Avalanche did a brilliant job bringing this castle to life in game, wasn't until my 2nd playthrough I really stopped to appreciate all the subtleties throughout Hogwarts.
@@sorntrash mixed bag, I learn the layout of hogwarts really well and fell like a student slowly learning its nooks and crannies but as such I feel might be TOO familiar with it now
I saved gryffindor for last after trying out all the other houses. Gotta say, it feels like home. Previous play throughs; I rushed the game without a “ student schedule” . Now, I role play. Every morning I go to the great hall for breakfast and do classes/ side quests after that. Hogwarts legacy 2 bout to slap
Played as a Slytherin, I didn't exactly had a schedule because there aren't many lessons to attend and you can't even eat in the great hall, but after a day spent in school or outside one thing I always did was go back to the common room to sleep, one time I saw the giant squid outside the windows just chilling its tentacles at night, it was amazing
@@the_sam_strong when I played as a slytherin, a schedule didn’t work for me. Sneaking out at night; heading to the forbidden forest to level up was mandatory. I rarely got sleep, so I completely get you. Slytherin always up to no good. That squid showing up at night must be a sight to see. It’s rare.
Wonderful to see fans enjoying the hard work of the castle team! Also, you may want to note that the game is set in the 1890's, and so that's part of why some things are different from the movies and books. The team aimed to use only materials and technologies available to the time while still tracking carefully to all the lore requirements. Of course, some nods were made to the movies, but the team tried not to do anything anachronistic. For example, there's no whomping willow in the game because the lore says it wasn't planted until the 1970's.
Seeing Hogwarts for the first time in game was nothing short of magical. I’m on my second play through, and still discover things that I hadn’t seen before.
Except for the minor little problem of rubbish bins that look like my rolling trash can in the centaur hallway - pretty sure 1890 didn't have rubbish bins like that, but, hey, maybe they did and I just haven't seen any signs of it.
It’s pretty good but too me the corridors are too linear the most time. There should be more opportunities to turn left or right or change the level in the building. Too often you have to pick the one available route to navigate to a specific location. Especially the great staircase is such a missed opportunity for a more complex architecture.
Avalanche made an incredible castle and game that i 100%ed on both ps4 and ps5. However, I found it so weird that from all that work to create such an amazing castle, they made us leave it for soo much of the time🤷🏻♂️ I would have liked to go through a full year of classes which would have been so amazing
They did SUCH an amazing job with the castle. Its absolutely massive. Honestly they should have just made teh game focused on the castle, lake, hogsmeade village & station quidditch area and the forbidden forest, as I REALLY didn't care for any of the other areas. It was all generic and redundant on the flip side on my 2nd playthrough my kid was named Sebastian Sallow and he was in Slytherin. He looks and sounds EXACTLY like SS and I dressed him the same. The cut scenes are hilarious
The castle is a masterpiece in itself. The castle is completely modeled from head to toe, with every door leading to a room. This alone is monumental task, ignoring the fact that it is filled with lore, secrets, stuff to find. The fact that they took on the task to completely model it is why it seems like it fixes so many issues from the films - Because the entire thing is freely explorable by the player, the layout and scale has to make logical sense. I'd even go as far to say that the Hogwarts Legacy castle should just be the official canon castle and that all new media should be based around it.
The castle is so underutilized in the game it's almost a crime. You put all this massive effort into a grand castle just to have your game (which is named after the castle) mostly take place in hamlets that aren't even canon to the series. It's basically a very pretty prop.
What we all wanted was a cosy, immersive Hogwarts life sim, where you can roleplay as a Hogwarts student, following a timetable, going to lessons, earning or losing house points, playing (or watching) quidditch, and reading lore from books (like in the Elder Scrolls series). Not even joking, I would totally sit through a bunch of history of magic lessons, and write out homework essays for the AI teacher to grade, etc... Maybe since AI is getting better, an experience like this will be possible soon?
@@itsfreaktv7241 You underestimate how many Harry-Potter obsessed millennials there are, as well as how popular the cosy life-sim genre is right now. And Baldur's gate 3 proved that audiences are open to deep, complex roleplaying mechanics. Not everything has to be generic, mindless, spammy, action adventure games.
My only nitpick is even though it's not meant to be movie Hogwarts I wish there were the Gloucester Cathedral hallways (troll Hallway scene, original fat lady location, enemies of the heir beware, Snape confronting Draco) in this just because they are beautiful
Thanks! I didn't knew what felt off with this version of hogwarts but that's definitely it! That's why it felt incomplete even thought there's tons off details, I didn't recognize it much beside the obvious rooms, it seems as if you walk in a random castle and suddenly you enter a room from the movies.
I’d agree. Those corridors are missing and I’d also love if Ravenclaw common room was in the central tower, above the central hall with the fountain. You can’t actually access that area with the big windows in game, and in the other wikis and research I did for my own Hogwarts, almost everyone assumed/agreed their common room was in that tower. Wonder why they changed it. Maybe there was something from the book I’m not remembering that made them feel it was there, idk.
I basically just head-cannon all the differences as "they used magic later to change the castle/grounds for whatever reason." I mean it is set over 110 years before the events of the books after all. And some parts of the castle like to change themselves, the Grand Staircase does it constantly.
The castle was cool, but the lack of interacting with the students was a major problem for me. I know its a lot less realistic and accurate, but the hogwarts from the first 3 pc harry potter games is for me the best (but it could be nostalgia speaking)
I agree. A significant amount of dialogue for all NPC’s would go a long way, and then the option to duel or play wizards chess with some of them. Maybe Legacy’s own card game would be cool as well.
I love the exterior but hate how clean and palace/museum-like the interior looks. Maybe Im too attached to the Order of the Phoenix castle based on the movies. Great video though!
Yeah, you can definitely feel it in some parts, like the Central Hall (the room with the fountain outside of the library). It kind of feels like a train station haha
@@damgful Fair enough not everyone needs to like the same thing. There's parts of the design I don't like such as that big wood corridor below the entrance to the headmasters quarters with just one room. Just saying I think the decor is a design choice for the period and the headmaster given things like the instraments are all gone by Harry's time along with a lot of the gilt.
@@Senkoau It does make sense and I appreciate it if it's intentional. I'm just a bit tired of, just because Harry's story is over, every current adaptation of that world trying to stray as far away as possible from the setting and characters I care about. That's the reason I would prefer a readaptation of the books in videogame form. I want to see the Whomping Willow, Burrow and iconic places like that without it feeling forced.
everyone is forgetting this is not the movie Hogwarts and is based on a different time-period so things like decor and some of structure probably changed by the time the movie Hogwarts came around
Thank you, that means so much to me! Working on a new video, but having some trouble finding time due to real life obligations. But I’m trying to keep working on it whenever I can. Things should clear up a little bit more for me in the coming weeks though, so I should have more free time :)
The Quidditch Pitch is only “away from Hogwarts” in the 4th movie. In the books and other movies it’s much closer to Hogwarts, as Harry can see it from his window at Gryffindor Tower in the book and in the movies it’s near the Owlery. It’s a bit far in the movies of Stone and Chamber but in Goblet it’s literally on another mountain. Rest of the movies it seems much closer though.
@@patyos2 I’m pretty sure it’s canon that Rowena Ravenclaw made the grand staircase and kinda just magic’d it into existence (if not then whatever I don’t care 😭) so I suppose Dumbledore could easily do that for all the little changes with help from McGonogall or something.
Absolutely amazing video! Really liked it, great job. Hope it gets more recognition. I’ve got a couple of things to say. Hogwarts Legacy is my most anticipated game ever. I’ve been keeping up with all the new things we’ve been getting, from the early leaks in 2018 to the first launch trailer and even ASMR videos. I absolutely love this game and I can’t wait to replay it on the new PC I’m getting in April. Yeah… I’ve been playing this game on Low-Medium settings, with upscaling, usually at 24fps… I’m extremely excited about experiencing this game in its full glory. Hogwarts is the best thing Avalanche Software has done with the game. It’s perfect and it’s finally a walkable Hogwarts in a video game, and it’s crazy that it all connects when you are walking through it. My 2017 self wouldn’t believe that I now know how to walk around Hogwarts by heart without using a minimap. What I would like to point out is the common rooms. Obviously, they are amazingly done, BUT. In Hogwarts, there are 70 students for one house (5 girls and 5 boys for 1 year). That means there should be 14 dormitories in each common room. If someone counted, I don’t think there are exactly 14 dormitories. And the bathrooms. From what I know, Ravenclaw common room has bathrooms for each gender, however, Gryffindor common room has bathrooms for ONLY GIRLS. Boys can’t access the bathrooms? Hmm. Great Hall is actually bigger in the game, in my opinion. There is more room on the left and right (with the fireplaces and carpets, etc.) and there is more room in the High Table section. I love how they made the castle have sections that are from different eras. Like the dark arts tower may resemble the Renaissance era, when they were making the castle feel more modern at that time. The dungeons may resemble the Middle Ages era and so on. I love walking around Hogwarts. There’s finally a video game where you can do that. That’s amazing. 1:12 Look how massive the castle looks from this view. That is beautiful. And that is just Hogwarts, I could go on for hours about the areas surrounding Hogwarts and Hogsmeade. I look forward to more of your Hogwarts Legacy videos. Thanks if you read all of that :D
Same here, the anticipation I had for this game was insane, the most hyped I’ve ever been for a video game release! Awesome to hear that you’re getting a new PC, I can tell you that when you’re able to replay the game with the settings turned up, it’s going to be like playing it for the first time again. Of course there are some details that are a bit missing (like you described), but overall they did such a wonderful job. You can really tell that they love Hogwarts and wanted to do it justice. Appreciate the kind words a lot!
The castle in Hogwarts Legacy is an architectural marvel. Its simply wondrous to behold, and I so enjoy just wandering around and taking in the sights and sounds. This game is incredible.
i'm not a big harry potter fan, but the castle and the village hogsmead impressed me for how many unique objects they have. in most big games after a hundret hours you'll notice how often you came across the same building, chairs ect. and while obviosly hogwards legacy does run into this problem aswell, the amount of truly unique models and objects you see designed for specific shops or castlerooms is astounding. just run into the candy shop and count the dirrfent items your character picks up to eat. in most games you'd only get either the character eating ghostfood or have at maximum 3 diffrent fooditems.
Agree! The exploration and scenery alone makes it one of my favorite games ever. I actually liked the professors a lot. After you’ve finished all your classes you can go back and talk to them. They tell more about their backstories and they ask the player what they’d like to do in the future. I loved those bits, because I ended up relating a lot to Ronen and Sharp. Wonderfully written, lots of interesting information conveyed, despite the relatively small amount of screen time they’re given. 100% what I wanted from a HP game.
With the Fobidden Forest I think it’s because the Forbidden Forest area to the West of the Castle on the map other side of the mountains is not accessible ingame as it’s out of bounds which would be closer to Hagrids Hut location as all that area out of bounds on the map would also be part of the Forbidden Forest Basically if you go by Hogwarts Legacy map the Forbidden Forest area you see in the movies is mostly the forest to the West of Hagrids Hut and North of Feldcroft which is all Out Of Bounds ingame hidden by the mountains. Or it could also just be that Hagrids Hut was moved north of the castle to the West of the Forbidden Forest Flu Flame 100 years in the future where the Merlin Trial is ingame.
Excellent video. Although I've long finished the game I'm still continuing to play it. I'm 280 hours into it and I'm still finding things! And I am so rich!
I understand why they made it more like the movie version because that’s the look most people know but I was really hoping they would have done it up more like the books with more secret passages behind tapestries and such that actually go somewhere. There are hidden rooms in the game but not like the shortcuts mentioned in the books. Also the astronomy tower is in the wrong location. The main entrance as well as Hagrid’s hut can be seen from the top of the tower in the books. Also it’s described as having crenellated ramparts and is open to the sky not covered by a roof which makes zero sense on a tower meant for observing the heavens. But overall the Hogwarts Legacy castle is an amazing accomplishment. I’ve never seen a structure of such magnitude in a game that is fully explorable without noticeable load zones or black screens where you can just walk out the door into the open world. The level of detail inside the castle is really astounding.
I guess you can explain away "Hagrids" hut being moved by Hagrid closer to the forest because his love for the creatures. I mean with magic you can probably move a hut of that size fairly easy. And as far as the quiditch pitch I always imagined it being packable and moved around the area. I do agree that not enough happens in the castle mission and story wise. But also I wonder how much you can make in a castle that is narrow in a game focused around action combat with spells. Maybe they can play with that idea in the next game. I really hope it is a sequel and year 6 of our character.
They absolutely nailed the design of hogwarts. They had a pretty good story too (it would have been a bit silly to do all 7 years in one game and adults would struggle to identify with a 10 year old child). I do really wish they knew how big of a success it would be so theyd cut less content and worked on alternate stories. Hopefully they reuse the bulk of the castle in the second game so they can put that love and attention to detail elsewhere.
@@cc3 I believe that they will do a really good job with the 2nd game. They’ve got a great foundation now, and have had a good amount of time to look at feedback online on what to change/improve. Let’s hope they live up to the expectations! :)
My biggest issue with the map is the location of the Forbidden Forest. As you pointed out, it's supposed to be next to the keeper's hut, not just outside Hogsmeade.
Love how it looks. I just don’t really like how he’s kind of on the left of the screen instead of in the center with the camera angle directly behind harry
It's a good castle, but it's far from perfect. There are many interpretations (which are not necessarily mistakes) that unnecessarily enlarge some spaces, and others that reduce important areas. many corridors lead to nothing. And for game design reasons the overall space of the castle has been greatly reduced. However, the aesthetics are well done, even if I personally don't like the Victorian style of some interiors, and the division of the two wings of the castle is particularly interesting. I also appreciated some purely aesthetic details such as leaving Hagrid's hut in the schoolyard, but also adding a reference to the one in the third film. The thing that I regret most is that the castle does not offer the labyrinthine feeling it should have, and its complete exploration lasts only a few hours. I would have liked to see a school full of hidden passages and secret doors instead of straight corridors. But I also understand the important needs of a video game and most likely, a castle as I would like it would not have been as appreciated as this one.
The castle is amazing, but I wish it felt a bit more like Hogwarts and the world of Harry Potter. Why can’t I interact with anything? I’m a student so why aren’t there more classes even if just very simple activities. Why is potion making so simple and not at all described in the books? Why can I wander around at just with no consequences? The answer to some of these is that it’s just a game, but I want to be immersed in the world and story. I wanted to live my own Harry Potter book but all the whimsy was totally gone by a lame story. Can’t even tell you anything that happened. Biggest disappointment of the game for me.
Something that allways stuns me is the woping willow as where it is in chamber of secrets and prisoner of azkaban, in chambers it seems to be on leveled ground and in prisoner it seems to be on a slope. Same with hagrids hut, in Philosopher and Chambers the ground is less defined and it's next to the forest. I really think Hagrids should be next to the forest as it is in prisoner. Prisoner and forward hogwarts is just more defined and a good base for the game
Hagrid's Hut is close to the forest, well... A forest. There are 2 huts in the game. One smaller one close to the lake, then a larger one closer to the woods and Quidditch Pitch. The ONLY thing I don't like in this Hogwarts is the Grand Staircase.
I would say that EA did a reasonably good job with OOP as well. I remember being lost in that castle like it never happened in previous games. HL is super nice as well imo, and some of the differences it has from movies or books can be sort of justified. I see you, as many of others and me included, seem to have a nostalgic/belonging feeling just by walking in this digital world.
They are probably developing a sequence for Hogwarts Legacy since we didn't get any dlcs, but I really don't know how they intend to make a better Hogwarts
HL hogwarts while awesome does have some things you need to take into account: it doesent represent the hogwarts as we know it this was 100 years before harry potter the layout in the back of hogwarts (in the direction of hogsmeade if im not wrong) is innacurate should be on the opposite side of the bridge to hagrids hut aka if you would jump off the bridge connecting the viaduct entrance and the great hall the ruins dont match up with the hp hogwarts and they are fully intact and 100 years for something like that to break down? it should have been one third broken already but well id love to see a game with a mostly accurate to the time of harry potter hogwarts however since that wont happen anytime soon im making my own :D
The biggest problem I have is that despite it feeling alive it's not really yeah its full of students but you can't really interact with them sure there are some moments when you press a button but the general feeling is they are just there to fill the space ... Also I fell like they put to mutch into places outside Hogwarts and not in Hogwarts there are only two 2 secrets in Hogwarts castle also classes fell boring would it not be nicer if its not more like the old game .... its definitely not a perfect game but castle wise they did a great job
Hogwarts and Hogsmeade is where this game shines. You can tell that they put a lot of love into it. My only complaint is that the game forces you away from Hogwarts to explore an open world that has little to nothing to offer. It’s a generic open world game dressed up under the Harry Potter IP. It’s better than the HP games we all grew up on, but it’s far from what I was expecting.
This rocks alshamdullilah! [Pyrates - Command the crew, rule the seas] [There was once a time when greed and ambition reigned over the seas, when swords were always raised in the search for bounty - the era of the pirates] [The power of of the lord of the pyrates was beyond measure. More and more riches, more and more treasure, nothing and no one could escape the clutches of this fearful creature. And after their last raid, the pirates thought it was time to share the treasure.] - Listen to me, you little runts, the treasure is mine, only mine, and no one else will have it. Now take it far away where no soul can find it. If you fulfill my wish, you will be rewarded. But if any of you dares lay your grubby hands on one coin, just one, the most dreadful curse will fall upon you. Now, I'll be gone, but never forget my words. Or you will suffer for it. Get to work immediately! [And from the whale skeleton, the crew built a strange hull, covered by an unlikely membrane. There is no other ship on the surface of the water, like Dread Eye's Phantom, it sails when darkness reigns over the water and the thickest of fogs covers everything. - Set me free marauders, I will tell you nothing - You already know what will happen if we put you inside that, don't you? You worm. - I'd rather die than become a piece of meat like you. - Well then, tell us where the treasure is. - Alright. I'll tell you. The treasure is hidden in... Pyrates Cove. Hihihe - You heard him lazy bones, let's head to Pyrates Cove - Land Ahoy! - We've reached Pyrates Cove, get ready to land ya scoundrels! Follow me! Start looking for the treasure, search everywhere even in the most *redacted* corners - Cap'n there ain't nothin' on this island. That good-for-nothing skeleton lied to us. - Get out of here you wretched marauders, the treasure will be ours. - That's to be seen, let's take 'em - You low-down marauders [And the fierce pirates began their eternal fight for the lost treasure] [In their search for the treasure of the lord of the pyrates, the marauders came across skull haven. You hide the most coveted bounty, the treasure of the Lord of the Pyrates! Come on, take the boats and inspect each island you bunch of loafers!
- Captain, this is as empty as a skeleton's brain! - There's nothing here! - No sign of the treasure! Keep on searching you worthless bunch! Shiver me timbers. This has to be a trap, but who'd dare? - Gah! Get off our island, you pathetic human! - Don't be cowards, finish them off! - Haha! Take that! And that! - And that! - Men the cannons! Hahahaha! Swallow that you miserable lot! - Look over there, coming out of the fog! They're attacking! - C-Captain, it's, a *Redacted* ship. - Silence, men! Don't start with your pirate tales! [It was there, it looked like jaws, the ribs, bones.] - After them, skeletons! [The entire skeleton bewhale was manned by the fearsome skeleton crew.] - Shiver me timbers! It's those skeletons again. Ugh, the legend was true. The Lord of the Pyrates had left a curse of eternal punishment! - Who do you think you are, you living dead? You've gotten what you deserve! [Dread Eye's Phantom swallows its victims whole to produce the energy it needs to sail] - Men the cannons! Banish those soulless dogs to Davy Jones' locker! - Captain, the bombs don't do anything to them. We're no match for them! - Continue fighting! Nothing on the sea has ever been able to stop us! Or are you afraid? Attack! [The raging force of the marauders versus the mysterious power of the skeletons. Who would be the victor?] - Heheheheha! Do you really think you can defeat a skeleton? Hogwarts should be a blend of the movies. It’s just way to big and way to recognizable to make it not look like the movies. It should be at least 50/50. I was slightly disappointed with some of the changes. The great hall comes to mind. I was so looking forward to running around the changing stair cases like how they were depicted in the movies
I think they did an absolute amazing job but unfortunately the school is too small and underdeveloped inside as you can tell they tried compensating by just making big rooms. The placement of some things like the forbidden forest and landscape around the quidditch pitch was just a massive miss. The moving staircase sucks absolute ass with the spiral design
For all of my problems with this game, the castle is NOT one of them. Kudos to the developers for making the best ever video game Hogwarts. it really is fantastic. flying around the grounds in a broomstick and you have a nice tv/monitor…. it is breathtaking
While I wouldn't say this was the best game ever I think as a sandbox it was incredibly well executed especially for fans of the books or the movies. Some phenomenal details and unique events thrown in. The game itself did suffer the usual open world issue of too much world, too little content but it was still a great game surpassing what Ubisoft (for example) have ever managed to achieve in any of their titles. What made it more delicious was the "controversy" over the title and how dare the author dare speak her mind about women's rights and how negligible the performative protests and grandstanding reviews were on sales. There is some sanity in the world.
Yo guys, I'm new to PS5 and new to this game. I felt it was all too easy and just watching endless cut scenes, untill I got to a boss that is so hard, I am fighting him 10 minutes and I fail every time. He takes minimum damage. Am I playing it wrong? I try to combos, but he has too much HP 😅
Yup, it's the best building I've ever seen in a game. It's beautiful. Hand crafted with so much love and attention to detail. Too bad they constantly rip you out of it and too bad the story, characters, quests and combat are incredibly stale.
Weird sentiment but I wish the game were smaller. Just Hogwarts and the grounds as depicted here. Then the story could flesh out the castle more, take more time to encourage deeper exploration.
I do not think that Hogwarts like made here is nearly perfect. Actually there must be much more rooms. For example if you go one (rather small) square tower, you notice that there are 4, but you can only enter 1. The other 3 have no entrance. If you want to compare it how it would be, you could try the minecraft "flo network" map. That is how I think the layout should really be. Ofc however the details of single rooms in hogwarts legacy is higher. If you still need video ideas, I think like a comparison between the two maps would be interesting.
The layout of Hogwarts castle from the game, although iconic, does not reflect the descriptions from the books. It is impossible to make a faithful adaptation of the Harry Potter series based on Hogwarts from movies or Hogwarts Legacy.
This video isn't about how book accurate the castle is, it's just about how good this version of Hogwarts is (in my opinion). Like you say, making a book accurate Hogwarts is pretty much impossible and honestly it wouldn't be that great of a Hogwarts, if you ask me. This Hogwarts takes some of the best elements we've seen and combines them, while adding their own touch.
I'm sorry but they didn't fix the bathroom by moving it. They didn't have a structured floor system to begin with so who is to say what the second floor even is and also they just stuck crap in here at random. Great hall size looking good from the outside but small inside is a great indicator that they scaled the whole thing down to make it a less daunting task. Why does only ravenclaw and gryffindor girls get a dorm bathroom. Why is there not enough rooms for ravenclaw and gryffindor students? Why does the flying teacher not get a room? Why is the spire over the library just an empty shell? No secret passages all over leading to other parts of the school. They could have done so much more but instead we got a ridiculously huge map with hardly anything in it
At first I loved the interior but I quickly came to dislike it. It was just way too posh if that’s the right word? I wasn’t a fan of all the rich decoration and statues etc. believe it or not I wanted a rather rusty old looking castle not a fancy private school looking like it’s only meant for rich students.
No that’s another hut, but it seems inspired by his hut in The Philosopher’s Stone. The hut that I showed is what will become Hagrid’s hut in the future. They probably made both though to try and combine the grounds from the movies.
The interior of hogwarts legacy is drastically different to that of the hp movies. “The grand staircase” for one has absolutely no risk of the stairs you are on shifting to a different path. The “squid” shows up once and that’s it. Idk personally I think this version of hogwarts is just a desperate cash grab. I love this universe don’t get me wrong but I honestly feel like This HP universe just doesn’t even hold a light up to the OG HP universe
After about 30 minutes I quit the game. Not only because of the performance problems but the fact half the population are not British in 19th century Britain. I felt like I was in a fake version of Hogwarts made up by some progressive person in San Francisco.
Was hogwarts brit-exclusive? There's only like 7 or 8 wizard schools in the world it makes sense some people from abroad decide to send their kid to not the most close to home. Plus, colonies.
@@kenzashenna The one companion was from Uganda. Uganda wasn't a country in the time period of the game. Look up pictures of schools in Britain at the time they were British. They did it that way for the ESG points.
Sorry but its a mediocre game, hogwards legacy rely on collectibles and doing revelio again and again Story is nonexistent and boring The RPG elements is lacking a lot : don't have any karma system ( with the house and points ) You don't spend time in your house which felt wasted When you speak with NPC you have 2 choice of dialogue when you Can feel they wanted to incoporate a karma system but decided to change the plan No minigame such as wizard chess Don't have any stakes when its come to using forbidden spells in school 😂 Hogwards student can go freely at night ?? Where are the guards / aurore Lany fetch quests One of the laziest level design when its come to the 4 dungeons : two fo the same with the same puzzles and golem fights 3rd dungeon is the only original one with us playing with the deadly hollow And the last one is a insult you just unlock a new beast when you already have the hippogriffe or your broom ,whats so point for the endgame ?? This IS extremely insulting when the main game proposed those four dungeons when you mostly do 3 and 2 of them are the same . Catching the beasts and all the custom stuffs in the room of requirement IS good but don't give you interesting things, didnt use any of those items expect health potion All the grip you unlocked like most rpgs using colors weapon/costume are used for aesthics reason but don't change really anything with your level . Good things : Most of your video IS about the art direction and the respect avalanche put on the lore and architecture at hogwards and i fully agree. Gameplay : Yes the game combat get more and more interesting the more you unlocked spells which make those fights more addictive especially if you combo combine them Npc side quests : Great mention for Sebastian, the two girls side quests were okay but sebastian story IS better overall plus you unlocked the forbidden spells but sad that you have no conséquences by using them. THATS it , hogwards legacy IS a mid game which lack of lot of things I don't hâte it and surely potterhead will love it but long term gamer will pass it
I agree with a lot of what you said, the game has a lot of flaws. I think it does a lot of things good too, and don't agree with everything you said, but I completely agree with the fact that there were a lot of missed opportunities for the RPG-elements & that the game has way too many repetitive things to do, such as all the collectibles. This video focuses on the actual Hogwarts itself though, which I think was amazing. They really understand the "buildings" to say, with Hogsmeade and Hogsmeade station for example as well. I'm currently working on a video tackling some of the more negative things about the game, which should be coming out (relatively) soon, haha. Thanks for your comment!
Avalanche did a brilliant job bringing this castle to life in game, wasn't until my 2nd playthrough I really stopped to appreciate all the subtleties throughout Hogwarts.
I played without mini map specifically to get the feeling of learning the halls of hogwarts
@@XxGamer42069xX how’d that go? I always ended up lost. 😅
Thanks for sharing, it’s awesome getting some insight into the castle teams’ minds! They did an absolutely great job, such a beautiful Hogwarts.
Except for the minor little problem of rubbish bins that look like my rolling trash can in the centaur hallway - pretty sure 1890 didn't have rubbish bins like that, but, hey, maybe they did and I just haven't seen any signs of it.
Yall guys didn’t get OP is the game developer lol
What avout Grindlewald?
It’s pretty good but too me the corridors are too linear the most time. There should be more opportunities to turn left or right or change the level in the building. Too often you have to pick the one available route to navigate to a specific location. Especially the great staircase is such a missed opportunity for a more complex architecture.
Avalanche made an incredible castle and game that i 100%ed on both ps4 and ps5. However, I found it so weird that from all that work to create such an amazing castle, they made us leave it for soo much of the time🤷🏻♂️ I would have liked to go through a full year of classes which would have been so amazing
Lots of well made game observations. For me the castle itself is easily worth the entire price on it's own.
Can't wait for the sequel ❤
I totally agree, the castle is just magnificent :)
They did SUCH an amazing job with the castle. Its absolutely massive. Honestly they should have just made teh game focused on the castle, lake, hogsmeade village & station quidditch area and the forbidden forest, as I REALLY didn't care for any of the other areas. It was all generic and redundant
on the flip side on my 2nd playthrough my kid was named Sebastian Sallow and he was in Slytherin.
Completely agree!
The castle is so underutilized in the game it's almost a crime.
You put all this massive effort into a grand castle just to have your game (which is named after the castle) mostly take place in hamlets that aren't even canon to the series. It's basically a very pretty prop.
Yeah, I agree, that’s one of the major issues with this game. They spent so much time on making the castle and then barely included it sadly.
@@OceanGateEngineer4HireWell, it definitely would be boring for 80% of the audience
@@OceanGateEngineer4Hire Baldurs Gate is not comparable to a fucking school simulation.
@@misterrider19it's obvious you just saw the movies, this Hogwarts is more accurate to the books
@@misterrider19 its book accurate hogwarts
very underrated video! keep up the good work
I'm looking forward to the sequel game so much. I can't wait to see how they expand on the castle's secrets.
Maybe Legacy’s own card game would be cool as well.
this must've been a lot of work. thanks for the great video!
Different era/aesthetic. The design fits in with the whole height of the British Empire extravagance in the 19th century.
@@Senkoau That's fine. I still don't like it.
This was the kind of video I was looking for at 2 AM in the night 😂.
Thanks for the nostalgic trip ❤
Glad to hear you enjoyed it! :)
Splendid video, you've done justice to the title!
Thank you man, really appreciate the support!
I probably spent 80% of my playtime just walking around Hogwarts. It was perfect.
everyone is forgetting this is not the movie Hogwarts and is based on a different time-period so things like decor and some of structure probably changed by the time the movie Hogwarts came around
I thought that was a really great point about the forest being moved. Great video! 👍
You presented the castle in a really insightful way, thank you!
great video, loved the vibe
Such a well-made video, thanks for sharing your insight!
Thank you for watching! :)
great video man, excited to see your future vids

Thank you, that means so much to me!
Working on a new video, but having some trouble finding time due to real life obligations. But I’m trying to keep working on it whenever I can. Things should clear up a little bit more for me in the coming weeks though, so I should have more free time :)
hey thanks for acknowledging how good they did do. vs what they didn’t do.
so tired of the negative
The Quidditch Pitch is only “away from Hogwarts” in the 4th movie. In the books and other movies it’s much closer to Hogwarts, as Harry can see it from his window at Gryffindor Tower in the book and in the movies it’s near the Owlery. It’s a bit far in the movies of Stone and Chamber but in Goblet it’s literally on another mountain. Rest of the movies it seems much closer though.
I feel like the Hogwarts staff and Dumbledore just likes moving things around each year which is the excuse for things changing locations
With the Fobidden Forest I think it’s because the Forbidden Forest area to the West of the Castle on the map other side of the mountains is not accessible ingame as it’s out of bounds which would be closer to Hagrids Hut location as all that area out of bounds on the map would also be part of the Forbidden Forest
Basically if you go by Hogwarts Legacy map the Forbidden Forest area you see in the movies is mostly the forest to the West of Hagrids Hut and North of Feldcroft which is all Out Of Bounds ingame hidden by the mountains.
Or it could also just be that Hagrids Hut was moved north of the castle to the West of the Forbidden Forest Flu Flame 100 years in the future where the Merlin Trial is ingame.
Great video!❤
Here before the video blows up!
Big xOna fan
Taklampan the GOAT!
It's in the running for the definitive Hogwarts. Everything is so lovingly crafted.
I loved the room of requirement!!
I'm no emotional person, but got emotional the moment I got to the castle.

Great video. Hopefully the show will have a similar layout
But I also understand the important needs of a video game and most likely, a castle as I would like it would not have been as appreciated as this one.
i like the think that since legacy takes place before the movies, that the world might’ve looked a bit different from when we see it in the movies
Now this video warrants a sub. 😁👍
Yeah the student experience is definitely lacking, hoping they change that for the next game.
I have a feeling the owlery in your game is larger than it is on mine.
1,2 babyyyyy!!!
it's super good. It's literally perfect.
I wish they made a 1st person option to really appreciate the castle.
Do what you do, do well 👏👏
The biggest thing I didnt like about the design is Hagrids hut.
I wish they took huge inspiration from the third movie.
I really hope they do where you can export your harry potter legacy story and import it to the new game
I’ve spent like 6 hours just walking through it 😭
Let's hope they just build upon the map and don't try to remake what already is perfect
They are probably developing a sequence for Hogwarts Legacy since we didn't get any dlcs, but I really don't know how they intend to make a better Hogwarts
HL hogwarts while awesome does have some things you need to take into account:
it doesent represent the hogwarts as we know it this was 100 years before harry potter
the layout in the back of hogwarts (in the direction of hogsmeade if im not wrong) is innacurate
should be on the opposite side of the bridge to hagrids hut aka if you would jump off the bridge connecting the viaduct entrance and the great hall
the ruins dont match up with the hp hogwarts and they are fully intact and 100 years for something like that to break down? it should have been one third broken already
but well id love to see a game with a mostly accurate to the time of harry potter hogwarts however since that wont happen anytime soon im making my own :D
2,1 babyyyyy!!!
The biggest problem I have is that despite it feeling alive it's not really yeah its full of students but you can't really interact with them sure there are some moments when you press a button but the general feeling is they are just there to fill the space ... Also I fell like they put to mutch into places outside Hogwarts and not in Hogwarts there are only two 2 secrets in Hogwarts castle also classes fell boring would it not be nicer if its not more like the old game .... its definitely not a perfect game but castle wise they did a great job
great review
Appreciate it!
[Pyrates - Command the crew, rule the seas]
[There was once a time when greed and ambition reigned over the seas, when swords were always raised in the search for bounty - the era of the pirates]
[The power of of the lord of the pyrates was beyond measure. More and more riches, more and more treasure, nothing and no one could escape the clutches of this fearful creature. And after their last raid, the pirates thought it was time to share the treasure.]
- Listen to me, you little runts, the treasure is mine, only mine, and no one else will have it. Now take it far away where no soul can find it. If you fulfill my wish, you will be rewarded. But if any of you dares lay your grubby hands on one coin, just one, the most dreadful curse will fall upon you. Now, I'll be gone, but never forget my words. Or you will suffer for it.
[The terrified crew set off to carry out their captains wishes. But in the end, greed took control. And the pyrates decided to disobey their captain, and enjoy the precious treasure for themselves.]
*Music*
[It was then that the worst of all imagineable things began to happen. The curse of the lord of thr pyrates became reality, the traitors were about to be trapped in the dark abyss. And the treasure was to remain hidden forever, becoming the most coveted legend of any pyrate.]
- We need a ship which is worthy of our invincible power, and at last, with this, we can build it. Get to work immediately!
[And from the whale skeleton, the crew built a strange hull, covered by an unlikely membrane. There is no other ship on the surface of the water, like Dread Eye's Phantom, it sails when darkness reigns over the water and the thickest of fogs covers everything. Like a genuine nightmare, they lay in wait without fearing anything because they are already dead.
The fierce marauders, always scheming for ways to find the treasure.]
*Music*
- Set me free marauders, I will tell you nothing
- You already know what will happen if we put you inside that, don't you? You worm.
- I'd rather die than become a piece of meat like you.
- Well then, tell us where the treasure is.
- Alright. I'll tell you. The treasure is hidden in... Pyrates Cove. Hihihe
- You heard him lazy bones, let's head to Pyrates Cove
- Land Ahoy!
- We've reached Pyrates Cove, get ready to land ya scoundrels!
Follow me!
Start looking for the treasure, search everywhere even in the most *redacted* corners
- Cap'n there ain't nothin' on this island. That good-for-nothing skeleton lied to us.
- Get out of here you wretched marauders, the treasure will be ours.
- That's to be seen, let's take 'em
- You low-down marauders
[And the fierce pirates began their eternal fight for the lost treasure]
[In their search for the treasure of the lord of the pyrates, the marauders came across skull haven. A bay protected by mysterious islands]
- Hmmm... maroon galley, mutiny isle, coffer trap. Hmmm... Hmmm, oh! And smuggler's fort, blimey, I found you at last.
[It was there, it looked like jaws, the ribs, bones.]
- After them, skeletons!
[The entire skeleton bewhale was manned by the fearsome skeleton crew.]
- Shiver me timbers! It's those skeletons again. Ugh, the legend was true. The Lord of the Pyrates had left a curse of eternal punishment!
- Who do you think you are, you living dead? You've gotten what you deserve!
[Dread Eye's Phantom swallows its victims whole to produce the energy it needs to sail]
- Men the cannons!
Who would be the victor?]
- Heheheheha! Do you really think you can defeat a skeleton?
[It was a losing battle and captain Marauder suddenly remembered the legend. The frightfull curse of the Lord of the Pyrates would take the treacherous pirates to the deepest abyss, turning them into skeletons and condemning them to a lifelong punishment.
[This is the greatest battle between Pyrates™, ever told. But the treasure is still intact. Forever...?
The fight continues in each and every corner of the seas. And perhaps someone will make a tantalizing discovery. Will it be the treasure of the Lord of the Pyrates?]

Sail sail by for a voyage true
'Till the treasure's ours, we shan't be through
It's a Pyrate's life we've taken to

But watch your back and horizon too
Past the ... because the fear is you 🎶
Hogwarts should be a blend of the movies.
Not a fan of the npc art style but they did a good job world building
My only issue is how they did the grand staircase otherwise it's a very beautiful castle
I think the interiors are way better than the movies. It feels much more how I imagined it. In the movies it feels like a somewhat empty stone castle.
Nice video! I was going to click off when I saw you had 20 subs but glad I didnt!
Thank you for watching! :)
This is my favourite depiction of Hogwarts. The movies were very inconsistent.
What boss is it?
one thing OotP did better was the interactions with students. After you complete everything its seems kinda lifeless especially at night
Did two playthrus 😊
I do not think that Hogwarts like made here is nearly perfect. Actually there must be much more rooms. For example if you go one (rather small) square tower, you notice that there are 4, but you can only enter 1. The other 3 have no entrance.
If you want to compare it how it would be, you could try the minecraft "flo network" map. That is how I think the layout should really be. Ofc however the details of single rooms in hogwarts legacy is higher.
If you still need video ideas, I think like a comparison between the two maps would be interesting.
I like it so far
Hagrid's hut is on the other side would the care of Magical Creatures class is.
No that’s another hut, but it seems inspired by his hut in The Philosopher’s Stone. The hut that I showed is what will become Hagrid’s hut in the future. They probably made both though to try and combine the grounds from the movies.
@@xonaggI like to think he just moved huts 😂
Grandstairs is a disaster for fellow Hogwarts fans
Are you swedish?
Maybe Latvian
The interior of hogwarts legacy is drastically different to that of the hp movies. “The grand staircase” for one has absolutely no risk of the stairs you are on shifting to a different path. The “squid” shows up once and that’s it. Idk personally I think this version of hogwarts is just a desperate cash grab. I love this universe don’t get me wrong but I honestly feel like This HP universe just doesn’t even hold a light up to the OG HP universe
Harsh but true
@@vivek27789 honest but true. 99% of the internet these days are all simps and shills. Never see honesty.
Revelio every 2 seconds 😅
The world is beautiful but the game is boring as hell 😔
100% agreed.
This game has fully renewed my love for Hogwarts.
the game is really mediocre...they tried to please everyone and failed, but many people use there Harry Potter glasses and so they are blind
Can I slow down the voice. He talks so fast.
You can set the playback speed to 0.75, 0.5, 0.25
After about 30 minutes I quit the game.
Harsh but true
Sorry but its a mediocre game, hogwards legacy rely on collectibles and doing revelio again and again
Story is nonexistent and boring
The RPG elements is lacking a lot :
don't have any karma system ( with the house and points )
You don't spend time in your house which felt wasted
When you speak with NPC you have 2 choice of dialogue when you Can feel they wanted to incoporate a karma system but decided to change the plan
No minigame such as wizard chess
Don't have any stakes when its come to using forbidden spells in school 😂
Hogwards student can go freely at night ?? Where are the guards / aurore
Lany fetch quests
One of the laziest level design when its come to the 4 dungeons : two fo the same with the same puzzles and golem fights
3rd dungeon is the only original one with us playing with the deadly hollow
And the last one is a insult you just unlock a new beast when you already have the hippogriffe or your broom ,whats so point for the endgame ??
This IS extremely insulting when the main game proposed those four dungeons when you mostly do 3 and 2 of them are the same .
Catching the beasts and all the custom stuffs in the room of requirement IS good but don't give you interesting things, didnt use any of those items expect health potion
All the grip you unlocked like most rpgs using colors weapon/costume are used for aesthics reason but don't change really anything with your level .
Good things :
Most of your video IS about the art direction and the respect avalanche put on the lore and architecture at hogwards and i fully agree.
Gameplay :
Yes the game combat get more and more interesting the more you unlocked spells which make those fights more addictive especially if you combo combine them
Npc side quests :
Great mention for Sebastian, the two girls side quests were okay but sebastian story IS better overall plus you unlocked the forbidden spells but sad that you have no conséquences by using them.
THATS it , hogwards legacy IS a mid game which lack of lot of things
I don't hâte it and surely potterhead will love it but long term gamer will pass it
I agree with a lot of what you said, the game has a lot of flaws.
Pls do (is there even an Option? 😅🫣) First Person View because These Characters Look terrible 🥱🤭💀
Haha, there is no first person available right now unfortunately.
@@xonagg thanks! Great to know, now I don't have to buy ☺️
