I created a second character with the intention of playing a "dark wizard" and was disappointed to discover that the most you can really do is occasionally be kind of a dick to people by choosing to keep useless quest items that don't do anything but take up space in your inventory. There's also quite a bit of tonal whiplash in trying to play an "evil" character, because the dialog and narrative will frequently work against you. For example, my "dark witch" shouldn't give a flying crap about animal abuse, but she'll frequently comment about how "the animals are safe now" after I clear a poacher camp.
Hogwarts Legacy really isn't a roleplaying game at all, so I don't see much reason to play multiple characters.

Yesss I wanted my Ravenclaw character to be a bitch lol but after finishing my Gryffindor character and starting a Slytherin one who I wanted to be a bit more mean than my Gryffindor but not as mean as my planned ravenclaw... I quickly realized that.. having a "bitch" ravenclaw wouldn't be possible :(

It’s a bit odd really that you have a bit more freedom to be scummy and learn the dark arts even betray Sebastian in his character quest but in Natty’s and Poppy’s you’re still considered a good person no matter what. Natty will still sacrifice herself for you and Poppy practically worships you even if you’re throwing the Avada Kedavra curse around or are mean to creatures. Even Professor Fig doesn’t seem to put out by your reckless behavior.
It’s a shame there couldn’t have been something more dynamic but I imagine the sheer scope of it was just too much so they simplified.

While modifying the save file, I found the game have moral system, but it had been scrapped due to lack of time or technical issues. This could have add additional challenge for players braking in to home to get the statue, similar to Bethesda Fallout games. The moral system can be added with mods for PC version.

I never had coins so I would do the quests and then tell the person I'd give them the item if they paid me. I thought my character was being mean but the people all agreed and thought it was fair me making them pay haha The only thing I noticed on my Ravenclaw playthrough and only playthrough was when I put the portrait of Sir somebody who was telling on students to the Headmaster in the library and whose second portrait was missing and used to be at the Three Broomsticks. When I found it I instead took him to the Hogshead because he was a social class snob who didn't want to be with lower class people. That silly little prank I pulled was then mentioned several times like people were gossiping about it and I was told it wasn't nice at all what I did to him haha So doing that prank was only one that had people gossiping about my antics.

I think that's kind of cool because you can just pretend you're homelander from the boys and then you can be like a a narcissist inside like deep down you don't give a crap about the animals but the perception and acceptance of others who think you're a hero

I loved the game, got to play out my childhood dream of being a wizard.
But honestly speaking, the game is not really replayable after the first run. Some people want to see the other house's common rooms and play through the few house exclusive side quests there are, but aside from unlocking all of the achievement trophies, you don't get anything else from it.
Even if you're evil/good, the choices you make matter very little, once you are done you can't interact with any of the npcs, no mini games (aside from the quiz and flying practice), no new game+ to get ready for your owls and move onto your 6th year, etc.
Completing the whole game again would just feel like a chore at that point, with having to find all the field guide pages, clothes, conjurings, etc.
But that's just me, I know a lot of people have no issues doing it all over again.

Combat can be somewhat diversified based on house if you spend talent points accordingly. You'll have a bunch of talent points let over but the game is easy enough that it doesn't really matter.
Hufflepuff - room of requirements points, this forces you to rely on plants and potions for combat
Gryffindor - core, this makes you rely on heavy defense and heavy hitting ancient magic
Slytherin - dark magic, forcing you to rely on optimizing curses
Ravenclaw - spell, having all the strongest combat spells
Don't put talent points into skills not associated with the house. It creates 4 different types of combat styles for the 4 different houses and makes the game a bit more challenging. Any character can put points into stealth, spell slots and health potions.

I'd recommend doing at least 2 playthroughs, for the exact reasons mentioned, - first I played as "me", a good Slytherin witch, oblivious as to what was about to happen so making the closest choices to the ones I'd make irl, and the second as a bad Hufflepuff wizard who chooses the other dialogue option I didn't get to see previously.
I didn't 100% the game both times, which was a great decision as achievement-chasing would have tired me out. Recently I started my 3rd Gryffindor playthrough, but that's just because I absolutely love this game and can't really part with it, so I'm making my way through this playthrough slowly

I'm kinda split on replaying, on one hand lot of the story and side quests are pretty meh and it would feel like a chore to go through them again, on the other hand there is decent amount of unique stuff to each of the houses, didn't even know there's Azkaban so that's cool. Right now I'm just enjoying flying around and fighting random enemies that pop out underneath me.

My Gryffindor was the classic brave and honorable good guy who loves breaking school rules, my Slytherin is actually well intentioned but has a bit of curiosity for power whilst also not wanting to break school rules, I'm planning to have my Hufflepuff be super good, follows rules, and just wants to help everyone, while I want my ravenclaw to be selfish and thirsty for knowledge and power, no matter at what cost...
But tbh I don't know if all the tedious stuff like finding pages, accioing books, finding all the keys and months and demiguis statues are actually worth replaying :( I've finished my Gryffindor playthrough and currently doing my Slytherin and honestly I'm a bit bored...

2:52 Wisdom isn't just for Ravenclaw. Grace Pinch-Smedley is proof of it. Although: It is easy to suspect that she, like James Potter (eldest son of Harry), went to Slytherin, while the rest of her family was in a different house.
The classic case was Neville Longbottom. He wanted to be in Hufflepuff given his timid nature and his love for herbology. The Sorting hat sees his potential as a brave man.

Apparently, if you say for Arguments sake you did ''The Polyjuice Plot'' Side quest, then Realised you missed a load of Treasure, once you've done all the Other Quests.. and as long as you don't over right that Previous File you saved, you can Literally ''Go Back in time'' Do the Quest again, and this time Collect all the loot you missed the Last time you played that part, and correct it.. then, once done, you can then Literally go ''Forward in time'' to your Last saved File, then you don't have to worry about the Loot you Missed as you already picked it up when you travelled Backwords lol..

I absolutely loved my playthrough, but replayability is severely lacking. Games like Skyrim have such incredible replayability because it leaves room for you to tell your own story. While Hogwarts doesn't lend itself to the freeform factions, something similar could be done with student relationships and alternate quest paths. Plus giving each house its own quest line would be nice too.
I really hope they follow up on the success, because this game could be so much more.

I bought the PS5 solely to play this game. Finished it and sold the PS5. Honestly, it's an amazing game, but there's very little replay value once you're done with the main story line and main quests, and did some exploring. Unfortunate. If they had done it differently they could've made a game that would be worth playing 4 times, one in each House. Maybe the sequel. Still very much worth playing it once tho.

1 and done. A couple 100% done and then uninstalle, they could have really cleaned up with this game, releasing the rest of the map.. Dlc. Weekly and monthly events. Making changes to the map and adding other whole big maps. Specifically to do with moving on to year 6 and 7.
Hogwarts could probably have 3-4 real years of content with a road map.
Then a new game set in London with the ministry and adding a whole other play threw as bad guy. Possibly online play pvp in a open world good vs bad. Something like assassins creed meets watch dogs type open world.
But instead we got one story and maybe 60-70 hours to complete story and map. Be it a very good game. Could use more too it then what it is.. Feels like it was unfinished with things cut up.
Edit : I did make a slitheren house whore though just for the lolz

  • @Javy_7213
    @Javy_7213 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Have a couple of issues with the game and its replayability:
Main story line was very underwhelming considering the build-up of the opening scenes
Side quests felt more like chores rather than interesting sub-plots that contributed to the main story
Character storylines were boring and didn't grant us any additional abilities, apart from Sebastian Sallow's. Poppy could have taught us how to care for beasts and Natsai could have taught us to become an Animagus.
You had to explore and find decorations for the Room of Requirement, forcing so much re-decorating
Currency system is kind of pointless because there's almost nothing to buy
There's no real "Hogwarts Experience" regarding classes, extracurriculars, etc.
The common room is pointless.. No house specific cut-scenes. There's no decorative ability or mini-games like Wizard's chess or gob stones.
Capturing beasts just allowed some bonus points on gear but it soon becomes pointless when finding better gear
The whole "choose what kind of wizard you want to be" narrative was pointless because there's no morale system or significant story change
    No quidditch.... Come on....
No House Points system that actually reflected your decisions
Hidden caves loot was always rubbish
    Way too many Merlin Trials
Clearing poacher/goblin camps was pointless because they'd be guarded again 5 mins later.
No experience with Dementors and our unique Patronus
Apart from Ominis and Sebastian, every character was so boring
Villains lacked any depth to their character with intricate back-stories
Keeper's trials were a drag. The only cool one was at Gringotts. Why not have us visit other iconic locations such as Azkaban or the Ministry of Magic
In short, this game focused on quantity over quality making me feel like I was running errands half the time. There's very little to no nostalgia for real Harry Potter fans and the main quest along with characters and personal choice options being subpar.
That being said, best Harry Potter game we've ever had.
