I’ve had quite a few bike. I regretted selling my 02 VTX1800N. Best all around bike I’ve ever had. That was 7 years ago. Well I found a 2007 Honda VTX1800 F2 with a mustang seat and a Memphis Shades batwing. I forgot how much torque they had! Luv my 1800VTX!!

I just started riding and bought a vtx and from what I kept hearing and seeing on how powerful it is, as a beginner I really enjoy it as well how easy and seemless it rides and feels on the road, I was expecting extreme trouble but as long as it's respected then it's an amazing bike

the exact words I was looking for. Been considering one for my fist bike. I'm in my upper 30's and have the the ability to ease myself into something without being stupid about it anymore. Well usually anyway lol.

I've got the 04 I ride it long hard and all the time. I've road several bikes from BMWs to Bules my VTX1800 will be my last bike there's not another bike for me. It does like nice roads but all cruisers do, as far as parts avaliblity I've never need a part for mine so I can't say. Two BMW's, a Suzuki dual sport, a Hayabusa sitting in the garage now with the HD's. Might just sell them all and get a VTX...

This engine doesn't have a rough idle designed into it. My VTX has the same exhaust as this one..same color, bars too...turns out it's easy to maintain and far less pricey than keeping a 2001 BMW R 1150 GS on the road. Changed all fluids, cleaned water tank, filters, upgraded clutch, rear tire and blinker fixed at independent local shop... for the price of 2 valve adjustments and an oil change at BMW shop.
As long the battery can turn the engine over twice it always starts.

I have the VTX 1300 in Oklahoma. I have to spend a lot of time on the interstate and on 65 mph highways that are generally pretty smooth. So it is a very good bike for my situation. I have put over 100,000 miles on it. Since I am 65 I probably won't ever get another bike but you never know. I sat on an 1800 at the dealership once and it seemed top heavy but people say when you get going over 15 or 20 mph you forget about the heaviness.

I've had my 1800c since new in '02. It runs perfect. Handles great and beats just about everything on the road. Beach bars, corbin seat & FCs that move the pegs up an inch + 3 forward makes it very easy to bank w/o scrapping.

Great review! I love that you mentioned the difficulty you have in maneuverability, as that is my experience as well. Wonderful on open roads, but it feels a little top heavy, and weight forward to be anything resembling nimble around town. I enjoy the 1300 VTX much better. The bike feels like it is under me, rather than in front of me, like the 1800.

For a cruiser you can't beat the VTX 1800. I've owned one since 2004, nearly 20 yrs. Recently, I picked up a used 2001 Bonneville to get a lighter, more nimble handling machine. No way could I sell the Honda. Both have their advantages. I usually always ride 2 up with my wife. The Honda is more of a hwy machine, the Bonny is a jump on and go to the store 10 miles away machine. I like a little variety.

@Kevin Ferroni I know what you’re talking about. The Stock Dunlop tires these 1800 C Models came with are the worst tires for handling that I have ever experienced on any bike I’ve ever ridden. If you really want to change the heavy handling of your VTX then read my recent comment about the tires I use. I replaced the Rear one first with the 200 wide ME880 Marathon Metzeler tire and couldn’t believe the difference. It was like day and night! But even more shocking was when I switched the Front to a Bias Ply Metzeler ME 880 in place of the same sized Radial Metzeler ME 880. It was simply Amazing. My two Sons and I were Speechless and couldn’t believe what happened to My Beloved VTX, it was that Evident. I don’t know if the same trick would work on the fat Front tire Xs because I’ve never checked to see if a Bias Ply tire is offered in that size. If Not, I’m sure just switching to the Metzelers on those Models would be a Huge improvement. By the way, We are Not Affiliated with Metzeler in any way and Most of Our Shop Products come from Drag Specialties and Their Associated Brands, among others. We mostly build Big Bore Stroker Harleys and Dyno Tune so its Strange to see My VTXC3 sitting in the Shop. It got a lot of Looks and Questions in 2006-2008 from Customers Who Were Clueless to What is Was…lol!
Anyway, If you want to Fall In Love with your VTX all over again. Do yourself a Huge Favor and Switch those Tires Over…lol! You won’t regret it! Thanks and GOD Bless!!!

Enjoyed the review. I've been riding a 2002 VTX 1800 C for a year now in the US - California. I agree the suspension and handling are subpar (even more so now that I'm running double darkside). And aside from its need for a 6th gear, I just love the bike! I use it for delivery work and have learned how to transfer my body weight to the floor boards for added stability at high speeds and over big bumps.

@@TheManoy66 Yeah, I certainly wouldn't recommend it for poor, uneven roads - the flat profile can easily shift you off balance, especially at low speeds. First I’d like to say Thanks for a great video!!! I still have my 2006 1800C3 since it was new and it still puts a Big Smile on my face when I ride it. It’s the only bike I’ve owned that during break in I wasn’t already thinking on how was I going to get more power out of it. Anyway I am curious to know how many others out there have replaced the front tire (C Models) with a Same Size but instead of the Radial Tire use a Biased Tire??? Since the First tire change I have only used Metzeler ME880 Marathons, as do most of Our Harley Customers per our and others recommendations and testimonies. Anyway on the second tire change on the X, which comes quickly if you ride the bikes aggressively. I was caught off gaurd and didn’t have the Radial in stock but for some reason did have the same size tire in a Bias Ply. I knew all the info about mixing Radials and Bias tires but was headed for the Blue Ridge Parkway in a few days. Let me tell Ya, the X handled like I took 150-200 lbs off of it instantly. I was so shocked that I hauled my butt back to the shop to have my 2 sons ride it to confirm what I couldn’t believe happened. The bike was a whole new experience on the Parkway and the Tail of the Dragon. In fact I even took pics of my rear tire with these strange marks on the side walls. We inspected the bike thinking something may have broken. We later realized I had the bike into the corners so hard that I was on the outer edges of the side wall. I have Progressive Suspension 444 shocks on the rear, Power Commander, modified stock air box with the air valve delete and a Road House Short Bolt on Muffler with the medium baffle. At present my rides are 75 GL1000, 79 HD FX, 83 XV 700 Yamaha Bobber, 99 HD Road Glide, 2006 DL650 V-Strom, 2017 Aprilia Caponord Rally 1200 and a 2018 Piaggio 150 Liberty Scooter. But the VTX makes me feel like I did when I first got it every time I ride it. Anyway that tire change made the bike turn in way quicker and more predictable and precisely than the Radial. I could make a slow 90 degree turn in half the distance than before. By the way, many of us are switching to the Dunlop American Tires as the mileage and performance feed back testimonials are getting hard to ignore. I’m not sure about changing the X over yet…lol! Don’t fix something that ain’t broke I’ve always said. Didn’t mean for this to be so lengthy but I hope It helps someone out there. Be Safe and GOD Bless and Protect Us All. ❤️🙏🏼👍🏽😎

Thank you for the input on the tires you are using, i'm sure someone out there appreciates it as well. I'm currently running Shinko SR777 front and rear they have been very good so far. Excellent grip even on wet pavement and long lasting too. I might make a tire review soon since i just got the VTX running again after replacing the water pump.

@@TheManoy66 Thanks for the Kind Words! Although Not as Rare here as there, VTX’s are Not common place around here either. So it’s always nice to talk with someone about these Not So Common Bikes…lol! Another tid bit I’d like to share is that I will never use Valvoline Motorcycle Oil in any motorcycle that uses the engine oil to lube the clutch basket and tranny. I first used it in my 75 GL1000 GoldWing. I thought It seems to lack some Acceleration shortly after the oil change, mostly in High Gear. I wrote it off as being a fluke because I was used to the Torque of a Harley. About a year later my youngest Son asked me if it was possible for his clutch to be slipping in Suzuki TL1000 shortly after an oil change. I said anything is possible, what oil did you use. He said he switched to Valvoline Motorcycle Oil. I got to thinking and remembered what I thought about the GoldWing. So I told him to replace it with Amsoil. He did and his clutch started hooking up again around 160 miles or so. Mean while I had switched the VTX to Valvoline as well and I noticed the bike had a split second lag when I’d nail the throttle, almost like a flat spot on a carbureted bike. I figured it wasn’t as extreme on the X because of the crazy amount of torque that bike has even at 1700 RPM. So I switched my oil to Amsoil as well but wasn’t so lucky. It improved some but Not 100%. So early on I replaced the friction plates and clutch springs with Barrnetts, surprisingly the steels looked brand new. Anyway, I hope this may be of some use to someone. Thanks! And GOD Bless Us All!!!

@@cowdudeable Metzeler ME880 Marathons. Use the same size front tire but replace it with the Bias Ply Tire. The Rear I use the 180 or 200 width in a Radial with Either Size. I love the look and extra traction of the 200 wide rear. It’s a close fit but I never had an interference issue of any kind with them, even riding two up with bags and luggage rack stacked up. The only draw back is that the tread depth of the 200 is roughly 2 to 3mm less than the stock 180 width tire, if memory serves me correctly. Anyway if riding the bike the same with both tires, I normally would get 1000 to 1500 hundred more miles from the 180 wide Metzeler. Please Remember, this is a VTX 1800 C(3) Model which has a narrow 130 wide front tire, again if memory serves me correctly. With 7 other bikes and a tall tire Piaggio 150 Liberty Scooter, 84 GT Mustang, 68 GT Torino FB, 97 Ranger Truck and a 95 F150 Truck and a 2002 Chrysler Town and Country Van,
It gets confusing sometimes…lol! If I missed any thing, feel free to message me again, hope this was helpful. Thanks!

The previous owner took out the baffles within the muffler. You will need to cut open the stock exhaust and weld it back together. There was a video where the guy demonstrated it but i couldn't find anymore.

I have vtx 600 and it’s my 9th bike. After sports, cross, nakeds I ended with childchood dream and it’s perfect for me, I ride mostly in city, tide quick, agile and dyniamic. Slim, light, great bike that people like and gives the way, spreads in traffic. On sport bikes was treated like a agressor. Start is great, until 70km/h. 1800 is my dream for long trips due to lack of power over 120km/h.

Great video man, ever consider a vtx 1300? The reason I ask is I live in the states and I've owned both. The 1300 is carburetor but I only used the choke when it's cold but handles much better than the 1800 in almost every way except the highway. Be safe🤙
