I have this bike and thought it was fast until I bought a 2020 Superduke 1290 R.. The Duke wants to kill you and is unpredictable so I’m selling it and sticking with the FTR. Indian really hit a home run with the 22 Carbon R
I bought a 2019 FTR S a couple weeks ago. It came with akropovic exhaust and some other goodies. After watching this video I’m assuming it had the ECU flashed, I’ve had mine up to 152. It gets to 145 with ease.
That's awesome, the FTR is a fun bike! On our 2015 Carbon Ducati Diavel I've hit 150mph before and she had more to give. Believe it's electronically limited to 169mph
I got my Diavel 1260s with termi and upmap up to 167, possible that it could have gotten to 169 but doubt it would've managed in stock form as the last 5 mph took what seemed forever.
@@christianandersson2106 That's awesome, it's impressive these bikes can achieve those speeds especially not being super sports. The 2015 I mentioned also had a Termi, up map and pretty neat windscreen not common to the Diavel.
@@ryllyduc1198 ye, impressive for sure. i think i've never had to hold on harder to a bike than when i did that top speed attempt. once was enough, was a bit shaky after that :D
0 to 100 mph is super quick on the FTR's and have been there many times on my S model but i have only been to 124 on mine before it feels like the power cuts out.
Dude I love your videos,I know you probably don't do the Grom thing anymore but I've watched your video a million times bro,I'm trying the foot drag , did ok tonight but looped it for my first time, can you give me any advice,I pop it up and give it brake but she just wants to leave me behind.i guess what I'm asking is what do you suggest man
I still have the grom but it needs some tlc. Lol. Maybe try popping up and then letting the front back down until you feel super confident and consistent with throttle and the brake. Then slowly bring it higher and higher. Always better to ease into it - easier said than done tho. Good luck!
Hey Jon , great to see you bro 😊 Hey that was Awesome !!!!! And it looks like it comes up pretty easy for wheelies 👍 Bro that bike has Alot of Untapped Potential , Some real good exhaust , K&N air filter. , a programmer and Yee Haw!!!! You're making me miss my CBR 1000rr dqys!!! Mmm Hmmm , fastest I ever got out of it was 186 ( on the speedo ) Hey fun fact for all speed Freaks out there , at 180 mph , you're traveling 249 feet per second 😁 I use to watch Superbike , Moto GP , and the 600 Supersports , and that's why I was always so impressed with those guys !! Really enjoyed the video !! My best to you , Jackie and the kiddos , may ourHeavenly Father continue to watch over you all and bless you 🙏 Look forward to seeing you again soon 👍
Lots of potential for sure. The wheelie game is a challenge with such a sensitive throttle but we're getting there. Those feet per second specs do put it in perspective. That's wild! 180s is insane!
@@JonsMotoGarage Yup , Ride by Wire throttle is No Bueno !!!! When I had my CBR 929rr the throttle was So Smooth , I could just bring it up in 1st , shift to 2nd , ride it out and shift to 3rd , and it was as smooth as glass 👍 Don't know if you ever got to ride a 9292rr , but they were an Awesome wheelie machine . They had butterfly valves in the exhaust collector where the four header pipes merged , and it gave them Super good low end , so no clutch required , just hit the throttle and it it would stand right up , easy peezy 👍
The Indian ftr is fantastic. Now if Harley can put that sportster s engine in a street fighter frame. It would be amazing. The only thing holding the 1250T back on the sportster s is the frame size and suspension work. It goes plenty fast but wish it was a more sportier bike. The pans America is fast and fun but wish they offered that in a more naked fairing style.
If they put the Sportster S engine in something like the Bronx concept they showed a few years back and manage to keep the price down, it would be a genuine contender for sure
I wonder what your thoughts on it had it been fitted with off road tires so that you could carve some gravel roads. I really am considering one for that exact purpose
Truth be told I would love a 750 sumo/dual sport version with more off road capable suspension. That would be the ultimate! But this handles surprisingly well in the dirt with just the basic causing. More in depth review and vids to come...
I have a 2019 version which I prefer to the 22. I've chucked serious coin at it in a bid to recreate the flat tracker that it purports to be. One of the changes I made was a dual sport tyre. I fitted the Pirelli Scorpion STR Rallys (which I believe come as standard on the Rally version). Great grippy and responsive tyre both on and off road and with the aggressive looks that are far more in keeping with the dirt pedigree. Useless in sand and mud though.
Gets there decently quickly. What road is that? Would love a road like that here in Texas. Next time put a phone mount and test the speedo with your gps. I’m sure that factory speedo is off as most bikes are. I’d be curious to see true speed. Ride safe man
@@DeCavalcante yea hill country is nice. There are some nice scenic roads to ride. I just personally haven’t come across an empty open stretch like John has in this video lol
Absolutely love this bike and might just add one to the stable at some point. However, as you rightly noted, breakneck speed and acceleration won't be the motivating factor for buying it. My current Yamaha FZ1 scratches that itch and would smoke this thing without much effort. But for blasting around town or short jaunts here and there, this thing looks like it would be a blast.
The FZ1 has almost the same quarter mile time as the FTR though (according to several quarter mile websites), so what do you mean exactly by it would smoke it? Do you mean above 130 mph? That’s the only place you could outrun the FTR, they have almost identical numbers, my guess is the better rider would win, regardless of the bike.
actually the FTR stock outruns the FZ1 60-100 roll on, FZ1 definitely walks it above 100 and pulls clean away above 137 no contest. No clue which is faster to 60 as its literally 100% rider once all the wheelie and traction control is turned off. Also, toce lowmount and lloyd's v6 secret sauce tune is gonna pull a low 10 in the quarter if you can ride. the trap speed for the FTR is impressive too, probably 10mph or so above the FZ1 The FTR is not a fast sport bike or hyper naked, its very much a roadster, but it does hang with much much "faster" bikes. Its far from sitting still when up against much much faster bikes. the 60-100 sweet spot of the FTR is no joke, literally runs fender to fender with just about anything in that range.
@@troychilds6050 I'll concede the first 60/100 feet to the FTR given its torque curve, but from there....my bet is my FZ reels it in and walks away. Would love the opportunity to find out first hand but know anyone who has one locally.
You think a limiter is a good thing? Wow! Why? The limiter I prefer is either the maximum unlimited speed or my best judgment, let your wrist and experience be your guide. By the way, my best judgment usually wins out over the maximum unlimited speed!

There's a balance to strike between manageable and over the top. Sometimes less is more. 👌💯
