I bought it when it came out, and was disappointed, as it felt lacking in comparison to Batman: Arkham City. For example, Origins didn't feel as inventive as City (such as the way Origin's glue grenade was like a copy of City's ice grenade, or the way in both games you had to follow the blood trail of an injured female ninja, etc), Gotham in Origins wasn't as fun to fly around in as in City, the way in Origins you didn't have as much choice as to the order in which you unlocked upgrades, etc. But I came to realize that it really is a great game. It has the best story of the four Arkham games, it's the best of the four for overall boss battles (though my favourite Arkham boss battle is still the Mr Freeze boss battle from Arkham City), we get to see the Bat Cave, and meet Alfred, and it's the only game to correctly portray Jim Gordon (in this game he's not an incompetent drone who needs to be rescued by Batman, Bane (and Origin's story even explains why Bane is missing his once great intellect in the other Arkham games), and the Joker. The Joker's portrayal in Origins is much better than in the other three games, as Origins convincingly shows him as brilliantly intelligent, amazingly capable of achieving what he wants, and utterly insane. In the three other games, you could believe that the Joker is a very eccentric person who puts on an act for effect, but in Origins he really does come across as brilliant but insane. And aside from the bugs (which were never patched out, unfortunately) the gameplay in Origins is as good as in City or Asylum. And now Origins might be might second favourite Arkham game. Knight is my first favourite (and my favourite game of it's generation), the second is probably Origins, third is City, and forth is Asylum, though I think all four are brilliant.

And I hated the way the upgrade tree was so linear, forcing you to purchase all of the armor before you could get the useful stuff, such as the Special Combo Boost upgrade that reduces the need for eight hits to five. And what if you wanted to play the game WITHOUT the armor upgrades, but with some of the later upgrades, as a self-imposed harder challenge? You couldn't to this in Arkham. It was things like that that disappointed me when I first played Origins, not something as pointless and irrelevant as the name of the company who made the game.
+Chris Rocks money wouldn't be the issue, to make a movie completely CG that's a couple hours long would cost about 150- 200 million, but a studio like Warner bros. could afford that, by then it comes down to generating a profit, and with all the live action super hero movies coming out, it probably wouldn't happen unless there was a change in trend.
This is one character where you can be nearly certain they would profit from the venture, I think it's more that traditionally speaking Batman movies have been live action and that's what we have become familiar with. They could portray Batman exactly like the comic if they did take the CG approach though which would be fun to watch.

This is everything I want in a batman movie. A main villain, good action scenes and awesome choreography, and fast paced fight scenes that showcase the abilities of both batman and deathstroke and how close they are in h2h combat, not to mention the soundtrack to go with the scene and since deathstroke is a mercenary it can also set up a sequel movie.

The actual choreography isn't the issue it tends to be because the CG required for the moves like this would stand out too much in a live action setting. Getting the movement to look realistic and rendering it seamlessly with the environment and real people would be expensive and time consuming
Besides, CG characters are really beating themselves up whereas in live actions, camera tricks are used to imply that since they can't afford letting actors hitting each other for real.

Origins didn't go leaps and bounds above Arkham City's technical design but that didn't make it any less enjoyable to play. If you didn't like it then that's fine. I'm just saying it's a solid game which expands upon the Batman mythos and was allowed to experiment with new features not present in the Rocksteady Arkham games. Features like fast-travel, multiplayer, gadgets, and crime scene reconstructions. A lot of people just focus only on the flaws and do not talk about the features Origins did right. The story was great, the character and level designs were good, best boss battles in the series, and the gameplay was just as fun as Arkham City. Also I felt characters like Bane and Black Mask were the best versions of those characters outside of the comics.
I agree and disagree. Let me start with Fast-travel: It wasn't a good idea because flying around the city and seeing all the landmarks, maybe some easter eggs etc is part of the game, if you're using the batwing in a pre-rendered cutscene how are you going to see all the hidden goodies? Story: The story was good, the only thing I didn't like was the Joker...again and the fact that Deathstroke and Deadshot were only in it once, though they advertised them so much that lead me to believe they were in it more than once and that Deadshot wouldn't be a fudging side-mission. Multiplayer: While the multi is fun, playing as the thugs has drifted way too much away from the core mechanics of the game. If the thugs had their own set of gadgets - like a flash-grenade - could do stealth takedowns and had an equal advantage as Batman & Robin then it would of been so much better, and I hate the whole idea of purchasing weapons off the PSN Store or Xbox LIVE Marketplace, it'll give them an advantage that some other players may not be able to get. Character design: Yes, character design was almost perfect, Deadshot, Deathstroke, Firefly and Black Mask look amazing, way better then Rocksteady's designs in my opinion. Killer Croc, Alfred, Bane, and Joker I didn't like - Killer Croc looks like an idiot, Bane looks like he's either a wrestler or some weird porn star (His mask) Joker didn't originally have make-up on his face, but in Origins he does and I don't like that. Boss Battles: Were just plain awesome...
Mass Debate™ As you pointed out the game has its pros and cons. But would you have rather had the cons appear in the sequel rather then a prequel game? You don't have to use fast-travel or multi-player if you do not want to but the option is still available to you, much like Detective mode. Story and character design is entirely in the eye of the beholder. Overall the game is pretty solid.
Maximus-Kanic Well it's my opinion nonetheless and I stand by it. The only boss battle in Arkham City that I enjoyed was Mr. Freeze. Grundy and Clayface felt like standard platforming bosses like in a 'Jak & Daxster' game. Bane was very well done and we got to see why he became the steroid monster in Asylum. If the game didn't meet your high standards fine that's okay, who am I to judge other people's tastes. But I know I am not alone in liking this game either.

I love Arkham Origins so much. It reminds a lot of Batman Returns in atmosphere. The fact that it is set on a snowy Christmas Eve helps make the environment and atmosphere so great. The story, characters and soundtrack are fabulous. and a more open bigger Gotham sells it for me. Like Arkham Asylum and City, Arkham Origins is outside of the 1990s animated series, the best portrayal of Batman, even besting the comics in many ways. Arkham Origins has everything a Batman fan could want.
It's just a shame how Slade and Black Mask had way less of a role in the game than advertised and how it was way more about Bane and Joker. It really sucks Black Mask wasn't the main villain of the game and it was all about Joker again.
It's such a great game! And it's superior to its predecessors in so many ways: better story, the best goddamn Batman suit ever, the best atmosphere in a Batman game, better controls, great boss fights that actually present some challenge, the city is bigger, I can keep on counting, its really good.

Anyone else disappointed with how Deathstroke turned out in the game? Sure his boss fight was pretty cool and challenging, but he was taken out WAY TO EARLY. I expected him to be around for the whole game- as a recurring boss who shows up when you least expect it and a constant pain in the ass. Instead he gets taken out early and is never seen again. Deathstroke and Bane should have SWAPPED roles in the game.
Eh I agree it would have been nice to have seen more of deathstroke but I feel like switching him with bain wouldn't work. I don't think Deathstroke agree to the contract after it was revealed that Black Mask was actually the Joker. Remember that Joker and Deathstroke aren't fond of eachother, seeing as Deathstroke wasn't let out of his cell during the black gate riot. They chose him because he was good at what he did. Even the missing eye was due to his wife after she learnt that their Son was killed by people who offered Deathstroke a contract to kill the Batman. But after Deathstroke refused, those people killed his son as a lesson. I wouldn't consider Arrow as a reliable source for the origins of Comic Book characters. I like the spin they put on things but it is not the original story.

Because sequel is usually innovation. And the only combat innovation only made the game worse. Yes, I am talking about the shock gloves. Yes, the story was good, but it misses a LOT compared to Arkham city. For example the Easter eggs. It took me about 10 extra hours to find them all! and here is a personal something.... Deathstroke... For me, the most awaited thing... I expected Deathstroke to beat the shit out of B-man, and then Batman to return and work against his tactics. Because Deathstroke IS (theoretically) stronger than Batman, and also smarter. But nope, we basically got a very very good quick-time event, which is good for a quick-time event, BUT NOT FOR A FUCKING FIGHT EVERYONE WAS WAITING FOR AFTER SEEING THE TRAILER. So basically, this is my least favorite batman, actually it stood toe to toe with Asylum, Easter eggs being compensated by fighting innovations, but Scarecrow makes Asylum #2 instead of #3. Don't get me wrong though, it was an amazing game, but nothing compared to it's prequel...

Xerrojaz I agree with what you say but.... Batman is almost as strong (and sometimes stronger) than most 'meta-humans'. Although I do believe Deathstroke is stronger in terms of strenght, he's not the better fighter. Batman's the clear winner in terms of skill. As far as intelligence goes, Batman's WAY smarter !! Just because Deathstroke has faster reflexes and enhanced mental attributes doesn't mean he's smarter. In fact, unlike Batman, Deathstroke does NOT have a genius-level intellect.. It has been stated multiple times that Batman is the smartest man in the DCU with the exception of Lex Luthor.. Also, Batman's considered the 'most dangerous man on Earth' for a reason... I'm not saying Deathstroke can't beat Batman. In fact, I think he has an edge when facing this younger/more arrogant Batman we saw in Origins.. Still, I actually liked the boss fight. I think it felt like a 'real' fight. And I don't know how they could have done it any other way.

The actual choreography isn't the issue it tends to be because the CG required for the moves like this would stand out too much in a live action setting. Getting the movement to look realistic and rendering it seamlessly with the environment and real people would be expensive and time consuming

Origins didn't go leaps and bounds above Arkham City's technical design but that didn't make it any less enjoyable to play. If you didn't like it then that's fine. I'm just saying it's a solid game which expands upon the Batman mythos and was allowed to experiment with new features not present in the Rocksteady Arkham games. Features like fast-travel, multiplayer, gadgets, and crime scene reconstructions. A lot of people just focus only on the flaws and do not talk about the features Origins did right. The story was great, the character and level designs were good, best boss battles in the series, and the gameplay was just as fun as Arkham City. Also I felt characters like Bane and Black Mask were the best versions of those characters outside of the comics.
I agree and disagree. Let me start with
Fast-travel: It wasn't a good idea because flying around the city and seeing all the landmarks, maybe some easter eggs etc is part of the game, if you're using the batwing in a pre-rendered cutscene how are you going to see all the hidden goodies?
Story: The story was good, the only thing I didn't like was the Joker...again and the fact that Deathstroke and Deadshot were only in it once, though they advertised them so much that lead me to believe they were in it more than once and that Deadshot wouldn't be a fudging side-mission.
Multiplayer: While the multi is fun, playing as the thugs has drifted way too much away from the core mechanics of the game. If the thugs had their own set of gadgets - like a flash-grenade - could do stealth takedowns and had an equal advantage as Batman & Robin then it would of been so much better, and I hate the whole idea of purchasing weapons off the PSN Store or Xbox LIVE Marketplace, it'll give them an advantage that some other players may not be able to get.
Character design: Yes, character design was almost perfect, Deadshot, Deathstroke, Firefly and Black Mask look amazing, way better then Rocksteady's designs in my opinion. Killer Croc, Alfred, Bane, and Joker I didn't like - Killer Croc looks like an idiot, Bane looks like he's either a wrestler or some weird porn star (His mask) Joker didn't originally have make-up on his face, but in Origins he does and I don't like that.
Boss Battles: Were just plain awesome...
Mass Debate™ As you pointed out the game has its pros and cons. But would you have rather had the cons appear in the sequel rather then a prequel game? You don't have to use fast-travel or multi-player if you do not want to but the option is still available to you, much like Detective mode. Story and character design is entirely in the eye of the beholder. Overall the game is pretty solid.

Maximus-Kanic Well it's my opinion nonetheless and I stand by it. The only boss battle in Arkham City that I enjoyed was Mr. Freeze. Grundy and Clayface felt like standard platforming bosses like in a 'Jak & Daxster' game. Bane was very well done and we got to see why he became the steroid monster in Asylum. If the game didn't meet your high standards fine that's okay, who am I to judge other people's tastes. But I know I am not alone in liking this game either.

I love Arkham Origins so much. It reminds a lot of Batman Returns in atmosphere. The fact that it is set on a snowy Christmas Eve helps make the environment and atmosphere so great. The story, characters and soundtrack are fabulous. and a more open bigger Gotham sells it for me.
Like Arkham Asylum and City, Arkham Origins is outside of the 1990s animated series, the best portrayal of Batman, even besting the comics in many ways. Arkham Origins has everything a Batman fan could want.
It's just a shame how Slade and Black Mask had way less of a role in the game than advertised and how it was way more about Bane and Joker. It really sucks Black Mask wasn't the main villain of the game and it was all about Joker again.
It's such a great game! And it's superior to its predecessors in so many ways: better story, the best goddamn Batman suit ever, the best atmosphere in a Batman game, better controls, great boss fights that actually present some challenge, the city is bigger, I can keep on counting, its really good.

Anyone else disappointed with how Deathstroke turned out in the game? Sure his boss fight was pretty cool and challenging, but he was taken out WAY TO EARLY. I expected him to be around for the whole game- as a recurring boss who shows up when you least expect it and a constant pain in the ass. Instead he gets taken out early and is never seen again. Deathstroke and Bane should have SWAPPED roles in the game.

Eh I agree it would have been nice to have seen more of deathstroke but I feel like switching him with bain wouldn't work. I don't think Deathstroke agree to the contract after it was revealed that Black Mask was actually the Joker. Remember that Joker and Deathstroke aren't fond of eachother, seeing as Deathstroke wasn't let out of his cell during the black gate riot. So yeah I just doubt Deathstroke would work with Joker like Bane did

PsBoy96 that is not his actual story. Read the comic books. He was a part of a medical experiment that was conducted by the army of which he was a part. They chose him because he was good at what he did. Even the missing eye was due to his wife after she learnt that their Son was killed by people who offered Deathstroke a contract to kill the Batman. But after Deathstroke refused, those people killed his son as a lesson. I wouldn't consider Arrow as a reliable source for the origins of Comic Book characters. I like the spin they put on things but it is not the original story.
It was considered a "failure" because instead of making him immune to truth serum, it made him super human.

Because sequel is usually innovation. And the only combat innovation only made the game worse. Yes, I am talking about the shock gloves. Yes, the story was good, but it misses a LOT compared to Arkham city. For example the Easter eggs. It took me about 10 extra hours to find them all! and here is a personal something.... Deathstroke... For me, the most awaited thing... I expected Deathstroke to beat the shit out of B-man, and then Batman to return and work against his tactics. Because Deathstroke IS (theoretically) stronger than Batman, and also smarter. But nope, we basically got a very very good quick-time event, which is good for a quick-time event, BUT NOT FOR A FUCKING FIGHT EVERYONE WAS WAITING FOR AFTER SEEING THE TRAILER. So basically, this is my least favorite batman, actually it stood toe to toe with Asylum, Easter eggs being compensated by fighting innovations, but Scarecrow makes Asylum #2 instead of #3. Don't get me wrong though, it was an amazing game, but nothing compared to it's prequel...

Xerrojaz I agree with what you say but.... Batman is almost as strong (and sometimes stronger) than most 'meta-humans'. Although I do believe Deathstroke is stronger in terms of strenght, he's not the better fighter. Batman's the clear winner in terms of skill.
As far as intelligence goes, Batman's WAY smarter !! Just because Deathstroke has faster reflexes and enhanced mental attributes doesn't mean he's smarter. In fact, unlike Batman, Deathstroke does NOT have a genius-level intellect..
It has been stated multiple times that Batman is the smartest man in the DCU with the exception of Lex Luthor..
Also, Batman's considered the 'most dangerous man on Earth' for a reason... I'm not saying Deathstroke can't beat Batman. In fact, I think he has an edge when facing this younger/more arrogant Batman we saw in Origins..
Still, I actually liked the boss fight. I think it felt like a 'real' fight. And I don't know how they could have done it any other way.
