Lol I just an English assignment where we had to read from three scholarly articles and then write if social media “influencers” are actually helping people or just self-promoting. I found out that only a small portion of people who make money on social media are actually helping people. It is pretty sad, but also I think social media “influencing” is on the out. I see more people finding it cringy nowadays and a total scam.
My question is… does anyone ever actually “win”? 😂 I’ve seen a LOTTT of these giveaways but have never seen a “winner” post. Nor have I seen a “giveaway closed” post. Which means that people can just eternally be “entering” the contest. It never expires and no one knows if someone was already chosen to win. Which means an endless stream of emails and surveys being answered… as long as people are seeing that post, they’re entering.
I don’t think so..there’s a problematic influencer family who was giving away a Tesla and then after months of not receiving the won prize the winner announced sued and a lot came out
Can we just take a moment to appreciate the amount of investigative journalism this girl does? She's becoming a master of her craft way beyond being an influencer.

There's this chick I used to know that participated in SO many loop giveaways on instagram back in 2016-2018 (ish). She went from like 500 followers to like 5000 from doing that and then joined Young Living right after that. She's now like at one of the top tiers of the company, 15k insta followers and she makes reels like "you don't have to be spammy, you don't have to send 'hey girl' messages!" Well, yeah, but you still have to grow a following in a crummy, scammy way.
I knew a few bloggers/influencers who went from 30 followers to 30,000 in less than 3 months.content was the generic basic b aesthetic, think snl big dumb hat sketch. And I was like ,girl, it is obvious that you bought followers. Engagement was like 20 likes a picture. The same like 10 people commenting . I was flabbergasted when she was getting brand deals. But they see the followers. Not thinking about the obvious fact they bought the following. And they bought into the giveaway loops.
Another great video to help snap people out of the perpetual manipulation cycle that is so easy to fall for when on the internet. I appreciate someone bringing these "tricks" that influencers use to swindle people.
Thank you for bringing light to this! I used to enter these all the time and had no idea how they actually worked. I thought all of the people in the loop pitched in to get the gifts 😅. Thank god I started to get sketched out by it and stopped entering them!
been here since the Taurus driving days and I just wanted to say im so proud of you Kylie and the life you’ve built for yourself. It’s super inspiring for me. Love you girl
The argument you brought up about "People can make decisions for themselves" or "free will" etc is basically a last ditch argument these sort of people make to justify behavior they know is at very best borderline ethical. If they had a better argument they would use it.

@@bleeka325 The argument is the reason why we pass laws to prevent such behavior as much as we can, because you can literally justify ANY bad behavior with that logic. Agreed.
This is wild! My experience with loop giveaways has been so different than what you’re describing! As a small business, I’ve been part of a few with like only 6 small artists to follow. And we each make something to add to the giveaway. Sometimes the winner gets all the items. Sometimes we split them up for multiple winners. It felt genuine since there is no “influencer” involved and no pay in whatsoever. Plus, often there is a huge crossover of audience in the sustainable small biz scene. What you’re describing is 👀👀👀! I’ve never seen any of these shady ones before! And would never follow 75 random accounts 😂
Most of the time, the influencers doing these giveaways make it seem like they are the ones that bought the prizes and are giving them away because like you said it’s always “I’m doing this because I love you all”. So it’s not obvious that it’s actually the marketing agency handling all of that on the backend and the influencer is just the face of it. I feel like these influencers are taking advantage of the parasocial relationships with their followers.
Simple I stop following.delete them yes plus call them out as well you tube tries to block you as a person to not comment their actions is about money.
I am so grateful idgas about social media and never post now, lol. I remember being tempted by these "giveaways" and wondering, "where are the real winners, though?" 😅 but was too lazy to follow through...NOW I know better! All I need is my husband, cat, and family 🤷🏻♀️❤️❤️
"Do you put any thought into what you do?" With the angry shoulder movements, was just a complete yes for me. 🤣 just yes to everything that was happening there, the anger, the shoulder shrugs, the point. Yes.

Yeah, my husband gets discouraged because his channel gets so few followers and views when such shallow content by influencers gets millions of subscribers. I keep telling him it's because he has ethics.
People focus on followers too much. Just focus on making content you enjoy and have fun with it. Followers come as a by product. But if you’re doing this to get more followers, you’ll be miserable.
The infamous Jessie "Boss" Lee does these too. Hence her large follower count with abysmal engagement. I think we will see a lot of new legislation for internet/social media in the coming years. Great video!
This was so interesting! I've seen those giveaways loads from influencers I follow from reality TV and always wondered how they worked! I've never entered because I always thought they looked like a scam and never saw anyone ever announced as a winner so seemed really sketchy!
Thank you so much for talking about this. I had no idea. I think that it says a lot about your character and who you are as a person that instead of agreeing to these deals, you instead went to your channel and warned others about this. I commend that
I just started watching your channel and I love it. I saw this video today and then saw the Kylie Jenner is doing a giveaway with Crumble. This is really interesting.
Not only all of these things they push on people but🗣🗣💯 "They DO NOT CARE about anyone that follows them or buys into what they are being paid to sell." STOP supporting these fake influencers! Save your money ❤️
Well it all began when we developed tools to produce more than we could consume thus giving rise to private property and accumulation of or hoarding goods. This gave rise to classes. Classes described the relationship to production that people have. I.e. working-class (the who work in the production and distribution of products, or services). The first classes arose in the slavery epoch. This is when slavery was the dominant mode of production, think ancient Egypt. And then there was the fuedalism epoch. Think peasants which were distinct from slaves because rather than being owned by individual slave owners, they were more so tied to the land that they worked which might go through many different property owners hands. And finally we arrive at capitalism where the working class is exploited for profit by the bourgeoisie, the ruling imperialist class. And then they turn around and profit again after us buying their bullshit. A better question is how do we get rid of it. And the answer is socialist revolution. A violent overthrow of the ruling class and abolition of class. Sorry I am a history and economics teacher. ❤
It’s the same as an MLM boss babe saying she will have a giveaway for free product but then never announces a winner or announces a fake winner. It’s all a way to generate more business for the influencer.
Hallelujah! So good that you made this video. Coffeezilla did a video where he and another YT asked Dillon Danis to tweet about a fake crypto company and DD did it without signing or reading anything! If he had, he would have seen that the contract clearly stated that he was going to be embarrassed by the website he was going to promote etc. This showed that he did not read anything before signing the contract and then promoting it!

With the full information we can make our own decisions, but if these influencers with hold any information, then legally we can not give informed consent. Thank you for highlighting these very shady dealings these already super rich and spoiled individuals are trying to pull.
I’ve always been dubious of giveaways like that, but this video really lifted the veil!!! I hope this video blows up.
“Do you put any thought behind what ya do?” will be in my head rent free today lol
I just discovered your videos and one thing i really love is the disgusted look on your face when you dont like something
Lmao same
Love that you expose all these things❤️ Would love to hear your take on the rise of “life coaches”.
This is absolutely repulsive. I always knew those loop giveaways were bullshit but I didn't realize just how vile they actually are!
I agree. It opened my eyes.
This is absolutely repulsive. I always knew those loop giveaways were bullshit but I didn't realize just how vile they actually areb
I wondered how that giveaways worked. I thought there’s absolutely no way Kim K is dropping like 30k on all that Louis V for a stranger 😂
Hell no. She doesn’t even pay her employees!
I don’t think so..there’s a problematic influencer family who was giving away a Tesla and then after months of not receiving the won prize the winner announced sued and a lot came out
@@AmandaPinkPaws dolores??
I was just thinking the same
@@AmandaPinkPawsthe Ace Family. That’s the first thing I thought about
@@MidnightAndLuna that’s exactly who I was referring to..they are terrible humans
Can we just take a moment to appreciate the amount of investigative journalism this girl does? She's becoming a master of her craft way beyond being an influencer.

Thank you. I had no idea. I watch TH-cam, I’m not really on social media otherwise but I’m so glad to know now. You really do make so many important waves and are a great model for bring a human with integrity and making choices in the best and most honest ways.
The best days are when Kylie’s got a new upload for us!!! ❤
6:49 … and magically there’s a cat, enjoying those lovely rays of sunshine 😁
The irony is that there is NEVER a winner picked (or atleast announced). The influencers probably keep all the “prizes” for themselves as part of the payment

I NEED you to cover the jaclyn hill situation 🤣 I'm dying for commentary on that whole koze situation and bankruptcy
YES
Spill!
Please
Same, i hate that she gets away with everything
Haha I literally thought the same thing!
been here since the Taurus driving days and I just wanted to say im so proud of you Kylie and the life you’ve built for yourself. It’s super inspiring for me. Love you girl
I love that she didn’t move to LA. Once anyone does they completely change it sucks. She’s remained the same!
The argument you brought up about "People can make decisions for themselves" or "free will" etc is basically a last ditch argument these sort of people make to justify behavior they know is at very best borderline ethical. If they had a better argument they would use it.
It’s not even informed consent if I don’t know my email is being given away when I enter to win
@@bleeka325 Very true. I was only addressing that argument that is made pretty frequently amongst those who take advantage of naivite of their fanbases.
@@nyandmu oh I totally agree with you that it’s a last ditch argument. Im adding that I think it’s pretty terrible considering these people are still wrong in using that argument.
@@bleeka325 The argument is the reason why we pass laws to prevent such behavior as much as we can, because you can literally justify ANY bad behavior with that logic. Agreed.
@@nyandmu totally and unfortunately our legislative system doesn’t pass laws quick enough. Technology always outpaces
Oh and we’d publicly share the winners/do live drawing to keep transparent!
Thank you for all the updates and info. I've learned alot. Keep doing it I love them.
And my scrapbooking crappola! :}
"Do you put any thought into what you do?" With the angry shoulder movements, was just a complete yes for me. 🤣 just yes to everything that was happening there, the anger, the shoulder shrugs, the point. Yes.
You are an absolute icon Kylie!!! So intelligent and thoughtful!
This is why I will always support my favorite micro influencers who are honest and humble. What would lizzy do and jazupmystyle are both incredible, underrated gems in the beauty industry.
“ because I love you so much”
Gives the same energy as when someone’s explaining a story and they say honestly like 10 times and you started to believe they’re actually not being very honest 😂
Doing the good lords work and warning us of every scam! Love this content! ❤
Yes! I see those giveaways and seems excessive to follow all those other accounts just to win something if you actually do. Thank you for always calling these jokers out!
Girrrl , I'm so glaaaad you givin us the real on these , "influencers"! I just subscribed! Keep on sharin your wisdom sis!💙🤗
Love you & your honesty. I wish your videos were closer together. I binged them all then patiently wait 😊 for your next one.
Keep up the great work keeping us informed on many very interesting topics.
Such a good topic! My thing is- do people actually win these at all? So scammy allll together
Thought the same thing!
So disgusting and shady! 🐍 🐍 🐍 Thanks for letting us know about this!
Leaves a lot of questions and doubts about who can actually be trusted!
Seriously- imagine taking some much time to build a page and following, just to throw all your integrity away with stuff like this…
I just binge watched allllooottt of your videos and love your take on these topics! Subscribed!
I’m currently ✨de-influencing✨ and I love your channel it’s helping me so much ❤️ much love and support
Was so excited to see one of these investigative type clips from you!! Love them. Watched all your MLM ones. I learnt a lot in this vid. Thanks for sharing!!
Kiki has blessed us with another call out video!
I know you’ve mentioned before that you are in Ohio, just checking in and hoping you are doing ok with all the craziness going on there, stay safe!
Seems like a big game of semantics to get around rules... I also see that the amount stay below $2,000 because if it's above $2,000 then that's Federal issue..in some states...
Thanks for all you do to shine a bright light on the insanity that is sales an influence on interwebs... Grateful for you!!
We get love bombed by influencers so we purchase their products...its like an abusive relationship...!! Thanks for educating us on all of these subjects...their icky an fake as funk....thanks for teaching us .
Yeah, my husband gets discouraged because his channel gets so few followers and views when such shallow content by influencers gets millions of subscribers. I keep telling him it's because he has ethics.
What’s the name of his channel? I’d love to check it out!
Would love to check out your husbands channel, too! What’s the name of the channel?
Also they buy followers...
People focus on followers too much. Just focus on making content you enjoy and have fun with it. Followers come as a by product. But if you’re doing this to get more followers, you’ll be miserable.
Numbers don’t mean anything. If you’re happy and passionate trust me, the people will come to you.
Could watch your videos all day, you keep it so real💗 thanks for putting so much into your content!!
I love you ❤️ I thought I was alone in all of this, especially the kids etc. So glad you're speaking up.
I'm happy to see you again! Thanks for this video. It was interesting and I wasn't aware that this was happening.
You are an influencer BUT you use you’re channel for good and truth and that is very respectable and one of few influencers that I follow 😊
Thank you so much for talking about this. I had no idea. I think that it says a lot about your character and who you are as a person that instead of agreeing to these deals, you instead went to your channel and warned others about this. I commend that
You’re so smart girl . I love your videos and commentary :)
the outro had me cackling fr! bingeing your videos love u queen
I doubt that they actually even give away what they say they will. How would anyone know if they didn't?
18:40 agreed. Especially since usually it’s not possible to make an informed decision about this stuff.
Thanks for exposing these things that it's so easy to overlook.
6:22 the "no, i won't" whisper was AMAZING!
How did we go from hunting and gathering to this
Good question!
Capitalism
Greed
This is the new hunting and gathering. Hunting for prey, aka innocent people browsing online, and gathering their information.
I love the knew upgrade to your living room
It’s the same as an MLM boss babe saying she will have a giveaway for free product but then never announces a winner or announces a fake winner. It’s all a way to generate more business for the influencer.
The conservative twins/hodge twins also announced giveaways and it’s a scam
You’ve done well because you stick to what you believe, expand what you know, and deliver to anyone who wants to hear it (and hopefully follow up with their own research) 😅
Ok I agree with everything you say, but also, your house is gorgeous!
I learned so much from this channel thank you
I love gour integrity. I often think I am the only person on Earth with integrity, it is very nice to know that I'm not. Thank you, Keep shining light into the horrible dark places.
You know, I never thought about it this much bc I’m not the biggest influencer fan. However, I love this video for being such an eye opener of the business side behind this!
I used to join giveaway that hosted by brand,so we don't have to follow random account. N the prizes are real
I got oven, cookware set, money etc
Loving your passion and rage.
Oh my God correct 2 seconds in and yes you have a comrade in me as if they are just so grateful for us and so they spent all this money on this lavish gift and this is why they want to give it away because they appreciate us so much never mind you don't appreciate the decimal point in your check or wherever the, may lay 😂
This was a great video describing something I had no knowledge of. Your video made me very happy that I don't put "influencers" on a pedestal and could care less about giveaways, name brands, or celebrities. Thanks for the info, though 🙂
Love your channel. Really. You were the first person I found that helped me snap out of the “knowledge broker” machine. It’s just another pyramid scheme. Thank you!
I'm OK with when a giveaway is for a product/service the person or company I follow normally offers. Like, when the cross stitch "influencer" I love offers a giveaway promotion for one of her kits, I'm excited! But you'll never see me following 100+ accounts for crappy headphones 🤣
Thank you so much! I feel stupid because I had no idea!! 😮
I learned of you while BJ of That Surprise Witness TV was discussing the Better Help organization.
I regret being a month late to this video because I would have been up for finding a way to try to access your last shred of dignity.🤔You seem to be a great communicator with a great heart.
Ive never heard/seen one of these & I’d RUN 🏃🏽♀️ the other way if I did. Thanks for helping ppl learn how to use critical thinking. It’s apparent that some ppl completely lack this ability.
* cough cough * …Millennials, and whatever the group that comes next is.
Great vid!
"Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain" - Wizard Of Oz
I love and grew up on that movie haha 31 years i damn near seen it ALMOST every year around thanksgiving with my family.
I would consider myself a micro influencer, and they number of emails I get from marketing companies that want me to pay somewhere around 3K for a spot in a loop giveaway is WILD. 😂 Right to spam! 😂😂
Wow didn't know they want you to pay to participate!
@@LisaHarvey16 yeah you usually have to pay, they market it as a way for you to gain followers so you pay to be added to a loop giveaway are the more followers the main person has, the more money it is to be added to the loop
No one actually wins. They pick someone in the business or make a fake account so they win it
I love your kitty that was turkeyed over in the sunshine square 🥰🐈⬛ that’s what we used to call it when my sweet girl would lay with her paws tucked under her: Wom is turkeyed over! Bc she looked like a little turkey lol! I miss her….☝🏻Wom!
Your makeup looks so pretty today❤️
💜 It’s always a good day when I open my feed and Kiki has put out a new video!! 💜
You are my new favorite channel. LOVE your videos!
Do you live in like a cabin type of house?!? Obviously not an actual cabin but those houses you’d see in places like a Colorado or New Hampshire or Vermont Pennsylvania type of places?!? My Zia Ellie has a winter house in the birkshires and it is like a huge cabin type of house. I don’t ski or snowboard anymore but I do love going up there for a long weekend and just enjoy the ambiance. Here on the east end south fork of Long Island it gets cold but flip a coin if we get snow during the winter …. Anyway, point is that your house is giving winter cabin vibes and that’s the only part of the winter that I like 😂 ❤
I like to make decisions after having all the facts haha you're 100% right, you don't know the risk, you don't know enough info to make an informed decision. It's misleading and disingenuous for sure.
Lmao “I’ve been live on twitch… doing giveaways” girl I busted out laughing!
Kiki coming in hot! Thank you for shedding light on this scam!
