Just going through a similar situation here, Once again, thanks for the seal part number quotations. You saved me a bunch of time. So i thought I'd leave a comment to say Thanks.
I like the way you and your dad work together. You both are very well spoken and thorough. Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see the tractor back together and running.
I am loving this Farmal Super M project. I have to ask Senior if he was a farm equipment mechanic when he was working. He seems to know so much about Farmal Tractors.Thank you Senior and Squatch 253 for your proficient skill and work. Great video! I can hardly wait for its completion. :-) :-) :-)
Thank you for taking time to make these videos. I enjoy Sr’s instructions and step by step approach. I appreciate that he explains the details of what he is doing because the details are what really matter in this line of work. Thank you again!
I have watched every one of these Super M videos to date with great interest. I appreciate what Squatch253 and Senior are doing. I like that you put the cross part numbers out there. I’m planning to tear down a 1954 IH Super MTA this next year. Thank you!
I love both your and seniors judicious use of the swing press. You are both delicate and effective in its use. You both hit accurately and with just the right force. It's both a great skill and almost artistic.
You guys are making me want to tear down my very tired SMTA! SKF 6309 is not the only option. It is the severe duty fluoroelastomer lip option. 6315 is the same seal with nitrile lip. 6316 is nitrile with dust lip. 6323 is nitrile with a different lip profile. 6280 and 6285 are 0.313 thick and might fit the casting, since many of the old seals were thicker by default. The SKF catalog is online for download. Seals are listed by shaft, then bore sizes. Growing up in a parts house was fun!
I enjoy watching your videos. I have a 1958 farmall 130 that my grandfather bought new, and is still on the farm. Me and my Dad did some work on when he was with us. Those are precious memories. Hold them.
Good save on the bushing and seal. A lot of what goes into being effective as a mechanic; is sometimes working with what you have. Or adjusting to the situation that you are in. The wrong seal would have stopped a lot of guys. Very well thought out solution.
you guys do really good work, I've been thinking it for a long time but I never mentioned it, thanks for taking the time to record your efforts with this and all your projects
Thanks for the great videos. I will never have the opportunity to do what you do . I just love the old school stuff and the ability you two have to keep it going. Thanks again.
Good job gentlemen. But know the need for the tractor, so it comes first! But can not wait for you to start the D2 engine.... and start on the rest of it. The get back on 10X.....
I hate when your nub is worn down 🤦♂️😂 I like that way of locking the bearing on sometimes locking collars on today’s bearings don’t always stay locked
Nice job guys. Tobby, I thought you had made a mistake with the bearing retainer. I thought you forgotten the gasket till i went back and rewatched you put the retainer inplace and saw you had glued the gasket to the retainer so I'm gonna shut the hell up and watch youand your dad reassemble this tractor without my input. Great job!!!
First comment, but have watched all your videos, sometimes twice. Senior/Toby, you two are so talented, thank you for sharing your builds. I can't wait to see your next one.
This tractor better run good after this, without the mystery knock being discovered (I know tgere was guesses to what it was but I forget) if this tractor leaks any oil or even ticks i swear ill throw my tv outta the window
@@charlienorton2337 I hate it when somebody makes it sound like they are a know-it-all. I bet you could be asked to do jobs that you wouldn't know where to start or even what attachments you should be using to set the lathe up to do the job! This may be basic lathe work but a fully trained machinist is exposed to a lot more complicated jobs. It's like saying "i can fly a single engine Cessna so a jumbo jet shouldn't be any big problem, let me in the seat"!
Where is your local Salvage yard? I do not know of any up in northern MN, I hear that there is some multi propose scrap iron yards but can not verify it.
No you can do the whole PTO rebuild without lifting the top cover, you just have to fish the front of the PTO driveshaft around a bit to get it lined back up at the front when putting it back in 👍
Yes. The wire was there so that if the owner removed it and tampered with the governor for more RPMs than factory rating that it would be evident and consequently void the warranty on the engine.
Does the local tractor junkyard, pull those pieces off the tractors and put them on shelves, or do you have to go running around their yard to find one
If you'll look real close (may have to freeze the vid), you see it stuck to the seal housing. Also when he slid it on, it hit with a dull thud and not a metallic clank.

Really enjoy watching 2 very good mechanics. Doing what they have obviously done a whole lot of. Looks easy. But it's not!! 😀
it's nice to see that you and your dad can work on things and working with your dad

Metal lathe save the day!! Super M will be a brand new tractor!!😎
You guys should get the 350 diesel up and running
Love Sr.'s old Eagle No. 66 oiler!
Never stuck can't find a seal to fit so just machine a spacer 💪💪 PTO castin was a nice find too🤔 did I hear senior mention paint 🙄😂 great series 👍👍
This whole series makes me want to dive into my 53 M. It just needs a quick re-sleeve on a couple cylinders....aaaaand maybe a paint job.
Coming together very well.
Thanks for the great videos. I will never have the opportunity to do what you do . I just love the old school stuff and the ability you two have to keep it going. Thanks again.
Very nice, the day the Farmall and Cat starts this channel will have full sub views, comments and thumbs up's
Great job Fellows, enjoyed the video
I am getting so excited to see this baby run again!

Glad you were able to find replacements. Great video, it's getting closer to being finished. Cheers :)
Don't lower the river, raise the bridge!
You can't be afraid of machining your own parts if you're going to keep this old stuff running :)
Nice fabrication on the seal fit....

Excellent as always, Greetings from New Zealand.
I’d love to she your steps in painting. That’s always a challenge

Thank you for the video.

G'day Squatch

This Chanel should be called tractor university
The 70268D seal, would the one for a H (Super H) fit and be available?
From the South end to the North end! You are getting closer!
This tractor better run good after this, without the mystery knock being discovered (I know tgere was guesses to what it was but I forget) if this tractor leaks any oil or even ticks i swear ill throw my tv outta the window
You have any experience with the pro pilot bushing, i think mine is worn out. Can’t find much on it.
Hi why did you use brass instead of mild steel for the seal change of bore diameter?
Jim from Colorado pretty sleeve you made
Hey Squatch are you going to be able to use your thermostat puller to get that sleeve out, if that seal goes out while you're still alive?
Aaah, to have a lathe and know how to use it. Serious envy here.
Using a lathe isn’t hard at all lol

Is it necessary to remove the deck lid to do that service? I have the same broken ear and broken engagement lever.

this is really coming along! did you expect to do all this work when you took it down?
I see the drilled bolt heads in the governor cover, would those have been wired/sealed at the factory??
Yes. The wire was there so that if the owner removed it and tampered with the governor for more RPMs than factory rating that it would be evident and consequently void the warranty on the engine.

If im not mistaking the farmall m replaced the f-30 and f stood for fairway
Yesterdays tractors has a lot of parts
SKF 6309 crosses to TCM 06122TB (not 06112TB)
when the bearing retaining plate went on about 9 mins in, is there no gasket or did i miss that?....
