Excellent video! I wish I saw it before I set mine up! I did pretty much the same thing with my setup, 7 synths and 1 effect return. The force is great for playing my synths, but I can't figure out how I can listen to my recordings in the arranger after I finish recording them in. The problem I have is it's recording the midi from my clips into the arrangement as well as recording the audio from my synths, so when I play the arrangement it doubles up the sound. Have you found a way around that problem? Also do you know if the force uses disk streaming to SSD when recording Audio into the arranger? I can only get about 500 seconds before the Force runs out of memory.
Can the 32 audio input channels over USB be mixed down to 2 tracks using the Force's internal digital mixer? I'm looking at this Eurorack interface called Expert Sleepers ES-9 along with the Akai Force. I think theES-9 has 14 audio inputs to class-compliant USB. Should I get a Eurorack mixer or could I just use the Force's mixer? Thanks!
This isn’t possible. Even though Force can “see” and use 32 inputs, it is limited to the 8 stereo channels in its mixer. This means Force can mix a maximum of 16 inputs with 8 stereo channels into a “2-track”.
@@Ed_MilesSo there is no way to hear 32 inputs through the Force at once or even 2 without compromising the 8 stereo internal tracks. Looks like I will need a mixer in Eurorack format if I go that route. Thanks though.
@@jmfhsmith4923 - yeah, you’ll probably need a mixer. You can play back 8 audio tracks while monitoring the (16 mono/8 stereo) inputs if you use “Merge”. It’s not 32, but it might hold you over until you get the mixer you want
Depends. I try to use the same type for a single device - I wouldn't want to mix TRS&TS connections on the same balanced device. I prefer TRS, but a cable is a cable as long as it works. Everything in this video is TS, unbalanced, except mic to mixer / mixer to camera
Thank you but I still can't get it to work.. is the Output 1,2 the Force's main output on the back? I have the Tascam mixer hooked into force via USB, set to Multi-track 44Khz/24 bit and I can see the 32 inputs via Force. I can see the signal is coming into force as the signal indicator is bouncing, but when I try monitoring the audio tracks no sound comes out of Force (including nothing in headphones). I have my monitors directly connected to Force's outputs. Any ideas?
Is it possible to send the tracks from the force, through mixer, into a daw? So like the the interface would be connected to both the akai and the Daw simultaneously?
It is possible if you have the right interface. You’re basically trying to connect two computer systems and have them use the same interface simultaneously. If the interface supports this and is class compliant, it may work. I have done so with iConnectivity iConnectAUDIO2+, a Mac Mini / iPad. Motu AVB interfaces may work, but I haven’t used them and can’t vouch for them.
I checked the 32 i/o box but it still wont allow me more than 8 audio tracks. Is it only possible to have 8 or can i have one for each input on my interface?
Exactly what I was looking to find. Subscribed.

Hi Ed! What kind of cables do you use for individual outputs, balanced or simple mono?

My use case is: I want to use Tascam for inputing all of my instruments into Force and use Force to record/monitor/mix/etc.
aah I figured it out.. it all goes back to the mixer
Hi, Which audio interface are you using?
My Force greys out audio device (internal) in swttings, yet my Tascam is connected...

wow clever work around
Thanks

8 is the limit. Only Akai can change that.
Wish u could’ve got a better camera angle. It was a struggle looking at that small screen at the bottom. Good vid overall
Thanks for the feedback.
