In this video, Brenden and Tom sync the carbs on his 1975 Honda CB360T in the streets of Brooklyn using the carb synch tool kit. Often times you will see symptoms that your bike needs to have the carbs synced which include high idle speed, inconsistent idle, shaking while accelerating and mediocre throttle response, lack of top-end power output from the engine. Chances are your CL / CJ / CB360 has not had the carburetors synchronized since it left the factory so it is time you do it.

Brilliant move with the single gauge. Also, this video is hands down the best example of syncing a 360 I've found. ONE thing to note, when tightening down the adjuster nut, I'm careful not to let the screw drift (which you end up doing at the end). Well done and I'll see you on the streets! ) Fellow 360er in BK.

This is simply brilliant. Clear and concise and a set up that I (and others) can easily duplicate. Thank you.

4:32 It's not a "back and fourth thing" if you use two gauges instead of one. I've never had gauges that are out of true, but even if you did it would be easy to check and then adjust accordingly.

Nicely done vid guys. You should market your sync gauge setup! XD

How can I sync my 2020 Hyabusa? I can't find the sync ports and only have an old garden hose and a soda pop.

i always sync the throttle blades with a feeler gauge , then use a vacuum gauge to adjust the idle mixture screws to obtain a balanced reading . the way you have adjusted it here would obtain balanced readings even if you had a misadjusted mixture screw , but would do little to truly balance the carbs . the intent of the screw you are adjusting is to remove slack from the carb linkage so the butterflies open and close together .

Someone correct me if Im wrong but the idle mixture screws have no effect on the air pressure/velocity within the carb. They only control how much fuel is being sucked through the idle/pilot jet correct? So if they don't have any effect on air pressure/velocity then adjusting that screw will have little effect on the vacuum gauge.
The sync screw lets you individually adjust the butterfly vavles so there is equal pressure through each carb.

both the butterfly and the air needle in the pilot jet have an effect on air flow. You can actually see the effect of the pilot screw on a vaccum gauge when you turn it. Butterfly sync is crucial for acceleration response, and can be perfomed without a vaccum gauge. (checking both slack and buterfly position).

Why does the motor keep dying?

With 8 or 9k miles on it just ride. These things last 100k here in Thailand where they are serious transportation.

What type of Carburetors are theses? I have a 1972 CL350 with Keihin carburetors and can't for the life of me find the Tube port of Synchronization.

      +Bobby Jones This is a 360 and not a 350. The 350 is just synced by ear/eye

I know this is very old but I am searching for videos of 360s running because my valve train is the loudest I've ever heard. I have adjusted the clearances properly but the sewing machine type noise scares me from revving the engine too high. Mine is actually quieter than this video. Is it normal? Thanks

Hey miles, it’s hard to say by the description. You can always send us a video over on our website through the support tab and we’ll give it a listen. It’s always a best guess though.

@@Common-motor redid the valve clearences! The intakes were at .004 instead of .002. Purs like a kitten now.

I was able to adjust it almost perfect, my issue is the position of the adjustment nut on the carburators. It is not straight up so when I put the tool on it, I basically affect the idle and the overall exercise is in jeopardize. I'm planning to replace my intake boots and redo the adjustment because I feel there is something else going on, vacuum leak or maybe float adjustment. Basically one of the carbs is ''dying'' while the other one runs at idle, even with mixture screws set and synchronization done. If I wait too long at a stop and move the handle too slow, the engine dies. I am able to manage this by revying the engine very quickly.

    • @Common-motor
      @Common-motor  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah it definitely sounds like you're still having fuel delivery issues. Just like you said I'd check through the float adjustments, intake manifold conditions and general cleanliness of the carbs.

@@Common-motor I was able to fine tune it and extremely satisfied. Before going back to this I serviced the carbs, replaced intake boots and modified air filters to replace paper with oil-soaked foam. Bike never performed so well. Thank god you didn’t remove the electric starter on this one hey Brenden? 😉

Put the gauge on the ground with longer tubes and the needle won’t bounce around no need for restrictors

You should tighten locknut after each time you move adjuster and recheck. Also that is one noisy engine.
