencycles.com under pair valves, definitely get the dimpled plates! Other than that, i used a screwdriver and sandpaper for the main ground.

Excellent video ! Appreciate

How has your fuel range changed since completing these upgrades? Thanks for the video!

@freefree2021 he's talking about after you clean it all.
He kept calling them solenoids they arent solenoids they are ignition coils
Can you provide the web or part number of the cover plates ?
I mention it at 12:26 Goheen cycles

No seals are good so far. It definitely looks like there's room to do it without removing the engine, especially if you've already done the desmog.
"I love red rum" you mean Burgundy?
Maybe put some grease in you gas tank. It really helps to lube your lines!!!
Helpful tip....if you want to destroy your bike...
i need advice i have the same bike but mines bogg down after about 5-10 min of riding

what kinda fuel economy do you get out of your bike?

Only 100miles out of a tank? That's not good. Have u got that sorted, and what was it.

I would remove the tan and check all lines , could just be the chrome tank cover, the front sometimes rattle.
Do u have links to items used
