Make sure you have an SD card or usb drive handy as the built in storage is only for system stuff, not saving projects etc. This sometimes catches people out on their first day as it’s not stated clearly anywhere by Akai. Have fun!
Dear Maxipok! Thank you for the first lesson, which took a little longer for me because I repeated various steps. I would like to thank you very much and look forward to the next unit with you and the journey with the Force ;-) Best greetings from Vienna 👋🏼
Thank you for making this video. By far is one the best videos on learning the basics of the Akai Force. everything lay out in order. I am still learning the Force because the amount of menus is deep. Thank you
I’ve been trying to find out how to delete tracks for hours now, Google didn’t have an answer, 3 minutes in you solved my problem and now I also know there are hidden menus and shortcuts. Love my Force, happy I decided to go for it instead of an MPC but I hope they’ll make a Mk2 with the labeling sorted out (and hopefully a tilting screen).
Glad the video was helpful! Yep, I’m the same. Will never understand why Akai didn’t give Force the same screen as the MPC X, would make such a difference!
Thankyou, massive help, you have also covered the little things that others miss out like how to actually edit/move notes in the clip editor, im sure I would of worked it out but I'm from a mind set of Dont push / touch buttons unless you know what they do, Again thankyou!
I’m late to the party yet this info is timeless!!! Thankyou so much for taking the time and energy to share this info with us true inspiring and a lifesaver 😂💪🏾🔥♦️
Exactly what I needed. Just bought the Force, poked around one of the demo tracks and had no idea wtf was going on. (I did actually find the pull down menu on my own).
I come back to this video periodically to get a refresher on using the Force. This is the best tutorial on TH-cam! Once you put down the Force for a while it's hard to remember all it's quirks. Akai has made it a very powerful tool with all the recent updates. I'm not a big complainer about challenging gear but I find the biggest hurdles with a lot of gear these days be it Roland, Korg, Akai whomever are the "dual function" buttons. Press "shift" to do this and access that hidden feature. I don't know why manufacturers are afraid to add in more buttons that you can press to take you directly to a feature. The Force would be a lot smoother if they put in more direct access buttons. It's got more features than dedicated buttons. The idea of engineering things to make them both compact and meticulous is not really helpful for musicians. It's not that bad if you're using the same piece of gear daily you learn it by heart but you get 4 of 5 pieces of gear with secondary functions you forget and get confused sometimes when you jump around using them. That's my only complaint about the Force.
I’m really glad this is proving helpful to you! Yep I agree, the button combinations do make Force more difficult to learn. I like the way Elektron boxes are laid out, more or less knob per function, that would be cool if there is ever a Force MK2 🙂
I agree with your feedback, I typically buy gear that has knob per function for the very reason you highlight, it gets difficult to remember what the secondary functions are if you step away from it for a bit. And ofc we have plenty of gear so have to remember it all and be creative at the same time!
Great stuff. I know MPC inside out so not expecting too much headache when my Force arrives but this awesome vid does clear up a few questions with regards to functionality and the Force seems to be everything i`ve been looking for and lacking in the MPC platform.
Great video...easy to follow. I've just bought the Force...it's pretty overwhelming at first...but thanks to your video and others .... I am slowly getting there... Thanks again....you are doing a great job...!!! ONE LOVE one mother earth.. 🌍
Cannot explain how wicked this video is, had my force for 2 years, I love it.. just find myself getting dragged back to the desktop... I really want to use it for live performances
Great video! Just got my force and love it! Came from an MPC, so already know some of the semi advanced features stuff, but was lost on the basic navigation items that are totally different than MPC 🤣 thanks for such an in depth tutorial!
Wow. This is such a good video because it is so logically laid out and explained in detail. I would totally buy a course or support a Patreon to watch videos of how you use and construct songs using the Akai Force.
Thanks, I’m glad you found it useful! I’m actually working on some more structured ‘build a track’ tutorials so watch this space. I’ll post them here and you’ll have the option to download the project files to work along with the video via my Patreon 🙂
@@MaxipokMusic This is a nice offering! TH-cam for everyone in public, and who wants to go deeper has the option to support you, while the others don't miss crucial things. You are the hero of the Force :D
Thank you very much for creating this tutorial! Looking forward to the advanced concepts/techniques video if that’s something you’re tackling down the road.
Thanks, I’m glad you found it useful. Planning some more videos at the moment actually, are there any subjects you’d like to see specifically? Cheers! 🙂
This video is by far the most clear and nice to watch presentation about the Akai Force that I found on youtube (and I saw a lot :)). Thanks for your work!!! I will discover the Force more in details with your other videos but for now I'll keep watching this one few times to really manage the device and learn the workflow. Really, thanks a lot! Oh and by the way, the same kind of project about the MPC live 2 would be amazing ;) There is a lot more of MPC videos available on youtube than Force ones but it is never as clear as this one is... So who know?... If you could do a MPC live 2 version I think you would make a lot of people happy :)
Thank you Sir, a great tutorial video and very informative. Saved me a heap of time wading through the full Force manual. Just one small point, not everyone may be happy or confident enough to install a SATA disk drive internally so I have found that it's important to use a USB 3 thumb drive or fast SD card if using either of these options especially with disk streaming turned on. Initially I made the mistake of using a USB 2 thumb drive for storage. My projects saved OK but I experienced some problems on playback. USB 2 thumb drives don't seem to be able to read some project data quick enough even if plugged into the Force's USB 3 slots. This may be obvious to some people but I just thought I'd point this out. Once again, thank you🙂
Great tutorial ! Thks for that as it’s even better than official Akai tutos. Although i’m not totally new to the Force, i learned few tips that will make my process faster. Looking forward next modules. 👍 !
Thanks, I’m glad it was useful! There are a few more advanced subjects covered in the Tutorials playlist, so hopefully you’ll find something of interest in there. Thanks for watching 🙂
Fantastic Only had time to the first 10 mins of this video so far and that alone is so informative Just what someone like me with not a lot of time to play about needs to know to get going I can take this out of the box now knowing I can make something other than noise by using it as an instrument only Akai themselves have not explained this better 👍
Hey! That's amazing feedback, thank you very much. I'm really happy you are finding the video helpful, I hope you have a lot of fun making music on the Force going forward. Thanks again for leaving such great feedback :)
@@MaxipokMusic for me your feedback is well deserved and mark of the clarity you use while explaining your tutorial video Thank you for the valuable information you supply I personally haven’t seen any others better for beginners Akai do okay but your videos beat them in my opinion (ask em for a tip 😂) I’m sure many others out there in my position will agree
@@FRANCCO32 Thank you so much! Akai did get in touch with me a couple of months ago but so far nothing has come of it. Fingers crossed something might happen in the future 🤞🙂
Thanks Jeffry, I’m really glad it was useful! I had the MPC Live for a while, really enjoyed it, but I find the Force’s clips and scenes workflow much better for making full tracks rather than just loops. I think it’s easier to perform on too, haven’t looked back since I got it!
This is an amazing and well done tutorial. I've had my Force for 2 years I think. I kept putting off using it because it seemed rather complicated (That and I also brought a Korg Kronos and you need a PHd to understand that thing) I had the One and the MPC-X those weren't so bad but the Force is a whole nother monster to tame. I thank you for making this tutorial. I had a hard time understanding the manual.
This is really nice feedback, thank you! I’m glad you found it helpful and I hope you enjoy exploring the Force further. Funnily, I think coming to it from the MPC makes things more confusing, the workflow is so different but the UI looks similar, so it’s a bit disorienting. Ableton to Force is a much smoother transition! Thanks for watching 🙂
@@MaxipokMusic Yes the force I think is great for people already used to DAW's and the many midi interfaces they work with. To me it's a very strange creature as I don't use any of those things. What I find myself with are A LOT of options with the Force. Like the sequencer and all it's options for one. It has so many features that it's very overwhelming to the unfamiliar. I appreciate the people that take time to make these tutorials. I don't know if it's a trend or what but these manufacturers make these complex products and then post up like 2 minute long how to tutorials on things that would take a half hour to truly go over. Akai did have a Force Specialist at one point who had a channel on here that showed tips and tricks and he also did Q&A's live streams but they booted him for some reason and never really replaced him.
@@187onasimp Yep I know what you mean, the learning curve is steep. I think the brands rely a lot on the community to create learning resources now, which is fine most of the time, but with Force it wasn’t that popular at first so there are less videos for it that MPC or something like Maschine. Worth sticking with though, it’s a lot of fun when you get your head around it!
This is possibly the best Force tutorial for beginners I have seen--and I've had Force since it first came out, so have watched quite a few in recent years. I'm still learning new tricks and tips and your video was a great refresher, even for someone familiar with this awesome machine. BTW, wonder if Akai will do any more updates beyond the very good 3.1?
Thanks Shane, that’s really nice feedback to hear, I appreciate it and I’m glad you found the video useful! I’m not in any of the firmware beta testing groups so don’t know if there is anything coming, but I reckon there will be, even if it’s just a few more plug-in instruments. I’d like to see some mastering-specific effects added too, even just a LUFS meter would be helpful!
Very good and clear tutorial. I have a force coming tomorrow and so glad I came across this. Gonna start playing with trance packs and hopefully a microphone 🎤 for silly noise samples....THE WIFE..Subscribed to your channel as I will definitely will get stuck 🙂 Keep up the great work

@@uwerosenthal5520 To be honest I don’t use the Akai expansions so I haven’t done it myself, but I just watched this and it seems to answer the question. Thank you for the first lesson, which took a little longer for me because I repeated various steps. I would like to thank you very much and look forward to the next unit with you and the journey with the Force ;-) Best greetings from Vienna 👋🏼
Thanks for your video ! i am french and now i understand the workflow !!
Thank you very much for making this tutorial series. Appreciate it a lot.
Thank you for making this video. By far is one the best videos on learning the basics of the Akai Force. everything lay out in order. I am still learning the Force because the amount of menus is deep. Thank you
No problem Koji, I’m really glad you found it helpful! Thanks for watching and I hope you have a lot of fun making music with the Force 🙂
Fantastic. I was about to give up and sell the machine cause I never got started! Many thanks! 👍🙏
Excellent work non patronising and super clear thanks
Great tutorial! This is my 2nd time trying the Force, wish i would have run across your tutorial the 1st time ...better late than never!
Thanks, I'm glad you found it helpful! Have fun re-exploring the Force :)
Will never understand why Akai didn’t give Force the same screen as the MPC X, would make such a difference!
this is the teacher!!! how I thank you for this work to see till I die
You are welcome, I’m glad it was useful! 🙂
This is a fantastic video. Great starter. Please make more !
Thanks Samuel, I’m glad it was helpful! There are quite a few more videos in my Force Tutorials playlist 🙂🙏
Thankyou, massive help, you have also covered the little things that others miss out like how to actually edit/move notes in the clip editor, im sure I would of worked it out but I'm from a mind set of Dont push / touch buttons unless you know what they do, Again thankyou!
Great video demonstration very helpful. Thank you sooooo much ! More power and God bless.
I’m late to the party yet this info is timeless!!! Thankyou so much for taking the time and energy to share this info with us true inspiring and a lifesaver 😂💪🏾🔥♦️
Hi! No problem, I’m happy it was useful. Have fun exploring the Force and thanks for watching!
Exactly what I needed. Just bought the Force, poked around one of the demo tracks and had no idea wtf was going on. (I did actually find the pull down menu on my own).
Brilliant, thanks so much for this tutorial. This has given me the confidence to invest in an Akai Force.
No problem, and I’m glad you found it useful! It’s a fantastic machine, I hope you enjoy exploring it 🙂
I come back to this video periodically to get a refresher on using the Force.
Merci beaucoup pour toutes ces vidéos qui sont très bien expliquées et très instructives. Merci d’avoir pris le temps c’est très utile
No problem, I’m happy it was helpful. Enjoy making music on your Force! 🙂
Thanks!
This video is phenomenal for new force users. 👏
Thanks Sam, I’m glad you found it useful! 🙂
Thanks. I receive my Force tomorrow. This will help a lot!
Thanks
Great video of the highest quality. Now I’m ready… and also ready for advanced part 2 😎
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it! There are more videos in the pipeline so stay tuned 🙂
Cannot explain how wicked this video is, had my force for 2 years, I love it.. just find myself getting dragged back to the desktop... I really want to use it for live performances
Thanks, I’m glad it was helpful! 🙂
Incredible tutorial! Made me want a force so I could follow along.
Tkank you ! Best Tutorial ever. Great Guy great Channel..subscribed😁👍
Thank you, that’s really nice feedback to see! Glad you found the video useful, and thanks for the sub 🙂🙏
ABSOLUTEly fantastic work & a favor to all the knuckle heads, like me. Thank you for creating & sharing. Keep on rockin’. 🎛🎚🎧👑🔊🎵💥
Thank you! I’m really glad you found it useful. Thanks for watching and happy new year! 🎧🙂
Great video! Just got my force and love it! Came from an MPC, so already know some of the semi advanced features stuff, but was lost on the basic navigation items that are totally different than MPC 🤣 thanks for such an in depth tutorial!
No problem, I’m glad it was helpful. Enjoy your new Force and welcome to the family!
Cheers! 🙂
Just bought one and can’t wait to JAM! Very helpful guide 👍👍
Have fun, and thanks for watching!
Oh and by the way, the same kind of project about the MPC live 2 would be amazing ;)
There is a lot more of MPC videos available on youtube than Force ones but it is never as clear as this one is... So who know?... If you could do a MPC live 2 version I think you would make a lot of people happy :)
Thanks, I’m glad the video helped you get started! I don’t have an MPC at the moment, but if I get one at some point I’ll make the video 🙂
Really enjoying this - I dived straight in and this is so useful taking things back to basics.
Glad you are finding it helpful, thanks for watching!
Once again, thank you🙂
Awesome lesson. I will now buy one😂😂 Keep then coming.
Quality video. Thanks, really useful!
Not got one and probably never will have one but it's good to know I can learn the work flow
Akai should be paying you as I’ll bet lots of peeps have bought a force after watching your vids 🤩
Thanks so much for your hard work on this video my friend, it was very helpful!
No problem Alex, I’m really glad it was useful! 🙂
Fantastic
Only had time to the first 10 mins of this video so far and that alone is so informative
Just what someone like me with not a lot of time to play about needs to know to get going
I can take this out of the box now knowing I can make something other than noise by using it as an instrument only
Akai themselves have not explained this better 👍
Hey! That's amazing feedback, thank you very much. I'm really happy you are finding the video helpful, I hope you have a lot of fun making music on the Force going forward. Thanks again for leaving such great feedback :)
@@MaxipokMusic for me your feedback is well deserved
and mark of the clarity you use while explaining your tutorial video
Thank you for the valuable information you supply
I personally haven’t seen any others better for beginners
Akai do okay but your videos beat them in my opinion (ask em for a tip 😂)
I’m sure many others out there in my position will agree
@@FRANCCO32 Thank you so much! Akai did get in touch with me a couple of months ago but so far nothing has come of it. Fingers crossed something might happen in the future 🤞🙂
Perfect timing. This was really helpful in figuring out my new Force 🙌
Excellent, I’m glad it was useful! Have fun with your new toy 🙂
Thanks for making this Great Video Tutorial.
The best intro video ever .....
This was fantastic - really made getting started super clear and easy!
Excellent, I’m really glad it helped you get going! Have fun exploring Force, and thanks for watching! 🙂
Bravo très bien expliqué magnifique travail. Merci beaucoup. Muito obrigado
Thank you so much for this video 🙏 my first question : how we can have some expansion in our machine ? (12:16 of your video) ! Thanks 😊
I wish I could give this 3.1 thumbs up. So good that it's the latest Force update! I have an MPC but now I'm getting talked into the Force instead.
Thanks Jeffry, I’m really glad it was useful! I had the MPC Live for a while, really enjoyed it, but I find the Force’s clips and scenes workflow much better for making full tracks rather than just loops. I think it’s easier to perform on too, haven’t looked back since I got it!
Really really thank you so much for this video. Much needed. Well explained.
No problem, I’m glad it was helpful! 🙂
Amazing tutorial dude! Thank you 👍
No problem, glad it was helpful!
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you
that`s really very useful. thank you for this tutorial! now i know what to do with my new toy)
Aaaaand saved! Now off to sell a bunch of other gear to buy this. Thanks!
Gonna start playing with trance packs and hopefully a microphone 🎤 for silly noise samples....THE WIFE..Subscribed to your channel as I will definitely will get stuck 🙂 Keep up the great work
Thanks for the sub, have fun when your Force arrives!
Life saver ! Thanks very much
Great tutorial ! Thanks a lot
One of the best Force Tutorials I have ever seen on You Tube! Thank you for that! For a Beginner like me, this is awesome. One Question: could you show how to load Expansions into the Force?
Thanks for all. Great Work!
Thank you, I’m glad you found it useful! Do you mean a video showing how to install expansions on the Force, or how to load them once they are on there?
@@MaxipokMusic Thank You. Yes, I mean how to Install so I can find
The Expansions under the right Tap.
@@uwerosenthal5520 To be honest I don’t use the Akai expansions so I haven’t done it myself, but I just watched this and it seems to answer the question. It involves using the free MPC Beats software, I’m not sure if there is a way to do it without that. Sorry I can’t be more helpful on this one!
