- Impresionante "descabalgada" de las Walkirias en el Met. La mole que compone la puesta en escena, describe mejor el Walhalla y la roca donde dormirá Brünnhilde que la intimidad de la casa de Sieglinde y Hunding, pero el gran efecto se da en las escenas del bosque y cuando las columnas se transforman en los caballos de las walkyrias, celebradísimas por el arrojo que deben mostrar en escena, al deslizarse por las columnas-equinos como si fueran toboganes..
Cuantas más veces la escucho más feliz me encuentro, son las 23 horas,no quiero ver nada de guerras ni horrores solo musica OTRO MUNDO GRACIAS POR ESTAR ❤❤
Recuerdo cuando iba a clase de música... mi buen profe nos mostró este mismo vídeo y a día de hoy me sigue sorprendiendo. Gracias a él le cogí más gusto tanto a la música como a la mitología nórdica.

Thank you. Since 1980 I've listened to just about every recording of this music ever made (& a few live performances as well), & I appreciate the original opera segment cranked up to the proper speed. In every other opera production I've heard, it seems there's an obsession with going slow enough in case the horses don't suddenly drop dead from a heart attack.
Many years ago I watched a report abut James Levine in Bayreuth to get right tempi at Walküre. He installed his own tape recorder and try different tempi. Then he listen to the records and look for the one were music is fast enough (dynamic) without smear. He found and maybe he remembered this tempi at MET, too. - Cheers; Heinz

Wagner utiliza la tecnica del Portamento para que Barunilda pueda emitir de forma correcta estos tremendos agudos en que despues de cada uno el siguiente debe ser mas alto.

La película Apocalipse now me trajo hasta acá.
They have horses in the current Aida at the Met, I think it's either 80s or 90s production that they still have. I'd imagine it's not the horses that's a problem it's finding singers who'd be able to ride and sing too.
segund comentario sobre como unas voces muy agudos como son las sopranos Wagnerianas pueden hacer unos gritos tan agudos, para ello Wagner utiliza una técnica vocal denominada PORTAMENTO....

I didn't mind that much. The problem is this photography doesn't show how high up on the stage they were - they were up there like they were in the sky (you can see some videos on TH-cam which give better angles to give you the idea) - and that does give some perception of them going from in the air to landing on the ground. Very rare you see a production with valkyries in the air at all.
Impresionante versión , música y montaje. Q las escenografías q se empeñan en poner ropa del siglo XXI a personajes del xvii o del xviii son un horror

Esta representacion tuve la suerte de verla en Valencia esp.....algo unico!!!
El año pasado pude tener la suerte de ver en el teatro Real de Madrid El Ocaso de los Dioses.
Hay que ser wagneriano para entender esta opera......nada que ver...con las demas Operas.
Tambien ser un poco filogermano.

Se dice que en una de las funciones de esta temporada, se le atoró el vestido a una de las sopranos pero no pasó de eso el accidente.

Who was the genius director of photography who, not only had the most dizzying cuts to different cameras, let one crane and camera take the center at 1:04?
Al cantar dos notas con un intervalo muy grande le da tiempo para irse preparando para hacer el gran agudo,sabiendo en este tiempo si esta controlando bien su emision para llegar al agudo en que cada agudo debera swr nas alto.

Actually I found it interesting, at least the Valkyries are in the air. This camerawork is not very good, it doesn't show how high they actually were (it was definitely up there, you can see other videos on youtube of other angles in the audience)

I wouldn't go with asinine. Impractical at times for sure, but I definitely enoyed it a lot more than 99% of the "productions" I've seen for the ring cycle. I thought it was interesting to use new technologies to try to bring certain special effects from old legends to life. At least it wasn't science fiction themed, or some other "statement" the director claimed to make.

Asinine or not, at least Robert Lepage actually bothers to include horses in this scene, even if the "horses" are basically just planks going up and down to suggest Valkyries riding 'em. The Otto Shenk Metropolitan Opera production that this one replaced didn't even bother with the horses.
Could you kindly tell us who the singers are? It's rather impolite not to give them a credit.

From my untrained eye, these wooden planks don't look at all like horses. It's a bit difficult to have horses on stage, but I'd imagine they could've done it somehow with projections and without "the machine". The fact that "the machine" creaks and interferes with music is a lot worse though than any visual effects. Otherwise I'd imagine this production is better than most these days, but I preferred Otto Schenk's. I heard good things about the Seattle Ring, and clips here look amazing.
I like the visual idea. It connects the waves of the Rhine and riding above the clouds with horse images. But Otto Schenk - seriously?
