Funny how the fanboys are getting butthurt. Joe is completely right. This game has been the same shit ever for the past few years now. Just a different skin. Then, they add one small gimmick to each game. Last year? Companion dogs. This year? Exo suits. Next year? Dogs in exo suits probably.

I hate call of duty like the next guy, but I wish joe would stop fanboy bating. when talking about advance warfare's multiplayer aspect, he had to bring up how the war shooters he plays(basicly battlefield) is better. it kinda changes the review from being critical to being just a flame war starter. it's still joe, but I am starting to pick up on this tactic he has been executing in his videos. remember how he brought up xbox fanboys in his last of us review? he really diddint need to do that, but i'm sure it netted him more views.
I personally don't like it, it's his show so he can do what he wants, but it is something that's starting to bother me.

When he criticized the XBOX fanboys over The Last of Us, it was because they trash the game simply because they don't have it and they believe their console is master race. These fake reviews and opinions for a game they never played dilute the truth that the game was f*cking awesome. Here, it's to point out that CoD is the number one shooter in sales only because fanboys prop it up continuously. Other games, not just Battlefield, but war games and shooters in general, are making real, innovational changes. Not just tweaking multiplayer, reposting the plot line, and adding famous people.
Quil63 I get the reason why he did it, but still kinda weird he had to devote an entire sketch(gameplay, but still) to make fun of the fanboys(it also wassent very funny, but that's subjective). I felt that making a xbox fanboy joke should had appeared as a message behind him. it seemed that he added it in just to attract fanboys from both sides to have a hissy fit in the comments section, all while the video racks in views.
as for cod, it seems unfair that you would compare it to other games of a similar archetype. I get the meaning, and agree with it, but that should not be apart of reviewing the game on it's own merits. compare it to other games in the same series to show it's value as a sequel, but don't say "this game sucks, ones i play are better".
I remember angry joe being very good about this stuff, but it does seem apparent that he tries to appeal to fanboy bullshit now, which is somewhat of a shame.

+Decus Extinctum They only fucked up the entire map system; Balance and gameplay is pretty good, cool for friends to hang out and have some fun. It may have lacking content, but DICE right now is very unpredicitable. First, BF4: 3 New map packs, FREE FOR NON PREMIUM MEMBERS, Hardline with some weapons (yes, stupid game, but they're trying to help the non premium people and make them feel like they got more content back to make it worth $60, sadly they make it PAINFULLY Obvious)... You have to admit, those graphics look damn good

You know something I don't get about this game? The cutscenes.
The cutscenes in this game are trying to go for a photorealistic aesthetic. It's obvious they've poured millions of dollars into the animation software and motion capture to try and make them look as if they were real life. But of course the the technology can't get past that last jump into photorealism, so it falls into the creepy "the uncanny valley" effect.
Here's some advice for Activision: WHY NOT JUST MAKE THE CUT SCENES LIVE ACTION?
Seriously, hire some actors, put them in army costumes, film them with a camera, then use that footage as FMVs for the cutscenes. That way the cutscenes would be 100% photorealistic, and only for a fraction of the cost.

***** I'm guessing he knows what it is. Do you? Uncanny Valley is the weirdness of seeing simulations of humans that are close to the real thing but not close enough, like the japanese sex dolls and the CG humans in the films of Robert Zemeckis.
And yes, photorealistic CG of any videogame fits in the uncanny valley. The CG Spacey Joe showed is a prime example. The difference is that YOU are used to it so it's not strange to you anymore.

The Uncanny Valley is when something approaches photorealism, but doesn't quite nail it, and therefore sits in the "valley" between looking real and looking like a simulation. Therefore the effect comes off as being uncanny, and can trigger effects of revulsion and disconcertion in viewers.

Alot of the stuff they do would make it way more expensive to do in live action, and I think we've all agreed as gamers that live action cutscenes are fucking god awful. But yeah, the cutscenes look weird, and will look weird for awhile, they're developing the technology, but if they don't keep using the technology then they won't keep developing it and it will fall by the wayside so if you ask me it's for the best. Stylized art styles like from Zelda, Borderlands, etc, look less jarring and in some respects better but in time the photo-realistic stuff will look really good and it will be worth the weird looking stuff in between.
MARC OSS This is why WOW still looks great after all these years. No uncanny valley effect in good animation of cartoons. I'd rather play more of these games using a Borderlands effect or like that one Prince of Persia game than to try to simulate photo realism which uses up a ton of resources as well.

Here's the thing sheeple. The rant that you just watched from Joe was perfect. The story is too linear, still. The multiplayer is pretty horrid in terms of spawns, servers and lack of teamwork at all.
The thing is, you can't make an excuse by saying "You should have used this perk to avoid that" or "But Joe, you're forgetting that this gun/jetpack has this power".
No, you should not have to figure out which bonuses create the best scenario for anything. The multiplayer is extremely fucking random. And it's not also who pulls the trigger first, as Joe mentioned. It's who has the better internet. The countless times I've been killed after spotting an enemy, shooting first yet apparently on the kill cam, he saw me first. Which equated to dedicated servers once again..

I liked the story better than Ghost's story. One thing I would have like to see, is access to all of your abilities througout the game. There were times where you couldn't double jump in certain levels. The missions towards the end did allow you to have all your abilities and it felt really cool. It was also switched things up like making you unable to reload in one mission. I would have liked to see more of that.

I don't understand, how no one gives a shit, when games like God of War, Assassin's Creed, Halo, and Mortal Kombat etc. do the same thing with every release. But if it has Call of Duty for the title, everyone expects it to drastically change with every new release.

That means, you are buying a game, that optimizes a story that has merica' written all over it, too many explosions to be physically possible, solid and fun gunplay, short driving sequences to keep the action moving, almost always a working game with few glitches, and a slightly different story each time with a graphical update.
How do you want the game to change?

I've played them both. The graphics are better in the second one, the glitches that the first one had were ironed out, there was a new story, they added a new game mode to the campaign that added real-time strategy elements to widen the fanbase....

Aaron Adams well to be fair, AC black flag was almost a completely different game from the(in my opinion) failure that was AC3. It was also a nice change from all the marble cities and all that wonderful stuff from the previous AC games.

Cody Sellers Even Cod has exceptional games in its franchise. Most Cod fans agree that CoD 4 was the best (I personally liked Black Ops best, but that's beside the point.) The point is, that CoD isn't the worst game in the world. And in fact, it's comparably pretty good alongside other trippleA titles. But people give it shit because it's Cod. And I guess everyone is just SUPPOSED to hate CoD for some reason. While games like Destiny and Evolve, games that ACTUALLY DESERVE the kind of shit that people give the Call of Duty franchises, are swept under the rug, or even praised as being great games! +Kris I thought the humans were easy to spot. Most of the bots just sort of slowly lumbered around while human players were jumping all over the place while mostly spamming satchel charges. I liked Titanfall but I hated how I bought the game full price only to see it go down $20 a few months later and then the season pass was made free. Fun but disappointing.
A bunch of the dev for Titanfall were the same ppl that made Modern Warfare, and Advanced Warfare straight ripped the mechanic from Titanfall so... Inspiration would not be the correct word.

In my opinion BO2 was the only one worth my time. Mw3 was bland as hell. BO1 was awesome for the story but missed in zombies no multiplayer. MW2 was great. But BO2 was just a very well put together game.

in 45 years we will probably have exosceletons standardized in our military but we wont have the stuff that you see in the songleplayer of advanced warfare

ZOMBIES is not the reason sorry. Cod4 was the reason. For pc at least because there were servers. Seriours clan with websites and rules that were recruiting admins to control the game. After Mw2 and then Mw3 which was the same as Mw2. World at War was the first one I think that brought zombies. It was the first time that cod of duty sucked so much. Treyach never made a good coding. Instead of using the GPU, the game was lacking cause was using a lot of CPU. The game was uplayable. Same happen with black ops. and after that I never bought a game. The only games I enjoy so much was Cod4 and Mw2. and Now I bought Advance Warfare just for curiosity and I did the same mistake as when I bought black ops. The game is like playing in hack server on Mw2 which everyone allows to be jump higher and go faster. I agree with your second Fact though. I bought mw2 4 times even though there was so many other new call of duty. And for your third fact I think is not true because we are stupid. And for stupid I turn to the people that bought mw3 which at the end made me buy it beause most of the people left playing mw2 and decided to give money to play the same game just now called mw3.
Call of duty 1... back in the day don't remember the exact year but around 2002ish was one of the best games ever. I was hooked!
Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare was the last game that I got butterflies in my stomach whilst playing it... that first mission where you land on that ship. Fuck me that game was amazing.

I actually don't want COD to die... because unfortunately Activision has a new breed of leading dark horse for the entire gaming industry to mimic- they now have their god damn Destiny. and Destiny is true redundancy, at least COD despite not genuinely an innovative series, is a complete package at every itiration, COD never sold an imcomplete experience for players to grind for. Destiny from a marketing standpoit is a far, FAR more dangerous game for this community than any COD game ever was or will be.
I've not played it but everything I read made me feel like Destiny was going to be an empty shell of gameplay mechanics and a setting/game universe that they could sell you the content for later. Friends who bought it all seemed to get sick of it before the DLC has really started to come which isn't a good sign.

Black ops 1 so far had the best story out of all the CODS. Since the plot twist was you playing as a character who has multi personality disorder from all the torture. You as the player didn't know that the guy who was your partner is all in your head. That was fucking genius from Treyarch. Now they make bullshit storylines.

I have played BL and FC 3 and personally they weren't as good. I LOVED BL. One of the best games, but with COD I have made so many friends who I now know in real life, and have just had an experience that is so different than any other game. And compared to BF4 its just not as good.. at least on 360 (I know pc is beter) it looked bad, moved slow and didn't have strategy, it was just boring. So I find your coment invalide

I really dislike the final trailers and tv spots they release for these games. It just screams that "FUCK YEAH KILLING IS FUN!" mentality and I find that disturbing. War is not supposed to be fun it's supposed to send goosebumps down your spine. Even if it's in a videogame, the general atmosphere of war should be respected.

oh! I got an amazing idea! Make it a sandbox! Or just add in new and different features like that rts element in Black ops 2. But, I still like the idea of a sandbox call of duty...
An open world and like +FieldMarshal said, spend more time on the game polish. Make it feel complete, make the story longer giving people who play the game for the story feel like they got their money's worth, and most importantly, add that 3rd dimension. This is the hardest part, because I have know idea what they could do, but there must be someone at Activision who hasn't lost all the blood in their skull bashing their head against a wall, they could think of something if they just sat down and thought about it.
How about putting in a campaign co-op mode?
A mode that has been bog standard on other console shooters since at least 2001 ffs.
I would buy it just for that as i find it more fun playing through with friends.

There are a few games like that. Like in fallout 3 you can nuke a city(annoyance by it is motivation enough) I think in wasteland 2 you can make your squad a bunch of assholes too.
I meant like fps's because all fps's are you as an american hero. Really generic and boring. I've never played wasteland but now I'd like to. Also, even in fallout 3 you really couldnt be totally balls to the wall antagonistic. No matter what you did, you always purified the wastelands water, even if it had a killer agent for mutants and such.

What I like about this particular installment is the sound effects. Previous sequels all use the same sound effects. But here they have more punch and more depth. It's one thing that this game improves over the other games.

That's not the game doing that, it must have been Joe's recording because I played through it twice, once for my first time and the second for the achievements, and I never had lip sync issues. It was all spot on for me.

They will never do that for one simple reason. Limited guns and unlocks, how are they supposed to keep the skitterbox going if most of the combatants from that war used the same firearms from the beginning to end of the conflict (with a few exceptions, i.e Sturmguver 1944, Gwener 43, SVT-40 etc.)
Bird_iz_da_word It doesn't matter. In previous call of duty's some of the weapons were only prototypes. WW2 had Hundreds of weapons that were used in small numbers (or were prototypes). A load of killstreaks can be done too. Imagine calling in a Ju-87 diver bomber. Or even being a pilot of an attack plane such as the IŁ-2.

Aw did not do the movement system right in anyway. It was just an awful clusterfuck the whole time and was frustrating to play. Black ops 3 was done sooooo much better. Treyarch nailed it with the movement system, nobody should be complaining about it

I remember getting it for free together with my ps4 when I first bought it. I actually really liked it. Akimbo weapons were really good because everyone was jumping around. You could also try "trick shots" a lot because you could jump really high. Made me think of the MW2 days.
I don't get it, people always complain that CoD never changes and its always the same but then when AW was introduced with changes that adds verticality to the game people still complains that CoD is still the same game and even copying other fps like Titanfall all because you can double jump, so how do you people want CoD to change?
I can only speak for the single player but having the characters do actual banter and show personality so that the player can form some sort of connection would be nice. Like Joe said in the review, the main character's best friend is killed but the player gets so little time with him that there is no emotional connection. I thought they had just met until Kevin Spacey mentioned that I was so distraught over losing him. Giving us a villain that has some subtlety to his plans instead of going Dr. Evil would be good. It would actually make me go, "Gasp, what a twist" instead of "It's about time he told us he was evil". Changing the enemy animations so they look like they take damage instead of being bullet sponges that respawn until I move up and turn off their respawner would be a step in the right direction. I'll let someone else talk about how multiplayer can be improved.

We want levels to be less restrictive and give us more gameplay freedom. We are sick of the sp holding our hands like if we were 3-year-olds. Until cod does that it will feel the same no matter whether it takes place in the near future, during ww2 or in the fucking cavemen era. We want story to be less cliche. Just like Joe says, Kevin Spacey turning into an crazy evil warmonger was the most predictable and lame-ass thing to do. I thought it's gonna happen like this during watching the first trailer months ago! We wan't a story that can surprise us, but in a good way that feels believable and fresh.
Good question, the problem is that the game devs don't want to change it too much because they might risk losing their fan base "if it ain't broke...don't fix it". CoD is just a fat cash cow that brings in tons of money annually. I personally enjoyed the game but even I can tell that something needs to change...adding verticality simply isn't enough. I would like to see more stealth missions like in CoD 4 Modern Warfare, in other words they need to add less and focus more in details what made the original CoD's so great :)

IGN grades the game based on their own criteria. AngryJoe reviews games based on his own personal experiences of them. I wouldn't assume that activision is paying them off though. It's not as if IGN's reviews matter to them or something

Call of Duty Advanced Warfare in my opinion was pretty damn good. Sure the added jet packs weren't revolutionary, but they definitely shook things up. Sure the campaign wasn't heart wrenching but it was, even at its lowest points entertaining. The game is a more than decent, and the multiplayer is very enjoyable. I'm getting sick of all the use of hyperbole in the game reviewing franchise. It can't ever be a good game, either it's shit, or it's fantastic. Just looking down at the comment section and seeing CS Fans complaining about how it's not CS is enough to make you roll your eyes. Yet most people wont because they for some odd reason agree with these mouthbreathing fucktards.
But I lost faith in Angry Joe after his Metro Last Light review...
Too bad it copied Titanfall (which i don't play or like) and its just the same crap since the black ops games ( So standard CoD thing attach rails on the experiance and give you no clear backstory to make you interested in it, then pull shit where the main charcter's so called friend dies and your suppost to feel bad?, even tho you had no attatchment to him since he was drone number 12345563342 in the CoD recyclables department that you are suppost to be bro's with within minutes to maybe a few hours lol) the multiplayer is using peer to peer so that's crap and several other reasons i don't feel like listing suffice to say they should kill off CoD and make a new IP with hopefully major improvements.
I can't take your opinion seriously when you make yourself sound like a ranting 7 year old child, writing a comment between gasps for air. However I think you misunderstand my view, I never claimed for Advanced Warfare to be revolutionary or original. It is fun. A fun shooter. That is made clear by the amount of people that buy it, and the amount of people it attracts. Its by no means a bad game. I've played bad games, this is not one of them. Although it's no masterpiece it has definitely deserves being called at least, a decent game.
Keaton Sabas I couldn't have said any of this better myself, except for I still have faith in Joe lol But I understand your frustration. I really like AW as well; it just FEELS better than Ghosts and has a solid standing to me. My favs still go BO II, MW2, and WaW, but AW is by no means a bad CoD (like Ghosts lol)

This review really hits home for me. I know I'm super late to this one, I've already seen this review before but it only occured to me just now how numb i was to call of duty releases when i somehow discovered several call of duty games in my steam library and not even realizing that I had bought them at some time. Hell I'm still not even convinced I bought MW3 on PC after pawning it off so quickly after getting to lv50 in the only mode i found intersting: Survival.
MW1 was absolutely incredible and was what what brought me into the game. MW2 was absolutely great too. BO1 was somehow my fav along with COD5. Then MW3 came out and well...My opinion of the game wasn't even there. It wasn't as disapointing as it was like getting a flash bang to the face. Then the following Activision games kept coming and it was just getting more and more numbing. Like the game that used to mean something just became completely generic out of no where. It became a game tailored to those who were just short on time and wanted to blow off some steam after work of just to notch a few kills then bounce. There's nothing wrong with that at all. Instant gratification is something many of us need from time to time but it definitely wasn't enough of a reason to pay Triple A dollar for a new roster of guns.

CoD = A game designed for kids who don't understand the concept or have patience for strategy and teamwork and just want to have as many kills as possible.
BF = A game designed for adults who love to show off with impressive kills. Some strategy and teamwork supported.

CodPatrol Les Grossman and although the zombies mode was good, it wasn't amazing. kino der toten get kind of repetitive. and the zombies mode that you unlock in world at war after beating the campaign is better than the black ops zombies
