Very informative! What's the cost gonna be on that camshaft? Would that be due to lack of maintenance?

      Thanks for the feedback Kat
I'll have to update on the cause in this case. It could be due to extended oil change intervals. When those pumps are under load, the working forces can be quite high. It's a 13hr job to replace the camshaft, I'll be replacing the pump as well, just in case there is an issue with it seizing that caused the camshaft to wear out.

@@happygarage6310 13 hrs, that doesn't sound like a job I'd enjoy lol! I think that in the quest for lessened environmental impact and making new vehicles look less like servicing moneypits, OEMs are overstretched oil change intervals. 16000km interval for my Patriot! That's WAAAAY too long. It barely takes 5 quarts! I went 10000km (so, say, 6000 miles) and now it uses oil. Great, lol.

@ShopKatIndustries I run 5k mile max on my cars. The camaro used 1qt in 1500 miles when I got it 2 years ago. It's now pretty consistent with 1qt every 2k. The Honda that is supposed to use oil hasn't been in 170k miles, but I suspect that's going to change soon. Yeah 5-6k oil synthetic oil changes on a N/A engine, 3.5k miles for a turbo engine is about the sweet spot as I've experienced.
