      They were just plain better than everybody else by a wide margin. There are a few other great bands, but none came close to the wild creativity exhibited by these four. It was as if you had Mozart, Beethoven and Bach in the same little quartet. A spectacle.

      I am a staunch supporter that this was the best way for them to go out. My god, Let It Be and Abbey Road. They went out at their best and leaving fans wanting more. Had they stayed together just to appease fans and/or for the money the music could have suffered and we wouldn't have this epic legacy that all us Beatles fans cherish.

      @@emau2459As an artist myself, I notice the best skill one can have is to be able to hear what is playing inside one's head (lyrics, melodies and harmonies) and to translate all of that to the “physical”. Once you learn an instrument, the translating part is not that difficult. The real work lies in learning to hear (or receive) your art. The best artists are the ones that have their channels very open, and The Beatles did it like no one else. So besides love, there is also truth - they were absolutely true to themselves. This is translated in their performances and freedom of production. Even Ringo shared this core honesty, so if the song asked him to record an extra snare or maybe only a tambourine the whole song, that's what he would do. So they treated each song as if it were its own world.

      @@edu-lins Well said; thank you for your insight. To me, the Beatles almost represent the expansion of consciousness, how they kept redefining themselves and finding a deeper truth to express; and in the end, returning to where they started, just rock n roll. No other band has ever had the same effect on me, despite the amazing acts that are out there. For me, Pink Floyd is a close second, but still shy of the mark.

    In 1964, my father begrudgingly - with the help of my mom - allowed me to get a Beatles haircut, but never let me wear Beatle boots. Every one of their albums, upon release, became my new favorite. My girls grew up with the Beatles and other 60s and 70s classic rock, jazz, classical, et al, but the Beatles are our favorite. 2015, I took my wife and daughters to see Paul for her 60th birthday. We had incredible seats and an unforgettable time. My oldest walked down the aisle to In My Life. They brought long-lasting joy to so many lives and generations.

    The perfect end to the most remarkable career of the most successful band in the history of Rock and Roll. Abbey Road #1 1969 and also #1 2019 50th Anniversary Issue. The Beatles will never be topped by anyone ever as 54 years after breaking up their music will continue to appeal to new forthcoming generations. In 1963 their Manager Brian Epstein said “ in the year 2000 kids will be listening to their music.” Well it is April 18, 2024, I am 62 years old and their music is continuing to capture the intrigue and hearts of new listeners. @TonyEnglandUK 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +14

      @@jcsgodmother That's an interesting assessment but the lyrics aren't actually referring to religion, Golden Slumbers is really referring to the play Patient Grissel by Thomas Dekker printed in England in 1603. (When Paul wrote this song, he referred to the words of Patient Grissel closely, read them and you'll see). And Patient Grissel is itself referring to Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.

    • @jcsgodmother
      @jcsgodmother 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      I stand by the interpretation I wrote down. John Lennon said the Beatles were a Christian band and spent his entire life "playing the role" of Jesus. Abbey Road was the last album they recorded (Let It Be was released last because it took so long to get it in shape for release but it was recorded before Abbey Road). This medley is their effort to take everything they were working on but had not completed and put it together in a medley that summed up the Beatles . It was John wrapping up the Beatles and it makes a Christian statement. It is their final masterpiece.

    • @TonyEnglandUK
      @TonyEnglandUK 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +24

      @@jcsgodmother I'm afraid this song has nothing to do with your religion. As I said, the song comes from Patient Grissel (there is a poem in Patient Grissel called "Golden Slumbers", I'll add the poem in another post). And John Lennon did not believe in your god. Nor does Paul McCartney. Nor did George Harrison.

      imagine having Mozart, Beethoven and Bach, in the same quartet; that’s what you have with the Beatles .as good as other bands were they simply could not compete with the wildly, creative, ferocious output of these freaks of nature, known as, the Beatles. As a musician I can tell you there is nothing that approaches the difficulty of writing an excellent song and these guys did it effortlessly, even the solo stuff. How lucky ,lucky ,lucky ,🎼lucky we were to grow up with miraculous music all around us.🎼🎼🎼

    An older friend of mine told me that he has proof God exists, and will send messages thru the radio to you on any specific area of concern. His proof was when he somehow survived Vietnam as a draftee (80% mortality rate in US Army in 1969), and on his way to the air field to be transferred home stateside, he prayed to hear some good music with unique meaning to his life. Upon climbing onto the plane to go home, the pilot was listening to a military radio station and when my buddy took his first step onto the plane, and he knew he was going home after 2 tours of unimaginable horrors, the opening piano chords and Pauls vocals started playing. Once there was a way, to get back home...i heard this one over 30 years ago, and still to this day when i hear this masterpiece, esp. this haunting opening verse, i still shed some tears for my buddy, i cannot comprehend the joy he was feeling that glorious day in 69 when he left Hell, and heard this for the first time...Praise God and thank you for the Beatles...

      Not the best singer ever, but definitely among the greatest songwriters ever!

    This album still stands up today even with all the technology around it's hard to believe this is over fifty years old and it's better than any of the crap that's been put out since the turn of the century.

      R.I.P., George Martin. I even sit and stare at the cover and wish I was there when they were walking across. An incredible moment in eternity.

    If not one of the greatest medleys ever. The song poetry is magnificent.

    This is the best medley by any band in the history of recorded music. It is 16 and a half minutes of pure genius. And also the only time Ringo Starr did a drum solo I believe. A masterpiece.

      Ringo's only drum solo is correct and the timings perfect that is his claim to fame

      @@grantgunden83: Your comments are spot on about this being Ringo's only solo but it's more than that: Its a superb piece of musicianship performed by a master technician, linking different phases of a complex melodic sequence that maybe wouldn't have worked with it. None of the usual self indulgence, chest beating tuneless egotism that usually accompanies drum solos, this is pure class.

    Absolute magic! I was a teenager in the 60's - the Beatles played the soundtrack to my adolescence.
