    and nearly all have a "cool factor" or are very utile - like that leather pen rest/tray! Ink stains would only add unique character to it over time. :-)

    Thanks for uploading this nice video. I was particularly interested in the Nagazawa pen store. Unfortunately, when I visited my son who used to live and work in Osaka (several years ago) I did not know about the shop and missed out on the experience! He has since moved to the US, so it will be some time probably before I manage to get a trip out to Osaka and remedy this lapse!
    I was also intrigued by the Pilot EF pen you bought: this must write exceedingly fine. As a 'Western writer' the thinnest Japanese nib I use is a Platinum soft fine, which is great for correcting typed up manuscripts and similar. The EF Pilot looks gorgeous, so perhaps I should take the plunge and get one.

    • @InkyRocks
      @InkyRocks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, for fine writing, I enjoy a Japanese EF (when I write really small). The weird thing is I enjoy just about every width of nib except obliques! I also like Platinum’s EF but it’s a nail-very hard (which I enjoy on occasion hahaha!). Hopefully you can make it out here one day soon!

    Hey Inky my family is going to Japan around christmas time, is there any brick and mortar FP stores you can recommed that sell tono & lims (especially shokido) or taiwanese inks (ink institute, lennon tool bar ect)? Once again, thanks for the video 💖

    • @InkyRocks
      @InkyRocks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For Tono & Lims-Okamotoya. For Taiwanese inks-Eslite (Taiwan company). All I’ve seen of Shokido is at shows. We end up having shows about every other month so you may want to check for that. (Depending on when you come in December-there may be a Wagner show!)

    Lovely to see all the goodies you added from Osaka. I have the opportunity to go to the SF Pen Show. If I go, how would I find CY? (I'm sorry to say I don't know who he is; I'm still relatively new to my fountain pen hobby. I'd love to say "Inky Stinky" sent me.)

      hahaha! That's hilarious--thanks so much! There should be a map/list of all the booths at the show. He would probably be under Tokyo Station Pens. Though I have not been to the SF Pen Show before, I hear it is awesome and that is your best chance to get stuff from Japan.

    I no longer see the use of a glass pen now that I have a Kakimori brass dip pen. Which I prefer.

      Great you found something that works for you. I found the Kakimori nib to be best for swatching-I couldn’t control the width very well and it was a bit too imprecise for me. It’s definitely the winner on being less breakable for sure!

      @@Merlin012001 hahaha! I absolutely had no clue what you were talking about! And 1 hour is definitely fast considering I don't post very often! They should be coming back out with the Sanzen TR paper soon. Hopefully you can get one of those. Most people don't really see a difference ( I felt some slight ones) and some like it better. I think Sanzen also did some further tweaks to their process.

    I’m so upset that your videos never end up in my feed anymore. What gives? YT needs to get their act together. I LOVE all the cute stationery in Japan. Those sorts of things are so difficult to come across in the US, especially those blotting papers. I’ve never seen them before.

    I'm not a demo pen person, but I love the idea of using the word "skeleton " I'm assuming that it translates closer to "girders " and not human skeleton. Japanese speakers confirm or deny this please?

    Ugh my never ending debate between just adoring everything about Japanese pens except the nib size, because I love colored/ shading inks and European nibs are bigger but the QC isn't as good. What I'm saying is I have too many pens.

    • @InkyRocks
      @InkyRocks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahaha! Actually when I want a fat nib I just get a zoom or B (you can get BB or C on some pens) and just get it stubbed. There is no such thing as too many.
