Can we also talk about the implications that you can binge on junk food and then just take a sip of bloom to stay skinny, healthy and not bloated?? It’s so unhealthy
@@lindensmith549real. these influencers that make people think its okay to absolutely devour junk food and drink some juice to stay healthy is insane and unhealthy.
The fact that she started eating better, lost 90 pounds, and is now exercising on a regular basis is the reason why she feels so much better physically and mentally.
Exactly. This supplement or any others like it are not the reason for the actual weight loss. And to be honest, it would be better to just take the money you were going to spend on Bloom and buy higher quality food.
The only pro I can imagine is that maybe it's a dessert she feels she can allow herself and so she's better able to keep on her regimen if she gets to treat herself?
I thought it was just me. I had the human manifestation of a cat with its back arched. And it must really suck to get so much free stuff you get crampy. Poor child.
I hate this era and everyting about it. you see someone online talking about touchy subjects, mental health issues, body issues , even grief .. first you think oh how brave of them to talk about that stuff.. and then boom! they are trying to sell something and using their story to just make money. so disgustng really. I hate influencer culture
If I buy something mango flavored, I expect it to be mango. I would be suspicious if "mango" suddenly became "chocolate." Is it expired? Did you add chocolate? What in the Willy Wonka flavor factory is happening?
For what it’s worth, ive tried it and didn’t think it tasted like chocolate- I thought it tasted like the advertised flavor. I didn’t even see it advertised by an influencer. I happened to be In target and was looking for something like this to add to smoothies.
6:50 "its mango flavored and it tastes like chocolate, I love how it tastes so i'm gonna chug it as fast as i possibly can so i dont have to taste it for too long"
Also the part about bloating, the before (day light) the after ( the sun went down) the reason for less bloat------she probably had a bowel movement. 🤣
LMAOOOO 😂😂 I can’t believe the ORDER of those statements - it’s mango flavor - i think it tastes like chocolate - tastes sooo good - chug it as fast as possible cuz it’s so good LMAO GIRL THATS NOT HOW…. no
Ignoring my misophonia for a second, the way they make (direct, unbroken) eye contact with the camera when they take a big bite makes me INCREDIBLY uncomfortable.
All the powdered greens I’ve tried are disgusting, don’t dissolve, and look like swamp water. Why anyone would prefer that over fresh fruits and veggies is beyond me
I have trouble eating leafy greens (I am not very picky food wise for a neuodivergent person but leafy greens are so gross most of the time) so I use a supplement. It's not bad taste wise but it's not great either. As long as it's tolerable though I can handle it.
Smoothies are a good way to get your greens in! I used to work at a place that did create your own smoothies, a really popular yummy one was kale, honeydew, and banana. Gets a little squeeze of orange and optional agave (I don’t think it needed it but it’s understandable if you do)
They film themselves eating a massive meal and then drinking bloom to imply that the reason they can eat all that food and stay skinny is because of bloom
Right and not to mention so messily too? Idk if it's just me being nitpicky, but I wonder if they do that to try and further prove their claim. Like, all that to promote a miniscule sip of a green laxative??
And it’s promoting disordered eating! I mean it’s essentially binging but instead of purging by v*miting, it’s taking a supplement to make it all better. It’s not healthy to eat like this.
Seeing this comment 9 months later, I take it that she is LIEING ABOUT THE REPORTING!!! Because she never answered any of your comments asking how she did it!!! There is NOTHING WORSE THAN A LIAR!!! I DESPISE LIARS!!!
My friend and I were so obsessed with bloom at one point and we really wanted our moms to buy it for us, disclaimer we are teenagers and around this time was when we were about 12 or so when the brand was just spreading, we wanted to try it so bad because we believed the packaging and had seen our favorite influencers talk about how good it tasted, my friend’s older sister got it so she tried it and said It was awful, she brought a scoop or so worth in a plastic bag to my house one night, tried it, almost threw up at how vile it was, and to think we were only little kids with the idea that our bloating could go away…
I refuse to go “back” to Tiktok. I’ve completely abandoned my page & following… took 3 years to GET to a point where I made any money at all, & now?? It’s just ads. My FYP is ALL ADS, & I follow over 10k people… I should be seeing content from the creators that got me thru the pandemic, but I don’t. All of the relationships I built are gone, except ONE, one single person, responsible for getting me my following. We call each other every Friday, & send video messages. Probably one of the best friends I’ve ever had, he lives in Ohio I’ve never even met him, and I know he’s “there”. He found me, years ago, shouted out my page, I blew up & went viral, I was obsessed. I consumed tiktok like fuel. That was before the ads. I had a second channel with my son where we’d do Minecraft jokes, every Wednesday & we actually had a little following. Not large, just about 4,000 followers, but they showed up every week! You just have to be consistent, and we were, till we moved and lost the joke book, a few weeks into “apologizing” everyone just dissolved. If I were to make a video on that account I’d probably only get 200 likes. (Or none at all) Then I’d be obsessed with checking it. Social Media is addictive, for me anyway… best if I just stay away. My main is a political page- I’m watching all these people I started with blow up on TH-cam now, they stayed consistent & have much better mental health than I do. I can’t handle it. So I left.❤️🩹
They really are so problematic. I specifically asked for non-religious. They gave me a lady who so obviously was and made me feel so guilty because I wouldn't financially support my drug-addicted father who refuses to go to rehab and used to beat the shit out of me. Like what!?
As a parent I absolutely HATE seeing teachers filming themselves talking to students on tik tok. It is so disturbing to me that these people with such questionable boundaries are teaching peoples children… it’s scary as hell to imagine these people being around your children constantly. I’ve even seen a guy whose content is based around being a “hot tattooed teacher” and meanwhile he’s a high school teacher… that’s fucking terrifying! Someone needs to be checking on these people! It should be allowed at all.
I’m a teacher to middle and high school students and I am disgusted at the THOUGHT of one of my students seeing me as the “hot teacher.” The idea that this guy would have an inflated ego from that is actually horrific. My students are like little innocent babies in my eyes and I couldn’t imagine thinking it was appropriate to film myself speaking with them…
Imagine that teacher has followers that are students. Then anyone who knows that student’s voice will know they are a vaper. Maybe some already knew but that’s up to the student to reveal, not the teacher who’s supposedly trying to help them quit!
As a nurse of 15 years all I can advise is to get your vitamins, minerals, etc from actual food. Probiotics are pretty good for "gut health" but you'd honestly gain more from things like yogurt (not full of sugar), pickles, sauerkraut, kamucha... anything fermented. Our bodies don't retain as much from oral supplements and it takes far longer to see benefits because of the poor way they're broken down and absorbed by our bodies
im curious tho, im sure they must be useful in a couple of situations? idk if it counts as a supplement but i think protein stuff are really useful cause sometimes i just cant eat a bunch of eggs or that much meat. Dont they work okay if they are used as just supplements like little addons rather than the big cure to whatever your diet lacks? sorry if it is a dumb question
Most pickles don’t really have a ton of probiotics in them. You gotta look for lacto-fermented and unpasteurized pickles. Same with kombucha-if it’s been pasteurized, nothing is living in it anymore :(
I can’t take vitamins and supplements - I literally just throw them up - and my blood tests always come back with “above average” levels as in I’m healthy AF 😂 I asked my GP if I should be trying to take anything extra especially when I’m sick and she said no because I’m clearly absorbing it very well from my food. The only thing I do have to take is probiotics if I’m on antibiotics which is so seldom it doesn’t bother me
it seems like EVERYTHING is an ad now. I miss the days when the internet was mainly funny cat videos and goofy songs. And I'm woman enough to admit that I'm extremely jealous of people who are making big bucks just for being pretty and posting dancing/eating/grwm videos. There are so many people who have to work 2 jobs or who have jobs that cause a lot of stress, and they're barely getting by.
No one's stopping you from making videos and profiting off them. There are also plenty of TH-cam creators who do have real jobs and create videos as a hobby or side hustle.
Thing is, it might actually make you skinnier... by making you poop your brains out before you can absorb your food, babe.. that's bulimic behavior!!!!!!
i think it’s interesting how movies have been doing product placement like this for decades, but social media has now implemented it into short form content. at least with movies, it’s pretty obvious when there’s product placement!
In film and television, product placement is contracted with each company and the company pays for the advertising. That is legal. These faux ads on TT showing the product and not disclosing it as an ad is illegal. Different laws.
The owner has experienced improved mental health... okay, she's making $$$$ which will reduce anxiety and improve mood for virtually ANYONE. Lots of money would improve my mental health as well, right, influencers?
right like of course your mental & physical health improved, you got more money for treatments and wayyyyyy less stress due to a successful business. I’d like to see an actually struggling person tell their opinion on if it made even a difference in their life besides placebo.
I HATE when someone is like “My new product helped my mental health so I'm sharing it with you guys!” like how? it's a new product were you testing it on yourself?
Also, she failed to mention that losing weight, changing her diet and getting exercise most likely (ahem…definitely) contributed to her improved mental health.
Really important to note that the “eating genre” videos never show swallowing, they cut the video between each bite. 100% these influencers are spitting out their bites between takes. It’s deceitful, it’s unhealthy, it’s wasteful, and it’s disgusting.
I just wanted to say that I really appreciate the fact that you have no ads and no annoying sponsorship nonsense on your videos. Your videos are so fun to watch!
exactly! even with my most favorite youtubers, it makes me so mad to see an ad out of nowhere or in the beginning. i know they need to make money somehow but at least put it at the end of the video.. it just makes me not want to watch them anymore
It's actually illegal in the US to not disclose paid or gifted partnerships, so it's WILD and not just unethical that these creators and brands are doing this so freely without thinking about the repercussions
Yeah. Because while the company will face punishment, the creators will face punishment too. And that’s going to hit them a lot harder than a wealthy company
it's not illegal but it should be. it goes against ftc guidelines, but again, its not illegal. i think it really should be and we should continue talking about it
Definitely it’s a psychological marketing trick of product placement!! The more you see it, even in the background, the more you feel like everyone has it and you need it.
Marketing is getting worse and worse. People are getting used to skipping by and ignoring obvious ads so clearly they are trying to fix that issue since the critical thinking on tiktok is ABSENT
yes, it’s subliminal. you’ll get used to seeing the packaging and when you see it in store you’ll notice it more than had you not seen it online. it’s like when you get a new car, you start seeing the same type of car you own more often
Yup. I love when shows and movies do heavy advertisement and all the products just happen to have the labels facing outward. Cast Away was basically a 2.5 hour ad 😂
Like REN says in Money Game Pt 2: “Step two, you gotta make the people think that they want 'em Really want 'em, really fuckin' want 'em, hit 'em like Bronson Influencers, product placement, featured prime time entertainment” His Money Game trilogy is definitely worth listening to. It’s here on TH-cam.
No no no you don't understand. She made an entirely new product only for her so she can lost weight and she did. And because she's so generous, she started selling it so so we can be graced with a body similar to hers.
Thank you for talking about this! Used to follow her back in 2019 and ordered Bloom. Literally used it once, it didn’t mix well and it was SO chalky. It was awful. I saw countless videos of them saying it was not chalky and mixed well… Threw it away and unfollowed her immediately. So much easier to eat fruits and veggies lol. So frustrating this “quick fix” mentality. And all the people shoving food in their face to then drink it and be like wow it works! You created a problem by doing that, then used this to “solve it” ?? so weird.
The “professional eaters” make my stomach hurt. They’re not enjoying their food at all, just shoving it in their faces on the edge of choking. It’s disgusting.
@@agood1 oh absolutely. Eating with someone face to face is one thing but that is just gross and I don't honestly understand why people waste their time watching it.
I feel like it's promoting binge eating. "You can binge eat whatever you want if you drink this supplement after! These conventionally attractive thin girls do it so it must be okay!"
I think those skinny girl binge videos are actually eating disorder content. Apparently anorexics will watch shit like that to live vicariously through the girl on screen while they're starving themselves.
It pisses me off to no end when people try to make money off of people who are just trying to make healthy choices for their lives. That said I do appreciate videos like this that call out companies like this.
In case y'all were wondering, Bloom tastes *HORRIBLE* you prolly get the same benefits from smelling an apple as you walk out of the grocery store. Just no.
The colour is so unappetizing like it's giving spinach juice... if it looks like spinach juice and tastes like spinach juice without the amount of nutrients then I might as well chug down the spinach juice
I think the thing that makes me furious is that most of the videos seem to imply you can eat pure crap and then the drink will fix it. We are a broken society when it comes to the food-health connection.
I was thinking the same. “Let’s see how bloated I get eating all this then fix it with bloom!” It even feels slightly dystopian. (Like the pills they gave them in hunger games to help them vomit so they could just eat more.) Really weird to promote a “health” product like that
it has nothing to do with health and everything to do with being skinny. I hate what influencer culture has done to this world. we’re truly so far gone as a society
@@bitchlasagna1exactly. Even Kylie says “obviously she has a great body” Um ok? She looked severely underweight to me. So tired of skinny = healthy. I mean srsly … if women don’t have enough body fat they stop getting their periods, that should tell us something
Please do HelloFresh next 😭 I see them EVERYWHERE and the whole 16 free meals thing is so misleading, not to mention their irrationally tiny portions, but it feels like every influencer (and even those promos that pop up after you buy stuff online) promote them religiously Edit: wow, way too many comments to reply to - thanks for your input, everyone, super insightful! ☺️ The most common thing y’all are talking about seems to be the “tiny” portions I mentioned, so I’ll give some examples (others on Reddit have had similar issues if anyone wants more info, too). At the time (~8 months ago), we were signed up for a 2 person meal 4x per week (so we would get 4 meals in a box, each of which was supposed to be enough for two people). For context, I’m 5’2” and weigh 115lbs. My fiancé is ~6’ and weighs ~200lbs (mostly muscle mass, and yes, his primary dr agrees he’s perfectly healthy lmao). We are nowhere near overweight, but yet very often the portions for pastas, etc. wouldn’t even be enough for me alone. Please read our examples before jumping to say the portions are only tiny for an overweight person ❤️🫶🏻 maybe it’s different in other countries/states/cities/etc. idk but this was our experience: - The chicken meals only ever came with two single 4oz chicken breasts (so 4oz per person). My fiancé works a very physical job, so I often ended up giving him half of mine. I can’t remember the exact measurements we got for beef, pork, etc., but it would usually be one sausage per person per meal 😅 - Whenever we got pasta, I wish I were exaggerating, the packet of penne could quite literally fit in the palm of my hand (I’m 5’2”, I have very small hands 🤣) and that was supposed to be enough for two people - and yes, those were times when pasta was meant to be the entire meal, not just a side. - One time, we had a recipe for ramen. The packet of ramen noodles they provided meant for both of us was exactly 1/4 the amount of what you get in a packet of instant ramen meant for one person (can’t remember the exact measurement right now, but I did the math at the time and will never forget that discovery), and that tiny portion was again meant to be an entire dinner for both of us. Not even a side. - Whenever we got rice with our meal, the packet they provided said 1/2 cup of rice, except when I would measure it, it was often closer to 1/4 cup (before cooking). - One time, we had a recipe for couscous. They sent us exactly 1/4 cup of couscous (even the packet said 1/4 cup). Couscous was meant to be the entire meal, so we each had 1/8 cup of couscous for dinner. We had to order out that night lol. - Veggies: we only ever got one eggplant or one carrot or 1/2 cup of cabbage, etc. so for meals that were supposed to be a pasta stir fry, for ex, we’d have about 3-5 forkfuls of pasta with a couple slices of eggplant, a mouthful of shredded carrot, etc. each. Or if the meal was chicken with a side of roasted carrots, we each only got a 4oz chicken breast and half a carrot. We love veggies, so that was always disappointing. I will say, though, the one veggie we always got a decent amount of was potatoes! We would only ever get one sweet potato though and again, that single sweet potato would be meant for both of us lol. - The lemons were also always comically tiny and quite literally rock hard - impossible to squeeze without a lemon juicer. Literally significantly smaller than a lime. Always. I started to think I was being punked after the third or fourth time this happened, so I weighed one once and it weighed less than 1/4 of a lemon I had bought at the grocery store and also provided less than 1/8 the juice that the grocery store lemon provided (and I was getting every last piece of pulp out with the lemon juicer because I literally couldn’t squeeze it myself) I will say, we did always get extra sauce for stir-fry meals and occasionally had leftover mayo or spices. Pretty sure I still have some 🤣 but other than that, the recipes were often barely enough for me alone. Maybe it’s different by place - people on Reddit claimed to have received 6oz chicken breasts whereas we only ever received 4oz. Idk. I could go on and on about portion sizes, but I’ll leave it at that. We couldn’t afford to increase the number of people on the meal plan so as to get bigger portions, so we eventually gave up and cancelled 🤷🏼♀️ And for anyone interested, the tiny portions weren’t the only issue, either. As I mentioned, we were on the 4 meal/week plan, but veggies would regularly go bad before we could use them up. I’d almost always have to throw out the cabbage, the mayo always had a weird taste as if it had spoiled, and there were several times our beef arrived old, but we could never get a refund because we could never prove it since for the several months I used them for, not a single pack of beef/chicken/pork/mayo/etc. had an expiration date). Not a single ingredient ever did. There was one time my box was delivered a few days early for whatever reason, but we were out of town and the food spoiled. Instead of giving a refund, they just gave us credit for the next box even though I wanted to just cancel at that point. The first few boxes we got were great, but after that, the quality of food just went downhill so quickly and it felt like they were constantly cutting our portion sizes. It was just the strangest thing. Anyway, we cancelled and never looked back! These meal kits can definitely be great - that’s the whole reason I signed up! We both work full time, so meal planning/prepping can be time-consuming and overwhelming. But hellofresh just didn’t work out for us sadly!
I actually love hello fresh. My grandmother had problems eating and it became a fun activity for us and helped her eat while she was still with us. She actually started to eat again.
Teachers recording student conversations is so weird to me. I couldn’t imagine going to talk to a teacher and they just have their phone set up to record the audio.
It’s wildly inappropriate. Not to mention any normal teacher would be busy thinking about the next lesson or what they need to do when they get home- not setting up their camera for a TikTok. These people should be embarrassed.
I work as a teacher and we can get in trouble for even having our phones out on our desks with students in the room. It’s wild that so many teachers film Tik Tok videos with students around.
At this point, I always check out dieticians and what they have to say about stuff like this. They almost always come to the same conclusion and say that most of this stuff is useless. I’ve saved so much money.
Another one I hear is Field of Greens. Would like an opinion on that if you have one. I try to drink the cold press 💯 juices to get more nutrients and hydration.
In the “casual” ads even with it in the background it is always conspicuously turned towards the camera so the viewer can see the label. It’s like ad placement in movies
6:06- Women have higher rates of autoimmune and digestive issues- I think it is literally less about thinking women are gullible and more about exploiting health conditions that doctors have a hard time diagnosing, and once diagnosed have very little advice about what to do. I will say as someone with IBS- my gastroenterologist didn’t have much advice (just various elimination diets to find what was causing inflammation) and only a few medications to offer, but did say to avoid greens powders, probiotics and supplements without the supervision of a licensed dietitian.
I have IBS-D and FODMAPS sensitivities, and these "green drinks" could actually put me in the hospital! I'll just be over here, eating the three vegetables that don't make me feel ill...
@@gasparinha 1000% I can’t eat most raw greens/ vegetables- it’s taken years to figure out a balanced diet that digests well for me and I still have major issues at times. I did indeed get into the whole green juice and celery juice fad in 2015/16- and had a flare so bad I got my first colonoscopy and diagnosis.
@@gasparinhathat’s crazy, I have IBS-C and literally go 3 weeks between bowel movements and green smoothies have been a God send because even the strongest IBS medicine hasn’t helped much. I don’t use bloom, though. But it’s more of a smoothie that I mix with almond milk.
I have Gastroparesis and can't eat most vegetables unless I eat them as baby food. I drink greens powder with the blessing of my Gastroenterologist. I just happened to buy Bloom (it does taste like chocolate to me). I had never seen an ad for it as I do not even have Tik Tok on my phone.
To the bartender influencer that said who cares let the influencers make their money. THANK YOU FOR SAYING THE QUIET PART OUT LOUD! Thank you for letting us know you a lot of you guys will make unethical ads of products you haven’t tried fully yet just for a check.
Yes! They don't even care for their followers, all they want is money. They don't stop and think that they could be negatively affecting their own followers' health. These followers will go to huge lengths to defend their favourite influencers, but the influencers don't even give a rat's ass for their followers.
Michelle the bartender has a big case of the yap. She overshares way too much personal information and has no idea when to stop talking. She has no filter and for some reason, that’s why people like her
I live in France and I was watching a TH-camr that took it every morning and was trying to get it here … glad I saw your video ! They don’t even third party test it but pay all this money for influencers to promote it…
Omg isn’t she the one that was talking about the lady that would only order water and called her weird? I totally remember that! I laughed out loud when I saw her on the screen.😂🤣
I saw an influencer who was going through a miscarriage promote bloom…because what women experiencing loss really need is an ad telling them some snake oil will fix everything 😑
And screw Bloom for using that situation to their advantage because I am sure the influencer herself was in a vulnerable position & the money offered was very beneficial at the time following medical bills.
If you take birth control, just know Bloom has ingredients which has potential to interact with how your medication absorbs. I fell victim to Bloom, and was so paranoid about checking interactions. It also takes like artificial sugar and it’s gross
Right?! You’d think that would stop the behavior but A) they don’t care, they’re still gettin’ paid even IF they had to pay a fine and B) the FTC isn’t doing a damn thing to the people that break this law. I haven’t heard of anyone *actually* getting hit with a fine… I’d LOVE to tho. ❤😊
I agree but I'm kind of confused by what exactly was the issue here. The first few influencer she shows very clearly disclose it is an advertisement. They even put up the banner. If they don't have to do much go advertise according to the company, I'm confused what the issue is. I get the trying to push the bloom and ad hashtags further down, that's shitty but the rest were following ftc guidelines and not being shady imo
I have Crohn’s disease and my Gastroenterologist has NEVER suggested I take any of these “gut health” supplements. Probably, most likely cause he an actual doctor and not some sort of influencer. God I hate that I have to actually say influencer. It makes me cringe so hard.
My bf owns a sandwich shop in SF that absolutely blew tf up on sm, these professional eaters’ managers hit him up asking for free sandwiches or even MONEY in exchange for “exposure”. He laughs in their faces because his sandwiches are legitimately delicious beyond being a trend (his recipes have been stolen by famous “foodie” tiktokers lmao) like, if your product is actually good, in this day and age you don’t need to pay anyone to post about you. They’ll use you for clout either way
My favorite true crime TH-camr Annie Elise always promotes Bloom and I never understood why. It’s like her most promoted product on her channel. Thanks for making this!
I would so rather make a simple smoothie and add spinach. Not only is Bloom is expensive for what you get, but I don’t exactly trust the product. You probably get more fiber too from a smoothie with whole ingredients.
And Greek yogurt! No sugar, use fruits to sweeten it, it’s helps a TON with digestion since most have live cultures, and if you’re looking to build muscle (me), if you eat it everyday and can massively boost you towards you’re protein goal
It reminds me of the videos of most influencers, saying that they’re obsessed with the foundation after trying it once, just once, not over a period of time.
Ugghh I HATE that. Not just foundation…skin care..supplements.. so many do it!! I only ever trusted and took advice from Taylor W as far as foundations go
I appreciate that the first girl is probs joking, but why would Bloom let that be their ad??? It did not make me want to buy bloom. It made me want to block her lol
@sarahklait has a massive following from doing these satire videos. I'm assuming Bloom wants to reach her followers and the best way is through a video that works with the algorithm.
she was joking because her content is "satire" (although tbh she's actually just really mean to people and calls it satire) and bloom just happened to be in there as the ad. it's insanely ironic that she's making fun of influencers when she 1. is one and 2. is being the worst type of influencer by not properly disclosing it
In the 90s this was called Guerrilla marketing, and Red Bull was guilty of this big time. This was before social media, so they’d show up to areas of San Francisco or other cities, and just sprinkle a bunch of empty Red Bull cans into open garbage bins, or even all over the gutters outside of bars. The idea being that people would think “wow, a lot of people sure are drinking Red Bull. It must be super cool!” 😂
It’s no different than product placement advertising used in a lot of sitcoms like Seinfeld, Friends, and The Office - who has the largest product placement of any other show. It’s strategic, subliminal advertising. You see it all the time - CocaCola, Nike, cereal brands, Dominoes. The list goes on and on.
Hey Kiki love your Chanel. I’m a PhD student studying how and why people are susceptible to science mis/disinformation. Really appreciate you mentioning the soft drink companies paying tiktokers to promote aspartame. Reminds me of big tobacco paying doctors to say cigarettes were safe.
@@iemalice5458 mine is actually in science education! But science communication in general is very interdisciplinary so many people who look into misinformation are also in psychology, science, even political science etc. I look at it through the lens of how people learn science (and misinformation) outside of a traditional classroom (e.g, social media, tv news).
I find it really crazy that Bloom is running with the “we’re a small business so we can’t pay you your worth” excuse when I saw massive end caps of them in target. 😂😂
I cannot even begin to tell you how many products I bought based on TH-camr's reviews of things, only to discover much later that they were all sponsored and got a kickback. So maddening. I don't believe any of them now. Remember when people just recommended things because it was genuine and they truly liked something? Seems those days are gone. Everyone has a price nowadays when it comes to social media. And an influencer saying "i wouldn't jeopardize my reputation for the sake of sponsorship money" is a load of crap in most cases.
If I see something advertised that I want with a kickback or when they don’t state it’s an ad, I purposely will not use their link for this reason. I find it elsewhere where they cannot get commission.
OMG the titanium dioxide part yiiiiikes! He was asked what THE MOST harmful ingredient it is & it’s one of their products. That is real embarrassment. Kiki this was SO well done. I wanna see more of this on your channel. You nailed it!!!
I have noticed that there are so many things with titanium dioxide especially certain candies. One off the top of my head is skittles(at least the freeze dried ones). Another thing in food that I have tried to avoid is calcium disodium EDTA, this is in a lot of things especially drinks, propel water has it, so do some sodas. I drank propel water for months because I wasn’t getting the correct amount of electrolytes, I ended up with severe migraines and stomach pain if I remember correctly. I know it’s in things other than food but I think it is only bad if you ingest it.
Just the amount of $$ they pay for shelf placement in Target and Walmart for a new “up and coming small business” has gotta be nuts. They had a better spot than Kim k’s brand!!
I watched a programme on British TV at least a decade ago that tested all sorts of health claims. They had 2 groups of women, one of them had a normal breakfast ( toast with butter and jelly plus a cup of tea) then the other had a green juice. They had their gut analysed before and after the trial and there was no difference between the two groups’ gut health. Your organs do a great job eliminating toxins on their own!
Are you talking about the program that does experiments on 2 groups. Mostly food. Men vs women, obese vs anorexic. Then they'd switch diets???? I used to always watch
That's the deal with almost all of these "gut health weight loss products ", they're basically all laxatives in a pretty package These and the tummy teas and detox teas
This reminds me a lot of when bang energy drink was popular and it sponsor a lot of influencer on TikTok. They would either just mention once or not mention it at all.
Every time I hear one of them saying “make sure you drink your greens” I’m just like why do I have to drink them? What happened to just eating vegetables 🤨😂
I actually asked my doctor about this cause I was thinking about this one or AG1. And he said " don't waste your money they are shit products." I laughed cause I never heard him curse like that. But after we talked about it I got what her suggested. Lol
@@ringoroll its sort of a personalised thing; it depends what you're lacking from your diet or lifestyle. theres no fix all for vague problems without symptoms like "gut health" or something like a bit of bloating (usually kind of normal due to the foods we eat these days and if you experience periods that contributes - though, if you're experiencing *a lot* of bloating thats also a medical concern and could be an allergy or an underlying condition). like for me personally, through talking with my doctor i take magnesium supplements and keep up on my vit d supplements in winter due to my lifestyle. you should be getting all your nutrients from food but if you feel like you're not or you're in america because i think you have to pay heaps for even gp visits, just get a generic store brand multi vitamin. dont worry about things if theyre not currently a problem and youre (at least mostly) getting your recommended serves in!
I agree with everything stated; the most disturbing thing was the media of individuals having a binge eating episode on camera. It's a known fetish sub-culture but there's something so insidious about it being paired to sell a product. Smh. Things like this make me feel like a BOOMER
PharmD here. For 3rd party testing of products, you're looking for NSF certification on performance products like protein powder and USP certification on supplements and herbs. Internal testing means nothing.
@chaimaeasri1216 Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard whey is easily the best and most trusted overall protein powder. My personal preferred (plant) protein is Vega Sport. It tastes awful, but the leucine content is higher than most plant protein powders.
Me! I bought Bloom 3 weeks ago. In my defense, I don’t have TikTok so I had no idea of all the bloom craziness. My main source of social media is TH-cam and I learned about TikTok from you and other creators. I was just looking for greens supplement. I did not purchase based on the claims they make. I went on Amazon, read the reviews, and bloom was at the top of list. I will definitely not repurchase just based on their business practices and will do more research next time. Your videos are always very informative and extremely helpful for us none tik tok users.
@@mish4m00nit actually does taste pretty good. i’m never on tiktok so i didnt know about all the questionable business practices, but i saw some at walmart and decided to give it a try. i mainly drink it for the caffeine since coffee gives me an upset stomach. i havent noticed a change in my mood or bloating or anything like that from it
being a nutrition student in my 4th year of university, I really appreciate that you included the opinion of dietitians! Other people talking about it never do, and there are so many suplements in the market that are being promoted like miracle solvers, and literally do NOTHING that a salad wouldn't do for you (not to mention are so expensive!)
This non-stop ad, Truman show style videos is why I removed tik tok. It just has became just influencer after influencer or people clearly trying to become one Also before I removed the app I had ended up on professional eater tik tok too and I don’t even know how! I could not stop getting them. 😂
i find it so funny that michelle the bartender is KNOWN on tiktok for disclosing too much about her personal life, and she's also the one to talk too much and expose that bloom doesn't care about ad disclosure lmao
Aha I just wrote that in my comment without seeing this one lol. I feel like her brand is messy and bad takes even if she doesn’t specifically brand herself that way
They're marketing is actually really smart. There are so many times that I look at influencer background to see what they buy, how they decorate. And it makes it seem like it's part of their everyday life without being too obvious. I wouldn't buy it but their ads are working .
Binging your content, I'm so into your snarky takedown of all this internet bs, no one is as blunt and straightforward as you! Thankful for your content
33:45 If I had seen this post when I was 20 or younger, it would have been enough to make me buy this product. She has my DREAM body, and that would EASILY have influenced me to try it before I knew better.
Bruh if you don't like it, you can just scroll. I'm not into furries but they are everywhere in 2024. I just scroll away because people are free to like what they like 😂
Hi I'm a psychologist. Actually what they're doing seems really, really nefarious. Instead of outright marketing their products, they are instead always having it visible in every video from every influencer so that it subliminally manipulates the audience into thinking its normal for everyone to have it. It's a very subconscious process, very psychologically under the table. It's kind of disgusting and manipulative to be honest. People should buy your products because they find them useful, not because they have been mentally curated to be imprinted in the minds of media consumers.
Psychologist here too. :) I also thought that. Think about a song you didn't Like but you hear it over and over again and you eventuell, come around and start to like it.
The "mere exposure effect" is how we call it when studying communication😹👌 just seeing something ofter enough can give more positive attitude towards the product/concept/service whatever.
I also study branding and communication and this method is extremely common and now new at all. We also call them "touch points", and sometimes marketing people will use the method of increasing the amount of "touch points", meaning the amount of situations you as a consumer come in contact with the product in your daily life. The theory is that if you start seeing something everywhere, you subconsciously start to form a relationship to it, it seems familiar and safe :)
People taking videos of themselves eating food in their car in the most exaggerated and disgusting way is a new level of pitiful for social media views. Good on the FTC for sending out these emails to influencers but they need to do this with MLMers and the way they get away with barely posting income disclaimers and other things. Btw - I’m really digging the darker hair color on you!
The FBI has been investigating the MLMs for years. They've shut a few down already, but it takes time. I suspect many will get shut down in the next few years.
As a gluten intolerant/allergic person, no not every liquor is gluten free. I've had to find this out the hard way, IYKYK lol. For me personally, whiskeys and bourbons that are made with barley mess me up so bad. After that experience I don't take any chances. No amount of buzzworded superfood greens is going to reverse the effects my body goes through with gluten.
That was Michelle the Bartender who said that. She’s notorious for not only over sharing enough if her life for it to be dangerous, but she also loves to lie and spread misinformation too
Yeah! Someone with celiacs could get VERY ILL from alcohols made from gluten. I have a friend who can only have vodka (and similar) bc otherwise she’ll be very sick. If you’re just going gluten free for fun it’s not a big deal, but if it’s a health condition: avoid!!
My dad is the same. Cross contamination and his guts are GONE! Celiac is an autoimmune disorder, and the intestinal lining is physically different, so a supplement is not gonna do a thing about it.
wow, that video of the hs teacher filming herself speaking to a student about their struggle with addiction is so distressing. even if she disclosed to the student that she was gonna film/post it, i can't see anyway that its okay to do that to anyone, let alone a STUDENT that trusts you...
The student cant really knowi gly consent as the teacher is an authority figure. I work in marketing for a small charity that supports vulnerable adults and we would never ever use them for content, let alone a child!
What bothers me even more is the actual TikTok ads that look like normal TikTok videos. Like not until 5-10 seconds into the video do we see the pop up of the sponsored ad. It’s also even worse when the ads are mirroring current TikTok trends.
So I work as a ugc creator. Someone who creates these ads. And I always try to frame it in a way people know it’s an ad. Or I just sprinkle it in half heartedly 😅 - I also try to only promote products that have actually worked for me.
I have a bachelors in communications, my PR and marketing classes were WILD and I honestly couldn’t believe some of the things that companies are doing and getting away with in general but specifically with subliminal marketing. I am QUOTING my professor here who said “remember guys it’s not manipulation, it’s creative persuasion.” I felt so uneasy. This is being taught on a collegiate level and no one is safe.
Can we also talk about the implications that you can binge on junk food and then just take a sip of bloom to stay skinny, healthy and not bloated?? It’s so unhealthy
i completely agree. you can’t just buckbang on mcdonald’s in your car then expect it to all be reversed by a sip of powder water.

It just shows that Bloom doesn't actually care about health at all.
Absolute facts right here!

I happened to be In target and was looking for something like this to add to smoothies.
if it has cocoa fiber it could have slight cocoa taste but i doubt that's the case
I’d like to know the company who hired that annoying sounding thing for being given the headache of a lifetime 🙄🤦♀️
It probably tastes bitter and a bit sweet and that's where the chocolate comparison is coming from
It has Stevia and is really sweet, but gritty. It's not bad tasting really, but doesn't do anything

All the powdered greens I’ve tried are disgusting, don’t dissolve, and look like swamp water. Why anyone would prefer that over fresh fruits and veggies is beyond me
I think I'd rather even eat kale than drink these powders. But seriously, I'd rather have an apple and some Brussels sprouts.
Fresh fruits and veggies are expensive I guess
I have trouble eating leafy greens (I am not very picky food wise for a neuodivergent person but leafy greens are so gross most of the time) so I use a supplement. It's not bad taste wise but it's not great either. As long as it's tolerable though I can handle it.
Smoothies are a good way to get your greens in! I used to work at a place that did create your own smoothies, a really popular yummy one was kale, honeydew, and banana. Gets a little squeeze of orange and optional agave (I don’t think it needed it but it’s understandable if you do)
Oh god same I thought it was just bad luck or because I got a smaller brand, but it was HORRIBLE 🤢

@@cartoongrl0706and the way they cut out them swallowing it is sketchy to me.. they’re most likely spitting it out imo
And it’s promoting disordered eating! I mean it’s essentially binging but instead of purging by v*miting, it’s taking a supplement to make it all better. It’s not healthy to eat like this.
Totally not because of spitting and puking

My friend and I were so obsessed with bloom at one point and we really wanted our moms to buy it for us, disclaimer we are teenagers and around this time was when we were about 12 or so when the brand was just spreading, we wanted to try it so bad because we believed the packaging and had seen our favorite influencers talk about how good it tasted, my friend’s older sister got it so she tried it and said It was awful, she brought a scoop or so worth in a plastic bag to my house one night, tried it, almost threw up at how vile it was, and to think we were only little kids with the idea that our bloating could go away…

that’s why i don’t even go on tiktok. it’s just endless ads, even when it’s not listed as such. everything revolves around products- it’s depressing.

And now they wanna charge us a premium to go ad free. They'll make it worse to push more people to pay that premium.
You should do a video on how every influencer is sponsored by Better Help and how problematic this company is...
She actually already did!

Agree 100%
I’m a teacher to middle and high school students and I am disgusted at the THOUGHT of one of my students seeing me as the “hot teacher.” The idea that this guy would have an inflated ego from that is actually horrific. My students are like little innocent babies in my eyes and I couldn’t imagine thinking it was appropriate to film myself speaking with them…
Imagine that teacher has followers that are students. Then anyone who knows that student’s voice will know they are a vaper. Maybe some already knew but that’s up to the student to reveal, not the teacher who’s supposedly trying to help them quit!
So you have an issue with sowmthign that isn't BSD because sometimes stuff goes wrong with it? What?
I don’t blame teachers for supplementing their income with social media, but do it without bringing your students into it!
0:17 MAKE IT STOP
my exact thoughts 😭😭 send help 😭
Omg are you watching me??? I honestly almost screaned "ahhh make it stopp" within seconds.
Same with kombucha-if it’s been pasteurized, nothing is living in it anymore :(
So I’ll just stick with my pickles 🥒
I can’t take vitamins and supplements - I literally just throw them up - and my blood tests always come back with “above average” levels as in I’m healthy AF 😂 I asked my GP if I should be trying to take anything extra especially when I’m sick and she said no because I’m clearly absorbing it very well from my food. The only thing I do have to take is probiotics if I’m on antibiotics which is so seldom it doesn’t bother me
I’ve also found the only time probiotic supplements are useful for me is after I’ve had a round of antibiotic medication.
it seems like EVERYTHING is an ad now.
This! I would love to be an content creator I know at my age I wouldn't get half the views compared to these young people
I agree with everything you said...
Yup, but karma is a..... 😉
i’m glad i’m still on the funny cat videos side
No one's stopping you from making videos and profiting off them. There are also plenty of TH-cam creators who do have real jobs and create videos as a hobby or side hustle.
Also, I think the marketing to women comes from diet culture... The "important" thing for women is to look good and be thin
Drinking doesn't make them feel as bad as eating does, in my experience, even tho it's worse.
Especially Alex Earls post with the tiny amount of “bloating” she had. She was super duper tiny beforehand, bloating or not.
Thing is, it might actually make you skinnier... by making you poop your brains out before you can absorb your food, babe.. that's bulimic behavior!!!!!!
and god forbid a skinny woman ever be bloated
yeahh… it is…
i think it’s interesting how movies have been doing product placement like this for decades, but social media has now implemented it into short form content. at least with movies, it’s pretty obvious when there’s product placement!

I had this exact thought! Of course her mental health is better with Bloom, she’s raking it in
I HATE when someone is like “My new product helped my mental health so I'm sharing it with you guys!” like how? it's a new product were you testing it on yourself?
Also, she failed to mention that losing weight, changing her diet and getting exercise most likely (ahem…definitely) contributed to her improved mental health.

Please do HelloFresh next 😭 I see them EVERYWHERE and the whole 16 free meals thing is so misleading, not to mention their irrationally tiny portions, but it feels like every influencer (and even those promos that pop up after you buy stuff online) promote them religiously
Edit: wow, way too many comments to reply to - thanks for your input, everyone, super insightful!
Please read our examples before jumping to say the portions are only tiny for an overweight person ❤️🫶🏻 maybe it’s different in other countries/states/cities/etc. idk but this was our experience:
- The chicken meals only ever came with two single 4oz chicken breasts (so 4oz per person). My fiancé works a very physical job, so I often ended up giving him half of mine. I can’t remember the exact measurements we got for beef, pork, etc., but it would usually be one sausage per person per meal 😅
- Whenever we got pasta, I wish I were exaggerating, the packet of penne could quite literally fit in the palm of my hand (I’m 5’2”, I have very small hands 🤣) and that was supposed to be enough for two people - and yes, those were times when pasta was meant to be the entire meal, not just a side.
Always. I started to think I was being punked after the third or fourth time this happened, so I weighed one once and it weighed less than 1/4 of a lemon I had bought at the grocery store and also provided less than 1/8 the juice that the grocery store lemon provided (and I was getting every last piece of pulp out with the lemon juicer because I literally couldn’t squeeze it myself)
I will say, we did always get extra sauce for stir-fry meals and occasionally had leftover mayo or spices.
We couldn’t afford to increase the number of people on the meal plan so as to get bigger portions, so we eventually gave up and cancelled 🤷🏼♀️
And for anyone interested, the tiny portions weren’t the only issue, either.
But hellofresh just didn’t work out for us sadly!
they used to actually have free meals but they stopped doing that because people were exploiting the system by making new accounts 😭😭

Teachers recording student conversations is so weird to me. I couldn’t imagine going to talk to a teacher and they just have their phone set up to record the audio.
Depending on the state, that’s even legal to do without notifying the other person. I think Alabama is one state that allows this
It’s wildly inappropriate. Not to mention any normal teacher would be busy thinking about the next lesson or what they need to do when they get home- not setting up their camera for a TikTok. These people should be embarrassed.
If I found out my child’s teacher was doing this, I would be livid. It’s wholly inappropriate on many levels.
It also looks like the first teacher is recording into the locker room 😬 yikes!
I work as a teacher and we can get in trouble for even having our phones out on our desks with students in the room. It’s wild that so many teachers film Tik Tok videos with students around.
I’m a registered dietitian and I already don’t like most greens powder supplements, but bloom as a company has always given me the ick
What do you think is the problem with green superfoods? As a dietician I mean. Would love your opinion. I do find bloom problematic
Are there any greens drinks that are ok?

At this point, I always check out dieticians and what they have to say about stuff like this. They almost always come to the same conclusion and say that most of this stuff is useless. I’ve saved so much money.
Another one I hear is Field of Greens. Would like an opinion on that if you have one. I try to drink the cold press 💯 juices to get more nutrients and hydration.

6:06- Women have higher rates of autoimmune and digestive issues- I think it is literally less about thinking women are gullible and more about exploiting health conditions that doctors have a hard time diagnosing, and once diagnosed have very little advice about what to do.

@sarahklait has a massive following from doing these satire videos. I'm assuming Bloom wants to reach her followers and the best way is through a video that works with the algorithm.
A lot of people love satire content and support satire creators
It read as satire like making fun of it almost

In the 90s this was called Guerrilla marketing, and Red Bull was guilty of this big time. This was before social media, so they’d show up to areas of San Francisco or other cities, and just sprinkle a bunch of empty Red Bull cans into open garbage bins, or even all over the gutters outside of bars. The idea being that people would think “wow, a lot of people sure are drinking Red Bull. It must be super cool!” 😂

I miss when people would do shopping hauls and honestly express whether or not they liked a product
I always assume the products are garbage. I will always skip sponsor segments in TH-cam videos. It’s so manipulative.
usually the sponsors are skipped my many ppl and i honestly think the creators dont expect us to buy it either . they're just in for the money mostly

It’s highly effective!
Im getting my degree in psychology currently and i also agree! I noticed that as i was watching
People taking videos of themselves eating food in their car in the most exaggerated and disgusting way is a new level of pitiful for social media views.

Celiac is an autoimmune disorder, and the intestinal lining is physically different, so a supplement is not gonna do a thing about it.
Thank you! I have celiac disease and a lot of liquors are not gluten free.
wow, that video of the hs teacher filming herself speaking to a student about their struggle with addiction is so distressing. even if she disclosed to the student that she was gonna film/post it, i can't see anyway that its okay to do that to anyone, let alone a STUDENT that trusts you...
and she profitted off it too, to add insult to injury🤮
