Some of your songs take a little while to grow on me, John, but I’ve loved this simple hymn since the first time I heard it; the playful twisting of the melody with your guitar strumming; the clever lyrics, with a hopeful and vital message. One of your best!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I watched the video of how the song got to this point with all the polish and glitter. Not that it was necessary IMHO. Very well done by both of you guys. Being a person with enough curiosity to cause the extinction of the feline population of this planet leads me to one of two questions about the process you use. How do decide on the music you will use to accompany yourself after you write the song? I hope you dont mind me asking how you do it. Thanks soooo much for these videos.
Good question, generally It depends on the style and message. Jon has a virtual library of instruments to choose from and he sometime grabs one off the wall in the studio as he does with the Bass on this song.. I have a good touch for knowing what kind of sound I want . Jon and I talk about what would fit. Mother Earth has a quiet power in itself and needs a light touch where as a song like "Flag of Freedom" requires a big and burly accompaniment. I have two books on Amazon titled "Songs of a Traveling Troubadour" and "This Singin' Thing" both in kindle or print that you would find interesting.. JRW
Thanks to your thanks that you pray today/thanks for the music that you play ; ) xo
And thanks to you/my blessing for today. JRW
