Robin’s backstory makes it more depressing when you realized that she was been alone for 20 years with no one to trust and always on a run since 8 years old. The whole world wants her dead and see her as a threat. What is more worst than being hurt is being alone.

seeing robin get beat up by spandam really made me hate him and feel bad for her...the I want to live doesnt get me as much as her tied up on her side being kicked and made fun of and having to hear her crew fighting for her life which she didnt want and how franky and usopp get through to her more than anyone else...
I think what made Arlong so memorable is the same thing that made Frieza so memorable in Dragon Ball Z. These were villains who were _exceptionally,_ hard to watch and stomach at times, *cruel.* And doing it to such powerless, normal civilians, like the peaceful Namekians, along with Namekian _children_ and the people of Nami's village. All they could even hope to do was stoically endure the fishmen's cruelty for 8 years, Nami painstakingly trying to buy back her home for 100 million beri, only for Arlong to play the most sadistic trick on her when she nearly had it all. Watching him taunt her ("When did I break my promise?") while she could only sit there shaking in anger with tears streaming down her face was some _sickening_ shit. Then Luffy comes in and after Nami pleads to him, he readily agrees to help her without a reason or motivation. He didn't even hear her story. All he cares about is Arlong making her cry ("Don't you dare make my navigator cry!") and he gets the whole crew on board to take him without a single objection. That's the moment you knew this show was for real. _That_ is how you portraying undying friendship. _That_ is camaraderie. Fairy Tail doesn't even come close.
My personal favorite was Enies Lobby cause I truly saw how far Luffy and his crew would go to look out for one another and how they saw Robin as one of them even when she was an enemy not long before. I also loved how Robin opened more emotionally we saw her laugh more, cry more, and just have a much better personality. It was also nice to see her start calling her crew mates by name instead of job titles in the crew
yeah i watched op for the 3rd time recently but that was the first time i realized she actually did this, i actually didnt like usopp and robin when i fist watched it but after enies lobby it was pure love
I think the exact opposite. It took everything good about Alabasta and it worse. Vivi is WAY more interesting than Rebecca, and BW are much better vilains than the Donquixote Crew, with a few exceptions. And it had so much filler, I couldn't care less about all that stuff with the Dwarves. But it wasn't that bad because Doflamingo is a great villain, and Fujitora a great character, and it had Law's FB, that was amazing.
Marineford was the most hyped, nerve wreaking and painful arc in my book. It always felt like Luffy, through all this trouble would save ace and would succeed, he even had a great band of amazing pirates aiding him along the way. Oda gave us that false hope that ace was saved, only to be killed not long after. It broke that repetitive thing of I will always save everyone and succeed and showed that you can't always save everyone, even if you go through the impossible. It was a wave of emotions for many and it also was a stepping stone in luffys development to make him become stronger through this pain.
I cried in my mother's lap when Luffy is about to burst out in despair, we have his brother's life in our hands, the chance to get him to safety is right before our eyes, but it failed.
i liked it cause it felt like it’s own little anime within the show, it took time and developed the villains and it introduced 2 of my favorite characters, it also gave Luffy a fleet. It might have been long but I started watching one piece because it was long, I was tired of watching a good show then having it end and me being sad, so a long arc for me at least wasn’t too bad

Funny thing, Pudding is a big part of why I put Whole Cake Island so high up in my own rankings. I think her backstory provides an interesting complement to Sanji's own backstory in the arc and connects it to an over-arching theme of the arc. So much of the arc is about toxic family environments and parents who treat their kids more as pawns than as children. Another focus was on judging people over their appearances or other physical factors they could not control. Pudding's story tying into both keeps this from being merely about Sanji with some additions and more about the general experience. The fact these character stories all take place in and influence the broader arc is what makes it so good, in my opinion.
water 7 to me serves as a prelude for enies lobby I usually think of both of them when I say Enies Lobby even though so much happens in Water 7 on its own but I can't think those two apart so it's up there with Enies Lobby IMO

My top 5: 5. Impel down - just pure fun 4. Skypea - i love the holy war and the entire skypea lore / technology ++ 3. Enies lobby - because obvious reasons 2. Marineford - because obvious reasons 1. Sabaody. Idk why just love it Also didn't know people liked whole cake. It is just okay for me. Not bad, not good, but my impression was that others hated it.
My personal favorite arc that has stuck with me since the first time i watched it (im an anime only) was the Enies lobby arc. From what i remember it was one of the coolest and most interesting arcs for me. With the bonus of having water 7 just before it and the amount of badass moments that happened here just blew me away as a kid. I still get goosebumps seeing Luffy stand back up and launch a barrage of punches into Lucci's face. Second i think it has to be Sabaody archipelago. The most satisfying punch i have ever witnessed and then the total defeat of the strawhats had me in such shock. The emotions i felt when i watched this was just cheer terror. The feeling of seeing my heroes just get so freaking overpowerd was a really scary feeling to me. Then after that i have to put in the war/after war arc. The beginning of the war was so freaking badass. With pirates just appearing FROM UNDER THE OCEAN and just ramming through the marines. Then the amount of struggle luffy went through to just get here made it even better. Seeing the badass whitebeard in action, all of the other shit that happend was awesome and seeing blackbeard do something NO ONE thought was possible by using 2 devil fruit powers. Then by the end Luffy got another huge defeat with Ace's death. Seeing him being depressed and crushed really touched me personally as i was going through something similar at the time of losing one of my best friends in a car accident. AKA Arc's with good action and emotions are my favorite.
13:32 that’s facts. The Arlong arc was the arc that got me actually into the series and made me like luffy a whole lot more. That moment when you see luffy, zoro, usopp and sanji march to arlong’s fort is just so epic and there’s so much emotion in the whole arc too. You can see that even though he’s an idiot, luffy actually has empathy and will do anything for his friends. Watching him beat the snot out of arlong was great too I loved this arc
The ringing of the bell is incredible, but there's one other moment that really hit me hard, and I never see anyone else discuss it. It's when the stupid snake is asleep and chasing his friends going to ring the bell as they slowly get further and further away before disappearing. The snake is then revealed to have been "running" forward in the real world while asleep and unwittingly actually succeeds in helping the straw hats make his dream a reality again. It's played for laughs but it legitimately made be cry a bit reading it and I'm 26. Stupid snake with his innocent, simple wish to see his friends again.
The "I want to live" scene was the only anime scene that made me cry. That, and the Jet Gatling, the Merry funeral, the revenge on Franky House, the episode about Sanji and the All Blue salt, the Gear Second reveal and many more make the entire Water 7 saga my all-time favorite.

I think enies lobby deserves the no.1 spot unlike the marineford arc who took to long to get into bc of the speeches and the flashback it take to long to get into the fight scenes and there isn't enough fight scenes unlike enies lobby i mean in the start of enies lobby the fight begines immeadiately as soon as they arrive the flashback was actually good and OP 6 builds up the hype of what we will see in the arc like the first apperance of gear 2 and 3 and even new techniques like sanji's devil jambe zoro's ashura chopper's monster point and new weapons like usopp's/sogeking's kabuto nami's new climatact and even the buster call not only that we also get to see a heart breaking moment at the end (The Death Of Going Merry)
Sabaody is FAR AND AWAY the best arc in One Piece. It LITERALLY CHANGED THE TRAJECTORY OF THE MANGA. Before the formula was "new island beat the big bad and move on." But this arc opened the entire world of One Piece and introduced characters that continue to affect the world of One Piece
oh my god, i remember watching water 7 for the first time, and how much the fight between luffy and usopp shocked me. especially when they were literally screaming at each other in the merry, and sanji stopping luffy from telling usopp to leave the crew. i still remember how my heart was pounding, because i just...didnt expect any of that. all of a sudden, it was SO serious. it gives me shivers still. when first watching it, i just assumed they were going to fix the merry somehow etc etc. but then luffy having to actually make tough decisions and zoros absolutely phenomal insights into what it means to be ACTUAL pirates that cant just fight and split up and get back together while still trusting the captain seriously was AMAZING. i think that scene alone makes water 7 one of my fave arcs
Yes that and the whole arc is just amazing start to finish with no boring parts. The characters are forced in difficult situations throughout the whole arc and there are good twists throughout making it the best arc in one piece, I also just consider water 7/Enies lobby to be 1 big arc
I’m new to one piece and even though I’ve heard of it and seen some of the beginning parts of it on tv, I didn’t like and get in to it, but now I really regret not doing that because it is such a gem of an anime, and it’s been such a blast getting to know all of the characters and arcs and devil fruits and everything about the series through your videos.

Impel down i think is my favorite, it seemed to me like it was the first time that luffy wasn't strong enough to get through the arc on his own, there was so much at stake as well considering it was the arc right before marineford, in trying to save Ace
No. Top five should be water 7/Enies lobby, Marineford, the 1st Saboady, impell down 5th one being personal preference. I count water 7 and Enies lobby as one arc. Dressrosa had a lot of good stuff in it, however there was so much bad in it as well. I had watched all naruto/naruto shippuden, all bleach, all db/DBZ, and all of one piece up until Dressrosa including filler episodes without ever having to drop it/take a break from watching. But Dressrosa made me stop watching one piece for a while. It felt like a chore while watching it again there were some good parts in there but the parts that were bad were dreadful. Honestly f**k these tontatta mfer’s. Y the heck they they ever introduced, the only good thing about them is when Leo I think it was claimed on robin and we got to see a close up of her boobs, that’s it. Other than that they were incredible annoying and uninteresting from what I remember. Maybe I need to give Dressrosa another chance but the fact that I couldn’t make it through the arc says something. And again I do know there are a lot of good parts in it; colosseum, laws back story, Doffys back story, reuniting with sabo, and of course Luffy vs Doffy gear 4th, that brought the arc up a lot for me
@@DarkRainb0wKnight I would say Dressrosa is not the most interesting arc and it is also filled with a lot of unnecessary and lackluster fighting due to the amount of extra characters that makes it (currently) the longest arc. The anime starts to make more episodes than chapters for every arc after the Punk Hazard arc and I would say Dressrosa does a bad job at being stretched out mainly because it was the first time. The problem with anime that only adapt a single chapter of the manga or even less into one episode is that they turn like the 3 minute chapters into 20 minute episodes. Dressrosa also seems to have worse animation which is one of the main reasons people watch anime instead of reading the manga. I would rather watch a better arc like Skypiea, Water 7, Enies Lobby, and Marineford or even the longer arcs like Whole Cake Island and Wano two or three times in a row instead of watching Dressrosa.

You are so right that you either dislike or LOOOOOVE Dressrosa, my friend and I can never agree on how good it was. In my opinion, it’s definitely top five material with its hype tournament matches, heart wrenching setting, and it’s brilliantly developed antagonist. We understood Doflamingo so well and were rooting for Corazón and Law all the way. The only concession I have is that it is indeed rather lengthy. But in my opinion, that doesn’t detract much from the overall impact the arc had on me.
Sir Crocodile is without question the 'best' villain imo... His coolness brings a whole new flow into the story... Edit: I mean, just look at his coat or his badass purple hair

My top 10 1° Archipelago - Admirals, Supernovas, Celestial Dragon and Luffy tells to Enel "This world is way bigger than you think, there are some monsters down there." After 200 eps, Luffy gets wreck by the Government. 2° Marineford - I don't even need to explain, Younko, Admirals, Gol D. Ace, Dragon's Son 3° Impel Down - I just love this arc, where do you will ever see a Jail, such as power as this one in any anime, Bon Clay showing that Friendship is everything, Magela being a monster, 4° Skypedia - Great Arc this one show that the world in One Piece is amazing 5° Alabasta - WHAT A ARC, dude I love Grand Line I don't even know why, Gol D. Roger and Don Krieg hipped the Grand Line +8000
My top 5: 1: Water 7- So much sadness and great drama. It has so much intrigue, not to mention a beautiful setting. Also, Luffy vs. Usopp. Hands down, my favorite arc in One Piece. 2: Enies Lobby- Great Plot, some of the best emotion in the series, and the best fights. The "I want to live" genuinely brought tears to my eyes 3: Marineford- Sheer hype, not to mention some amazing bits of action and emotion 4: Arlong Park- What made One Piece great. Some really emotional moments 5: Whole Cake Island- Big Mom was a genuinely intimidating villain and Katakuri was also a great character. Sanji's story arc was captivating and amazing all the way to the end
An unpopular opinion of mine is that I wouldn't even have Ennies Lobby in my own top 5 arcs of One Piece. While I do love the high-energy beginning of the straw hats decimating the army of mooks failing to stand in their way, the asspulls of Luffy's gears, Sanji's diable jam, and Zoro's Asura bring down what are supposed to be the 3 major fights of the arc for me. Luckily, Usopp sniping Spandam and the return of the Going Merry are enough to keep this arc in my top ten.
Are those really ass pulls? Luffy's gears make some kind of sense even if not completely and had their negative effects from using it when he first exhibited them. Sanji's and Zoro's I guess don't really make too much sense but I think we forget that this isn't our universe, it's the universe of One Piece, nothing so far has been overly unbelievable. Everyone is naturally capable of greater feats than a normal human in our world. At the very least, Luffy and Sanji seemed to have developed theirs but Zoro's kinda just came to him. This probably just means that Zoro had the potential for it all along. It just I guess were just going to have to wait to see it in action again, You never know, Oda always shows things and explains them later in the story.

Nice list. As always, I enjoy that you back up your choices with some insightful explanations. 7 of your top 10 made it onto my list, with #9 Impel Down also being my #9. I believe the main difference between us is that I seem to prefer arcs that are more self-contained: Arlong Park, Jaya, Skypeia, Thriller Bark, & Whole Cake Island, with Water 7 & Enies Lobby both being the exceptions (& you convinced me of the significance of Marineford, so it ended up in the Top 5). You seem to prefer grander world-building arcs, highlighting their importance to the greater narrative and worldbuilding (Zou, Reverie, Sabaody, Sabaody 3D2Y). Water 7 is my #1, mostly because I loved the crew's breakdown when they are confronted with an obstacle that they could not fight off, that being the 1-2 punch over the irreparable state of their ship, loss of their money, & the disappearance of Robin. I did notice something about Thriller Bark (my #10) that made me rethink it, & it concerns the final words of Gekko Moria: "You think you can...!? Then go! You think things have been tough so far? The real nightmare is waiting in the New World!" He curses Luffy with those words, and what happens in the next arc? Exactly what Moria wished: for Luffy to lose his crew, just as Moria himself did. As a person, Moria is pathetic. He lost his crew to Kaidou in the New World, & since then he's been so traumatized that he refuses to form new, meaningful connections. That makes him weak, because it doesn't give him anything he's willing to protect, and thus nothing meaningful to risk to improve himself. I like that Luffy is fighting not just a Warlord, but the idea of giving up the desire to improve. In my mind, this is a more meaningful fight of wills than Luffy vs. Katakuri who matches Luffy more in terms of ability spread than ideology. But then, maybe I just need to reread Whole Cake Island. It's my #7, & I'm one of those who enjoyed the surprise 4th act that were the Escape chapters. Maybe I'm just missing something.
My Top 3: 1. Ennies Lobby - I bawled my eyes out when Robin yelled "I want to live". Also, we get a Nami fight which showcases her new clima tact. Plus, Sogeking shooting marine soldiers from the top of the building is just perfect. 2. Marineford - Luffy's entrance. Whitebeard's entrance. Admirals showing off their power. Luffy running towards Ace. Ace escaping and fighting alongside Luffy. It's excellently made. 3. Impel Down - Luffy entering Impel Down through the help of Boa Hancock made this arc a bit more suspenseful. After that, Luffy's journey towards level 6 and meeting old enemies in every level made this arc a lot more fun. Bon Clay's loyalty towards luffy after fighting the snow wolves. Level 5.5. Luffy almost dying. Arriving too late in Level 6. Magellan stopping Blackbeard Crew in their path. Bon Clay staying behind in order to open the gates of justice is just marvelous.
Thank you very much for all of this. You helped me get caught up on my understanding of One Piece, a show that I hated when I first encountered it, and now really enjoy, based off of waking up and catching pieces of it playing on my Hulu, and then getting interested, and finding your videos.

I respect your opinion but I honestly think that Alabasta is one of the worst arcs. It feels extremely stretched out and bland for the majority there. I'd really like to hear why it's your favorite :)
No, I'd say it's no question, Enies Lobby is pretty objectively the most flawless and most "One Piece-y" arc so far if you ask me, while Marineford is a total mess that I can't for the life of me understand all the love for lol
Top 5 - 5 - Impel down/water 7/Alabasta/dressroas - couldn't decide... theyre all 5th, but impel down is definitely more 5th than the others 4 - Fish man island - At the time of watching, Arlong seemed like such a strong character and the hype was crazy, nami had a lil emotional back story aswell which definitely left people crying. But the best part to this arc, had to be the walk to arlong park :/. 3 - Sabaody - :O :O introduction to the rookies, the whole punching a celestial dragon was crazy. Kuma in action, showing us the power difference and the lengths luffy has to go. AND KIZARU :O, this guy. a good amount of comedy aswell with the flying fish and stuff 2 - Enies lobby - Best fight in one piece... the promotion of robin as a good character, sogeking strapped to zoro, The war against the government... this is so close to being the top pick. 1 - War Arc - Way too much happened, every moment was good, even added in comedy with buggy etc. Constant action, akainus chase was the greatest thing, the man just never gives up. But this is definitely the best arc. - OH luffys conquerors haki was crazy af aswell.
Awesome video! I was pleasantly surprised to see you had Return to Sabaody so high. That arc has a special place in my heart and to this is probably the most fun I’ve ever had reading a manga weekly.
8 months after this video and wano is shaping up to be one of the best arcs in the series. A really cool and diverse environment, another motive to take down kaido, interesting antagonist in kaido and orochi (who has been a very different character from you would expect) and a lot of hype for some possibly amazing fights
Marineford is such a masterpiece. A culmination of so many chapters executed to perfection! Here's hoping that the final arc will do the same and be even better after so much more story and character development. Can't wait for the day when Marineford will finally take place nr. 2, so it will make room for the final arc. I have hope in Goda that it will happen.
for the people thinking skypiea is irrelevant we got to know: 1. observation haki as "Mantra" 2. The existance of sky islands 3. roger's cravings on the golden bell from a certain person shown recently on the manga 4. the sighting Klabautermann of the going merry 5. Nolan Story relevant later in desrossa 6. the discovery of poseidon from a poneglyph 7. Introduction of dials used later on other arcs i will never understand why this arc is polemic. even if it weren't important on the story overall it expands the world of one piece greatly and introduces new massive cultures and civilizations.
1. Marineford 2. Dressrossa 3. Enies Lobby 4. Whole Cake Island. 5. Alabasta. In defense of Dressrossa, no other arc besides marineford had such gut wrenching emotion. Yes, theres the "I WANT TO LIVE" in Enies lobby, but that was a singular moment, im talking about arcs as a whole. No other arc has elaborated on characters pasts like Dressrossa has. From turning senor pink, a diaper and bib wearing weirdo, into a legitimate character that was just trying to remember the life he had to Trafalgar Law running from the misguided genocidal campaign against his country due to white lead disease.. That moment when child Law left his baby sister in the hospital closet and just ran..gets me everytime. I even feel sorry for DOFLAMINGO, his past was just as horrific. Hunted down and cast into a life of being on the run and eating garbage just to survive, losing his mother to disease and even shooting his own loving father! Not to mention all the new characters/abilities that Dressrossa introduced! The hilarious bartalameo, bad ass Kyros, one of my favorite characters in the whole series Admiral Fujitorah and we get to see gear 4th for the first time! Not to mention, Dressrossa literally set up the rest of the anime from that point on! With the Introduction of the Straw Hat grand fleet, Sanji and the twirly haired pirates leaving for Zou inevitably leading to that arc and whole cale island, getting Doflamingo put into impel down, which just recently was visited in the anime. Oh and pissing off Kaido by destroying his business, you wouldnt have any of the next arcs without the events of Dressrossa, and that includes Wano! Theres also so many dark themes at play. Thousand of people being toy slaves and having their loved ones forget about them, slavery of the Tontattas, Doflamingo literally attempting GENOCIDE. First making all the people kill each other, which is fucked up in itself, but then have a slowly closing cage of death strings and wstching a million people run for their lives, trampling over others, telling loved ones to go on without them and everyone working together to try and halt the advance of the bird cage, jesus christ, thats the kind of story telling that puts you on the edge of your seat! Fujitorah showing humility, but most importantly rebelling against the powers that be by bowing to the people of Dressrossa. There so much to love about that arc its unreal. Sure, its the longest arc, but that doesnt at all take away from the quality, it adds to. Saying that its length makes it less enjoyable is like saying One Piece's length makes it less enjoyable as a whole.
I originally read marineford after finishing alabasta and some background info,I was underwhelmed.But I went back and read everything in order and then again read it,I was blown away and WATER 7 IS MUCH BETTER THAN WCL Arc
Once again, I must say I respect your opinion and salute your explanation as for why each arc is in each place. I have a few comments to make, though. First of all, kudos for having WCI so high up on the list, I feel it gets an unnecessary amount of backlash for some reason (Mr. Mojr made some fantastic in-depth analysis videos regarding why WCI is such an amazing arc). Secondly, I disagree with your opinion of the Dressrosa arc; I don't know in what place I would put it, I'm not saying I would put it higher on the list, but I think it's a pretty solid arc with tons of fantastic content and revelations; although I have to agree it's not without its flaws. I would also put Enies Lobby above Marineford, but it's my opinion and I respect and see why you would think otherwise. I don't even know if Marineford would be my second place, actually. But then again, I hate to hierarchise (be it One Piece arcs, music bands, movies, TV shows, etc.). Also, sorry if I made such an impact with a previous comment regarding Sabaody's pronounciation, it was not my intent, haha! I was just trying to help you pronounce it correctly, since it's based off a portuguese word - and, surprise surprise, I am portuguese. To finish off this Dressrosa of a comment, thank you so much for these arc reviews and for this fnal surprise, the list. It has been a pleasure to tune in every week to watch them. i don't agree with many of your choices, but i appreciate your arguments. My number 1 is Alabasta then Whole Cake, then Dressrosa: the first and the last shichibukai, and the first emperor to be faced.
The list is based mostly on anime: 1. Enies lobby - anime - i was excited for this arc and it did not disappoint. Powerful and compressed action. An entire arc was a pleasure to watch through, being the last faster Paced arc in anime unfortunately. 2. Reverie - manga - I thought this arc was going to be an obstacle to wait through before glorious Wano. I was wrong. Instead of expected 15-20 chapters of talking, world building and some action we got ~4-6 chapters of pure hype. I know it's unfair since its such a short arc, but man, it is the only arc i was entirely excited all the way through. 3. Impel Down - anime and One Pace (rewatched like 3 times now) - focusing your action on mostly luffy is refreshing and speeds things up considerably. Definitely one of heavier action packed arcs with great animation and threatening villain. 4. Sabaody archipelago - One Pace - well animated arc with great execution of memorable moments. Even if it lacks the action at first, the tension and uncertainity is captured here better than in thriller bark. 5. Marine ford - anime - now hold on from that comment! I am conscious that anime version is not the best one to check out. With it being partially done on One Pace, this arc instantly became my favourite and ties to Enies Lobby. Condensed action, great artwork and fast pacing is the way this arc is meant to be viewed as. Anime with its constant buggy fillers, overdone reaction shots from 50 people on battlefield, 'people' commenting on events downplays it greatly... And it's a shame. I also felt like my problem was with most of fights being inconclusive, stopped or interrupted. But looking at it from current mindset, that's more believable in a chaotic scenario such as war. Slow adaptation is not helping and just makes the prolonged events feel not rewarding in the slightest - the action loses momentum and we are back to new fight which isnt going to be concluded. Definitely read manga for that arc or wait for One Pace to finish editing it ( currently there are 9 episodes covering 18 chapters).
In my opinion. Dressrosa would be just above Impel Down. Water 7 would certainly be above Alabasta, hell even Thriller Bark would be above Alabasta to me. Don't get me wrong, I think Alabasta is an amazing arc, but it's just the fact that One Piece doesn't have a genuinely bad arc. Also Return to Sabaody is NOT one of the best arcs. Especially not better than Sabaody.
enies lobby best arc. - Straw hats declaring war on the ENTIRE WORLD (sogeking didn't even hesitate to shoot the flag) - robins change in mind( I WANNA LIIIIVE!!!!) - Luffy unlocks gear 2 and bodies blueno - Zoro vs Kaku was just insane - Sanji vs Jabra (sanji using diablo jambe for the first time) - intense chase between robin and luffy - Franky kicking ass - chopper beast mode was sick - Spandam running away with robin and is shot by sogeking 3 gazzilion miles away on top of that building thingy - Luffy against rob lucci was just...... - gear three revealed - Luffy about to be defeated but is surprised about usopp being there too, Usopp gives amazing speech to hype up luffy to finish the fight - When the straw hats have no where to go, BAM the going merry shows up. - Finally going merrys funeral. (dont lie, you cried about a ship too)

Robin’s backstory makes it more depressing when you realized that she was been alone for 20 years with no one to trust and always on a run since 8 years old. The whole world wants her dead and see her as a threat. What is more worst than being hurt is being alone.

I think what made Arlong so memorable is the same thing that made Frieza so memorable in Dragon Ball Z. These were villains who were _exceptionally,_ hard to watch and stomach at times, *cruel.* And doing it to such powerless, normal civilians, like the peaceful Namekians, along with Namekian _children_ and the people of Nami's village. All they could even hope to do was stoically endure the fishmen's cruelty for 8 years, Nami painstakingly trying to buy back her home for 100 million beri, only for Arlong to play the most sadistic trick on her when she nearly had it all. Watching him taunt her ("When did I break my promise?") while she could only sit there shaking in anger with tears streaming down her face was some _sickening_ shit.
Then Luffy comes in and after Nami pleads to him, he readily agrees to help her without a reason or motivation. He didn't even hear her story. All he cares about is Arlong making her cry ("Don't you dare make my navigator cry!") and he gets the whole crew on board to take him without a single objection.
That's the moment you knew this show was for real. _That_ is how you portraying undying friendship. _That_ is camaraderie. Fairy Tail doesn't even come close.

My personal favorite was Enies Lobby cause I truly saw how far Luffy and his crew would go to look out for one another and how they saw Robin as one of them even when she was an enemy not long before. I also loved how Robin opened more emotionally we saw her laugh more, cry more, and just have a much better personality. It was also nice to see her start calling her crew mates by name instead of job titles in the crew

I think the exact opposite. It took everything good about Alabasta and it worse. Vivi is WAY more interesting than Rebecca, and BW are much better vilains than the Donquixote Crew, with a few exceptions. And it had so much filler, I couldn't care less about all that stuff with the Dwarves. But it wasn't that bad because Doflamingo is a great villain, and Fujitora a great character, and it had Law's FB, that was amazing.

Marineford was the most hyped, nerve wreaking and painful arc in my book. It always felt like Luffy, through all this trouble would save ace and would succeed, he even had a great band of amazing pirates aiding him along the way. Oda gave us that false hope that ace was saved, only to be killed not long after. It broke that repetitive thing of I will always save everyone and succeed and showed that you can't always save everyone, even if you go through the impossible. It was a wave of emotions for many and it also was a stepping stone in luffys development to make him become stronger through this pain.
I cried in my mother's lap when Luffy is about to burst out in despair, we have his brother's life in our hands, the chance to get him to safety is right before our eyes, but it failed.
When Usopp ran into Sogeking at Sabody it was hilarious!!! Lol

i liked it cause it felt like it’s own little anime within the show, it took time and developed the villains and it introduced 2 of my favorite characters, it also gave Luffy a fleet. It might have been long but I started watching one piece because it was long, I was tired of watching a good show then having it end and me being sad, so a long arc for me at least wasn’t too bad

Funny thing, Pudding is a big part of why I put Whole Cake Island so high up in my own rankings. I think her backstory provides an interesting complement to Sanji's own backstory in the arc and connects it to an over-arching theme of the arc. So much of the arc is about toxic family environments and parents who treat their kids more as pawns than as children. Another focus was on judging people over their appearances or other physical factors they could not control. Pudding's story tying into both keeps this from being merely about Sanji with some additions and more about the general experience. The fact these character stories all take place in and influence the broader arc is what makes it so good, in my opinion.

My personal favorite arc that has stuck with me since the first time i watched it (im an anime only) was the Enies lobby arc. From what i remember it was one of the coolest and most interesting arcs for me. With the bonus of having water 7 just before it and the amount of badass moments that happened here just blew me away as a kid. I still get goosebumps seeing Luffy stand back up and launch a barrage of punches into Lucci's face.
Second i think it has to be Sabaody archipelago.
The most satisfying punch i have ever witnessed and then the total defeat of the strawhats had me in such shock. The emotions i felt when i watched this was just cheer terror. The feeling of seeing my heroes just get so freaking overpowerd was a really scary feeling to me.
Then after that i have to put in the war/after war arc.
The beginning of the war was so freaking badass. With pirates just appearing FROM UNDER THE OCEAN and just ramming through the marines. Then the amount of struggle luffy went through to just get here made it even better. Seeing the badass whitebeard in action, all of the other shit that happend was awesome and seeing blackbeard do something NO ONE thought was possible by using 2 devil fruit powers. Then by the end Luffy got another huge defeat with Ace's death. Seeing him being depressed and crushed really touched me personally as i was going through something similar at the time of losing one of my best friends in a car accident.
AKA Arc's with good action and emotions are my favorite.
13:32 that’s facts. The Arlong arc was the arc that got me actually into the series and made me like luffy a whole lot more. That moment when you see luffy, zoro, usopp and sanji march to arlong’s fort is just so epic and there’s so much emotion in the whole arc too. You can see that even though he’s an idiot, luffy actually has empathy and will do anything for his friends. Watching him beat the snot out of arlong was great too I loved this arc

The ringing of the bell is incredible, but there's one other moment that really hit me hard, and I never see anyone else discuss it. It's when the stupid snake is asleep and chasing his friends going to ring the bell as they slowly get further and further away before disappearing. The snake is then revealed to have been "running" forward in the real world while asleep and unwittingly actually succeeds in helping the straw hats make his dream a reality again. It's played for laughs but it legitimately made be cry a bit reading it and I'm 26. Stupid snake with his innocent, simple wish to see his friends again.

The "I want to live" scene was the only anime scene that made me cry. That, and the Jet Gatling, the Merry funeral, the revenge on Franky House, the episode about Sanji and the All Blue salt, the Gear Second reveal and many more make the entire Water 7 saga my all-time favorite.

I think enies lobby deserves the no.1 spot unlike the marineford arc who took to long to get into bc of the speeches and the flashback it take to long to get into the fight scenes and there isn't enough fight scenes unlike enies lobby i mean in the start of enies lobby the fight begines immeadiately as soon as they arrive the flashback was actually good and OP 6 builds up the hype of what we will see in the arc like the first apperance of gear 2 and 3 and even new techniques like sanji's devil jambe zoro's ashura chopper's monster point and new weapons like usopp's/sogeking's kabuto nami's new climatact and even the buster call not only that we also get to see a heart breaking moment at the end (The Death Of Going Merry)
Sabaody is FAR AND AWAY the best arc in One Piece. It LITERALLY CHANGED THE TRAJECTORY OF THE MANGA. Before the formula was "new island beat the big bad and move on." But this arc opened the entire world of One Piece and introduced characters that continue to affect the world of One Piece

oh my god, i remember watching water 7 for the first time, and how much the fight between luffy and usopp shocked me. especially when they were literally screaming at each other in the merry, and sanji stopping luffy from telling usopp to leave the crew. i still remember how my heart was pounding, because i just...didnt expect any of that. all of a sudden, it was SO serious. it gives me shivers still. when first watching it, i just assumed they were going to fix the merry somehow etc etc. but then luffy having to actually make tough decisions and zoros absolutely phenomal insights into what it means to be ACTUAL pirates that cant just fight and split up and get back together while still trusting the captain seriously was AMAZING. i think that scene alone makes water 7 one of my fave arcs
Yes that and the whole arc is just amazing start to finish with no boring parts. The characters are forced in difficult situations throughout the whole arc and there are good twists throughout making it the best arc in one piece, I also just consider water 7/Enies lobby to be 1 big arc
I’m new to one piece and even though I’ve heard of it and seen some of the beginning parts of it on tv, I didn’t like and get in to it, but now I really regret not doing that because it is such a gem of an anime, and it’s been such a blast getting to know all of the characters and arcs and devil fruits and everything about the series through your videos.

No. Top five should be water 7/Enies lobby, Marineford, the 1st Saboady, impell down 5th one being personal preference. I count water 7 and Enies lobby as one arc. Dressrosa had a lot of good stuff in it, however there was so much bad in it as well. I had watched all naruto/naruto shippuden, all bleach, all db/DBZ, and all of one piece up until Dressrosa including filler episodes without ever having to drop it/take a break from watching. But Dressrosa made me stop watching one piece for a while. It felt like a chore while watching it again there were some good parts in there but the parts that were bad were dreadful. Honestly f**k these tontatta mfer’s. Y the heck they they ever introduced, the only good thing about them is when Leo I think it was claimed on robin and we got to see a close up of her boobs, that’s it. Other than that they were incredible annoying and uninteresting from what I remember. Maybe I need to give Dressrosa another chance but the fact that I couldn’t make it through the arc says something. And again I do know there are a lot of good parts in it; colosseum, laws back story, Doffys back story, reuniting with sabo, and of course Luffy vs Doffy gear 4th, that brought the arc up a lot for me

@@DarkRainb0wKnight I would say Dressrosa is not the most interesting arc and it is also filled with a lot of unnecessary and lackluster fighting due to the amount of extra characters that makes it (currently) the longest arc. The anime starts to make more episodes than chapters for every arc after the Punk Hazard arc and I would say Dressrosa does a bad job at being stretched out mainly because it was the first time. The problem with anime that only adapt a single chapter of the manga or even less into one episode is that they turn like the 3 minute chapters into 20 minute episodes. Dressrosa also seems to have worse animation which is one of the main reasons people watch anime instead of reading the manga. I would rather watch a better arc like Skypiea, Water 7, Enies Lobby, and Marineford or even the longer arcs like Whole Cake Island and Wano two or three times in a row instead of watching Dressrosa.

You are so right that you either dislike or LOOOOOVE Dressrosa, my friend and I can never agree on how good it was. In my opinion, it’s definitely top five material with its hype tournament matches, heart wrenching setting, and it’s brilliantly developed antagonist. We understood Doflamingo so well and were rooting for Corazón and Law all the way. The only concession I have is that it is indeed rather lengthy. But in my opinion, that doesn’t detract much from the overall impact the arc had on me.
Also can I just say, Fujitora is everyone’s favorite marine after this arc. Cmon.

My top 5:
1: Water 7- So much sadness and great drama. It has so much intrigue, not to mention a beautiful setting. Also, Luffy vs. Usopp. Hands down, my favorite arc in One Piece.
2: Enies Lobby- Great Plot, some of the best emotion in the series, and the best fights. The "I want to live" genuinely brought tears to my eyes
3: Marineford- Sheer hype, not to mention some amazing bits of action and emotion
4: Arlong Park- What made One Piece great. Some really emotional moments
5: Whole Cake Island- Big Mom was a genuinely intimidating villain and Katakuri was also a great character. Sanji's story arc was captivating and amazing all the way to the end
An unpopular opinion of mine is that I wouldn't even have Ennies Lobby in my own top 5 arcs of One Piece. While I do love the high-energy beginning of the straw hats decimating the army of mooks failing to stand in their way, the asspulls of Luffy's gears, Sanji's diable jam, and Zoro's Asura bring down what are supposed to be the 3 major fights of the arc for me. Luckily, Usopp sniping Spandam and the return of the Going Merry are enough to keep this arc in my top ten.
Are those really ass pulls? Luffy's gears make some kind of sense even if not completely and had their negative effects from using it when he first exhibited them. Sanji's and Zoro's I guess don't really make too much sense but I think we forget that this isn't our universe, it's the universe of One Piece, nothing so far has been overly unbelievable. Everyone is naturally capable of greater feats than a normal human in our world.
At the very least, Luffy and Sanji seemed to have developed theirs but Zoro's kinda just came to him. This probably just means that Zoro had the potential for it all along. It just I guess were just going to have to wait to see it in action again, You never know, Oda always shows things and explains them later in the story.
How can you possibly not have it in your top 5 that’s impossible there’s no way u can name 5 better arcs the only one I’m that you could maybe say is better is Marineford, I have Marineford 2nd, Saboady 3rd impel 4th, water 7 I just count with Enies lobby. your entitled to your opinion but your opinion is blasphemous, there’s no way it’s a logical to have it outside top 5
Nice list. As always, I enjoy that you back up your choices with some insightful explanations. 7 of your top 10 made it onto my list, with #9 Impel Down also being my #9.
I believe the main difference between us is that I seem to prefer arcs that are more self-contained: Arlong Park, Jaya, Skypeia, Thriller Bark, & Whole Cake Island, with Water 7 & Enies Lobby both being the exceptions (& you convinced me of the significance of Marineford, so it ended up in the Top 5). You seem to prefer grander world-building arcs, highlighting their importance to the greater narrative and worldbuilding (Zou, Reverie, Sabaody, Sabaody 3D2Y).
Water 7 is my #1, mostly because I loved the crew's breakdown when they are confronted with an obstacle that they could not fight off, that being the 1-2 punch over the irreparable state of their ship, loss of their money, & the disappearance of Robin.
I did notice something about Thriller Bark (my #10) that made me rethink it, & it concerns the final words of Gekko Moria: "You think you can...!? Then go! You think things have been tough so far? The real nightmare is waiting in the New World!" He curses Luffy with those words, and what happens in the next arc? Exactly what Moria wished: for Luffy to lose his crew, just as Moria himself did.
As a person, Moria is pathetic. He lost his crew to Kaidou in the New World, & since then he's been so traumatized that he refuses to form new, meaningful connections. That makes him weak, because it doesn't give him anything he's willing to protect, and thus nothing meaningful to risk to improve himself. I like that Luffy is fighting not just a Warlord, but the idea of giving up the desire to improve. In my mind, this is a more meaningful fight of wills than Luffy vs. Katakuri who matches Luffy more in terms of ability spread than ideology.
But then, maybe I just need to reread Whole Cake Island. It's my #7, & I'm one of those who enjoyed the surprise 4th act that were the Escape chapters. Maybe I'm just missing something.
My friend's favorite arc is actually Jaya since it's the arc most like a traditional pirate story.
My Top 3:
1. Ennies Lobby - I bawled my eyes out when Robin yelled "I want to live". Also, we get a Nami fight which showcases her new clima tact. Plus, Sogeking shooting marine soldiers from the top of the building is just perfect.
2. Marineford - Luffy's entrance. Whitebeard's entrance. Admirals showing off their power. Luffy running towards Ace. Ace escaping and fighting alongside Luffy. It's excellently made.
3. Impel Down - Luffy entering Impel Down through the help of Boa Hancock made this arc a bit more suspenseful. After that, Luffy's journey towards level 6 and meeting old enemies in every level made this arc a lot more fun. Bon Clay's loyalty towards luffy after fighting the snow wolves. Level 5.5. Luffy almost dying. Arriving too late in Level 6. Magellan stopping Blackbeard Crew in their path. Bon Clay staying behind in order to open the gates of justice is just marvelous.
Dude, the Reverie arc was so bad in the anime, I ended up reading the manga holy shit.

@@X-ray-pl3jz Yee. It's not as fun as Marineford, but to this day, nothing in One Piece has hit me harder in the feels than the scene with Nami, Luffy and the straw hat. And that means a lot.
I respect your opinion but I honestly think that Alabasta is one of the worst arcs. It feels extremely stretched out and bland for the majority there. I'd really like to hear why it's your favorite :)

No, I'd say it's no question, Enies Lobby is pretty objectively the most flawless and most "One Piece-y" arc so far if you ask me, while Marineford is a total mess that I can't for the life of me understand all the love for lol

5 - Impel down/water 7/Alabasta/dressroas - couldn't decide... theyre all 5th, but impel down is definitely more 5th than the others
4 - Fish man island - At the time of watching, Arlong seemed like such a strong character and the hype was crazy, nami had a lil emotional back story aswell which definitely left people crying. But the best part to this arc, had to be the walk to arlong park :/.
3 - Sabaody - :O :O introduction to the rookies, the whole punching a celestial dragon was crazy. Kuma in action, showing us the power difference and the lengths luffy has to go. AND KIZARU :O, this guy. a good amount of comedy aswell with the flying fish and stuff
2 - Enies lobby - Best fight in one piece... the promotion of robin as a good character, sogeking strapped to zoro, The war against the government... this is so close to being the top pick.
1 - War Arc - Way too much happened, every moment was good, even added in comedy with buggy etc. Constant action, akainus chase was the greatest thing, the man just never gives up. But this is definitely the best arc. - OH luffys conquerors haki was crazy af aswell.

Awesome video! I was pleasantly surprised to see you had Return to Sabaody so high. That arc has a special place in my heart and to this is probably the most fun I’ve ever had reading a manga weekly.
And now comes wano which will blow the marineford war and make it look like a trailer
8 months after this video and wano is shaping up to be one of the best arcs in the series.
A really cool and diverse environment, another motive to take down kaido, interesting antagonist in kaido and orochi (who has been a very different character from you would expect) and a lot of hype for some possibly amazing fights

Here's hoping that the final arc will do the same and be even better after so much more story and character development. Can't wait for the day when Marineford will finally take place nr. 2, so it will make room for the final arc. I have hope in Goda that it will happen.

2. The existance of sky islands
3. roger's cravings on the golden bell from a certain person shown recently on the manga
4. the sighting Klabautermann of the going merry
5. Nolan Story relevant later in desrossa
6. the discovery of poseidon from a poneglyph
7. Introduction of dials used later on other arcs
i will never understand why this arc is polemic. even if it weren't important on the story overall it expands the world of one piece greatly and introduces new massive cultures and civilizations.

In defense of Dressrossa, no other arc besides marineford had such gut wrenching emotion. Yes, theres the "I WANT TO LIVE" in Enies lobby, but that was a singular moment, im talking about arcs as a whole. No other arc has elaborated on characters pasts like Dressrossa has. From turning senor pink, a diaper and bib wearing weirdo, into a legitimate character that was just trying to remember the life he had to Trafalgar Law running from the misguided genocidal campaign against his country due to white lead disease.. That moment when child Law left his baby sister in the hospital closet and just ran..gets me everytime. I even feel sorry for DOFLAMINGO, his past was just as horrific. Hunted down and cast into a life of being on the run and eating garbage just to survive, losing his mother to disease and even shooting his own loving father! Not to mention all the new characters/abilities that Dressrossa introduced! The hilarious bartalameo, bad ass Kyros, one of my favorite characters in the whole series Admiral Fujitorah and we get to see gear 4th for the first time! Not to mention, Dressrossa literally set up the rest of the anime from that point on! With the Introduction of the Straw Hat grand fleet, Sanji and the twirly haired pirates leaving for Zou inevitably leading to that arc and whole cale island, getting Doflamingo put into impel down, which just recently was visited in the anime. Oh and pissing off Kaido by destroying his business, you wouldnt have any of the next arcs without the events of Dressrossa, and that includes Wano! Theres also so many dark themes at play. Thousand of people being toy slaves and having their loved ones forget about them, slavery of the Tontattas, Doflamingo literally attempting GENOCIDE. First making all the people kill each other, which is fucked up in itself, but then have a slowly closing cage of death strings and wstching a million people run for their lives, trampling over others, telling loved ones to go on without them and everyone working together to try and halt the advance of the bird cage, jesus christ, thats the kind of story telling that puts you on the edge of your seat! Fujitorah showing humility, but most importantly rebelling against the powers that be by bowing to the people of Dressrossa. There so much to love about that arc its unreal. Sure, its the longest arc, but that doesnt at all take away from the quality, it adds to. Saying that its length makes it less enjoyable is like saying One Piece's length makes it less enjoyable as a whole.
I originally read marineford after finishing alabasta and some background info,I was underwhelmed.But I went back and read everything in order and then again read it,I was blown away and WATER 7 IS MUCH BETTER THAN WCL Arc
Once again, I must say I respect your opinion and salute your explanation as for why each arc is in each place. I have a few comments to make, though. First of all, kudos for having WCI so high up on the list, I feel it gets an unnecessary amount of backlash for some reason (Mr. Mojr made some fantastic in-depth analysis videos regarding why WCI is such an amazing arc). Secondly, I disagree with your opinion of the Dressrosa arc; I don't know in what place I would put it, I'm not saying I would put it higher on the list, but I think it's a pretty solid arc with tons of fantastic content and revelations; although I have to agree it's not without its flaws. I would also put Enies Lobby above Marineford, but it's my opinion and I respect and see why you would think otherwise. I don't even know if Marineford would be my second place, actually. But then again, I hate to hierarchise (be it One Piece arcs, music bands, movies, TV shows, etc.). Also, sorry if I made such an impact with a previous comment regarding Sabaody's pronounciation, it was not my intent, haha! I was just trying to help you pronounce it correctly, since it's based off a portuguese word - and, surprise surprise, I am portuguese. To finish off this Dressrosa of a comment, thank you so much for these arc reviews and for this fnal surprise, the list. It has been a pleasure to tune in every week to watch them. I'm kind of sad because I wanted the next series to be about the cover stories, but not too much, actually. Any content you make, will be good content, so I'm not worried. I'll be here to watch the fruit videos, along the other ones you make. Keep it up, my good man!

Skypia is what got me into One Piece so I rank it highly do to nostalgia
The list is based mostly on anime:
1. Enies lobby - anime - i was excited for this arc and it did not disappoint. Powerful and compressed action. An entire arc was a pleasure to watch through, being the last faster Paced arc in anime unfortunately.
2. Reverie - manga - I thought this arc was going to be an obstacle to wait through before glorious Wano. I was wrong. Instead of expected 15-20 chapters of talking, world building and some action we got ~4-6 chapters of pure hype. I know it's unfair since its such a short arc, but man, it is the only arc i was entirely excited all the way through.
3. Impel Down - anime and One Pace (rewatched like 3 times now) - focusing your action on mostly luffy is refreshing and speeds things up considerably. Definitely one of heavier action packed arcs with great animation and threatening villain.
4. Sabaody archipelago - One Pace - well animated arc with great execution of memorable moments. Even if it lacks the action at first, the tension and uncertainity is captured here better than in thriller bark.
5. Marine ford - anime - now hold on from that comment! I am conscious that anime version is not the best one to check out. With it being partially done on One Pace, this arc instantly became my favourite and ties to Enies Lobby. Condensed action, great artwork and fast pacing is the way this arc is meant to be viewed as. Anime with its constant buggy fillers, overdone reaction shots from 50 people on battlefield, 'people' commenting on events downplays it greatly... And it's a shame. I also felt like my problem was with most of fights being inconclusive, stopped or interrupted. But looking at it from current mindset, that's more believable in a chaotic scenario such as war. Slow adaptation is not helping and just makes the prolonged events feel not rewarding in the slightest - the action loses momentum and we are back to new fight which isnt going to be concluded. Definitely read manga for that arc or wait for One Pace to finish editing it ( currently there are 9 episodes covering 18 chapters).
I really had worries when I saw the first half of this. But the top 5 lines up for me! Great list! Can't wait to see what's next!

In my opinion. Dressrosa would be just above Impel Down. Water 7 would certainly be above Alabasta, hell even Thriller Bark would be above Alabasta to me. Don't get me wrong, I think Alabasta is an amazing arc, but it's just the fact that One Piece doesn't have a genuinely bad arc.
Also Return to Sabaody is NOT one of the best arcs. Especially not better than Sabaody.

- Luffy about to be defeated but is surprised about usopp being there too, Usopp gives amazing speech to hype up luffy to finish the fight
- When the straw hats have no where to go, BAM the going merry shows up.
- Finally going merrys funeral. (dont lie, you cried about a ship too)
If anybody claimed that they didn't cry at Merry's funeral is either lying or has no soul. ( I was holding it in pretty good until Merry spoke, then waterfalls)
