I got XTB because I liked the more realistic alt mode. But so floppy, the arms fall off and the legs can barely stand up. The lack of rigidity when in truck mode is inexcusable. It can't even roll along without folding at the waist. I'll be getting to FT even though I don't care for toon accuracy.
FT clearly the better fig, but I sure do miss interesting sculpt, creative interpretation, and realistic alt modes! Definitely don't miss unfinished design, cheap plastic, messy backs, and drab colours tho 🤷💊
the smoke stacks on the XTB come off and peg into the arms, making them both extra accessories, and more accurate :D. I'm sure Fanstoys is still the better figure though
This is one of the few XTB molds that didn't make me need a drink when I was done transforming him. And doing it without breaking, on top of that. Yeah, it's dated, but my Huffer, Pipes, and Roadranger are staying this mold.
I like their Springer better and even sold my Fans Toys version and it'll be hard for Fans Toys to beat their version of Ultra Magnus as that's pretty much perfect. Transformation is a pain but, it looks great in both modes.
To be fair, FansToys is pretty much going to be the only MP scale Magnus that does the "white Optimus in armor" thing. Both versions of the XTB/KFC didn't do it, neither did Takara or the Toy House Factory KO.
Still give props to an 8 year old figure that isnt slavish to a cartoon stranglehold on the designer. Unfortunate that the build was never the strongest. And hey let's hear it for a recent ft that doesn't fall apart or has an annoying transformation!
Fan toys better . If you wanting accurate it’s fan toys cartoon and G1 toys style but upgrade . x bot just takes that character mold and make it their own .
Before diving into the video, thanks for reminding me that I have a few Hasbro mainline Kingdoms Huffbots to unbox. Sweet. I love me some Huffbots; Huffer being my fave. Now, onto the video!
Rare to see a vs that is so one sided, lol. But makes sense, many years between these two,lol. I never grabbed the XTB version but im upgrading from my BadCube one. First time I'm upgrading in a long time! Usually I see some things I prefer but nothing worth spending money on replacing a figure I already have.
Objectively, FT is going to be a better figure, there's no question about that... but I still prefer a realistic alt. mode. In fact, a 'toon or chibi alt. mode is a deal breaker for me, with one caveat... if the 'bot mode looks lightyears better. That's why I replaced Brawny and Toro in my collection with Hunk and Parkour (though I still have Toro for that Porsche mode); however, Stax still looks good to me, so he's not going anywhere.
Man, I am usually really stoked for vs vids, but this is like comparing a 1990's Civic to a 2023 Tesla. I mean, yes, they are both cars, but that is where the comparison ends. Aka, yeah, they are the same character, but that is the only reason this comparison is possible. At least get your hands on a BC and do a three-way vs. I know you did it in the Huffer but that isn't the same character and isn't in this vs. You are probably one of three collectors that didn't ditch the xtb the second the bc was released or skipped it because reviews hammered it.
Not having the pipes on the arms of the x transbots is a cardinal sin. Its literally his thing. hes called pipes for that exact reason. Total failure for x transbots, yet its not even mentioned. Jeez Bobby. WTH !

I think the creative interpretation of early 3RD Party is what I miss the most. I am so tired of toon accuracy. So tired.
