- The Beatles visited Didsbury Studio Centre in Manchester on 1 September 1963 to record an appearance on ABC Television’s Big Night Out.
The Beatles rehearsed during the day, and in the evening were filmed miming to three songs: ‘From Me To You’, ‘She Loves You’, and ‘Twist And Shout’.
The show, hosted by Mike and Bernie Winters, also included guests Billy Dainty, Patsy Ann Noble, and Lionel Blair. It was filmed in front of a studio audience of 600 people and the first broadcast from 7.40-8.30pm on 7 September 1963 across most of the ITV network.
_________
An upgrade of this show was posted recently, but it was run through Ai, luckily @edgarferrer8084 de-ai-ed it, if you will.
I decided to sync this video with the bands live performance at the Liverpool Empire Theater to give it a live feel, I think it turned out well, hope you enjoy!
Reuploaded due to sync issues
Let it be clear!
The Beatles were miming to the studio recordings of the songs in the unedited version of this video! I just added the live audio to give it a, well, live feel!
you super threw me off there it had all the indications of a mime but live sound(??!) Very nice job syncing it i must say thanks for posting
Good job... that's a fun time.😀
Спасибо Хорошая импровизация!!!
It was easy to guess it was mimed. No guitar cords. No guitar amps. No microphones. Ringo's hi-hat cymbals didn't move. The drum set and cymbals were real, but faked playing. Maybe there was no audience.
Live singing over the instrumental backing tracks. Solved a lot of the problems of setting up amps, micing them and getting a good balance. Better than a full on mime.
100 years will go by and The Beatles will still be remembered. I saw them TWICE in person at two of their concerts in Chicago when I was a kid!! BEST BAND ON THE PLANET!!!!🌎 Peace and Love ☮️❤️✌️
Mozart, Beethoven)) are remembered for ages, why not
I'd say,,,in the univers!
Myslím si totéž, Beatles jsou jako Mozart, nikdy se na ně nezapomene, protože se budou rodit další a další generace, kteří je budou poslouchat ❤
You meant 500 years right?
@@johnbuono9475 You are soooo right!!!!
This is 5 months before the Ed Sullivan Show. By the time The Beatles got to the US, they were a razor sharp band.
Yes, but with all respect they were already a really tight unit by the end of 1960 and certainly were in '61. Ringo's arrival in '62 completed an unbeatable lineup.
Awesome always ***
It appears a that way, however there is more to this than you know.
They were already razor sharp. Hamburg and the Cavern saw to that.
They were razor sharp 3 years before this in Hamburg
I was Nine Years old when this was broadcast..I can still see the teenage girls that lived next door screaming at the one Tv that we had gone to share.
60 years on...I still find myself tapping my feet to these tunes..
Knowing what an impact they would go on to have, on music, fashion, and culture, all around the world, leading, ultimately, to George and John's tragic deaths..
It will never happen again..
Yeah, I was 10 then.
The next year 1964 was when they came here to Australia.
The reactions to them by girls in our school just confirmed what we young boys probably thought, i.e. girls were weird creatures who could never be understood !
😅😅😅😅😅.
I'm also ten year old

Джордж ушел не трагически вроде...😮
Me too
The fab four were cheeky quick witted, loved playing together, loved entertaining. They were all talented musicians, very creative songwriters with phenomenal energy in their songs. There were lots of bands that were also great talents, but in the end it comes back to the Beatles. Just incredible. Wow!
Well said!
Great video. Pretty well synced up. I couldn’t tell the difference. One thing about the Beatles was that even there “simple” little love songs were works of art. And, not so simple. They were well honed musicians that played their music with a fun upbeat attitude. They are absolutely unsurpassed and unbeatable.
Nothing you said was wrong in the slightest bit.
Thanks for watching!
@@LongTallSally1963 Thank you. 👍👍 ✌❤🙂
Wow, the live sound is just awesome. The screaming is ridiculous! Love hearing them sing and play. It sounds like they're struggling to be heard over the screaming. You can feel the excitement that must have been felt at their lives shows. They were such a tight band.
Эл.гитары без шнуров? Поют без микрофонов под носом? 100% "живая" запись! Заметьте 1963г. Пиздоболы!
The screaming is the reason why they quit playing live. John Lennon hated it.
I have a memory sent when little from another universe. " i cant believe this is over". You will never have the full beatles and the 60s back
Just keep the memories alive in ur mind n you'll be fine😜🤗
Guitars not plugged😮
@@KevinHobbs-bm1np I'm not so sure they would be has big as back then all those years ago now, because they don't write good catchy sensible songs these days, and it's a different music world now, they were off there time,a boomers group, that made it big.and a big part of there stuff has dated, like me... 😲Wow. Wireless guitar connection in 1963👍👍👍
P.S. joke.
Yeah musta been wifi
Nah, Bluetooth
A very early Nady wireless system!
Invisible mics too!

Hmmm… Sept. '63. I was 12, growing up in Ohio, USA. Little did I know in two months the world would change forever - Kennedy assassination, then the Beatles invasion, then Vietnam, et al. What a world, what a world!!
I know, right? Those were some good and bad times. John lennon, sure had a good voice though😊
I thought I saw everything with them, but I never saw this video. Very cool.
Glad you enjoyed it!
All four of the Beatles had their own talents. Ringo on the drums, John with his raspy voice, Paul with his smooth voice and writing abilities. But George was by far the best guitarist. John strumed chords, Paul played bass, but George was very talented on the guitar and gave the Beaeles thier special sound.
John supported George on lead guitar and produced the brilliant driving rythms , singing and playing at the heart of the energy! He played the plucky intro on I feel fine.
@@stephendraper789 John strumed chords. Geroge gave the Beatles that special sound.
@@genegoodwin8925 John played the brilliant intro to I feel fine . 'STRUMING CHORDS' ? No part of the Beatles sound was ordinary.
There's always Beatles revival every now and then since then , best band ever
Check out the FabFour absolutely amazing

I prefer Led Zeppelin, but the Beatles were my first favorite band
Beyond the glorious music they gave endless joy to the world…and continue to do so.
They are so young here they look Iike they are actually enjoying the fame.
That would change later.
I’m 77 years old now and have had the Beatles in my life since the beginning as a teen
There will never be another band like them their history is fascinating , I was so hurt when
John was murdered It changed me
@@ronwood7029 I was shocked back in 1980,but I realise over the years John wouldn't have liked the world today.Political correctness would have been uncomfortable to him.
As a 7 year old in Liverpool in 63, me & my mates used to sing " if there's anything that you want " fish & chips " if there's anything I can do' put salt & vinegar on them.😊 happy days.
The first time I i heard them I jumped. So next day found myself a guitar shop. Played it
That’s turning a worldwide hit local! Good on you, mate! Except that you’ve made me ravenous for fish and chips at midnight. (Not your fault.)
Such a great song. Reminds me of the last dance for those of us graduating high school in 1974. I have fond memories of both teachers and fellow pupils. Sadly, many have since passed away. And at the end of the day, all we are left with are our memories. I hope you all have good memories to look back on.
the first really unplugged gig. even without mics. Fab.
Its mimed.
It must be a live recording that they're miming to, because it doesn't sound like the studio recordings.
@BullToTheShit read the pinned comment and description!
@@LongTallSally1963 Good job! You had my head spinnin' with curiosity.
Paris '64 / Liverpool '63 work well syncing this show with, sounds great!
Sounds great because I used your remix :p
Qué bien tocaba la guitarra George! Es impresionante como rellena de armonía musical lo que no podía hacer John
That was the best quality footage of this performance that I have seen. Thanks for posting it.
Thank you! And thanks for watching!
Clever editing for Twist and Shout. Pretty neat to see that the group remained at the same speed as the official recording, some other bands won't keep up on the same speed. Ringo was right "I am the F'n click track!"
I'm glad to see you comment!
Watched your videos a few years back and got me into trying to post neat videos like this!
He's a really good air drummer.
One of those few UK tv shows where they mimed. Fortunately they performed live in the states on every show.
Good job.
It's always such a thrill to discover footage of the Beatles that I've NEVER seen before! I even loved seeing the early incarnation of "The Twist" being performed at the end!
Technically, it was not an early incarnation, as it was made popular in late 61, but in the UK, it hadn't caught on, I suppose! Thanks for watching!
The live performance was a knockout.
Bad ass. happy birthday John and Sean
America needed the beatles
И СССР ----НУЖНЫ БИТЛЗ.....ЖМУ РУКУ

@@JulieAnderocci So did the Taxman
Us Brits needed them too.....they changed everything.....I spent the whole of my teens listening to THE BEATLES...13 to 20 I was so lucky...I’ve still got Beatlemania.....and I don’t want a cure!...👍🏻
Sin trucos a puro pelo💛💙❤️
Thank you, nice job.
Thanks for watching!
Yes..miming to records here..!!..Famous guitarist Bert Weedon said..he played on more Beatles records..than the Beatles...!!!!
As a 10year old growing up in Plympton nr Plymouth England I didn't appreciate the Beatles in 1963.But I do now.Fantasic time in history.
Beatlemania was termed by the press in a very busy 1963 for the Boys
Beeatovan,Nachand The Beatles will never be forgotten.
A music video jewel
Fabulous video, thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you. Only video I’ve seen was the Ed Sullivan show.
Love hearing a "live" final harmony notes to "She Loves You." Really nice.
Really good miming skills on this one, which in itself wasn't easy.
Indeed!
I’m a screaming girl in the audience !!
Haha, I wish !!
I was only 3 yrs young, have pics of me dancing the “twist” to my oldest brothers (by 7 yrs) Beatles record, was dancing in the womb - Yeah Yeah Yeah(!) 💖
Lovely vid, get to see some great shots of George & Ringo even if not live to this track
Awesome ! Thanks for posting this gem !!!
My pleasure!
They were the best back then but ,Times have changed a lot.1964 was 60 years ago.
I thought I'd seen EVERY available Beatles TH-cam video, but hadn't seen this one. What a surprise. Downloading it now & have just subscribed to this channel. WOW. Thank you!
Thank you so much! Feel free to check out the other stuff I have on the channel!
Thank you. I haven’t seen this beautiful video❤❤❤
Live at the BBC is great too!
The music world owes The Beatles a debt of gratitude. They definitely paved the way for many others. Long Live The Beatles.
Oh absolutely. I read an article from Jimmy Page and he said because of the Beatles, we could start making songs as long as we wanted . they were the first band that put five minute songs on an album. One of many innovations from the Beatles.
Fantastické 👏👏♥️♥️ Beatles miluji a čím jsem starší,tak tím víc, můžu je poslouchat kdykoliv a kdekoliv 😁 Jsou nejlepší, nadčasoví a fenomenální ♥️✌️
Just show how really tight they were as a band, that you take a TV mimed performance and sync it with a live performance, beat for beat, guitar lick for guitar lick, seamlessly.
This guy gets it!
Cheers!
And they were restrained by the limitations of analog technology, uffff, and yet, the power The Beatles delivered still reverberates to this very day!!
Before The Beatles went to Sweden October 63 if you saw The Beatles live you could actually hear them play .
Great idea putting the live recording over the film/video. Makes it oh so good!
Glad you like it!
Echt cool, die Beatles. !!!
It would be neat to be their, they were brand new, I was born 5 years later in 68, love Elvis, buddy holley, the beatles, the beach boys, and the rolling stones
TI love The Fab Four! ❤
Thank you for this video
You're so welcome!
So young! We didn't know who they were for another 4 months. Then - POW!!!!!
I hope they they Will live forever for all that they want
Perfect!
They we're unbelievable! 😂😎😉👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Dang ! You saw them twice !!! Lucky dog , you ! I was only 8 , but I was screaming at the theater watching “Hard Days Night” SCREAMING !
Fantastic
Thanks!
I’ve never seen this performance before.
Very interesting soundstage mimicking The Cavern Club.
It’s very obvious they were playing to a previously recorded track, as none of the guitars were plugged in.
Still and all, It’s always good to see The Beatles, from any point in their career.
Even the drums arent plugged in. 😅
@@johnmc3862 So funny!
Love John's voice.
Outstanding job synching the audio, thanks
Bad ass. Can't get enough of this vid. Tight. Thank You for sharing. 58 yrs ago yesterday Beatles at Dodger Stadium
Thank you for posting this. This was months before I was born.
Four singers and players tall slander cute beautiful voice nobody like them I love them thank you John Paul George and Ringo
Gee your Syncing Is Bang on mate, Iv'e done that kind of thing Before The old
Analog way, It ain't easy to get it right, Especially when there's more than one
Song, Good job they didn't talk though it,It would have took longer to get right.
I Did the same thing with the Elvis 1968 comeback sit down show, Cause i
wanted to hear what it would sound like with a full band, So i did a 16 track
overdub with my Yamaha SX700 i had at the time, i didn't strip the original
Tracks, i kept them in, I tell you what i wish i had of copied it to a disk, It
sounded Amazing, It Blew my mind, I should have sent it to Graceland or
Something, Anyway what you have done is a cracking job, If they had of had
those Instruments plugged in you Would have fooled us all mate. never seen
This footage Ether Just like Another Chap said on here. So in a way you have
helped to Preserve A Very rare Vintage bit of film my friend, nice one pall. I
Must say It helped that by the time they did this show they were already a well
oiled machine, cause even Ringo's drumming was bang on to your sound track.
as were the rest of the guys. What happened to the original sound by the way.
Was it all worn out, or it never had any to start with, Just Curious Buddy.
Great story, friend!
The original audio was the studio recordings they were miming to, I just synced up the live audio! It was rather easy for 'From Me To You'. it just sped up the footage slightly when needed. 'She Loves You' and 'Twist And Shout' it was a lot of speeding up footage, going back to the original speed, speeding it up again, takes a lot of time and effort, can't imagine how long it'd take using analog equipment
@@LongTallSally1963 Well I Just Watched it Again and It
Makes Me smile Mate, You done a real good job on it. And
The Job i did on the 68 Comeback took Me about an Hour
and a half, Mabey 2, Not much more than that anyway, I
always start of with ether the piano If the track needs to be
filled out a bit or the bass line, And in this case i Think i did
start with the Bass, Then piano, Then i Added some Electric
Guitar Strumming, I did all the strumming Manually to, To make
it sound real, And Some tracks I added a Hammond Organ
And the end result was Jaw dropping, Pitty i didn't record it.
My friend. Very clever Stuff what we do mate, And When you
Get it right, The end results can be Breath taking. Great work
Pall. Only thing that does show is when john sing Work it all ou
ou Out, on the sound, And on the Video He Sings it once, Thanx
John, Trust him to give the game away LOL.. Good stuff mate.
The Best ever 💚💖💜🎸🎧🌎

But what is your answer to their music now? Weren't they great? Their innovation and freshness unsurpassed!
Me, a 3yrs young, lil’ girl
Wonderfull
Applicated. Thank you!
I can't believe that a legit TV show even for that time would do something this obvious, given that wireless pickups and mics weren't a thing back then, and even if they were there's no sign of any. I wonder how many other shows that they appeared on also did this or if this was the exception, and if the audience knew what was going on. At least the music was actually being played.
FAB FOUR ❤❤❤❤
This is Before Victory trip to Sullivan Show and concert in Washington after that’s beginning Beatlomania.
Actually, I think they prerecorded the performance , then mimed in on camera because the songs are not the original studio recordings. they did that on other shows sometimes. "Around the Beatles" tv program from 1964 ect.
In the original unedited video, they were miming to the studio recordings, I edited the video and added the live audio! Hope that clears it up!
Lovely ❤
