You have a very effective teaching method compared to almost every other Cantonese source I have looked for. Thanks for getting straight to the point and making things very vocal and clear.

M goi Amanda. So far your videos were very helpful. I'm convinced and I'll start subscribing 😊 I'm studying one video per day, don't mind me commenting everyday 😅 (Except sing kei sei due to my Mandarin class. It was very helpful for me to pickup Cantonese real fast).
my current lessons (from lesson 39 onwards) are all using jyutping. For the earlier lesson, I combined yale and jyutping system as i thought it might be easier for English speaker. But I received the comments that it's better to standardized to one system. So I have chosen jyutping.
This is great, I have been in Hong Kong from last 6 years but was never able to learn. Never had access to good learning material as well. But thanks to you, you are teaching in a very simple way. Can you also suggest any English to jyutping book which i can get in Hong Kong ? which might help me to built up good vocablary ?

Is HK Cantonese where the N changes in L for some words? E.g. "you" or "year". Saw the way it's spelled but heard it pronounced differently and I want to understand if it's an accent/regional difference or my hearing is just starting to fail haha
It's not your fault. We do have a hard time to this. For us, they are similar. I try my best to correct it. But when you hear the local speak. They do the same sometimes. I am sorry about that. 😅
No need to correct! I just want to distinguish to better imitate when I speak. I'm surrounded by more HK than Canton folk, so it's very useful to see/hear the pronunciation so I can use it when I'm around other people who use it

The end of the video makes me miss my Cantonese great grandmom who passed away so much! She taught me these numbers when I was 2 or 3 years old. 😢

Thank you very much. How to distinguish between Monday and Sunday if both are 'sing kei yat'?
The main difference is the tone, Monday is jat1 and 日(Sunday) is jat6.
more tone practice on lesson 74

What is the cantonese of "numbers"?

Amanda, what do the numbers ending the words mean? For example: "Luk6" (number 6) and "sap6" (number 10). What are they related to? Thank you.
Those are tones. I will explain this on lesson 73 onwards. Stay tuned 😉

@apschweiz 😉 yup! nin4 is the correct pronunciation.
Can I swap the pronunciation for number 0 as Ning instead of Ling ? I prefer say with the N cause Hong Kong people tend to do that often
The official pronouncation is ling4. I can't tell you to swap🤫 here. I recommend to stay with "l" for this one. 😉
