READ ME!!!
I wasn't sure exactly what was limited to Free/Studio so didn't include within the video however, check the TH-cam Chapters! Anything Studio only has the Studio tag within it (if they're not there yet... give me a few ha I'm catching up!) Hopefully that clears it up.
Next, here's more good stuff I missed/skipped/accidentally cut out the edit because I was in a rush to get on a plane to NAB 😄
- Magic Masks in Fusion have got a big speed boost (yay!)
- New Multi Poly tool in Fusion - Awesome little tool for creating custom shapes with one node (its on favourites toolbar!)
- Fusion Viewer is now Color Managed too (swear I recorded that bit but can't find it ha!)
- New Layout options in Fusion - Super useful for ultrawide monitors
- Referenced Fusion clips!
- New Audio Options in Inspector - Under the View heading - Scroll down abit
- Replace Live Production - Totally missed this TBH
- Advanced Volumetric Rendering in Fusion - Missed this too! I'll have a play with it
I'll make mooooore videos on loads of these cool new features as we go!
Oh and you can watch the full livestream from Blackmagic themselves here:
th-cam.com/users/liveiI7ZEm-ZbPw?si=LbykURt1QMa970W8
Totally agree on dat one!, only took me 2 months, then i bought it with included speed editor 😎💵💵
You know I do not know if the Ducker is Free or Studio ha! Anyone tried it yet?!
@@RepairGuyDK same🙃
Looking forward to playing around with DR19.
switching to DaVinci was the best designer move i've ever made. seriously
@stephantual You sacrifice crashes for performance, DaVinci can run really poorly depending on what you're doing, even with a beefy computer like mine, but I guess it does have lots of features to negate that
Designer?
@@jrodd13it really is heavy. Gotta turn off color nodes to playback the video. It's understood tho..
I wonder if Premiere is like 90% CPU dependent, then how much GPU+CPU dependent is Davinci, as I understand it relies more on GPU
@@eladbari ya i design templates for sale
@@jrodd13 do you use studio? It feels way faster than free.
Just buy Davinci to anyone using free version...such a smart purchase.
Am a n00b to video editing, but as soon as I saw what you can do with AI in Studio I bought it. The fact you get all the updates for life makes it a lot easier to justify the cost.
Yep. I gave them my money years ago. It’s a smart investment and the sooner you get in the game, the better. Cheaper if you buy it now I’m guessing. Also, when you pay early you send BM a message that you’re a committed customer and with that additional earmarked funding they can focus more heavily on improving the software.
TH-cam comment section gets so pressed when they don't tiptoe around every feature and specify if it can or cant be done in free version.
Still saving up and finding the reason I need the studio version.... Maybe some day
Buy it with the mini editor and they throw it in. Both for about $100 more.
The ambience in the isolator is the room sound/reverb, so you can bring it down and bring the voice closer to the mic. I love this!
I figured as much! My examples were too heavy handed haha! Thanks :)
Wait it can remove echo? OMG that would be a God send to me!
@@MrAlexTech Did they fix the slow motion sound, in Premier you can stretch the audio with the rate stretch and it sounds great slowed down, in Davinci when you slow down a sound effect it sounds really bad and tiny, like laryngitis, I hope they can fix it.
I live near an 8 lane freeway that recently opened. They erected a noise abatement wall, nevertheless the background noise is off the charts in my neighborhood. The background noise isolator function is reason enough for me to get the DR19.
THE MUSIC REMIXER IS MIND BLOWING!!!! we can now make any tune karaoke version real quick ahaha
or fix bad camera audio
they recently released such a feature in fl studio (daw), general ai development apparently opened up the road to easy instrument/voice isolation
I haven't played with it yet, but I can't wait to see how wild it is.
When I saw remixer I was hoping to extend the length of music tracks automatically like I could in Premiere. Still doing this manually sucks.
@@shornhector7402me too remixer tool in premiere is so powerful. i hope oneday davinci will import this feature
Looks like the difference between Background and Ambience in the Voice Separator is: Background is things like noise/AC units/crowds/etc. while Ambience is things like reverb or echo from the location. At least, that's how it seems from BM's breakdown
Alex for general
Darren for color
Casey for fusion
Also RIP dehancer
The Holy Trinity of Resolve!
....and Team 2 Films for audio
Can't forget Jason Yadlovski with the audio goodness
You forgot Lazy Artist! The best short and quick Fusion tips and tricks!
Patrick Sterling?
My mind is absolutely blown over the transcription update! Been 4 months into a massive docu series and while it was great before, literally was the recommendation that I needed! Feel like I just got hours back to my life! 😅
they put Dehancer AND Neat Video into Resolve, two of the most popular plugins, AND the popular beauty features from CapCut AND Audio shit we lost when switching from Premiere. Finally Resolve is going from King to Emperor.
Na - Neat Video is still the king for Denoising.
@@robertniessner554 It is, but the DaVinci version is insanely good and much faster. For almost anything it's good enough for me.
@@PepesTowingService Good enough is the enemy of the best ;-)
@@robertniessner554 a lot of people don't find neat video the best
Love how @3:51 Casey’s name was spelled lower case, lower casey. The humor isn’t lost on me 😊
Purchasing Davinci Resolve was one of the best decisions I've ever made. This is mind blowing. I am so excited to mess around with all the new features!
Public service announcement - I have no affiliation with Audiio but I have genuinely preferred their music over competitors like Motion Array. It sounds more like composed music by film composers.
Audio ducking... ducking amazing!
I actually LOLed at "Da Vinci Resolve's... um... brain... the little man... the little wizard..."
There were way too many good ones to shout out just one... but yeah, love most of these.
Everytime I open resolve, there is an update 😂
Is that a good thing or a bad thing?! ha
Leave it open for a few weeks, give us a breather 😂
DaVinci Resolve 19! What a time to be alive.
Thank you for your time
the search in the effects is sooo nice
let's just wait for the un-bugged version :D
As always thanks so much for the rundown. Very much appreciated.
Thanks a million for putting this out so fast, Alex! Loved it. I was going to wait until the buggy period is over- nah, I‘m off to install right now. Just about to edit loads and big for me stuff (for my music channel). So much cool and helpful new/upgrades.
Im just mindblown how DaVinci keeps improving so much! Can wait to see them this weekend Vegas for NAB
thanks for the update! can't wait to download it and try it.. I'm super pumped for the new audio features.. I'm not big with audio myself, but if it can be enhanced that easily.. mmhh YEAH bring it!
Also looking forward to try the looks and all, see if for small jobs I can just go through this instead of going through the whole grading in the color page.. amazing stuff from Black magic!
Great job on this! Thanks, blessings..
Thank you for summarizing the updates. Super excited for this one
Best video for this update! Thank you!
Thank you very much always! Without your channel I couldn't know anything about Davinci Resolve, specially these new updates. For the film look alone, I think I will go get this beta downloaded! Looking forward to the follow up video about it
Excellent. Thank you so much for this!
Damn I am very excited for this. Thanks for the quick turnaround on this video, much appreciated!
Moving from Premier to Resolve 3 years back was the wisest decision I have ever made 🙂
Wow! Nearly every feature you mentioned is very useful. Solves a lot of current issues and fills in a lot of gaps. I can't wait to ise most of this.
This is so much more stuff than I expected.
mega cheers for the long video! Thank you Alex
Can't wait for the finished version. Thanks for another great video.
Thanks Alex, much appreciate you sharing these new features :)
This update is WOW so many new things. Fantastic 🎉Thanks for the info😊 👍👍👍
Alex, you and your tutorials have made the difference for me in editing. I'm a novice at it but you have helped me so, so much. Thank you for this. I'll make sure and download the 19 studio soon. We depend on you!
Thanks for the update. Mr. AlexTech
nice features, thanks for the update :)
Really looking forward to this! I'm especially interested in the audio ducking.
Wow! Thanks for all of this great info! Can’t wait until they release the stable version!
Thanks. Can't wait for the Film Look video !
There's no doubt you're having a great time with 19 and you always inspire me; thanks Alex. Beyond that here's a BIG thanks for all the work, this was a helluva lot of it. Great stuff!
Thanks for this, it looks like I might have to get the new version when it comes out. Especially as I am editing Podcast footage and it looks like it's got what other podcast specific editors now have, which I'm looking forward to using!
WWOOOAAAA! That's a big update! The Audio Remixer will be very welcoming. Will also be looking forward to a better auto subtitle support. Would be awesome if we could animate the subtitles or convert them to Text+
Yeaaaah we're still waiting on that unfortunately!
You can convert them into text+ with Orson Lord’s “Snap Captions” plugin!
@@sheybr Yes, I'm aware of that 😄. I've been using that also. But it would be good if they could implement it natively.
Really love this, good stuff!
Looking forward to your Film Look Creator video!
Davinci just got even better!! Great flash explanation
Thanks, Mr Alex great video
Awesome update!! A lot things added I have been waiting for!!! I’ll be trying the beta out for sure!!
Thanks bud. Great explanation
Really happy with how resolve starts adding audio features that bring it closer to DAW-quality. Hope, they keep at it, so I can stay inside resolve when editing audio.
OMG The transcription feature is what I was hoping for. Thank you for providing us with info, Alex!
Yeah, me too. This is going to save countless hours of work!
Thanks my friend!
I was worried about how i'm going to learn about all the new changes and then your video pops up. Can always rely on you for everything relating Resolve! Tysm!
Hi Alex, whilst I haven’t used this feature in Resolve, in my line of work (audio forensics), the difference between “background” and “ambience” tends to imply dynamic v static sounds. For example, the constant drone of a dishwasher in the background that lasts most or all of the shot would be a “static” sound (or “ambience”), the sound of the dishwasher being slammed shut would be a “dynamic” sound (or possibly what DaVinci mean by “background” in this application). Not sure if that helps or not but thanks for the video!
Thanks for this explanation
I enjoyed the new functions ... and I super enjoyed your excitement.
Looots of amazing stuff, thank you for the summary! 🔥 I do hope they will add more options for editing subtitles very soon
So many videos on DR19 but no one explained all of it like you did. Thank you 😊🙏
Hi Alex. Thanks for your new video. It's great. I'm also so excited from Davinci Resolve as you. Greetings from Czech Republic.
Thanks Alex for the nice guided tour to V19 - entertaining and informative as usual. 👏🎉
I'm looking forward to using some of the new features but will wait for the official release. And hope that Magic Mask then will really work on my system.
As usual ... great video! Thank you so much!
Amazing stuff, i'm excited for the music remixer!
I really hope the multi poly tool brings us one step closer to better SVG management in Fusion.
Thank you 🙏
thanKs Alex
Loved this long video. Super informational!!!
Amazing video as always 🙌🏼
Amazing video Alex! Really helpfull! Looking forward to trying all the new tools 🤩
Another audio feature that I saw on the forum is VST sidechaining. There are so many great VST options for multiband ducking, which are far superior to what Resolve has. However, I've had loads of problems (bugs and crashes) with VST plugins while trying to do audio in Resolve, but if BMD has been also fixing these problems then I'd love to give this a try.
Yeah I've used one calle Alex Audio Butler in the past which did work well. This is a first implementation from BM so it will likely improve overtime.
@@MrAlexTech I think I heard you mention Alex Audio Butler before and I just found your video on it again. I believe that is still single band (volume only) ducking, correct? With multiband ducking it uses the frequency response of the vocal to duck only those frequencies down in the music instead of turning the entire music track down. There are lots of spectral processors that are used for this (Trackspacer and Soothe2 are very common) and recently a free spectral processor called The Masker was made by tech students at a university in Italy which can do this same kind of thing.
Tried yesterday and I’m getting strange phasing from the plugin, like delay compensation not working. Will look into it more and try different plugins.
@@spidif2544 Could be that you activated the LISTEN button? That one is only to monitor the input signal and should not left on.
So much new stuff! Thaks Alex
Wonderful ”quick” review!!! You are the best!
That last color feature is like Lumetri color in Premiere. What a time saver. Blackmagic design had a massive hardware and software release. Everything is jaw dropping.
Great video. Played around with the beta. Feels much smoother, even with fifers and effects applied.
Invaluable work as always Alex, thank you ^^
Wow - that music Remixer looks amazing!!! Great video1!
Awesome video. thank you for all the help you provide to DaVinci Resolve users
Thanks for the recap. Really like this piece of software!
Amazing video. Thanks so much 🎉
11:45 Petition to call this 'little man' Leonardo
haha agreed!
Fantastic, 10:03 we just need being able to add curves to Fusion FX keyframes in the edit page next also being able to save bunch of Fusion/OpenFX together as presets in the Powerbin (without needing to apply them on adj clip or other workarounds).
As always, great video Alex.
Being able to take out vocals from music is a game changer. I've wanted that for decades.
Thank you Alex, awesome overview. I am always tempted to skip forward on long videos, but this time I grabbed a coffee & settled in for the informative entertainment. Years ago I got the free version of DR17, was impressed enough to buy DR18 Studio upon release, and have not looked back. Best purchase ever! And you complimentary educational tutorials are brilliant, thank you again.
Thanks Alex! Looking forward to more of your videos!
Thanks for the vid 😁
Thanks Alex. Don't worry about long videos when you jam it full of very interesting details. Great job!
They should have added transition timing (duck in/out fader) control to the audio ducking. Would have made it much more useful.
They're there within the advanced. It's not as simple as a slider but the controls are there. I'll figure out exactly what each option does and make a video!
@@MrAlexTech nice to know. Thanks!
Yessss!!! They finally updated text plus on edit page 😍
Great new features, and great video as usual Alex, I will wait for the official released version.
fantastic! thank you
That’s cool that it’s getting the audio remix. One thing having me go back to Adobe so looking forward to it
Absolutely impressive
Thanks for the timestamps...wil rewatch when I installed to try the features
sir thanks for the video ❤
Great preliminary look at the new features in DR 19!
I am feeling you so much the Music Remixer is fly
You’re the best!!! Thank you so much for always keeping us so informed about whats going on with our handy dandy DR software. I'm looking forward to testing out a few of the transcription features. 😂 I have msged them so many times about things I feel as though it should have and the edit timeline feature from the transcript is one of the main ones I was looking for. Now they are no descript but they are getting better. Now if they come out with updates to do edit your transcripts just like you descript that would be insane!!!!!!
The Music Remixer probably works using phase cancellation. It isolates the vocals/drums/bass whatever and then phase cancels it against the original. It's a technique I used to use back in the day when I wanted to isolate a vocal from a track (for remixes and stuff) using the instrumental version or vice versa. It's a really cool technique and not too tricky to do with good quality tracks.
Music Remixer is such an incredible feature! Fairlight Tracking as well.
Appreciate you. Super pumped for this version!
Appreciate you back :)
great content as always....thanks
WOW!! So many exciting features in this release!!!
Honestly you are a legend
