- As soon as I saw Formbot was releasing a Micron kit I pre-ordered immediately. I've put together some of my notes and impressions on the kit as well as the build experience. Order your own Formbot Micron + Kit: www.formbot3d.com/products/pr...

Yes I love the colour! As a graphic designer I love the aesthetic, Well done!
We need more funky coloured printers!
The aesthetic of this is well executed and making me rethink the color scheme on my big corexy.
Build looks great. Great job. Welcome to the Micron Family ;)
Links to all mods and stls mentioned in the video can be found on my companion website www.robrobsworkshop.com/articles/formbot-micron-180-kit
excellent video! my kit arrived a couple days ago im super excited to put it together
You're gonna have a blast, it's a super fun build and the discord community is super helpful if you run into hiccups.
Awesome video!
Phenomenal video Rob. Subbed. Happy to see you doing this. :)
Awesome build. I want to build one so bad.
Those colors really pop! I have a 2.4 in upgrade mode, a trident to build but maybe I should add this to sit beside the 0.2 (formbot).
I have the dragonburner on my V0 and love it. Thinking of making a custom sized micron so really happy to see this video
Thanks! and yeah, I think I'm gonna replace the stealth burner on my Trident with a Dragon Burner (and tap) next time I swap hotends.
I only built a Voron 0 so far and have ordered the Micron+ kit from Formbot. Your video was very useful. I was wondering if I should print the R1 parts and now I know I should, looks awesome. Also very good job on the build, very clean and great choice of mods! Might be a little flashy for my taste, but it's your Voron! :)
I blew up my BTT OCTOPUS bored when I installed tap. Apparently they’re supposed to be a diode. A video of you adding tap to your Vons would be much appreciated. Especially showing the diode or it might even be a resistor. I can’t find the article anymore. Thanks I enjoyed the video.
which filament colors are those? Those are my all time faves
Your video singlehandedly made me order a kit.
Awesome! Have fun dude, it's such a cool build.
Hey Rob. Didn't know you had a YT! Great Vid!
Thanks man! Hasn’t had a lot of action lately- between Covid and having a baby was kinda distracted lol- but excited to get back in the game, especially for a project that was so cool.
The beefy front idlers are a great mod to see, ill have to check them out, mine keep deforming over time
@robrobsworkshop which mount did you use for the 4.3 screen? it is not link in you blog post.
I love that small part holder from Modbot! What pink is that?
The pink on the modbot holder? it's Hot Pink ABS from Gizmo Dorks. The Pink on the Micron is Polymaker Neon Magenta ABS :)
What rail do you use for your boop ?
I received a 9C railblock, seems like the boop only fit 9H block ?
I believe according to Hartke they swapped them all out to 9H just before shipping, even though the BOM still said C- you may want to double check to confirm, and if it really is a 9C reach out to format and see if they will send you the correct one.
Hi, would you recommend formbot v02 or micron+ as the first voron printer? I have built a prusa before and have experience both with building and tuning printers and don't mind looking at CAD or asking in discord, but I'd like to get a complete kit so that I don't have to wait for weeks/months for parts from china to finish the build.
I like the bigger build volume of the micron+, the higher power bed and additional upgrades (canbus, accelerometer, bed level sensor, touch screen). Also it seems to be a more interesting build and cheaper considering all that's included.
For the v02, I like that the bed is DC (don't like messing around with AC too much), higher user base (way more information, mods, help...) and smaller size (it's cute), but I'd probably do the tri-zero upgrade (and maybe some others) to get a more stable bed, at which point, it would cost close to the micron (and that's still with a smaller size build volume, slower heating bed and without other upgrades).
Honestly? I'd recommend a 2.4 or a Trident. The larger extrusions and extra room are easier to work with and both are well documented. Between the o2 and micron, I'd go micron, but be warned- its not as mature- stills were being uploaded while I was building mine, and the documentation is incomplete (ie: hard mode)
Hi , what is the fan you for hotend cooling , the fan in the middle .
I have the LDO partial kit from Fabreeko. My Micron is my favorite printerby far. I use it all the time. It's printing right now. If this kit was out a year ago - I would've been all over it like white on rice. I really had to scrape to build my LDO Micron. Probably got near double the $$ into it over this kit. Formbot has a great reputation. When I was purchasing - the only other kits were blurolls and Funsorr. Those two companies don't have a stellar reputation and I think at least one of them was only a 120mm Micron. I don't see any point in a Micron 120mm. 180mm is perfect for most print jobs. I'm actually considering selling my V0.2R1. It just sits there.
Steve Builds has an awesome youtube build series on the LDO partial Micron 180 kit which would still apply to a lot of this kit if anyone hasn't seen it. Also - Fabreeko has a Micron 180 channel on their discord with tons of information and several awesome people that are more than willing to help anyone with Micron Questions. Aron, Delmar and Apple Pi come to mind. I think maybe Poittee also.
I had that fabreeko / LDO kit in my cart for months, but I could not pull the trigger. While I agree 180 is damn near perfect, I just couldn't spend $$$$. But half that? Absolutely! and yeah, I also have a 120 V0, a 300 Trident and a 350 2.4 and this 180 micron is my absolute fave now!
Where there anything extra you had to buy for the formbot kit to get it running besides the printed parts?
Hiya, do u have link to boop tap please? Is it designed for dragon head specifically? Thanks
Grrr, need to finish my Mercury 1 first . But I really want to build a little sibling to my 350 2.4
I subscribed in hopes of more micron plus videos
I'll get on more soon!
Are belt positions same as at normal Voron 2.4 ?
yeah, motion system is the same. just scaled down to 1515 extrusions
@@robrobsworkshop nice, ill order it then, time to print parts :D
You are aware that ABS deteriorates in UV Light. If you want to keep your UV lights, you should Print the Parts in ASA.
Yeah, I would be more concerned if I were running my big UV flood light, but I just pull that out temporarily for photo purposes; the matchsticks aren't very strong, but this is something I'll keep an eye on, and if it becomes an issue, make the necessary adjustments.
ABS does have Some UV protection, It will yellow over time, but by the time it gets to that we will all be on to our next color choices for modding. I know I have changed my colors at least three times in the last two years. and original colors, blue and red still look great.
I thought ABS and ASA offer uv protection?
Great Vid. Can you link the formbot discord?

what colors are those? @robrobsworkshop specifically the orange?
