Wie viele NH-90-Benutzer festgestellt haben, gibt es 1. Treibstoffkosten und 2. Ersatzteilkosten. Der Betrieb des NH-90 kostet 30.000 Euro pro Stunde, da die Ersatzteile sehr teuer sind. Der etwas kleinere Blackhawk kostet ungefähr 4.500 Euro pro Flugstunde, da er weniger Wartung benötigt und die Teile weniger kosten. Ich habe das Gefühl, dass die Boeing Vertol möglicherweise billigere Teile hat, und dann ist es hauptsächlich eine Frage der Treibstoffkosten.

Why not leave the trees, in a few years they would've rotted, we see it in our area all the time.

In this particular case, the trees were removed from a landslide area that threatened a village - this made drainage work in the landslide area possible and prevents water from backing up. An other common reason for helicopter logging are bark beetles, which multiply extremely in too much dead wood and then threaten healthy trees.
