Here's how I tell the Battle Chargers apart: * The "B" in RunaBout goes with the "B" in Black. * The "M" in RunaMuck goes with an upside-down "W" in White.
We finally have an MP Runamuck and Runabout. That's crazy to me lol. I remember a long time ago you wanting this be made along with other stuff but these two what?! Lol. Crazy! I dig it!
100% agree with this fair review. It feels a bit undercooked and there are a few places where I need to force the plastic to bend (Folding up the hood). The black one feels more refined but the back trunk is another monster in itself. But it does feel like they tried to put some changes in the transformation other than a straight repaint. I wish they gave us a different gun aligning back to the toon designs
This xtb release actually looks good imo, I really like the car, the robot, and the transformation, definitely gonna get. Idc what people say about this figure I think it’s good
The hood would need a minor retool to have the scoop/intake on it. If anything, I'm shocked they never did that with their Windcharger (but the back window would've needed a retool to be a flat window instead of that vented part that Windcharger's particular version of the Trans-Am/Firebird/Camaro was known for)...
Thank Primus you did this review. I got mine on Saturday and the only English review I could find was more confusing than the directions. Whomever did it just fast forwarded throughout the transformation process with no spoken word, just some lame muzak. I'm so glad you are here to explain to me this stuff as you do it. I spent and hour on the feet alone. Looking forward to Bout's review. Take care.
Dear XTB, I always love how your products look, but for the love of Primus, can you stop making your stuff so heavily over engineered so that it could be called "masterpiece-like". Watching poor Bobby try to do all this gives me anxiety. It makes me not want to buy your stuff. Read the room.
I would usually agree with that. However, every review I have watched on this guy say that Xtbs did a pretty good job. As much as I appreciate Bobby for his rigorous reviews, transformations are not his strong suit. He chooses not to view instructions and do it by himself on the very first transformation; elevating the probabilities of breakage (I cringe every time haha). But hey, it’s his style and I don’t think he’ll change that.
Good review. XTB Long Haul did impress me from you last review. This one seems more like the XTB we know. I feel like this figure will be a place holder for some time until someone comes along and makes these guys. I wanted them both to be a Lotus ESPRIT, not really fond of the Trans Am / Firebird for this character. I am not a fan of the headsculpt myself. I guess we'll see. I remember when Arkose / XTB Beachcomber was the best version of that character until FT came out with theirs. I can see FT making these figures at some point. Hopefully they will use one mold for both figures. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
It seems okay, which honestly feels like high praise for X-Transbots to me, at least as of late. I might still get them but I'm waiting to see if they do toy redecos because the extra orange on Runamuck would really help break up the colour. They'll probably go overboard on the toy decals though. No more nice middle-grounds, it seems...
I can't say this is a bad TF action figure but I don't like it much. I had both preordered and canceled them before they where released, I'm glad I did. Thanks for the review Mr. Skullface.
I want to see if you have issues with Fury. That’s where I ran into issues. Back back make sure tires peg in when folded in. But they don’t line up well.. had other issues but let’s see what you run into.
I just transformed Fury and it's very similar, but not exactly the same, as Fast. The differences are, unfortunately, not good. I thought the doors folding into the legs were going to break. There's tiny little posts behind the rear wheels that I'm absolutely sure will snap off on the next transformation. And, THAT hole (so to speak)!
Oooo the vehicle mode looks amazing. Bot mode looks good imo. Not perfect, but good. Clearances and XTB, though. 😅 I'll be getting this one. Glad it's not a clusterf*** like their Punch/Counterpunch
Punch / Counterpunch was always going to be a mess because they're two characters in one mold. It's like the triple changers where one of the three modes is going to suffer.
@@saysoun752 It's not as complex as a proper triple changer like Blitzwing though. And compared to Star Toys' Blitzwing or whatever the company's name was, XTBs Counterpunch really was a massive flop. There are far better proper triple changers out there. Heck there is a CHUG version of Counterpunch that is still better.
@@JaceyMitchell But it is though as a triple changer only has to transform into one mode at a time and they still usually mess up one of them. This guy has a car mode but has to transform into two different robots with one robot on one side and the other on the other. That's like a triple changer trying to change into two different alt mode at the same time while still trying to look decent.
@@saysoun752 Sorry but you couldn't be more wrong. You make it sound as if he HAS to transform into two robot modes simultaneously - he doesn't, and that was part of the problem with their approach. The engineering does not have to be anywhere near as complex as a proper triple changer because much of the silhouette is already there and can be used so you can transform between Punch and Counterpunch with a few relatively minor steps. The problem with XTB's James/Bond was that they DIDN'T remotely approach it like a triple changer and took the easy way out, which resulted in the botch job they ended up shipping, where a little more time spent in the oven could have resulted in a perfectly acceptable figure. A talented engineer can take the basics of XTBs design and with fairly minor modifications turn it into a much better figure. That isn't up for debate, it's just an objective fact, and again there is a Hasbro CHUG release out there that proves the point and while far from being perfect does a far better job at it. The XTB release was objectively badly done, and it didn't have to be. I would happily have paid a little more for Punch/Counterpunch than a regular XTB car bot knowing the extra engineering that ought to be involved in a figure like it, and I reckon most of us feel that way (hence why FT's Thomas is in a price category above above Recorder's, despite being roughly similar in size). XTB's Punch/Counterpunch was lazily done and undercooked, and the roasting it got was roundly deserved.
@@JaceyMitchell I disagree as it's much more difficult to have a Transformer transform into two different robots than it is to transform into two different alt modes. In a triple changer, you can hide some of the other alt mode simply by putting it on the back and flipping it. However, you'll still see some of the parts no matter how well you do this. This guy had two different robot modes with two different head sculpts and two different color combinations. I agree that XTB tends to over complicate things but, nobody is going to make a great Punch / Counterpunch. They'll probably do a better job than XTB but, they're not going to make him transform into two different robot modes without sacrificing something.
Tell those guys at X transbots Quit putting QC PASS stickers on top of the toy On bottom of foot OUT of sight please thank you ,,And the firebird looks like it has a saggy rear
There seems to be several aspects of the transformation that remind me of Sunstreaker...and I absosmurfinlutely *DESPISE* Sunstreaker's transformation. (I've had practice, and I still hate how the mold handles that) The legs look even more annoying, too. Sweet mother of Primus, Unicron and Gaea, XTB, wtf were y'all smokin' with this engineering!? Repaint happy they may be, I strongly doubt that they'll have the brains to do K.I.T.T./K A.R.R. from this mold; the hood needs a minor retool to have the hood scoop, and they never did that with their Windcharger (who would've needed the back window retooled into an actual window instead of the vented part)...and Windcharger would've been a more sensible option for that anyway. (Off-topic: speaking of Camaro/Firebird/Trans Am, I'm amazed Hasbro has never done a Crossover retool & repaint of the 76 Camaro Bumblebee into the similar second gen Firebird from Smokey and the Bandit...)
Weird to see an XTB figure that doesn’t come with multiple accessories, but I guess we can’t really blame them since these losers didn’t really do much so XTB didn’t have anything to give them
I wasn't quick enough to cancel my pre-order, and while this figure seems ok (rear wheels bowing out in alt mode not withstanding) the choice made on Runabout is one of the dumbest things I have ever seen in MP transformers. From top 3 on my TF bucket list to top 3 disappointments.

When you're getting frustrated with a transformation, you should ask yourself WWBD - What Would Beachcomber Do

Solid review as always.
Dennis, thank you for asking Bobby to get in tight on those head sculpts. 😊😅
Thanks for the review , just finished transforming mine.

I wish they had gone with the IDW colonization for robot mode just for a bit more color breakup.
When is XTB going to give us a Knight Rider repaint of this guy? They got the car, they got the hub caps, just make it happen.
End of an era 😅
I've yet to see a XTB figure that i really want, this one comes close.
