Mary Reichard i was on bumble trying to make some new girlfriends since I moved to a new city and this girl literally pretended to have the same interest as me and then pitched her nautural something hair line I googled it and sure shit it was monat! I was like isn’t that a MLM and she said yes ☺️ and I was like you do know they have several law suits against them, she said oh well those people lied, when in fact the lawsuit went through against monat with evidence. And told her I don’t want her scam shit and she got all pissy 😂
You’re right,we need woman like that making new laws, prepared to be able to do it..Seeing her fighting for truth gives me hope not all in this world goes bad, there are people who care and burn energy fighting them and their lies.Good for her and all people fighting evil system👍
If it says “ boss babe or entrepreneur” in the bio, run. We recently moved to a military town and I joined a ton of local mom groups to meet people. I was invited to so many “ play dates, girls night out” types of thing, every single one ended up being a mlm sales pitch.
I came to America with my single mom and RIGHT AWAY Amway people were targeting her, inviting her to events and pressuring her into it. I am so happy she is a smart & intelligent woman who stayed away from that and successfully grew her own business being a violin teacher. We just bought our first home in Seattle and we never have problems with finances. There is no such think as “easy money”. It takes hard work and time and education!! Love you girl, thank you for the video ❤️
Congratulations on the new home! Kudos for the hard work your mom (and I'm sure you were a part of it too) put into making her own business. My parents (really my dad, but my mom helped) ran a family business while I was growing up. They weren't really business minds, but my dad was very good at the work he did ,and he worked very hard at it. It wasn't easy, but they raised 3 kids and daddy is living in a house he owns. All these MLM people who claim to be business owners make me angry. You have a great start knowing that money doesn't come easy.
oohh yesss! I'm also fascinated/horrified by how social media sucks people into MLM garbage. Have you heard the podcast The Dream? It dives DEEP into the history, the vicious cycle of debt and how the companies get away with it. It was so interesting and I think you'd like it.
Everyone is recommending it! I’m gonna listen tomorrow morning. I’ve been on this mlm investigation for over a year and I have some STORIES. So many sellers with no boundaries who take advantage of desperate people promising financial freedom
Just started The Dream podcast yesterday. The narrator is actual from my hometown of Owosso,Michigan.I was someone who moved away.Oddly her Dad was my dentist.I cannot even being to tell you how many MLM “friend” requests I get. It’s crazy and really kinda disrespectful. I absolutely love your and @leighannsays videos!
I just had a baby and a lady literally was like, “let’s get that body back since you had a baby! You should join my team” that was beachbody and then an itWorks person did a similar thing. Like I HAD A BABY the last thing I need is to hear about losing weight right now 🙄😒
When I had my first baby(2015), I was bombarded with DMs telling me I “needed” belly wraps(??) and diet tea. Someone even had the nerve to say I was taking too long to “snap back”😒. I immediately blocked every person, and made all my social media private after that.
Yes! I totally agree. I’m a military spouse and a stay at home mom so I’m literally their target audience for all of these scams and I literally cannot stand it.
I'm a stay at home homeschool mom, and I must be a target too because I get messages ALL the time about MLMs. My husband didn't believe me at first because it is constant, but then I started showing him and now we have a good laugh about it. Seriously, it is never ending lol
One of my friends fit the the perfect profile target for LuluRo. I didn't quite grasp how evil they were until I read TH-cam. I bought a couple of leggings that were ok and a dress I wear to clean the house in.. I also bought a couple of tops that I realized you could see thru-I donated them. But I still didn't realize how greedy the company was until I saw all these ugly ass clothes in my friend's basement. I felt so bad for her; she just wanted some extra bucks for her kids and she got screwed by some unscrupulous Mormons. At least she was spared the Tijuana plastic surgery hustle. I dont know what she did with all that ugly merch, she left the area. I know she didn't have 5k to throw away. She never tried to recruit me;thank God.
When I hear about people with bot followers getting sponsorships, I just think one of Oscar's quotes from The Office: "Well this is what happened: uh, Ryan's big project was the website - which wasn't doing so well. So Ryan, in order to give the impression of sales, recorded them twice - once as office sales and once as website sales, which is what we in the business refer to as 'misleading the shareholders' - another good term is 'fraud.'"
I "won" a Mary Kay spa day/makeover at a bridal expo. So 4 of my friends came over to my house , and the lady spent sooo much time trying to get us to sign up to sell Mary Kay that only I got a makeover, no one else. She was in my house for 3.5 hours pressuring my friends to sign up or at least buy products because it would help ME, and I'd get the credit. I don't want to sell Mary Kay! So uncomfortable, and I had to apologize to all my friends! I should have kicked her out. The next week, I found out that everyone who signed up for the facial/makeover "won" the same privilege of hosting a MK party for their unsuspecting friends. So sketchy!! MK might have nice products, but they're totally MLM, and they're still overpriced for what you get.
That's so scary! I was part of a MK party back in high school and I wasnt comfortable putting foundation on and the lady made it seem like it worked so well for me, and she was so sweet and kept telling me to only use her brand cause everything is not safe. I'm glad I'm no longer naive
Miranda Pontarelli this is so crazy bc I won this too by entering some bridal thing at David’s bridal. I never did it bc it was with Mary Kay and I was like ehhhhh, rather not. I’m glad I didn’t. That sounds like BS.
Emily Matthews i read somewhere that david’s bridal is somehow linked/partnered with MK. it’s super sketchy that they don’t tell you but idk why i’d expect anything different from them.
Exact same thing happened to me! Sadly I fell for it, and ended up joining MK. I really regret it (my recruiter lied & said I would be the only consultant in my area, lo & behold I join and there's consultants EVERYWHERE in my town) and am getting out now. I feel like back in the day when MK started it was a decent company with good products, but it has become so focused on recruiting instead of the products that the quality and the good reputation is just gone and no longer the company that Mary Kay had envisioned. Their new color products are crap too! It's hard to sell something that you don't personally wear because it's just not good. Ugh I have really come to hate MLMs 🙄
Ugh, Monat. I've recently joined a hair loss community group online, due to experiencing significant hair loss due to autoimmune disease and the medications that are used to treat them. Some Monat sellers will actively search for these groups, and comment on accounts of women who post on social media (ones that have a higher following), about hair loss, promising this will be the cure for them. While it may seem like it's just "hair", and "what's the harm?", you don't know how devastating it can be, especially for women, until you go through it. These are private groups with women who are leaning on each other for support and posting very vulnerable feelings and struggles, and almost daily there are comments from these people promising false hope. Besides the fact that Monat is shit in general, no shampoo or hair care line is not going to change your genetics, or having various systemic diseases. It's really sad that some of these sellers actively search out these online support communities to try and make a buck from women when they are feeling their lowest.
YESSSS girl. I have lost a lot of hair after having my babies and I've also struggled with trichotillomania. The number of MONAT people who come at me on my IG is disgusting. DISGUSTINGGGGGG.
This happened to me too!!!!!! Gahhhhh. I lost 75% of my hair about 4 years ago, and it’s extremely devastating. I’ve been approached multiple times by Monat people ughhh. It does feel good to know you’re not alone :)
@@ackermo24 It does! Which makes it even shittier when you find a group where you feel like you can safely share, and then end up being preyed upon by these people.
Kiki Chanel, a week ago I committed to using a treadmill to work out in my garage every night, and watching your anti-MLM videos makes it so much easier to stay on that treadmill for way more time than I ever mean to. I keep having longer and longer workouts because your videos take my mind off how monotonous and hard the exercise is. Who needs Beach Body huns when we can just do the Kiki Chanel anti-MLM video workout!
these are the kind of story times I love to see! not just those cringe click bait ones about things like "I got pranked called by Beyonce!" or "someone stole my purse at coachella!" this was informative & entertaining. I would love to hear your thoughts on other less talked about topics within the beauty/lifestyle realm such as: subscription boxes (good value, quality, etc.), maybe gimmick skin care, etc.
When I get random friend requests from people I went to highschool with I always go to their page first to see what they’re selling cause 9/10 of them just want to friend you to sell stuff. Lol
Growing up, I had a neighbor that everyone on my block (including my family) “The Mary Kay Lady” we literally didn’t refer to her by her name because she literally wasn’t a person with human emotions, she was a selling robot. ANY time anyone would have any encounter with her she would make it about Mary Kay and make you feel uncomfortable enough to say yes and buy something from her because she was our neighbor and “friend.” She drove the pink Cadillac and the whole nine (she was UP there in the chain) and made a constant effort to flaunt her things and her life style. She had the nicest house on the block and it really stuck out because my neighborhood wasn’t quite high class by any means 😭. I remember even as a preteen and teen she would COME OVER and ask for me and ask if she can “borrow my face” or be her “model” and she would take me into her “beauty studio” and give me the ugliest make over of life and tried to sell me it and also told me I could benefit from the acne skincare line and shit and I’d be like uhhh I need to ask my mom lmao. She would also ask me to come over and clean her house and she would “pay me” for it... I really cleaned her damn house for her to give me a damn nail polish. She was truly the oddest woman alive and even her kids didn’t like her which is sad... but I digress 😭
A few years ago I was incredibly naive and my sister manipulated me into joining an MLM and lied about the work she put in and the money she was making. I didn’t lose money, but I probably made about $3/hour of working so wasn’t at all worth my time. I got out quick, she didn’t and she’s paying for it now. There’s still an uncomfortableness in our relationship now because of the whole experience.
Brittany Post similar thing happened to me! Got sucked into Tupperware. Like Kylie mentioned, Tupperware products are actually amazing but the MLM style is nauseating lol. Got out in about a year or so and lost some.... could have been worse!
Exactly. You might be a stay at home mom and living your dream. Unfortunately you’re on your phone so much you actually end up ignoring everyone in your family because you’re glued to your phone 24 seven. And that’s really super annoying for the people around you.
Brittany Post And your time is valuable! I’m glad you didn’t get hit harder, but I’m sorry it hurt your relationship with your sister. That sounds really hard. 😔
Brittany Post yeah I got sucked into a pyramid scheme brand too a few years back, it was Beautycontrol .. I sold over a grand of products and only made about $40 commission in the span of 3 months .. I get joining it for making friendships or just as something social to do but at least be honest and say “you can make a few extra bucks” instead of “you can create a career and earn 6 figures” - luckily I only invested around $100 into it but it’s gotta stop
They are SOOOOoooo fucking preditory. I would suggest listening to the podcast called "The Dream" it's completely free to watch on Stitcher and it's all about how shitty MLMs are.
In one I was in, they encouraged leaders to get car loans for nicer cars and buy expensive purses and jewelry to look the part and appear more successful. Plus, don’t forget the toxic positivity of what you put out there eventually comes to you . 🤢
Honestly I hate when girls on Facebook only friend me to sale me stuff. 😡 I get so excited thinking maybe I have a new friend but then they end up trying to scam me.
Same. One girl added me and we had 1 mutual friend so I accepted. She would comment on all my posts, started to seem super interested in my life, and I literally thought it was a genuine friendship forming. It wasn't like I was super attached to this person, but we seemed to have such similar interests so I was getting happy to get to know her. All of a sudden BAM. The messages about joining her team came in "Girl, you're like SUPER gorgeous! Have you ever thought to sell this? You would seriously be SO good at it!!!!" I was so annoyed.
Jocelyn Sloan the difference between beauty influencers with and without college educations is staggering. I hardly think about it until I see videos like this.
@@willowashe just going to college doesn't make you intelligent, in fact nowadays it's probably the opposite. A college degree just means you have good memory retention and perseverance.
When I get a notification from Kylie that says “Story time” in the title and THEN I see its a 42 minute video.. my day gets a million times better 😍💕 so pumped
Sadie Black riiiight they don’t even use there own pics of their “transformations” it’s always someone from Adam lmao also my sister inlaw is so in depth into it and she’s a bit chunky and she’s been doing it works for three years and says it “works”’the products haha but there’s no proof cause she’s still the same if not chunkier and her marketing is so fake omg it’s annoying
I got approached for this about 2 weeks ago on IG. I talked to "my mentor" or she said she'd be helping me "every step of the way" and I haven't paid anything yet and I'm not going to. But honestly they make it sound great at first until you start doing research into it. I'm going to be declining fully and deleting the one post on it I have.
Right. Let's be real...if there was a weight loss wrap that actually did what they claim it does and actually worked, it would sell itself! It sure as hell wouldn't have to rely on direct sales. That's what drives mw nuts about all of these MLMs, If the products were actually good...they wouldn't need to be an MLM company to begin with!
You are SO right about all of this. I met a girl at a party last year and she said she was in" the skincare business" so I told her I had a beauty TH-cam/IG and we bonded over our love of makeup and beauty products. We also had kids the same age so we exchanged numbers and I was excited to meet a new friend, especially since I don't have many since we moved to CT from NY. Anyway, we hung out and afterwards she was like, "oh let me give you a sample of some of my skincare" and it was Rodan & Fields stuff which is also an MLM. Long story short, she proceeded to contact me nonstop on Facebook and via text about joining her team and I said I didn't want to do that since I have my own job, but I ended up buying the eyelash serum from her because she said she would give it to me at "her cost" (and that stuff is expensive and I had been wanting to try it anyway). So I said okay and bought it and she said she would reimburse me for the discount. When it showed up at my door, she had sent me the lash serum and a mini eye cream as a bonus (NOT the money she said she would refund me). But I'm the type of person who likes to avoid conflict, so even though I was pissed, I just figured I wouldn't buy anything from her again at that point. Anyway, the lash serum ended up giving me a reaction, it burned and caused my lash line to turn red so I stopped using it and went to RapidLash instead. Then she asked me if I would do a video or IG post about the serum and give people her link so they could buy it from her and I finally blew up. I told her it didn't work for me and I would never promote MLM's to my subscribers. The part that sucked the most wasn't being scammed out of the money, it was thinking I had made a friend and realizing that she was using me for my following and to make money. 😡😡😡 She's still at it though, posting all over her FB page about how she bought her husband a new car with her earnings and they were able to buy a bigger house, promoting this lavish lifestyle. Yeah, okay.
This video SERIOUSLY opened my eyes to all the BS that goes on social media- like the behind the scenes of what’s actually going on in these perfect pics & “perfect” lives. Reallly makes me want to go on an unfollowing binge. No one is real anymore 😒
I lost all respect for all MLMs when I had a "friend" who hardcore was selling 'it works' products until she stopped selling them a year later because the products didn't work....like ok I'm sure you knew that the whole time. Also the "girl who was rude to you in high school who messages you like hey hun" yasssssssssss
I have a family member that is forever trying to sale some MLM crap. Ughh.. I don't want a coffee shake mix, a $90 essential oil , meal plans or leggings lol..Naw Thanks
I'm not even close to finishing this video, but I opened an Instagram acct with the intention of sharing my fitness journey and finding like minded people, to build a community of support, share the love, the struggles etc. I had such a passion for it at first, but it became such a burden/discouragement. All because of the fitness scammers and health coaching mlms. It was awful! I still have my page but I turned it private/don't post much anymore. The worst part of it was that I'd think I had a connection with someone going through the same journey, and then I'd get the message "have you ever thought of fitness coaching? Join my team!" 🙄 Some of them were so nice too, honestly I saw them more as victims than scammers themselves. 🤷 Thanks for shining light on this topic. It baffles me how people fall for these schemes.
Angela D same, and I was dumb enough to fall for it. My “coach “ was so nice when she was trying to get me in. Once I paid and was was in she dropped me like a hot potato. Doesn’t even text a hi how are you. Which she did all the time. I honestly thought it was a real honest connection.
Ugh my heart breaks for people who do MLMs they always need the money and are told this is how to build a business easily. I know someone who repeatedly invests in one after another (despite others telling them not to) and never learns that MLMs are never successful ☹️ great video!
Jocelyn Perron i definitely get what you’re saying but I had a “friend” who made good money as a nurse yet she promoted her younique business & would keep involving herself in various mlms. Like, I knew her in real life but she’d friend me then unfriend, etc. other than that, I’ve mainly seen people who don’t want to work and want that get rich quick
Jocelyn Perron unfortunately my cousin is involved in this and tried to recruit me. I was interested at first but was sus since she didn’t wanna give out the company name. I did my own research and tried to warn u but they BRAINWASHED her. It breaks my heart bc she recently got pregnant as well w TWINS! I hate this MLM CULT RUINING PEOPLES LIVES
Reminds me of the movie pursuit of happiness with will Smith when he’s selling those machines to doctors offices. They bought so many of those with their life savings and then ended up broke and homeless. Not sure if it was an MLM but either way I hate to see it
There is whole sub reddit dedicated to Anti MLM it’s hilarious and fascinating and scary! One MLM company just had “mentors” “coaches” whatever you they call them take their downlines to Mercedes dealerships and had them pick out there cars. They picked out the cars they were going to buy when they got rich from schilling the companies product. No cars where purchased, but a lot of false promises were made, sales peoples time wasted, and photos for social media taken... all with the same caption I’m sure corporate provided along the lines of “ boss babes (or some ridiculous name) picking out their new cars!” Trying to make it seem all these women left with new Mercedes. These women truly believe if they spend just a little more and recruit just a few more people they will really get to buy those cars. Sad.
It’s sad but Idk if I necessarily feel bad for people who want to get into the “get rich quick” businesses like younique, etc. and most of them just don’t want to work
YESSSS!!!! Although you don’t like to refer to yourself as an influencer, I definitely do & I put you at the top of my favourites because you’re the realest out there! 👏🏻👏🏻 Glad someone’s speaking up about MLMs 👏🏻👏🏻
This video was GOLD!!! You hit every point to the T. So proud of you for making this video. I have seen people do this as well and hearing your points about how it really is destroying peoples lives by telling them to quit their jobs is so sickening. And a 40 minute Kiki video, YESSSS!
I always say “question everything”. If you don’t know it’s fact, it’s not...don’t lure others down a well of lost hopes and dreams. Some people cannot handle losing these things and if they believe you and ascribe to your way of thinking because you convinced them to believe, you’re responsible for them to an extent. I’ve become so disillusioned in the past 4-5 years and I’m so ridiculously over people taking care of number 1...take care of others as well. If you’re destroying others to build yourself up, it’s criminal. There’s room for us all to succeed and disparaging people to hype yourself up stinks. It really does. Thank you for this vid. I’ve been scratching my noggin lately over some of the goings on that seem Ill gotten. It’s hard to sort through it when your short on know how, but want to make positive changes in the world. Take care and follow your bliss.
I’m so happy you made this video!! I have encountered so many of these girls, and they make you feel guilty for doing the traditional route. I’m double majoring in college to get into law school and I’ve had someone selling these products tell me to “drop out”... yes DROP OUT for a hair care brand. Someone would rather have me sell hair care for my livelihood than be a human rights attorney that can actually make a difference. Crazy!
Kiki Chanel I’m so glad you made a video about this because this type of stuff has pissed me off for so long. I get HEATED when people that didn’t like me in high school try to “get on board” with their MLM BS🤣
I am a 50 year old young mom. You are saving so many women from the hell of the "if you just work harder" hell. I did nuskin and Mary Kay. For a very short time. It was the same back then. You are saving women from these schemes. Thank you!! Keep going!!
FDA released this report: which found Monat cosmetics being "prepared, packed, or held under insanitary conditions whereby it may have become contaminated with filth"
I absolutely love that you take your platform to inform others on injustices. Never heard of this and found the video super informative and interesting!
A girl i went to HS with made her instagram “career” based on the whole follow and unfollow crap on instagram. Her content is so stale and uninspired. I’m about 1/3 of the way through this video and I’m just sitting here like yesssssssssss.
I find it refreshing how Kiki is ok with being a normal/regular person. I find all those edited people With their edited lives online to be very toxic and inauthentic. She is a positive image of what an influencer can be like.
since you asked for video ideas, i'd really like to see some vlogs! i always enjoy your vlogging and its too long to wait for vlogmas. just get in the car, drive around and rant about random things.... ya love to see it!
Kelly Paulk same!!! miss your vlogs. Even if you have a lazy day. Show us around. What’s a normal day for you. We want to see it all even if you think it’s boring ! 😘😘
omg i get these messages so often and have girls i know posting about monat but they've all pulled out now after a few months of raving about their huge pay cheques they never received it's so crazy how many people get involved with it!!!
You hit the nail on the head! The reason these products are SO poorly formulated is because they have to make serious profit margins on the sales to pay everyone on the pyramid. I bet my esthetic license these products are made with the cheapest, low quality, dangerous ingredients possible, just to make a buck on the backs of unsuspecting people.
It’s really encouraging to hear you fight for justice and decency! I appreciate it because I feel just as strong about integrity as you do! And I’m always running my mouth for truth.
The most egregious form of MLM recruiting is when they prey on young vulnerable moms and shame them for having stable jobs. E.g. “don’t you want to be home with your baby instead of leaving them with a stranger? Well now you can!” I see thus all the time and It’s truly vile
Thank you for addressing this issue, it’s becoming out of control. I’m a single mom and have been targeted so many times by multiple people telling me I can make a huge income while being at home with my daughter and that whatever mlm company they’re selling will solve all of my money and personal issues. Enough already. If it sounds too good to be true, it IS too good to be true! These companies need to be outlawed. Preying on the vulnerable is shameful at best.
You are so amazing and smart. Thank you for posting this!! The fitness/nutrition ones are the first. People not qualified to give out that kind of advice, even giving out medical advice, is just so dangerous. The one fitness MLM is notorious for targeting post-partum women too which is just so gross.
I’m a teacher and know so many people who work for these, it’s sad. It boggles my mind that people continue working for them when they’re not seeing any profit!
You are a breath of fresh air in this world of social media where almost everyone lives a “perfect “ life. Thank you so much. I was involved with an MLN and everything you have said is true. People really need to stop kind of stepping on the backs of others to get ahead, and that is what MLM’s are all about.
My son lives in Long Beach, CA and he has told me that he knows girls with 50k plus followers who online act like they are traveling, shopping nonstop, etc. but in reality are begging for a place to sleep at night bc they can’t afford rent. So yea, it kills me when young ppl say they want to be like these ppl online. Bc it’s usually not as good as it seems.
Kiki Chanel it really is. He said the first thing ppl want to know is “who do you know out here” or “how many followers do you have” They could careless to get to know you for you. It’s sad.
KiKi you are so passionate. It is a horrible feeling being conned. We were when we were young. And a good con man could probably still do it to this day. I always say "let me sleep on it, or leave it with me". I struggle with the feeling "damned if I do , damned if I don't". The car incentive can go both ways, it can appeal to someone who cant get a car loan, some work that way I think. I could comment for hours on this great video you have explained so eloquently and funny as usual. You are always a breath of fresh air. Keep up the good fight.
Yes!!!! So many of my family members and friends are part of MLMs and it sickens me!! Basically faking weight loss (since they are only losing weight because they aren’t eating and exercising a ton) and then saying it’s this magic drink and pills! 🤦🏼♀️
Parnika Jain Exactly. It’s my own family too, so I see the behind the scenes of them working out non-stop, eating only salad, and then “claiming” that it was the drinks & tablets. It kills me
I LOVE you! You are such a genuine person and I love that you are always trying to protect us as consumers, followers, etc. I consider myself to be a fairly intelligent person. I have a college degree and an okay job but even I have been on the verge of getting sucked into these schemes at times. They prey on people who are struggling with no regard to how it may harm these people. It’s sick. Thank you for this 🙌🏽
The sad part is, she probably copy and pasted come else's caption for her post, while in the bathroom of her minimum wage job. Its so sad that they fall this. Question: What's your thought on so many MLM's coming from Utah and Morman church? I can't understand why so many participate in them and fund the foolery.
I’m trying to look more into them but they are undoubtedly some of the most interesting MLMs that exist. Unfortunately probably the hardest to break people out of as well. I need to do more research on them 🧐
Many of us from that church are naive and think we are going to make money. We also fall prey to wanting to help our neighbor, friends, and acquaintances out with their small business. We also like feeling connected with those around us. Lastly, we are way too trusting of those around us. Where I live I can't even begin to state how many posts I have seen where someone states they are looking for a friend, some may even be mlm huns. I think some companies start out with good intentions there, but these mlm's are so huge that they think they may be allowing people to make money and be in charge of how much they work. By the time they realize that it didn't work they get a little greedy and push for more recruitment. I may be wrong or partly right, but I think this is most likely what happens. They take advantage of the good intentions of others and stay at home parents who want to earn a little extra money.
@@maddicarlson4267 I joined ItWorks! In 2016... I stayed as a customer so long (months and months) because I admired the woman who signed me up so much that I felt guilty letting her down. 🤦🏻♀️ Meanwhile she signed me up knowing full well I would spend $200 a month to be “a product of the product “ and she was essentially making money off me. Did she care? No. Many of these people proclaim to be spiritual (and use it to draw others 🥴) when they are in fact materialistic. It’s really sad. I can’t believe I parked my logical brain somewhere. That’s why I like this channel. She is using plain ol’ logic to see thru this. Only one product I loved (hair skin nails) but the rest was useless. I could never even bring myself to share the company besides trying and failing once. I don’t know how people can do this. Their conscience is seared. Majority of their tactics are completely predatory. They want their bonus for signing you up ($100? $125?) and then make money off your orders and anyone else you rope in.
@@tanyatanya891 it really is. I did Mary Kay, using the word did very loosely, but trying tonget people to sign up under me always seemed off to me. They really do take advantage of the naive, unity focused, and stay at home moms. They really do have no conscience. I don't know how they can do it.
@@maddicarlson4267 I know that Utah MLMs like to recruit returned missionaries. These young men/women have spent 18months to 2years attempting to recruit for the LDS Church. They have developed the art of picking themselves up, after failing to baptise anybody, for months on end, and carry on regardless. Perfect mlm recruits.
Dang, I really like you. You bring back my faith in young ppl (well, you look young) and you're smart, sharp, strong minded, eloquent, and driven/determined. I love that, love, love, love that!! Girl I hope you become president some day. Keep that fire going. You can change the world with that kind of passion.
You go girl! I love your honesty. Too many people now try to portray their life as perfect. Why can’t more people just be real? I see these ads all the time and get old “friends” messaging me with deals.
The amount of people that follow me (then unfollow) and DM me with that “hey girly!”) BS... I thought I was the only one SMH 🤦🏻♀️ And these people NEVER STOP. I ALWAYS ignore (and sometimes block) them. But even when you ignore them... they’ll hit you with that “hey darling, did you see/have you had time to read my message from last week?!” Like YES CAROL, I SAW THE DAMN MESSAGE AND I IGNORED YOU FOR A REASON. The block button is a wonderful thing.
Thanks for the video! I find comfort in your videos, because I know people who have or are currently involved in MLMs. I go through a strange mourning period when another person I know gets involved, because I know nothing will ever be authentic from them again and they are going to suffer in silence portraying lies.
I have a friend on Facebook that says "residual income" or "online networking company " and she will never say the "company " she works for. It's so annoying!!! Sometimes I'll write in the comments the name of it snd she goes and deletes it. It drives me crazy! You should do one on Meleluca
Ash Johnson many years ago I tried the Melaluca thing. I had serious financial issues and had to purchase a required amount of very expensive products in order to remain a subscriber. I didn't know it still existed.
@@suziesaler5937 It's a clothing company that sells clothes through facebook. Your friend joins and then creates a group, invites you to join her sale, etc. It seems legit, but you have to generate sales from the same group of ladies unless you can grow the group and find more buyers through referrals.
Love your passion and steadfast values! They resonate with me and sometimes I feel a little crazy for being so rigid with how dedicated I am to being “real” or morally just. Thanks for making me feel validated and thanks for spreading awareness!
Oh my gosh I literally just filmed an mlm rant last night because I am SO OVER IT. Monat and Arbonne are the two I've been bombarded by lately and it is ridiculous how much they take advantage of people, especially WOMEN! Like girls, be smarter than that!!!!!!!! 🙄🙄🙄 Great video 👏
Sooo glad you talked about this! Very informative for people who aren't aware. I get these dm's on the daily and the first time I thought it was too good to be true, and thought it was a little weird that they wanted me to pay to get started. Glad I realized it's their way of making money by "recruiting" people. Thank you for sharing!
I have 8.5 k followers and I always get random ass requests for me to support their brand. I click on their page and it’s some random stuff. I just assume everything is a scam LOL
Your storytimes are so funny, just the way you talk and explain things is entertaining so I’d say more story times (maybe from Sephora?) and more investigations hahaha
You show girls that they can be both passionate, informed advocates and beauty queens if they want to be. I really admire that about you and your channel. Thank you.
I almost fell for this when I graduated HS. They prey on young people because they know they will fall for it. Thank god my parents noped me right out of it. Also, some girl I went to college with works for this company and just did a huge rant on how this company is so great and she quit her full time job to focus on this and how it’s a billion dollar company and blah blah blah
I’ve been watching these videos every night after I put my kids to bed lol not only do I find this subject extremely fascinating and angering all at once, I could seriously listen to you talk all the time. The way you present facts, your thinking, your realness, etc. it’s all just great
Yesss!!!!! I’ve been scrolling thru FB and then there are like 3 videos in a row of a person just “counting” or laying down like 20 $100 bills and saying that “anyone could do this” but like l really, Karen? Do you think I’m an idiot? If it looks too good to be true, it is.
I recently had an interaction with Mary Kay, and they spent the whole evening telling me how great I would be at working for Mary Kay, bc I actually know things about makeup application (thanks to yt). And then after the "event" which I only went to bc it was a bridesmaids thing, she texts me and asks if being a consultant has been "on my mind", and I didn't even care to write a whole response, and just told her no it hasn't. She comes back to me says "well didn't think so, you didn't seem like you are good with people anyways". I was like that's funny, bc last night you spent multiple hours telling me how much of a natural I would be. Um yeah... Ok... Oh and also the makeup was crap, and covered nothing. Like if I was gonna sell makeup it would be products that actually work 🤣. Also she was sitting there bragging about how "good" her skin was for her age, bc of using these products for so many years. Her skin wasn't bad, but like it was normal....she looked her age. Lol. Ugh it was a mess. And so much emphasis on money...it's crazy.
cvesaunders I love MaryKay skincare - I have been using it for years, they have tried to recruit me several times but I know I am not a seller type person-I am a buyer. LoL. The last time someone tried to recruit me I joined just for the half off privilege but not to actually sell to people just personal use 😊
@@coloreyes123 Right? I've seen lots of people criticizing Mary Kay products, but they are actually all right. I mean, it's definitely an MLM and what they do is not right, but the products are good.
@@coloreyes123 I like MK too. I don't use it because I don't want to keep up with reordering stuff and find good deals on skin care and make up at ULTA. The first few parties I went too, I didn't get a big sales pitch, but now I can see the MLM part of it, and I have realized how they don't actually teach the consultants how to properly apply makeup. The consultants I have met who know how to have learned elsewhere.
I love the products but so many of them are like that. Pushy then when you won't join rude. I found a rep I love. She lets me order what I want when I want. Not pushy at all and just genuinely nice
I’ve been watching your anti MLM content for a long time and I want you to know that you inspired me to write blog post articles about my thoughts on MLM companies 💕💕💕
I’ve noticed fake comments especially on the “It works” Facebook posts. All these people commenting “pm me” “interested” “this stuff is awesome” are never actually friends with the person whom they are interacting with! I would love to know what goes on in their secret meetings.
As the owner of a small business, I've had so many "bloggers" reach out to try my products and post for their followers to see and I can't even tell you the amount of times I've basically just wasted product sending to these phonies. I get NO engagement when they have like 10-20-30k followers. And then those same people follow up for more product. You have got to be kidding me! What did you think? I would just mindlessly send you things whenever you wanted when we both know your followers + engagement its fake? Now that I got that off my chest, I must say, I just found you recently on your anti-mlm videos and I'm hooked!! Thank you for speaking the truth and not sugar coating it. All those huns terrify me! My husband and I have been approached by random couples thinking they wanted to be friends and twice they pitched a wonderful opportunity to us. lol Anyway! Thanks for all that you do! Also - if you ever wanna get some product from me (we are a 100% vegan, cruelty free, bath, body and skincare company hand-made in Canada! I would expect nothing in return, just want you to have some goodies from moi! So, it's a business called Arbonne... lmao jk. It's called @SkwiikSkinCo on instagram and Skwiik.ca
I have all the Beach Body girls telling me how if I put that $5 from morning coffee towards their program, my life will be changed hahaha not sure how that justifies $130/month shakeology shakes butttttttt ok
I know a girl making 6 figures a month in it works. And another making $7000 a month Monet . They are successful because they actually train those below them and actual sell the products
This is so true. I’ve gotten so many messages from girls I went to high school with that never even spoke to me, but yet they message me like we’re best friends trying to get me into their scheme. And Monat is the worst! Especially with all the lawsuits and negative side effects that the market partners never tell you about when they’re trying to scam you. MLMs are so aggressive and disgusting. I’m glad you used your platform to speak up about this issue. Much love to you!♥️
I also hate companies who ask you to be an “ambassador” and then ask you to pay for something to promote their company. Like noooo. I don’t have a huge following but I am an ambassador for a vegan/cf brand that’s sold at target and an affiliate for Kinder Beauty Box, and I DO NOT HAVE TO PAY. THEY SEND ME THE PRODUCTS TO USE IN EXCHANGE FOR PROMOTION, OR I GET PAID WHEN PEOPLE USE MY LINK TO SIGN UP. YOU SHOULD NEVERRRRRR HAVE TO PAY FOR PROMOTION OR ANYTHING ELSE. Seriously, people please do your research on a company before doing anything else when you get messages like this, whether it’s an MLM or asking you to be an ambassador. Only trust reputable companies!!!
I worked with a girl who did Amway, she didn't out right say it initially but another girl tried to get me to join "Worldwide Dream Builders" at the same time so I went to one of their meetings to make her happy... sooo weird and the leader was like "this stuff needs to be taught in schools and I don't know why it isn't" and yet they couldn't give me any direct information on even what this all was, why would I join? and she was so hyped about getting to pick out a diamond ring when she reached higher, I was like "girl what are you doing, get out!" and yet how do they make sales when I couldn't see them promoting anything. and the one who I went to the meeting with was no longer my friend after I didn't join, that's fine!
Please do a video on makeup MLM companies. My neighbor wants to join one and I'm sad because I can tell once she does that will be the end of our friendship. She knows I love makeup and I feel she will want to sell me some subpar beauty products every time I visit.
@6 ! Thank you! I've tried to tell her. She is very aware it is a MLM and doesn't care that it is. We had a heart to heart talk about it but her mind is set. You're right, it doesn't have to end our friendship as long as she respects my wishes I can respect hers.
I feel super enlightened right now after watching this video...I had NO IDEA what an MLM really was till now. Thank u so much for taking the time to explain all this nonsense. I wasnt planning on ever getting involved with one of those groups but now I'm 1000% sure that will never happen! All the time and effort u put in to researching for this video really shows. Well done! 😊👍👍💜
"It's always a message from a girl that was rude to you in high school like 'hey girl', 'hey hun'" OMG YES SO TRUE 😂
Literally a nicname for MLM reps is "The Huns."
Amanda Cribbs omg so true
It’s gurl
literally just got a message from someone like that with that exact "hey girl" about monat. ugh
Kylie, I really think you should get into business law. You are so passionate about it and that’s what we need!
Savannah Lilianne agreed!! I’ve always thought that too!!
Heck yesss
And in the mean time work for a brand to hire and select influencers to work with. She would know what to spot in social blade and the other tricks.
You’re right,we need woman like that making new laws, prepared to be able to do it..Seeing her fighting for truth gives me hope not all in this world goes bad, there are people who care and burn energy fighting them and their lies.Good for her and all people fighting evil system👍
AGREED!!!!
If it says “ boss babe or entrepreneur” in the bio, run. We recently moved to a military town and I joined a ton of local mom groups to meet people. I was invited to so many “ play dates, girls night out” types of thing, every single one ended up being a mlm sales pitch.
Oh the worst "momtrepeneur"!

Tanya Koliada welcome to America Tanya!!:)
That's awesome! Welcome to America. Seattle is very beautiful
I genuinely think Amway is a cult. It’s so scary the lengths these distributors will go to in order to slowly brainwash potential recruits.
That's a wonderful story, you've got a smart mom.
So many sellers with no boundaries who take advantage of desperate people promising financial freedom
leighannsays Girl, talk about the dangers on your channel too! 💜💗love you💐
KYLIE go to pinktruth.com please!!!
Girl I didn’t even know you watched her too! Love you both 😍
Just started The Dream podcast yesterday.
Like I HAD A BABY the last thing I need is to hear about losing weight right now
🙄😒
Damn, I would’ve been like “sorry if I look like I just carried a human for 9 months & brought life into the world” 😂 congrats on the baby though!!
Billi Rae McDonald Gross! Those tactics are so awful.
I wasn't even out of the hosp yet and beachbody sellers were messaging me!
Omg ever since I gave birth the Herbalife women have been after my blood!!!
Savannah Gokay yes, yes you’re MLMs love that targeting method
She never tried to recruit me;thank God.
stay strong haha
If someone starts a conversation with, "I have a great business opportunity for you," run away as fast as you can!
I'm gonna get you I'm the ginger bread man!
When I hear about people with bot followers getting sponsorships, I just think one of Oscar's quotes from The Office:
"Well this is what happened: uh, Ryan's big project was the website - which wasn't doing so well.
Yep, same thing happened to my friend.
Completely agree over here. I saw a saying on Facebook that said, “Most of the time the grass is greener on the other side, because it’s fake.”
My favorite version is, “The grass is greener on the other side because it’s fertilized with bullshit.” 🤣🤣🤣
It's really sad that some of these sellers actively search out these online support communities to try and make a buck from women when they are feeling their lowest.
unreal. these people are vultures. so scummy.... I'm sorry to hear that happened to you.
I often wonder how people like that sleep at night.

Haha that is hilarious!!!!
Omg she paid for your labor with nail polish? Thats such a macrocosm for MLM pyramid schemes
Well then... that lady is a thief because that’s not payment!
Quite a charachter
They lie up there ass so much who do this shit
Brittany Post yeah I got sucked into a pyramid scheme brand too a few years back, it was Beautycontrol .. I sold over a grand of products and only made about $40 commission in the span of 3 months .. I get joining it for making friendships or just as something social to do but at least be honest and say “you can make a few extra bucks” instead of “you can create a career and earn 6 figures” - luckily I only invested around $100 into it but it’s gotta stop

It does work...... I struggled with weight my whole life until I started using the products
Agreed, MLM is so predatory. It's honestly disgusting and more people need to be educated about it!

Yeah, okay.
Beauddiction tons of red flags! Just block her
@@jackieneversays Already done! :)
I would definitely give an honest review of the product.
Carri's 3RingCircus amen !! Especially the damn leggings !! 😂
Carri's 3RingCircus I may have missed her saying this but what is an MLM stand for?

Sad.
LMAO i saw that post... I am in that subreddit every single day hahaha
Is that the pink drink company lol
It’s sad but Idk if I necessarily feel bad for people who want to get into the “get rich quick” businesses like younique, etc. and most of them just don’t want to work
Katie I spend way too much time there. And lulano
A girl I went to high school did this lol she works for Rodan & Fields
YESSSS!!!! Although you don’t like to refer to yourself as an influencer, I definitely do & I put you at the top of my favourites because you’re the realest out there! 👏🏻👏🏻
Glad someone’s speaking up about MLMs 👏🏻👏🏻
Private investigator Kylie! I'll be hiring you if I ever need one lol!
Her slogan on a car magnet"When am I not mad?! Never! I fight against stupidity!"😂😂😂
Crazy!
I’ve been on the edge of my seat since I saw your IG story lol
LOL
Kiki Chanel I’m so glad you made a video about this because this type of stuff has pissed me off for so long. I get HEATED when people that didn’t like me in high school try to “get on board” with their MLM BS🤣

Look up the income disclosure for Monat. Sketchiest thing I’ve ever seen.
FDA released this report:
which found Monat cosmetics being "prepared, packed, or held under insanitary conditions whereby it may have become contaminated with filth"
I absolutely love that you take your platform to inform others on injustices. Never heard of this and found the video super informative and interesting!

omg i get these messages so often and have girls i know posting about monat but they've all pulled out now after a few months of raving about their huge pay cheques they never received it's so crazy how many people get involved with it!!!
Message from someone who was mean to you in high school 😂 so true.
RIGHT!!!
YEP... or people who just experienced a major loss and MLM recruiters swoop in to say an essential oil is good for grief or depression. FOH
Omg, the “no makeup” look suits you so much! Gorgeous 🤍 I’m binging all your MLM videos
Bc it’s usually not as good as it seems.
wow. california seems like another world to me sometimes
I hate when people promote those teas and diet pills🤦🏻♀️like just eat everything from all food groups in moderation and make sure to exercise.
Parnika Jain Exactly. It’s my own family too, so I see the behind the scenes of them working out non-stop, eating only salad, and then “claiming” that it was the drinks & tablets. It kills me
kelseyemma my mom is like “the key to lose weight is to cut out carbs (bread, pasta) out to a very bare minimum” and I’m like🙄
May I just ask.......is this Plexus???? If I hear one more person about Plexus 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
Ciara Wetherell Yes it is 😂😂 I HATE PLEXUS
It’s sick. Thank you for this 🙌🏽
I have an instagram account for fitness and the amount of coaches who hound me, omg! I put on my info "NO COACHES PLEASE" and that has helped.

I've been additcted to watching MLM rants lately and yours are so great. I appreciate your bluntness and intelligence. I could listen to this all day
I like how when you politely decline they go off on you hahaha
Kayla Lombardo true 💀💀🤣
Kylie storytimes are the best...and 42 minutes long? Jackpot!
Yaasss. I hate MLMs!! Ya love to see a Kylie storytime rant, especially when I 100% agree!
You go girl! I love your honesty. Too many people now try to portray their life as perfect. Why can’t more people just be real? I see these ads all the time and get old “friends” messaging me with deals.
The amount of people that follow me (then unfollow) and DM me with that “hey girly!”) BS... I thought I was the only one SMH 🤦🏻♀️
And these people NEVER STOP. I ALWAYS ignore (and sometimes block) them.
But even when you ignore them... they’ll hit you with that “hey darling, did you see/have you had time to read my message from last week?!”
Like YES CAROL, I SAW THE DAMN MESSAGE AND I IGNORED YOU FOR A REASON.

Glad I realized it's their way of making money by "recruiting" people. Thank you for sharing!
Your voice is actually just so relaxing to listen to when telling stories
I have 8.5 k followers and I always get random ass requests for me to support their brand. I click on their page and it’s some random stuff. I just assume everything is a scam LOL
Your storytimes are so funny, just the way you talk and explain things is entertaining so I’d say more story times (maybe from Sephora?) and more investigations hahaha
Adriana Sclafani Her stories from Sephora and other retail jobs are awesome!
I think she genuinely believes that. These MLM companies brainwash their recruits
Ame2847 yes!! It’s so sad
They do that after withdrawing all the money in their bank account just to put it back in after the video 😂
This is why you’re my fav beauty channel. You’re honest, you stand up for what’s right, and you’re funny lol
I like her bc she seems young, relatable and real. I followed Kiki b4 the sos review.
My husband and I have been approached by random couples thinking they wanted to be friends and twice they pitched a wonderful opportunity to us. lol
Anyway! Thanks for all that you do! Also - if you ever wanna get some product from me (we are a 100% vegan, cruelty free, bath, body and skincare company hand-made in Canada! I would expect nothing in return, just want you to have some goodies from moi! So, it's a business called Arbonne... lmao jk.

I have all the Beach Body girls telling me how if I put that $5 from morning coffee towards their program, my life will be changed hahaha not sure how that justifies $130/month shakeology shakes butttttttt ok
Kristen Evans yes girl spread the word! The subreddits for MLMs are wild
Beach Body is my least favorite of all of them and I’m going to make a vid on it soon
Kiki Chanel hell ya I can’t wait!
Love for then to try that with me... I don't drink coffee
Well done! 😊👍👍💜
