I was just 2 to 6 months old when this came out they were rejected by Decca 2 days before I was born its fun to hear their first radio broadcast on the BBC
Doesn't sound like any beatle to me unless this is what Pete sounds like on those first two songs and the others sound weird or bad ! Now i have a copy of Live At The BBC so I'll check it out but as i recall hearing some of their early songs before and I had no trouble spotting them so I'm dubious ! 😹
Harrison sings lead on "A Picture of you". And Pete Best was a problem because he was off doing his own thing. Ringo knew how to participate and support the song. That gave Ringo a range Best simply did not have.
I don’t know anything about music and the playing of various instruments, but I don’t hear anything particularly bad or horrible about Pete Best’s drumming. The audio quality isn’t the greatest, but his drumming seems to be ok here. The reason that I mention this, is because one of the main reasons given as to why he was sacked from the group, was because he was a lousy drummer. Now I suppose live performance is different from the studio productions. Maybe someone can help clear this up for me.
that is just a dirty rumor. wen pete couldnt make it to 1 of the shows. ringo filled in cuz they loved his style wen they heard him with his former group/ the rest is history.
The poor quality of the recording almost adds a feeling of antiqueness to the tracks. As usual, the quality of Pete Best's drumming is amateurish. But what are you gonna do?

Greetings & best wishes to all Beatles fans around the world
Great to find this vintage performance, with Pete Best, apparently. Thanks for posting!!!
This is full rock and roll

Two years in - pretty damn good ..
J, P and G had been together since 1957
So at least the first show in March 1962 was done before they even had a record contract ( with George Martin at EMI which happened in June 1962).
Wow!! Thank you! Total vintage Beatles

Oh. And another thing, is that Paul McCartney singing the first song, Dream Baby?
Must be, right?

I think Best sounds like a solid drummer. His licks on the first song are really good. Sounds good throughout!

The Beatles used to hire themselves out as a backup band.
