Airspace MADE EASY With MINECRAFT! | Class A B C D E G Explained

  • In this video we try to go over the basics of airspace using Minecraft to get a feel for how things look in real life… if you could see it in real life. Anyways, follow along as we talk about Class A, Class B, Class C, Class D, Class E, and Class G airspace. Not in that order through. We even go over what it looks like on the sectional or Terminal Area Chart (TAC), the required equipment, what you need to enter, weather visibility minimums, and cloud clearances. Everything you need to know for your flight training. PLUS, we made a fancy memory aid to help you memorize the weather minimums. So if you're trying to understand airspace for your private pilot license, this should do the trick.
    UPDATE: @Yifan Wu Pointed out a mistake we made, at almost a year and half after publishing! We accidently said tower instead of approach for class C airspace. In reality, you need to contact approach frequencies for class B and C airspace first, which don't always reside in the tower of the field you're working with. Regardless, you only need to established two way radio communication with ATC prior to entry on class C and D airports. We wanted to give Yifan Wo a shout out for the clarification. THANKS!

    So, heli pilot from TUS here and I've flown into DVT and across PHX B and below and through and whatever else was needed for the mission. Yes, this is complex airspace. PHX B is one of the tougher ones if you're going by the chart.
    Your son did a GREAT JOB minecrafting the "layers" (levels?) of the airspace. Good on him!!
    You did a great job explaining the airspace. MY problem is G. I can't seem to "get" G. Sadly most people focus on "most G" not "night G" or "G within 1/2 sm of airport when in the pattern" or "G when you're a helicopter." Not your fault. But when all said and told "Hey here's G and we have two exceptions" it's more like "Here's G and there are 5 exceptions and some have to do with sunilight and some with traffic pattern work close to the rwy and some if you're in a heli."
    If you ever decide to redo or addon or just make a special "Look G is complicated so here it all is" vid... I'd love to watch. I like your style. Your son does good minecraft. Honestly I'd even pay. Education isn't free, and if you can provide it, maybe other people will read this comment and agreee.
    I would pay to watch a great Class G discussion using whatever tools (minecraft, legos, etc) you find useful.
    Best wishes from your neighbor 120sm to the south.

      @flywiththeguys  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jetfrostgaming I searched and searched for the answer on this when I made the video. I could find references to everything accept standard horizontal dimension because it's a calculation based off of the airports IFR departure needs, based of runway length and assuming a standard climb gradient. I think this is why when you look at different resources online, you'll find 4-5 NM as the standard answers, because thats roughly what you get when the math is done. Heres a good reference for it - www.faa.gov/air_traffic/publications/atpubs/pham_html/chap17_section_2.html#3doI71270Chri

    Going through flight training now with my dollar ride in a few days. We learned mainly what the bases and ceilings are and how they are depicted, but it was just too much to keep track of without any other visual aid or even a real good explanation of what is going on and why.
    Class E and G were the most confusing for me, but describing it like a blanket, occasionally being "pushed down" to 700' AGL or even to SFC for IFR traffic triggered that "aha!" moment for me. So much easier to understand now, will definitely help me during flight planning. Thank you so much for this video!

      @@flywiththeguys I’m currently getting lessons to fly ultralights per part 103. After that I’ll shoot for the LSA. That’s why this view is so important to me.

    Fantastic way to explain all of it. I bet it took a while to construct all of this in the game. Nice work.

      It did. But seeing REALLY helps understand airspace. I'm working on a 2.0 in the background where I recreate ALL of the Phoenix Airspace.
