Depends. If they want to keep up with adobe on the AI front, they might have to introduce features that aren't feasible to run locally, in which case paying for the compute will be necessary.
Im fine with subscriptions for cloud features, but I really hope everything else stays just pay once

I know Resolve can stabilize footage from Blackmagic cameras gyro info. If it could stabilize Sony footage with Sony's gyro data that would simplify the post production process for us Sony filmmakers.

I would like that when I change the speed of the clip all of my key frames wouldn't disappear.
18.6 also introduced the Shape nodes in Fusion as well as the Extrude 3D node, meaning creating 3D logos from 2D PNG logos is now possible natively in Fusion. That one was pretty big.

@@juliancantillo97 I have a video on it, but you need a script from the Reactor plugin called Vector Snapshot, which will make an SVG from a PNG (depending on the PNG, you might need to make it all white to get the correct mask data), then you need a script from X Session called sPolygon Converter, and that will take all the Polygon masks from the SVG group and turn them into sPolygon nodes which you can then extrude into 3D, then you can use the original image as the texture/color.

I'm hoping the Fusion page gets full USD support, with an editor for creating content, maybe borrowed from Blender. I'd like to see a version that's specifically for VR/AR headsets that allows you to create a virtual set, and walk around it, placing objects, lights and cameras.

What I am hoping for, is the ability to save Presets to drag and drop directly on clips in the edit page. WHY do they not have this?!
Controversial feature wish, a second playhead that always follows the mouse cursor so you can move the playhead with your mouse rather than having to click and drag on the timeline to move it. It's literally the only feature I miss from when I was using FCP. Makes editing and cutting sooooo much more speedy.

I'd love to see them take a crack at how Alex Audio Butler used to be where you can label certain tracks as voice, music, or sound fx and have Davinci do it's best to auto-mix everything to sound good. At least give creators a good starting point. I've tried to recreate it with my own track settings for those categories, but seeing as how they've already introduced dialog leveling and export leveling for TH-cam, it feels like they could keep going further with it.
Adding timecode to the generated transcript would be helpful.
Generative fill would be a game changer

@denizahmet2299 I agree that it's not likely to be in the upcoming update, but at some point, DaVinci will need generative features to compete in video creation. Perhaps it'll only be a pro feature with limited credits. I'm not sure how they will implement it, but I can't imagine it's not coming at some point.
@@intriguedviewer501these models can absolutely be run locally on your gpu. The cloud based rendering is just a subscription based business model that is great for people who have low performance computers, but absolutely not necessary.
@@denizahmet2299there’s no reason for it to be server based either. These ai models aren’t that big and can absolutely run on your gpu for an average workstation.
I definitely want reverse voice isolation. It would allow me to build my own library of ambient sounds if I could kill those unwanted voices. I also think we will eventually have voice-trained models with text-to-speech so you can turn your scripts into audio using your own voice models (or other people's). This technically exists outside of DR right now.
This came up on the BMD forum and most said it was unlikely as technically it is not just a an inversion of voice isolation. You have to actually record room tone and ambient sound separately. (I have been known to forget)

I've said it a bunch of different places...but a real investment into Motion Graphics would be great. Fusion is awesome, I love it for VFX and things in that vein, but using it for complex motion graphics just isn't what it was built for. Keyframing is a pain, Text+ is cool but lacking and complicated, and I just think the workspace isn't suited for AE Motion Graphics level work yet.
Yeaah I do agree with that. I'd like a fusion lite that's more catered for Motion graphics.
It's about to get even more important, with Unreal Engine releasing wild motion graphics support.

Fusion could be more optimized. I also want it to challenge AE.
The UI in general could be optimized too but I'm afraid they are afraid to mess with the UI.

Things I want in 19 - Find & Replace Text in subtitles, Gyro Stabilization for DJI , Sony, and GoPro cameras, Set defaults for Titles, Retime Audio (e.g. Audition), Detect beats in music, ability to export a timeline for archiving, generative AI for scene extending and object removal, customize UI layout. Probably a few more if I thought about it a bit more. It is a forgone conclusion there will be a major release at NAB as they have done that every single year since they acquired it.
I want:
* Resolve SDK (so that Krokodove plugin can be used in modern Resolve)
* A better Macro editor/creature comforts for packaging plugins
It's insane how difficult Black Magic has made it to create tools for Resolve

I am very happy with resolve just like it is. Right now i dont anything i wish to have in the next version. Plus i will never accept a monthly subscription system.
Would love to see a bin view option like Avid or Premiere where you can move your clips around freely into columns/rows of any varying length or width. Or even just custom sort options in the bins so I can freely rearrange my footage without having to change metadata.
I really want fairlight updates so I can save insert chains to paste them to different projects

I agree - I can feel it too lol. I felt like the last few years Resolve has lead the way for new features and everyone else just was late to the game. My wishlist:
• Not docking UI, but freedom to move panels to either side or many more predesigned destinations. Keep it stable that way. Say I wanted to move mixer to the 2nd monitor or to the left side of the screen.
• Power Bin expansion capabilities
• Some super cool tool like ReLight that blows PPro out the water even more.
• MOST IMPORTANT - customizable clip color labels. Ditch the weird labels give me the pallet, or more easily identifiable shades.
I’d also like music isolation/removal.
And yes, the best generative AI feature for Resolve would be a type of frame extension.
We def need more adjustments for motion graphics and 3D workflow in Fusion. Also more AI features for generative work. Better workflow with text features and captions.
A few things I'd like to see
Magic Mask to editable shapes for tweaking (also make it easier to refine rather than wholesale re-calculate if you miss a bit)
More stable depth map model (less temporal flickering)
Better post DOF to use with depth map
Use of gyro data from other cameras + also use them for tracking assist/sky replacement on moving shots
Waves clarity VX pro has the ability to remove voice and just have BG noise. I’ve been using it for years. I’m pretty sure Davinci uses the exact same method for the voice isolation. Waves is way better. You can see where everything is so you can fine tune with EQ to remove etc. but Davinci will eventually make it better and Waves Clairty VX Pro will be pointless.
"Where's the clip with the chocolate cake and the plunge saw?" I would really like a global media manager that could index all my media files. Not just for a specific project, but for everything on my hard drives - categories, tags, colors, etc.

Defo, I used to use it on all my projects when I used PP, but when moved over to DR I had to use audition to do the audio.

Generative AI can be downloaded and used locally on your own workstation (without internet access and without a subscription or fee) and the open source option is Stable Diffusion. While not likely anytime soon, it's feasible that Generative AI could be used for compositing and general clean-up of files... something that desperately needs to be simplified and improved in the video editing world. If anyone is capable of implementing something like this, it would be BM.
I didn't word my point too well ha. I know you can technically but it'll balloon the install massively making it pretty unviable. But yeah I agree. With the speed everything is moving, it won't be too long

@@MrAlexTech I would be fine if Blackmagic charged for the license cost. That way it wouldn't effect the $300 price and professionals would have the option.
Reverse isolation would be cool. Annoying when people talk to me while filming something and it's spoilt with someone talking to the cameraman!

Yes add also perhaps: to search for fonts (it's missing and asked long ago), to have an improved way to insert Description data into Yoçutube manager, more consistency with transparency ... little but important things as well ... 🙂
Wow, has it already been a year since 18.5? I would love to see proper 3D USD support on the Fusion page. As well, I think it would be awesome if the Fairlight page became a proper DAW. So we could create music, edit and create visual effects all in the one program.
Learn cinema 4D and then learn logic Pro… There’s no way da Vinci could possibly compete with those two programs. And they shouldn’t even try.
I personally would like more fusion tools to help with text animations and so on. Better random movements. Loads of plugins like that are in AE and this is the only area where I think resolve is behind adobe
We are close to NAB, which means, this update is more or less for stability reasons. Something big is coming soon with the new Version (19)...
I'd just be happy if you could push two clips together and do an auto crossfade. Of if you didn't have to zoom in to specific level to get the resize clip controls. I know this is super pro software with a free version but these little things much such a difference. 🙂

My wish: Make the subtile tool better. It’s annoying that it doesn’t just complete the sentences and gives it a cut. Instead it has the first word of the next sentence still on screen. Also here in your video. Quite stressful to edit that afterwards with cut/paste. It could be much more clever.

What I would like: 1. Be able to change the frame rate in the timeline afterwards with a click. 2. Better LUT that also looks like Hollywood. I never use the existing ones. 3. I never understood the complicated node trees for the effects. This needs to be more user-friendly.
Not being a fusion nerd I all the same think the structure is logical and probably needs no change. Just learn with some of the many useful TH-cam tutorials out there!

My two thoughts were per-word animated subtitles and audio remix, and then you mentioned both of them!
If it was a year ago, I'd have said Resolve was too film-focused for that, but with the addition of TikTok uploads etc, it seems like they're happy to add more "social-friendly" features.
Some form of audio wind reduction or some specific tools to deal with wind frequencies / supression
We need more stability that was compromised since 18.6 and also please a UI revamp!
I would love the transcribe options to work for multiple audio tracks, even if it transcribes only one. Currently if I have a multi audio track and I transcribe it and try to bring it in cut, it'll only bring in the first track, even if there are multiple. So I'm basically unable to use it.
Also the ability to customize how long a gap can be, and other settings for it is really a must for me to really utilize it. Right now I still have to spend a lot of time cleaning up after it if I end up utilizing it, that more or less is the same amount of time as I'd take from the start without it.
I'd love to see an "actual" option to create a timeline based on source media resolution/frame rate like PP has had for years. Also the ability to replace clips easier in the timeline. The whole shift 11/ button option thing is not that great and it happens at the playhead. In adobe it's just done by dragging the new clip with the alt/opt key held down. They also really could improve the voice isolation with some more parameters and control.
Spell checking would be super useful for people with dyslexia.
I'm hoping for these things:
1) upgrade the Proxy Generator to a decent Media Encoder for "mass delivery" where you can select a bunch of clips/timelines and get them out in one go.
2) provide an easy way to turn sync bin items into real multicam clips (eg from ATEM-switchers)
3) maybe they will create a "graphics/titles page" that is layer oriented, kind of like a vertical timeline extension, a bit like AE. Yet under the hood, it creates a fusion flow. This might attract users who so far have shyed away from the fusion page.

@@simoz78 I just made the mistake of doing all of the audio in Resolve, I won't be trying that one again anytime soon. For right now, I'd prefer BMD to put their efforts into the Edit page as there are alternatives for the audio by using another DAW for editing and mixing. Once the Edit page is solid, then I think Fairlight is next in line for an overall.
reverse voice isolation is easily done eg: on track "a" you got a voice and noise, add noise cancelation on track "a" and bounce (or route) this to an oher track.(track "b") . reverse the polarity of track b. play back track a(without NC) and b. now you only hear the delta of those track wich is the noise/ambient
I'd have to say that export rendering is the most frustrating. When working in FCP at least you could send the project out to be rendered in Compressor and keep working on the project (or another one). It sucks that once you are on the deliver page and exporting stuff - you are essentially stuck.
Yes, this would be useful to be more effective while working on different projects in the same time!
Updates to speed and quality of the Magic Mask would be great. It struggles with a lot of things still, and is kinda clunky. The dialogue leveler also seems to be hit or miss, sometimes seeming like it doesn't even do anything.

I hope they improve the smart reframe feature in the next update. I'm currently not using it as it cuts my subject out too often.

I would love to see AI keyword ability in the media pool. With the auto category for sound it would be cool to see scene detection just like face detection.
Workspace customization with different storable Workspace presets! (Similar to Pr)
Somekind of audio beat detection feature like BeatEdit for Adobe
Detect bpm, customize the grid for the markers and set them to clip or sequence
A plugin similar to mister horse for davinci.
(This are really the last superficial features why i didnt switched fully yet)
A long time bug in DaVinci Resolve that they doesn't fix is that the first time when we select two keyframes of a clip (after opening that little keyframes panel under the clip) in the Edit page and try to drag them, only one keyframe comes, and the other one becomes deselected. So we need to press ctrl + z, select them again, and them they come both together.
there were many Fusion updates too and I suppose we'll see many more of these especially in the context of interoperability with 3D software and game engines in the context of Virtual production which is very big right now. (basically allowing a director to see a 3D scene live when shooting actors over green screen) or for use in live TV production and such .
Oh yes, Davinchi lags behind Adobe in terms of text editing. As there is no possibility to edit text directly on the screen. Tk also there is no possibility to find the font you need by keywords and you have to scroll constantly to find the font from the list. And the animation of subtitles is very lacking. As the acceleration of the audio track directly on the timeline without going to fairlight. Add a ruler like in Premiere pro on the monitor screen. Grid which is in the efects is not very convenient.

1. Everything related to "text" is going to be easier to use (especially these tiny text boxes in the inspector. I really think they're going to finally so something about it)
2. The magic mask tool will stop losing the tracking data each time a small change is done, or if a clip moved (but it should have been fixed a long time ago in my opinion)
3. I think the captions are going to get the full text+ capabilities, or something similar
4. A proper "spline / key frames" editor on the edit page... And motion blur on everything that can move (edit page)

I'd like to see the mini panel work in the editor. One example. when reframing a clip, I can use the wheels to set the X position, Y position and Zoom numbers.
An easy way to lightwrap would be cool.
It needs the clip colour to come through to multicam timeline, so you can see which cameras are being used and how often in the timeline.

Much better anti-flicker. The ability to separate vocals from music and vice versa. Set music length to timeline length to where it chops up the music to fit the timeline. The ability to break apart the layout into separate screens so I can fully utilize my 3 monitor setup. Playback on one screen. Timeline on second screen. Inspector on third screen.
Can we have the ability to add transitions to the clips without jumping hoops and do a voodoo dance for a simple task like that ?
They need to make compound clip work, so that it works with voice isolation,
every time I use it, there is double talk and metallic voices, When I put it on a new timeline.
I have had problems with compound clips since version 16.
I always get decompose in place when I have to render, which makes the compound clip itself useless, unless it's just B-roll.
Is there anyone else having this problem?

You can do reverse isolation by putting an isolated voice out of phase with the original signal
Can you help me with the cloud syncing feature, when i put a video in the timeline it does its thing, starts and finishes proxy, but when it gets to the upload part to the cloud so the person im editing for can see it, it just stops, or it stutters and dosnt go past -~~~, for an example it would go .23Mb-2.34Gb to -2.34 GB, or it would just stop in the middle and not go any further. ive already tried only proxies, proxies and originals, restarting both pc and davinci, new updates, making a copy of it and deleting old, i even got a whole new 2 T of storage and it still wouldnt go any further, just to note we have the 500 GB deal and we still have more than 300 GBs. thank u

I would like an MXF OP1A MPEG-4 update to the render page. Not sure why Davinci doesn’t have this option
Perhaps some stuff on the 3D side of things. They have that setting for different render engines - even though there's only one or two if I remember correctly. Could make the camera solver free, since I just use blender for that anyway.
I hope they steer clear of subscriptions though. As good a deal as the paid resolve is, I haven't even got that yet. A subscription? No, I'm way too tight for that.
Do you think they will add automatic music mixing as in Premiere? Like adding a music track shorten it to your liking and da vinci automatically mix it (shorten it) without disrupting the music all too much.

I've never tried it but could the "reverse voice isolation" not be achieved by having the original audio and the isolated track and reversing the phase of either?
The only thing I really want its DaVinci Resolve could read the Cue Markers in a Wav audio File, this is the only feature I miss from Premiere Pro

You don't need huge files on your computer for generative AI, you just need a powerful GPU. Stable diffusion doesn't require any enormous files to run. As long as you have a decent computer you can run AI generative tools locally.
