The fillable stamp ink pad really caught my eye. I thought that would be such a nice way to use fountain pen ink in a different way! Thanks for the video. Take care
I would like to go to one of those shows, probably I will buy a lot of things and then ask myself why I did that but I think would be a wonderful experience.
Thanks for another interesting video. I was intrigued to see the description of the new type of Tomoe River paper. I thought Tomoe River was being discontinued for lack of demand- according to some recent reports- but clearly there is a new phase of manufacture. I'd be interested in news of this new production line.
Thank you! From what I understand, the 68gsm will stay as normal and there was a lot of eye winking about a possible replacement for the 52. I really don't know as it was not something the guy wanted to talk about. The Iroful paper was just another line that Sakae made.
I need to update this as I talked to Jacob about this. Machine number 9 will be shut down which will end both TRs as we know it. However the company has NOT said this is the end, and they are possible researching other avenues (to include overseas manufacture). It is still unclear.
I get a lot of enjoyment from your adventures in ink and stationery and you always come away with the most beautiful products. Hope your fasting goes well.
Approximately 2-1/2 years ago or so, when I’d just discovered inks and fountain pens I used an almost card stock HP paper made for inkjet printers (I think it was ink jet printers) because I had a lot left over. I wanted to look at new inks I’d just received, so I used this paper without thinking. I was in shock how the colors popped like crazy. But no sheening or shading effects showed up. It’s just the colors looked so amazing in swatch form… It was like you could dive into the velvety looking colors they were so rich… I never tried it again, maybe I should for fun… I couldn’t stop looking at them. It was a very different look… The shows you go to sound like heaven. I imagine I’d get lost in my own world looking at all the offerings… I might have to decide between food and that which is ink, paper and everything else in that world…
That is so interesting about the paper. It's funny what different properties different paper have. I hear you. That cup of coffee could mean another bottle of ink instead hahaha!
You actually got footage of the inquisitor questioning those poor Sakae employees, that's hilarious. I really do hope they come up with something that is both as smooth and ink resistant as TR, I really don't like how Cosmo Air Light feels.
Jacob is pretty paper intense. I can't keep up. A lot of people like Cosmo Air Light EXCEPT for the feel. There are rumours floating around about a replacement but that may be just wishful thinking.
@@InkyRocks I stocked up on TR just to be sure. I wouldn't be surprised if the paper mill doesn't fully understand the varied reasons people like TR and they will come up with a paper that satisfies some users, but not others(much like Cosmo Air Light). I personally don't care if it's super thin or not, but others do. Someone else might not care if the colour reproduction is a bit off, but I do. Unless someone explains that to them, they're never going to satisfy everyone who loves TR.
It’s great to see another video! The blue Tomoe River pad is the prettiest, IMO. How do you keep from having oodles and oodles of inks, living in Japan? Ah…to have pens, inks, and papers in just ONE shop within an hour’s drive would be wonderful! 😍😍😍😍
Sorry to make you feel bad, but I have a stationery store, complete with ink testing station, about a 10 minute walk from me. The downside is the damage it does on my wallet!
Why have I never thought of using fountain pen ink for stamping?? Blank ink pads are not easy to come by over here, sadly, but if I find some I am going to try a few of the inks I have. I'm always impressed by the packaging of the ink at the shows you go to, I think it shows the pride the companies have in their products.
Thanks Inky, super great (can you say that? 🤔) video. I am always pleased when one of your videos show up. I’m a Rhodia 90gsm lined paper guy, and don’t try much else. I do enjoy seeing and hearing bout your discoveries where you live. Your voice is surely a Smooth Operator 👍😉😎 🤠
hahaha! Thanks so much! I'm all ALL for people finding something they like and sticking with it. It makes life so much easier. That is kind of what I had with TR paper and now that is kind of taken away and I miss that...
I love the haul! I hope I can attend one of Bungu Joshi's expos in the future. It seems like so much fun (but also my wallet is in fear). I have been eyeing that FP ink stamp pad from Nagasawa so it's really helpful to see you using it here. 😄 the glitter ink from TAG is nice too! I think it'll be nice for invitations or art as well
A feast for the eyes as usual Alesa!!! Love the washi tape and the printed blotting papers. Really love the translucent bottles on the nagasawa inks! With regards to the paper, I hope the void left by TR will ignite others in trying the wide variety of paper options out there!
You might like to try the StarryInk Sodapop series, the bottles are very cute and have inbuilt eyedroppers. They come with glitter powder to add to your own tastes.
I always look forward to your videos! I am envious that you are able to get such unique stationary and ink (mostly for fountain pens). Thanks for sharing all of your fun purchases with us!
Wow!Good to know that the glitter doesn't come off from TAG Stationery ink (both Moon and Sun set is currently sold out on the website, I hope they will restock them soon). I really hope I could travel to Japan next year and attend all these amazing shows!
I have an affinity for watercolor painting, especially with natural paints. There's something about the natural elements of a pigment that make the paint settle differently than machine-made non-natural ones. There's often granulation, with texture varying in the areas where the color pools the most. I suspect this is why I'm partial to Cosmo Air Light. When the fountain pen ink dries on the spongy paper, there's almost a creamy texture on the surface that looks like fine quality paint. I like to imagine that my entries in a CAL notebook were painted on there with my medium nib Sailor ^-^
Thank you for the excellent explanation! I think I get so centered on the writing “feel” that other qualities get lost. I think the next big push for paper is people trying too come up with a replacement CAL as they have quit making it.
@@InkyRocks Okay, I'm back, and in less of a panic now that I've secured a purchase of various CAL notebooks. This Iroful paper is interestinggggggggg for sure🤔I've had a pack tucked away on my shelf for several weeks and have just found occasion to test it out. SPONGINESS // It's smoother to write on than the CAL for sure, I feel less resistance (and frankly, experience less hand cramping) on the Iroful-though it DOES still have that sponginess one doesn't experience with Tomoe. COLORS //The color difference in the inks...it took me a few minutes of hawk-eye staring to pin down the difference. The Cosmo and Iroful papers are very similar shades of white, with iroful having the slightesssssst grey undertone, and the Cosmo therefor seeming slightly brighter. Despite this, the colors are brighter on the Iroful. Most of the inks I swatched to compare didn't seem different in terms of hue or saturation, those qualities of the colors were consistent; but the Iroful inks seemed brighter the way colors on a phone screen change when you adjust the screen brightness. If Iroful is at 100% brightness, the CAL is lower but not by much (90% brightness, if I had to pick). HAND OILS // One thing that drives me crazy about Cosmo paper is how darn sensitive it is to hand oils compared to most other papers. Sometimes when I write on it I feel like Ricky Bobby from Talladega Nights: I'm not sure what to do with my hands 😂. Iroful is also pretty sensitive to picking up these oils, but nowhere near as bad (!!). SHADING // Not much shading on the Iroful, whatever bit there is appears subtle, not dramatic in contrast within the strokes of one letter. SHEEN // Iroful handles sheen very well! In fact when I compared writing in Organics Studio "Ralph Waldo Emerson", I noticed there was more consistent sheen than the on the CAL. A more "even coating" of sheen, so to speak, was on the Iroful. I'm not a fan of shimmer inks, and don't have enough stocked to share observations fairly. For reference, some of the ink brands I swatched included: Pilot, Sailor, Robert Oster, J. Herbin, Colorverse, Kyo-Iro, Lennon Tool Bar, Dominant Industry, Organics Studio, Wearingeul, Troublemaker, Diamine.
@@Pinkpeonysss wow! I’m obviously not an artist and don’t notice these subtle changes. Fudefan thinks Iroful and CAL is the same paper. When he asked Sakai paper (who makes/distributes Iroful) they neither confirmed nor denied it. I guess we’ll find out if Iroful runs out at the same time as CAL! Glad you got your stash of CAL!
@@InkyRocks Woah! That is a bold statement. But I’m here for the 🍵 I know we all like to say ‘agh I’m so sick of the stationery drama.’ And we are. But also are we really?😁 Who doesn’t love a hot take with a countdown attached? Time will soon tell if Fudefan is on to something💥
Hello, it's been a while. ^^ Oh dear, had a morbid thought of splashing a nagasawa ink stamp sponge with multiple colors and making custom stamps for my ink tracker. That nib stamp looks very much like my standard nib I draw for ink tracking. For now, very slowly working through the ink collection to try and clear up, but it's always nice to have a vicarious buy every now and again. XD
What a great experience that show must have been! Still trying to figure out where I can reliably get Japanese stationery here in Suisse. So very true what you mentioned about Moleskine and their paper; they really don't seem to care! I've found Leuchtturm is a good alternative with similar design aesthetic but far superior paper. Enjoy your videos immensely.
@@InkyRocks oh, agree! I was a devoted fan of their A6 pocket weekly planners and their city notebooks too. Until I started to notice the paper had changed, especially with fountain pen or even gel pens. That's when I switched to the Leuchtturm brand. Maybe worth sampling if you like the features of that other brand's notebooks.
Yeah, I think that is part of their algorithm. If you want to keep up with all your subscriptions, just use the "subscription" page as your landing page for TH-cam. That is what I do (it's in chronological order).
What you had here reminds me of what CY & Jacob talked about on their podcast especially how similar Iroful with Cosmo Air Light. Your ink choice is always stellar 👌✨ that Nagasawa stamp pad looks awesome!
Thank you! I hear you about the stamps--I used to be into it and then got out. Looks like I'm being dragged back in. But only for FP related stamps hahaha!
Every time I watch your videos I long to be in Japan. And what do I comment to you often? "You're so lucky!" LOL Thanks for another great video. Loved seeing all of the new things.
I can’t decide how I feel about these glass/dip pen inks (& pens). I’ve been trying to avoid that as Yet Another Expensive Distraction 😜, but I must say that some are really pretty. I think I'd like one of the "stub" glass pens, but I haven't done the digging to find one online. Thanks for your continued generosity!
I hear you. I was hesitant too. But they ARE so pretty hahaha! Hanabi glassworks sells stubs and he ships international. Stubs are the hardest to find. Thank you!
@@jojo7ism You can look in the description box for some links. If what you are looking for is not there, I really don't know where you can get it outside of Japan.
I’m afraid I’d just invent a way to use ink for stamps. A very messy way… I have the Sakura inspired colors of the textured notepads and I love them! They are available in the US at Vanness. I don’t think they’ve got any “sandwiches” though! Another lovely video. Thank you!
It's impossible to comment on all those incredible new things (that purple made me swoon! Indeed it would be amazing fot artist, like me hehe!) but I have to admit I am intensely heart-eyed over all the new things... Thank you for giving us a glimpse into all the wonderful things ✨
I really don't. If anything, I love their blotting paper (the pink one) and use it a lot. All their paper is great but more of a novelty item you would use in scrapbooking (like the "sandwich paper" or some of their vellum) They don't put out journals with specific paper with like, lines or dot grid, so it's not something I use everyday.
Excellent Video! Thanks! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find "Taiwan Ink Company" or "Big Purple Butterfly" anywhere on the Internet. Can you provide a link to any store/product page with this ink? Thanks again!

Thanks so much! I totally hear you. I leave my phone on airplane mode for most of the day! But I've had so many giveaways where the person doesn't contact me (I do a lot of giveaways) and I can't reach them on TH-cam.
The problem is, I don't have any way to contact the winner. There is no messaging on TH-cam, and people don't contact me when they win. I have a running pile of giveaways laying around my house! One so long, that the food (candy and tea) expired! I wish there was a better way.

Oh dear, had a morbid thought of splashing a nagasawa ink stamp sponge with multiple colors and making custom stamps for my ink tracker.
That nib stamp looks very much like my standard nib I draw for ink tracking.
For now, very slowly working through the ink collection to try and clear up, but it's always nice to have a vicarious buy every now and again. XD
I think a lot of us have more ink than we can use! I am going to have to sell some ink to make room!
Thank you so much Heidi! I really wish Moleskine would change their paper because I love their covers--especially their special editions.
I always look forward to your videos! I really wish we had access to these cool items in the US. Thanks so much for sharing!
Thanks so much Pamela! I'm hoping as awareness grows, some companies will start importing stuff to make these available--like Shigure Inks.
It is so great to see you again. Great video again. I been wanting to see how to use the Tag inks. Thank you!
Thank you Kim! Those TAG inks are pretty wild.
Thank you! Super appreciated and lovely.
Thank you!💖
Apparently TH-cam REALLY wants me to ring that bell because I just had another week with no notification that you made a video.
I think that Nagasawa stamp pad won the most popular thing in the video award. Everyone seems to like it!
@@InkyRocks I guess it’s because most of us never thought of using our inks on stamp pad before :)
So much fun and great video!
Thank you so much!💕
Once again a stellar ✨ video. I'm trying to not get hooked on stamping. Seems like a natural progression for me to add to fountain pens addition.
Thank you! I hear you about the stamps--I used to be into it and then got out. Looks like I'm being dragged back in. But only for FP related stamps hahaha!
Lovely and informative as always! Thank you!
Thank you so much Stacy!
Great video! The Stamp pads were interesting. Can you wash out the pads to clean them?
I don't think so. I haven't tried though. Thanks Brian!
Each video is always surprising. I like the stationary items alot. Love IT ♥️♥️♥️💯♥️♥️♥️ !!!
Thank you so much! I was originally disappointed that it wasn't a "real" ink show, and then I got over it pretty quickly!
Every time I watch your videos I long to be in Japan. And what do I comment to you often? "You're so lucky!" LOL Thanks for another great video. Loved seeing all of the new things.
Thanks so much Trish! You need to put it on your bucket list as there are so many other interesting things here too!
It's too funny imagining the conversation where he continually reminds you to NOT use it in a fountain pen. 😂
hahaha! Story of my life!
Thank you!
Can you please provide a link for purchase? Can’t seem to find them online. Thanks!
@@jojo7ism You can look in the description box for some links. If what you are looking for is not there, I really don't know where you can get it outside of Japan.
“Do not put it in a fountain pen”, challenge accepted 😁. Great video, thank you for sharing.
hahaha! Thank you so much!
Love watching your vids from Japanese shows!
Thank you! Good to get the feedback as show videos can get boring.
I’m afraid I’d just invent a way to use ink for stamps. A very messy way… I have the Sakura inspired colors of the textured notepads and I love them! They are available in the US at Vanness. I don’t think they’ve got any “sandwiches” though! Another lovely video. Thank you!
Thank you! I hear you about messy. Which now may be my middle name...
It's impossible to comment on all those incredible new things (that purple made me swoon! Indeed it would be amazing fot artist, like me hehe!) but I have to admit I am intensely heart-eyed over all the new things... Thank you for giving us a glimpse into all the wonderful things ✨
Thank you! I admit, I'm a little too enamored of new shiny things too! I just tell myself I'm getting it for my video...
Another great video! Need to go to Japan ASAP!
Absolutely! Japan is still limiting people from coming in, but hopefully when the borders are more open, you can make it out here!
Those bottles with bamboo collars are beautiful. Opus88 should supply one of those bottles with their pens. 😅
Yes! That would be a great idea!
I love that you were advised "do not put it in a fountain pen", then do put it in. So rebellious. lololol
or stupid hahaha! Thanks for watching!
Very interesting items. Thoughtful comments about their usage.
Thanks so much!
@@InkyRocks You are welcome. How do I get on your instagram feed? I am having trouble doing so. Thank you.
@@andrewr5411 you need an IG account. Then just search for inky.rocks
@@InkyRocks Thank you...but that seems not to work. I can not see an inky.rocks. There's an inky_rocks but it is private.Same for inky rocks. So...
@@andrewr5411 Can you give me your IG account and I'll try to find you!
I want it all!
Me too!
Did you have a favorite Kamiterior paper? Do you think you will post your tests or make a video about them?
I really don't. If anything, I love their blotting paper (the pink one) and use it a lot. All their paper is great but more of a novelty item you would use in scrapbooking (like the "sandwich paper" or some of their vellum) They don't put out journals with specific paper with like, lines or dot grid, so it's not something I use everyday.
Thanks so much for the info! I was intrigued because you mentioned none of them bled or feathered.
Such a nice voice, and generous. Have a nice week
Bye
Thanks so much Sharon! You have a nice week too!
I'd love to go to one of these stationery conventions one day 😍
I hope you can make it out here one day, they do have a lot of them here!
Great video, thanks again! So much tempting stuff 😍👍❤️
Cheers, Klaus
PS :had to lol as you told that salesmans
Thank you so much! You KNEW I would, didn't you hahaha!
Excellent Video! Thanks! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find "Taiwan Ink Company" or "Big Purple Butterfly" anywhere on the Internet. Can you provide a link to any store/product page with this ink? Thanks again!
Thank you! I think your best bet is to check Eslite or TY Lee or Tools to Live By or any other Taiwan stationery store.
Great video
Thank you!
This was another beautiful video. I am not on instagram either😟but good luck to whomever wins! You give away great gifts! You are a very special lady. Loved the ink with the glue! And that you tried it
Thank you so much Ellani! Right now, that is what works to contact people, but maybe one day, I'll just do one on here. I used to do them always on here, but no one would claim their giveaway!
Wow: great haul! I love your reviews.
And what generous giveaway. The distractions of Instagram are more than I want in my life, though.
Thanks so much! I totally hear you. I leave my phone on airplane mode for most of the day! But I've had so many giveaways where the person doesn't contact me (I do a lot of giveaways) and I can't reach them on TH-cam.
Omg heckova giveaway! What a beautiful kit.
Glad you like it!
I think I would go broke if I lived in Japan.
I'm always in danger of that...
Ah thanks again for an amazing vid... Don't put this ink in a fountain pen - you know where this is going! LOL.
PS Do you do inktober at all?
Thank you! Story of my life--is there ANY way I can do that? No, I don't' do inktober.
So much fun💖💖💖
Cool giveaway 🌈🌈🌈
It is! Good Luck!
wow- quite the giveaway this time! its like a whole gift bag lol
I love shopping hahaha!
11:32 - still laughing! I would have done the same thing :-) But I can definitely see this ink used for art.
The TAG guys all think I'm weird. I think I'm going to use it in some of my scrapbooking so the glitter doesn't smear.
You are such a rebel :)
hahaha! I'm going to have to add that to my "about" page!
“Don’t use it in a fountain pen…” love your creative bent’. Not on fb or Instagram anymore. How about comments on this video?
The problem is, I don't have any way to contact the winner. There is no messaging on TH-cam, and people don't contact me when they win. I have a running pile of giveaways laying around my house! One so long, that the food (candy and tea) expired! I wish there was a better way.
Tag salesperson: do not put in fountain pens
Inky rocks fans: LOL
Another lovely video! chill vibes 🌿
hahaha! Thanks! It was inevitable that I would do it...

@@InkyRocks the Polynesia is only because in from Hawaii and just watched the video where you mention you're from Hawaii and Honolulu Pen Club. Aloha!!
@@keliipuuwai Yaaay another pen person from Hawaii! I still attend Honolulu Pen club meetings by Zoom!
@@InkyRocks that's awesome!! The page doesn't seem to be active anymore. But I'm brand new and would be very intimidated. Can't wait for your next video. I love watching your "show" videos; TIPS, Ink Ink Ink, Manila Pen Show, and your visits to stationery shops. Your videos are so informative.
@@keliipuuwai Thank you! I can put you in contact with them. It's basically about 8 people that talk about pens. Lately, it's all been on zoom because of Covid. They meet once a quarter.
🤣🤣🤣🤣So let me understand this "do not use in a fountain pen"; why did I think the next step was to use the ink in a fountain pen. Again I do so love the way stationary is done in Japan, always a theme that makes me want to run out and buy it. Good thing I do not live there.
I did not see it as a warning. I saw it as a challenge hahaha!
Great video and wow, what a great giveaway! Headed over to IG to enter!
Thank you! Good Luck!
