Now that I'm living alone, on a low income, there are times when I would appreciate something like that as a gift, especially if it's more expensive. Last Christmas my Mom hot me a knife organizer and I was thrilled (she also knew I had been wanting one). Not all of us have a husband or so (I've never been married)..before you tell me to get a second job or get a higher paying job , I already work 50 hours a week caring for my severely disabled sister, and I'm committed to that for the rest of her life. I found in my last relationship, flowers didn't mean as much to me as I always thought they would as they die so fast I'm not sure why you had to get so mad at me, my comment was made in light of my own current situation..doesn't mean you have to like it..I knew one wife that only liked practical gifts because she grew up so frugally. I like romantic gifts, but also practical too. And yes men do like appliances (power tools)..I don't know why you had to get so mad at me..was kind of unkind I think (and yes my feelings are hurt)..can we just agree that I do me and you do you?

alot of people complain about debras irratating, over-reacting and annoying character towards ray but if it wasnt for ray being stupid sometimes and debra always being on rays ass over small things then every body loves raymond wouldnt be as funny as it is 🤷🏻♀️
This is pure love between brothers. When you rise to the occation to help out then you see it is needed. At the end of the day Ray needed it. Debra got insanely happy. Case closed

That’s kind of odd, Frank saying that he killed a bird once and showing no remorse. When the Thanksgiving episode, he and the rest of the Barones, besides Debra, went ballistic when Amy’s mom, Pat, killed a bird when it accidentally hit their door.
I always had the hunch that Robert loved and appreciated her a lot more. He cared about who was as a person, and the interests she had. Ray, on the other hand, didn't really have an interest in what she cared about, what concerned her, or her needs unless it was of some selfish concern to him. I always thought Robert was jealous of Ray that he got a woman like Debra, and perhaps entertained the scenario where, instead of Ray, she and him had met instead and gotten married. He certainly would made a better husband. Brave, smart, thoughtful, considerate, compassionate, selfless.

I've seen a few people say Robert is a better match for Debra, because he knows so much about her. I disagree. As the show went on you learn that Debra was popular, rich, and rebellious. Ray wasn't popular, tried desperately to fit in, Debra was the first girlfriend that didn't treat him like garbage. Robert's jealousy against Ray was obvious, and I remember Robert was married to that stripper by the time Ray and Debra were dating. Granted when you meet his ex, she wasn't a nice person, but if he's obsessing over his brother's girlfriend it sounds like they were both the reason for the divorce. The episode with Timmy the Traffic Cop puppet, think about the things Robert said to Debra using that puppet - and Ray was in the room. Robert is a sleezball. Robert was dating Amy, and proceeded to date two/three other women. Then if you remember he told Debra she should apologize to him because she spilled the beans and caused Amy to break up with him. I'd rather have Ray over Robert any day.

Lol, Debra really picked the wrong brother in lots of ways. She'd have been perfect for Robert though there would have been no need for a show! He was easily the better match for her. I do love Ray but I could also foresee Debra leaving Ray in later years, before they turned into Frank and Marie. I think she loves Ray very much but his immaturity and her having to mother him would drive her nuts to the point of no return. For some reason I could see Debra leaving Ray for a woman 5-10 years down the line.
It's Robert's unhealthy obsession with Ray and how great Ray's life is that makes him know these things about Debra. He obsesses over details. That doesn't in any way make him a good match for her; on the contrary. She is not able to deal with neuroticism and they would hate each other. Ray is actually quite "normal" but dopey, and he's a pushover. You might not like the dynamic but he matches Debra perfectly. Robert on the other hand is an eccentric and needs an eccentric-lover like Amy (trained her whole life dealing with her own brother).
