One of the best things about this game is the creepy Asylum setting. Despite the other games being really good and fun, none of them were able to recapture the spooky, gothic feeling this game created.

2009 was such a great year for games. Assassin’s Creed II, Modern Warfare 2, Minecraft, Resident Evil 5, and of course, Arkham Asylum.

I was 11 when this game came out. This game saved me from getting depression. Literally. My parents got divorced in 2009 and this game took all my attention away from my parents fighting.

Of course I love arkham asylum for how well they portrayed Batman and how good the combat and the story and the gadgets were. But I loved how spooky and creepy it was. I get nostalgia every time I hear the intercom go “dun du-dun dun” and just thinking about the spirit of arkham things with the bricks with spiders on them. Everything about this game is awesome the costume the story the villains and it was the first game to introduce me to Batman, after playing this, I started reading Batman comic books and watching the movies. This is the best game I’ve ever played because it had such awesome fighting, boss battles, and it gave me the weirdest yet most awesome feeling. The other Arkham games were good, but none can compare to the one that started it all, Batman:Arkham Asylum.

Alot of people say Arkham city was the best one but I say Arkham Asylum is. It was dark, gritty and had the feel of the comics.
Id say City was overall better but there are things that were better in Asylum

A still remember the first time playing this, I got stuck on the first riddle about Quincy Sharp, as a kid I didn’t know the riddles were in the immediate area, so I was running all around the Asylum, and was stuck there for weeks😆 now I’ve beaten both Asylum and City over 20 times, know them like the back of my hand, I’ll even recite most of the lines as I’m playing along, but I’ve only beat origins once and Knight maybe 3 times

I was 11 when this game came out. I would always come home from school and play it to help me get through the week. It got me through tough times. 2009 was a time we all took for granted. What I would give to go back and relive those simpler days. Rest In Peace Kevin Conroy. ❤

I'm still playing one of the best superheroes game ever made.
The Arkham series as a whole was amazing, each game contributing more, but there was something about Asylum that was much more atmospheric and mythical. I suppose it was because of the setting, not much was known of what happened previously, and how you were stuck in one place.
i used to watch my brother play this game when I was little and now for the first time i started to play it and it's truly a masterpiece
I wish i could go back and play this game again for the first time, Arkham City was a masterpiece, Origins and Arkham Knight were good but this was where we truly seen how great a Batman game could really be.

I remember I played this Batman game for the first time on Sony PS3 in September 2009 and I also played it on Microsoft Xbox 360 in about the early 2010s.
I have it on Microsoft Xbox One as Batman Arkham Collection.
It's a great game! The graphics look amazing! Its voice acting is really good especially from Mark Hamill himself who voices the madman Joker.
It's definitely one of the best video games of all time.

No one except a few devs consider this canon, furthermore the entire plot of Suicide Squad KTJL is utterly null and void since they didn't kill any "true* justice league member.

This is the only Batman scariest horror game I have ever seen
This Batman game was the beginning of the best video game series ever, and the first time I got home and saw my dad playing it on our PS3 I loved it instantly. Because Batman has always been my favorite superhero. I have played and beaten every Batman Arkham games except for Batman Arkham Knight because I have never had a PS4 or a Xbox 1 but like 2 years ago I got to play it on my best friends Xbox 1, and I loved it so much. I just watched a play through of Batman Arkham Asylum, because I was thinking of it at school and it really made me want to play it. So i watched it.

How was this not 100/100 or 10/10 everywhere?! This game was fantastic! From the voice acting, to the combat, and the story? And Rocksteady actually improved on quiet a bit in Arkham City.
I think I'm going to replay this and see how it holds up. I remember thinking it was amazing when I played it years ago.
Played this first at a kiosk in Best Buy when I was 6. I literally grew up with this series
I was never really a Batman fan as a kid growing up, but after playing Arkham Asylum as a teenager i became a fan. The environment in Asylum was gnarly, creepy and wicked. The atmosphere gave off this unsettling feeling which was really cool. The story was great, the combat was fun and the graphics kicked ass. The developers really crafted a outstanding game that's still fun as hell to play even today. The first two Arkhams are legendary.

You should have bought all of the games, and played them in order of the Arkhamverse Timeline: Origins, Asylum, City, and then Knight.
Lmao I can't imagine starting with Knight, I remember falling in love with Asylum at age 8, this series has stuck with me for the longest. I'm 15 now and I have beat and love each game, except for Origins though I just ignored that one.

However, None of them will ever be the equal to The Dark Knight and to the incomparable Kevin Conroy who has not just voiced the undeniably Greatest of all superheroes -- but he brought unimitatiable life to the very essence and soul of this special character.

I wish we had an old school gothic gotham themed game based around Batman’s detective work maybe like a long halloween themed game but really dark that would be awesome. With the victorian designed game and maybe some times we play as bruce. I think one film that really captured something similar was Batman Gotham by gaslight animated film!
