- Streaming on a low-end pc can cause a lot of stream performance issues. We are going to try to fix stream lag, dropped frames, game lag or game stuttering. To stream with a slow processor and an old graphics card, we'll have to fix some things that lower performance and we'll also have to set up very low stream settings. But! Thank you so much man! This helped a lot. I tried to stream Dirt 2.0 didn't understand why I was getting only 15fps when on ultra-low settings when I was playing on high when not streaming. Now my friends can watch me fly into a tree in glorious 60fps.

I have a pretty mid range PC didn't really feel like I needed to do any of this but still applied some of the things here. I mostly play RPGs so setting the FPS to 30 I feel like will help a lot and running OBS as admin definitely will help.

I'm a couple years late, but thank you for the tip about swapping to OBS Studio. I noticed my CPU usage would sit around 22% now compared to Streamlabs OBS which would sit anywhere from 38% to 45%! That's an absolutely absurd difference of resources that can be spent on the game instead of the software while maintaining the same quality. I originally used Streamlabs because I liked the UI more, but it's sure as hell not worth it.

You can save up for a budget pc build man! Get a decent nvidia card with NVENC, a pretty cheap processor etc. There are a lot of budget builds out there.

Yall think that you got the crappiest PC? Mine is a Potato machine powered by lemons. I also use carrots as microphones and cabbage as headphones. Tbh i get around 0.1 FPS and i think that's pretty decent. If you are wondering how i watch this video... well my internet router is the brand new tp-corn 2000 works perfectly fine. I download games with 0.2 kb/s.
I really think that for streaming, internet speed is way, WAY more important than performance.
Of course, your perfs may be a bottleneck, but it is generally connection.
If your PC is old, try stream old video games on emulators, many old PC can run that AND stream them without any problem.
But if you have too low internet (below 1Mbps) then it will be hard to do quality stream, in the technical way.
Literally just found this video and followed everything did a speed test and found that my upload speed was really really low. Not sure if I'll be able to stream with such a low bit rate

GUYS! I've been struggling with in-game latency for the past week and have been troubleshooting with lots and lots of obs settings. While most online tips do make a great improvement, the last thing that I did to make the game playable on a setup with obs and Geforce Now was... stupid, but it worked. I just made the preview in OBS as small as possible. To the point where it's less than 100 pixels wide (or just as small as you can get it). I don't know what happens, probably the GPU doesn't have to render and send as much data, or whatever, I don't know and I don't care, as long as I can stream in peace. Hope this may help those of you out there starting with low end pcs. And it's not inconvenient either, you can just build your scene however you want, lock it, and adjust the OBS modules to make the preview small. Incredibly easy tip, and it's made a huge difference to my performance in-game compared to any other setting taken individually. Good luck, and Have fun! :)
Stream labs has something called performance mode where it just won’t show the capture screen in obs but it’s still being streamed

using 8600k on 4.8ghz and gtx 1080 get extremley low fps in apex while streaming and weird fps drops in csgo sometimes.And sometime only the game lags and the streams works perefctly while the edge is open in background or using a second monitor

Depends. If you have an nvidia graphics card that has an NVENC chip, use that as your encoding option in the output settings. That'll take most of the stress off the cpu and you'll definitely be able to stream.
If you don't have an nvidia card, then choose fast of faster encoding in the output settings.

I record kingdom come, but my obs always not responding in 10 minutes. I have i7 Nvidia... Forgot around 2k up, 16gb ram. i already do the set as admin and follow every tutorial and still the same
That shouldn't happen. Are you sure your pc isn't affected with malware? Sometimes you have to do a complete reinstall of windows. I've done that multiple times in the past.

i got a windows 10 latop but it only get about 30 fps when i'm lucky it gets to 40 fps
I also have a windows laptop it gives 10fps and crashes (minecraft single-player on the lowest graphics)

What encoder do you use? If its x264, what encoding preset do you use? Like fast Faster etc

Add them as browser source into OBS. You can get the link on your Streamlabs dashboard.

Hey i have some difficulties with my headset for stream labs obs. When I connect my headphones that have a mic to my desktop, stream labs obs would not find the current device that is connected, and my mic audio isn't working too. Please help me. probably unlocks something on how it handles recording in the system rather than handling something
idk how to explain
but admin has probably something to do with how it handles recording and uses the system but if it doesn't have the system privileges it will use something like a backend
im no smartass and didn't look at the code of obs ok
but running an exe as administrator gives it full permission to your system (except deleting windows since that has to be a trustedinstaller)

It's weird. My stream completely cuts out randomly, even after switching to ethernet. Twitch Inspector says no unstable events. Hopefully switching to OBS and changing these settings will help. I bought an ethernet adapter and everything, thinking that would fix it but alas! I can get a stream to last long on twitch inspector test, but not a real stream :( And it didn't used to do this the first 2 months of streaming... making me wanna give up but hopefully I can figure it out

I've never had an amd card. But I hear many people saying that the amd encoder is worse than a low quality x264 setting. You have to test them both and look at the difference

I just found out that you can crop your webcam at a new Scene in OBS then put it on your game screen.
I'm using 320x240p webcam settings but it looks decent with my 720p stream and can help Low-Mid end PC gamers like me... x264 stream games with less FPS loss in game.

Using a 2019 Asus F512DA, Ryzen 3 3200u, Radeon Vega 3, 12GB RAM, Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2 Gen3... I can record/screen capture fine in OBS Studio (I am using it for music video reactions with no problems) ... But, when trying to use StreamFX plugins, for blur, etc., I am having serious issues. Complete lag, dropouts, etc.
I do have a question though... while recording/screen capture, I cannot see myself on my screen. I can see myself in OBS Studio, but when going full screen in TH-cam to start the recording, I disappear and only see the video I am recording. Is there any way to see myself while screen capturing during the reaction?

I got an OptiPlex 3020 and installed an Nvidia GeForce Gt 1030 in it. However, the graphics card does not show on OBS for me to selected while streaming. Any Advice? @The Video Nerd or anyone else that can help me with that please.
