I don’t know anybody who thinks that this game is good, only people who might say that have played the mod for the game on PC. That game was made from the ground up and fixes pretty much every issue with the game. I recommend playing that for a comparison on just how much has changed it’s impressive
i wanna imagine the reason is because sonic is more experienced with reacting quickly. tails and knuckles don't go on as many adventures and they were probably more concerned about the fall than their abilities to escape the situation.
you know, everyone always talks about how bad the silver fight is, but nobody talks about how silver is just doing a good job at what he thinks he should be doing.
I love Shadow and Silver in this game. Shadow being shown that the world would basically turn on him for being too powerful, even his friends, but still doing what he thought was right. And Silver just trying to help the people from his world, doing what he could. Then finally knowing how to get rid of Iblis, but having to sacrifice Blaze for it. And then there’s Sonic.
@@garrettchandler1948 what I find funny I played through 06 and never had any issues besides bad music and plot choices. Then I replayed the game couple years later to see why the hate and right away I fall through the floor and then the bugs came rolling in then I seen what everyone else seen. Then decided to try missions only to learn I load just to talk Then load back to load again into a mission 🤣 who ok'd this game?
The whole time I was watching Choc struggle with the ball puzzle, I'm both happy and sad that no one told him you can completely skip it by clipping through the door LMAO
Mephiles really got the short end of the stick being introduced in this game. He's probably one of the better parts of it, but because it's '06, he's likely never going to appear again.
It has more to do with his story not working outside of 06, his whole motivation is to be reunited with Iblis to complete Solaris, he only really works has a one-time villain. Cause take in mind, he is extremely popular despite the game, and Silver despite receiving negative reception did managed to come back on future titles cause his background is more flexible, it also improved his character.
I love how he slowly comes to understand the full extent of the game's horrendous quality. First there's the beginning parts of wave ocean, then there's the mach speed section, then the silver fight, and so on. It just hits harder and harder as you go.
Eggman: "how many times are you gonna run? Ive captured you 17 different times" Elise: "I feel like it's gonna be at least 18." Eggman: "....." (cast laughing really hard) Eggman: "the caucasity of this bitch.."
oh, this reminds me of a line in "Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart": at the end of the first level, Dr Nefarious says he's going to Annihilate them. Ratchet says, "how many times have we heard THAT before?" and Nefarious says "probably around EIGHTY."
@@Tyler-wx8bx oh, that reminds me: there's a music group called "imagine dragons", and one of their songs. "I'm so sorry" was the inspiration for "Kai's Theme" in Kung Fu Panda 3.
List of things Choctopus liked about Sonic 06: The Well animated cutsences The hilarious deaths Driving the monster truck as Shadow Fighting as Sliver Grinding as Omega The Rouge high jump glitch Eggman falling out of the egg-wyrn Sliver trying to bash Shadow over the head with a chaos emerald
“A lot can really be learned from this game. It has it all: weird camera, uncontrollable speed, really slow parts, and even frequent glitches to keep things spicy! The plentiful loading screens have taught me the meaning of true patience, and coupled with the near constant dying for unavoidable (and often unpredictable) reasons, I am able to really contemplate my own mortality, and how life is just a loading screen to run towards inevitable death. Because we will all die, it's only a matter of time till we get hit by an off screen projectile, trapped in a loop of injury, or by falling through the floor. Truly, Sonic '06 is all the evidence one needs to see that video games have transcended their lowly beginnings to become a form of high art.” -Oryx Blibble’s 5 star Amazon review
That was more or less my experience minus the sarcasm. Coming up with bizarre ways to overcome the Glitches actually made for a bizarrely fun game. And the story was cool too. Me and brother even played multi-player despite Silver being able to freeze you for the entire match if you just hold the character and run for the finish line.
One of my gripes with Sonic '06, outside of gameplay, graphics, animation, and overall quality, is that the story always feels like a "but then" story that a child comes up with when they're playing with their toys. Like "the bad guy is defeated, but then ___" and it keeps on going. Whenever the story feels like it's going to end, some bullsh!t happens to keep the story running.
I think FNaF Security Breach is like this. Go get A. You get A, but oh no! A doesn't work so, go get B! You get B, but oh no! B doesn't work, so go get..
I wouldn't mind that so much if the but thens weren't "but then Elise gets kidnapped!" like four times in a row, and you have to watch each one from three different perspectives. People rag on Peach but you know, she gets kidnapped exactly once in any given game, the only time Elise isn't being kidnapped is when she's being rescued from the last kidnapping.
I always love it when sonic team does something super dramatic to sonic only for the problem to be abolished pretty quickly. Dropped out into space? Fake emerald Deus ex machina. Shot through the heart? Friends bring him back DBZ style in the same hour. Thrown in prison and tortured? Breaks out and is completely unscathed by the second level after he was captured. Trapped between dimensions and is completely frozen? Power of friendship saves the day like, 5 minutes later.
Meeehhhh only because the game before broke Shadow. If you ask me, they should have kept OG Shadow from Adventure dead, and have had the post SA2 Shadow be an Android. It could be kinda like King in Tekken since the original King is killed between Tekken 2 and 3, and the King who shows up to the Iron Fist tournament was someone inspired by him.
@@ragnarockerbunny i think having the real Shadow be saved by Eggman after SA2 just gives the Dr. a way more human side to his character and a Android is just not Shadow. Like what would it have done with the story besides having a generic passing of the torch kind of thing? Things like a second King or Armor King are essentially just part of Tekken's DNA in a sense as the story needs stakes but wants to provide the player with the same play style for the next game. I think the growth from Shadow's insomnia arc to his morally confused journey in ShTH into his Sonic 06 story where he truly showed his transformation from a villain/antihero that only fights for vengeance and the past into the hero who fights for the things he believes in no matter what happens. 06 is honestly a fitting end for Shadow as a character in the story in my opinion and i'm fine if he only has a few short appearances then and there if Sonic Team treats him with respect that is. But i heard that they want to use him more often again since he will be the main focus of the 3rd movie and i could actually see that they redeem his character just like they did with Knuckles.
@@rannynihilius8481 shadow deserves better... I mean come on in the april fools game The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog Shadow is portrayed way better... I mean cmon. The thing that bugs me really is I feel this had the potential to be a REALLY great game! Especially seeing that Sonic p-06 fan project, but not just in the gameplay. If they trimmed the fat on missions, made the hub world smaller and more engaging, spent more time on the story and thinking through the implications, and focused things more on Sonic himself I think it really could have been amazing.
Many people love this game is because it was the last game to get the characters right. Shadow is not overly edgy and actually has a heart. Silver is an interesting character and seeing shadow out of all people guides him to be a better character is a treat. And it was the last game that Sonic Team took the story seriously
@@zomebody5529 there is hope with the recent appearance of Shadow in Murder of Sonic and Sonic Prime. I'm very excited to see what they have in store for him in future mainline games and the Sonic 3 movie
The reason I like this game is because it has this "so awful it's funny" factor to it, it's frustrating but I have found myself snorting at the many glitches and awkward cutscenes in this game The association of the fandub also helps
Also that bar in the bottom right used for Silver/Shadow wasn't coded properly for Sonic (besides when holding Elise) so you can spam the gems as much as you want.
I'll never get over how the dev team split up to make Sonic and the Secret Rings, the one that's basically an auto-runner. And yet the team that had to stay and make Sonic 06 felt the need to add auto-runner segments within stages. And they ended up being the worst segments of those stages.
There's a really good write-up about the development of 06 out there by Andrea Ritsu. The development team actually got cut in half twice, had to focus on an E3 demo which was on a different build of the game and lost their progress, then make the game for different consoles than originally planned, try and meet crazy deadlines and all sorts of shenanigans. Sega seems like a terrible publisher to be honest, similar things are still happening now with Frontiers. If the game had the manpower and the time behind it, a bunch of the crap parts of this had the potential to be fun. The mach speed segments are basically an early prototype for what would become Boost gameplay after all
@@KeanineI mean, I have heard that the level design is apparently really good. It's just that they didn't have the time or resources required to actually finish the game properly. There have absolutely been cases where they have just made Sonic games with downright bad game design. (As much as I do enjoy Lost world, specifically the 3DS version since I don't have a Wii U, there are absolutely several levels that I downright DESPISE. And I NOT going to deny that Lost World has a lot of flaws, but I also feel like it had some pretty decent ideas that could be expanded on. Parkour could absolutely be used again in a future Sonic game, just reworked from the ground up in order to better suit a Sonic game)... So why do people constabtly bring up 06 as an example to how Sonic Team is "oh so incompetent" even though 06 was moreso just the result of a stupid deadline and multiple dev cuts. Forces at least makes sense as an an example for that since it obviously just had bad game design (aswell as bad level design), but 06 seemingly had a lot of potential that was just never fully utilized due to a complete lack of time and resources. (I havn't actually played 06 myself, btw... So do take anything I say with a grain of salt since its only based on what I've heard... I do kinda wanna get a PS3 copy at some point though, seems like the kind of unpolished and downright buggy game that you could have a good laugh over in a call/voice chat with someone else) Sorry, that was long... TLDR: The developers aren't even the ones who were all that incompetent when it comes to Sonic 06, and if you're gonna blame anyone, blame the higher ups for not taking into account that it's a really stupid idea to give a dev team a deadline that's already too short, and then move half of the developers over to a different game halfway through development... without extending said deadline.
@@riskyworks Yeah exactly, obviously we can't know for sure if the devs had blame in it too as Sega never gave them the time of day on any of the older games, but we know that every 3D Sonic game had a tight schedule and a rocky development If you have a PC I would recommend playing Project 06. It's not funny to play like the original, but it is really fun and lets you see the potential of the level design if it had decent movement and was far less buggy
@ I do have a PC, but I doubt it's good enough to run it. Maybe I'll try it someday, though. I mean, I have heard great things about Project 06... Oh well. Anyhow, I hope you have an amazing day.
(12:13) the best strategy I learned from playing this fight as a kid was to wait until silver said: "how about this?!". At this point of time silver picks up some objects and won't use his psychokinesis on sonic. This is the time where I would use the slide move on silver and get out, because the homing attack keeps you locked on to silver so as soon as you attack silver with it you're likely to get caught. Also silver becomes invulnerable as soon as you hit him, so the best choice is to use the slide to hit him and slide away until the cycle repeats itself.
i have a few reasons why i love this game, hear me out. 1) the character models: i feel that the characters look more mature and less cartoon-y and childish here. they look like heroes who are out here saving princesses from villains and stopping mass destruction, and i dig it. 2) the nostalgia: i played this game for the first time when i was 4 years old and it was a great way to bond with my dad. sure, it had its flaws, but so did almost every game on the xbox 360, and i just appreciated running around super fast and following the crazy story. 3) the soundtrack: his world is easily my favourite song from any sonic game, well, ever. not to mention that the music during the boss battles got me pumped! the music single-handedly saved this game and i will die on that hill.
@@okok-tf8rr trying to defend sonic 06 gameplay to people who don’t want to listen, or will just strongly disagree with me anyway, is pointless. plus, it goes without saying that sonic 06 didn’t have great gameplay design. that doesn’t mean i can’t enjoy other aspects of it. i loved the story, the music, the world building, the introduction to silver’s character, etc.
@@kirin1230Besides, didn't 06 have actual good level design (at least most of the time)... Just that the bugs and controls make it hard to see said good level design... But yeah, from what I've seen of 06, it does seem to have some pretty bad "game design", but the level design is apparently good enough as to where a remake could actually be genuinely good. They'd just have to rewrite some of the story, obviously while leaving it intact. The whole Elise issue could probably be changed so that they have a more platonic relationship. They could still have become closs enough friends for her to cry when Sonic died... Just get rid of the kiss, because that's just weird. The story probably wouldn't ever be "perfect" since they'd still need to keep it intact, but perhaps some polish could make it a fair bit better. Aswell as adding actual good voice acting (Though, a remake would most likely make them redo the voice acting anyways... Besides, voice actors have gotten much better since then, so improvements to the voice acting would probably just be par for the course). Though, I'm not a game developer or anything, so do take what I say with a grain of salt, I'm well aware that it's not quite that simple. What I mean is just that there are a lot of things that a remake could improve upon. Besides, I'd imagine that a lot of people would be interested in trying a version of a game that is notorious for being shitty, that's actually genuinely enjoyable. Anyhow, I hope you have an amazing day!

It is canonical that Amy has fortune telling powers, the ability to summon the Piko Piko hammer from thin air at any time, and that she has limited invisibility
Is there any other time where she has invisibility outside of this game? Because in that case, I’d say it’s more likely that they just added that as a game mechanic and shouldn’t be taken as canon.
This game is so nostalgic for me, I remember playing it when I was like 6 years old. I forgot what sonic game it was exactly but then I found this and the memories came flooding back. I remember loving the aesthetic of some of the stages
I remember years ago a friend and I saw the Game Grumps riffing on Sonic 06 and thought it'd be fun to play through it together and see if we could find any cool glitches or additional things to make fun of. We ended up quitting halfway through Sonic's story because the game's controls and bland, lifeless presentation killed our enjoyment entirely. I like seeing reactions to this game far more than actually playing it.
Well to be more specific, after splitting the team between 06 and Secret Rings they split again when Naka left some time later taking his people with him and then they split again to develop the 360 version of the game while the Ps3 version was the "main" one despite the team having tons of problems to develop for Ps3 and the improved 360 version was discarded to prioritize the ps3 version aka: managing to make it boot

@@TheSlonk Yes, yes it is. After he finishes a game, he usually makes a new video which is all of them put together, such as with his Crash Bandicoot 4 series.
7:40 oh, he forgot to mention, the game does NOT have an Autosave, so if you didn't manually save before starting the first "act mission" (yes, that's really what the non-town areas are called) then running out of lives in the first level forces you to start ALL over from the FIRST cutscene! edit: oh, and he also skipped the loading screens... i saw a video by "Charriii5" where he COUNTED them: 465. 465! and that's IF you did everything PERFECTLY! and they last almost TWO HOURS altogether!
I've never played 06 before. I'd like to so I can experience it fir myself, but it's baffling at how atrocious the save system is. The woest part about it is that this game came oyt in 2006. Sonic 3 on the genesis came out 12 years prior and had an autosave feature. What's 06's excuse. Not only that, but there are way too many unessicary loading screens and they're all way too long. Imagine playing a game where you have to sit and wait for a total of two hours for something to happen. That's like watching a movie where there's a couples minutes of nothing in between scenes.
I was so excited as a kid when this came out I absolutely love sonic. I couldn't get past the first hour of the game I got stuck in the city where it drops you off i couldnt get the ring boost to work no matter what. I actually thought the game was unbeatable cause I didn't have the internet or anything so I just put it on the shelf I actually still own all my old games including that one. Honestly still kinda blows my mind there's a whole game there
Only legends get these references: "HAHA HA ONE 👆" "My name is Memphis Tennessee, and I'm part lizard." "Well it was a whole dream, bye!" "Count how many sand is here, Omega."
I can't even fathom how anyone is willing to defend this game on the basis on nostalgia. This was my first or second Sonic game and even as a kid I knew it was horrible. I had no fun because it was borderline unplayable. I didn't have enough experience playing games to call this a "bad game" when I was that young but the fact that I spent over 20 hours trying to get through the first level but couldn't because of the horrible load times, unclear saving mechanics, disgusting controls, and almost non-existent instructions made my younger self so frustrated. I didn't know then that it was a bad game but with several years more experience, it is so easy to look back and definitively call it bad. I hate this game.
In a lot of cases with Sonic games even if they aren't exactly great they aren't exactly terrible either, it's just subjective whether a person will like them. Not this game though, this game is objectively terrible on every level besides the soundtrack and the CG cutscenes. Love or hate the Adventure games or even something like Forces, those games don't break on a whim, have ridiculously long load screens, waste your time like searching for the captain, feature an overly large hub world that adds absolutely nothing to the experience or require a massive fan overhaul to make them properly functional. Sonic 06 truly is one of the highest profile objective failures in the history of the medium on just about every level. Only other things that I can say reach this abysmal lack of quality from such a big name are the Avengers game and maybe Cyberpunk 2077 on the older consoles.
I'm the exact opposite. When I was a kid, I played this game like crazy, and when I was 6, I couldn't get past the first level, (because I was so young and trash), and I tried it again when I was 10 and beat 2 stories out of 3. And, while I raged a LOT, I still loved the game, besides, the story is pretty cool, even with it's flaws. They could remake the game, where they could tweak the story, fix bugs, make it look better, etc.
I absolutely love this game with all my heart. I understand that it's an absolutely terrible unfinished mess, but I played this game every day after coming home from elementary school and I have so much nostalgia for it
I went back and started replaying this game and OH MY WORD IS IT A PIECE OF CRAP. Would suggest checking out speedruns of this game though, utterly amazing that someone can beat Sonic chapter in 13 mins or so.
44:38 one of the hardest sonic 06 glitches in the game to preform I’ve be replaying sonic 06 for years and haven’t mastered it yet. It takes major precious timing gg on that. It helps skip a lot in the stage
When you think about it, Eggman is almost always trying to revive and control gods for world domination. Chaos, Dark Gaia, Solaris to name a few... and it always backfires on him xD
Sonic 06 is definitely the most game of all time. The story and the characters were written by writers, the animations were animated by very animators and the gameplay was developed. 1st game to sell a sonicO6illion copies.

an interesting fact about this game, it was actually supposed to feature the speed boost ability we would see in the future. I have a suspicion that the high speed segments were designed with the ability in mind but since they couldn't finish the ability they default to just having sonic always running faster the usual which results in uncontrollability.
Unfortunately, not that’s not true. It was never intended to have the boost tied to a button, he simply accelerates to a point where he can blast through enemies. But I understand how you got that idea, it’s sensible.
The mini gem can allow Sonic to jump endlessly. It makes no sense, but it can be used to sequence break entire levels, along with the gem that you throw and he jumps to Shadow's Chaos Spear iirc has a minor AoE that stuns enemies Silver's stomp attack has an AoE that stuns most smaller enemies (which then is an insta-kill for them as they can be used as projectiles) and I believe a couple stomp attacks can do the same to some larger enemies Also with Silver, prior to getting the teleport dash, if you rapidly tap the hover button, Silver will travel the same if not longer distance than just holding it while conserving more mana or whatever. It works the same as with Teleport Dash but just a bit more finicky Also, if you stand on top of a metal box with Sonic and do the spin kick, you'll send the box into the air... with you on it. This can be used to bypass the skybox into the death zone, but also to break some levels platforming
9:25 : I've just come this far, but since you're asking and I do love this game, I'm posting my argumentation right now. - First of all, I don't consider it a good game on the technical side ^^. So don't worry about that xD! But the technical side was never the strong part of Sonic games, so yes, Sonic 06 is more broken than any previous Sonic game, but as long as we go fast and have fun, that's still a Sonic experience. And boy does Sonic go fast in this game. The Spin Dash goes fast, the scripted scenes go fast, and some levels even have "super-speed parts". Sure, the controls are lacking in those sections, or even hellish ; but they're among the best scenes Sonic had ever offered us back then. I mean, look at the Kingdom Valley high-speed part and dare say that it doesn't look freaking awesome. - The game lets us control 9 characters, each with its own gameplay. That's much better than even Sonic Adventure 2, where we have as much people but each pair of character has the same gameplay (Tails and Eggman have the same gameplay, Sonic and Shadow too, and so on). Even simple characters like Amy werea great to play as, since she uses her hammer. Of course, all these characters had technical issues, especially Tails' stupid aiming system. But once you get used to these issues, it's awesome to fly as Tails or use telekinesy with Silver. - The story was excellent, for a Sonic game and even for a game overall. People keep complaining about Elise and Sonic's kiss, and yes, that's weird, but that's ONE second in the whole game. Meanwhile, this game gave us Silver, which is a rip-off of Trunks, sure, but Trunks' story is great, thus, Silver's is too. It also gave Mephiles, one of the best vilains in Sonic, as its resemblance to Shadow is a captivating mystery and it's powerful enough to succeed his plan to rip space-time. As for Elise, the fact that she keeps getting kidnapped is annoying, but she also has a nice backstory, where Iblis' Flame was sealed into her by her father (a la Naruto). And of course, like Sonic Adventure games, the story is divided in multiple scenarios, which converge towards the Final Episode, which is freaking _epic._ We get to use each of the 8 characters in a single level (or just 7), in order to save Sonic's life, so _he_ can defeat Solaris, the litteral God that broke Space-Time. Aside from Adventure 2 and Frontiers, what Sonic game gave us a plot this complex and epic? *None.* - The levels are great in this game. The gameplay issues make them all frustrating, but I still remember fondly of each sequence of this game. The bubble-sliding in the Aquatic Base, the train chase in Radical Train, all the levels in the apocalyptic future, many of them were fun despite all the bugs and broken mechanics, to the point that I was sad they weren't all available in multiplayer. - The gems allowed Sonic to have various gameplay elements. Being able to summon a shield was a nice improvement compared to previous games, where the shield had to be taken from the boxes on the ground. The Tornado was epic to use in fights. There's a couple of broken gems of course, but the non-broken ones were all nice to use. - The freaking music, man! His World had been my favourite song for _years._ - The cutscenes (the cinematic ones, not the in-game ones) are among the best I've ever seen in a videogame. In fact, sometimes I'd spend half an hour just watching my favourite cutscenes before actually playing the game. I mean, watch the final cutscene of Sonic's story and dare say that this isn't one of the best things Sonic has ever shown us. Sonic 06 is a terrible game on the technical side. But there's much more to it than that. And there were definitely issues there as well (I hated some of the missions the game would force us to do in the overworld), but I'd play the broken mess that is Sonic 06 over Sonic Colors anytime. Because at least Sonic 06 feels like a Sonic game. EDIT : I'll just add one more thing after watching the full video. There's no offense in what I'll say, but honestly, as much as the game has technical flaws, you've also just been very bad at it overall. - I haven't seen you make a single Spin Dash with Sonic. - You've barely used the gems. - You've realized Silver's Super-Hero Landing is powerful in its very last stage only. Of course Silver's levels would feel bad if you keep pressing A for each enemy. The levels are designed so you use the techniques you've just unlocked. - A lot of times when you complain about game design or game mechanics, you're just being terrible at it. I mean, the balls section? It's a simple billboard minigame. You not only took a lot of time realizing the countdown was about the number of hit you inflicted, you also kept falling into the same corners even though it kept making you lose. - Same for the high-speed sections. As soon as you realize you have no control when jumping, you should know the key is putting Sonic in the right direction before jumping. Don't get me wrong though, the controls _are_ terrible and stiff, but you can definitely work around it easily. In fact, the entire section is about pressing A with the right timing. - You also didn't realize you could fly longer with Silver and Omega by pressing A several times in a row instead of keeping it pressed. You lost multiple times because of it. Sure, it's stupid how it works, but it does work. - Silver's Teleport Dash is actually useful in the last stage, to get away from Black Holes. It also makes you go faster on up-slopes. Again, Sonic 06 is a bad game with a lot of technical issues. But you've also been very bad at it.
the idea of "as bittersweet as it may be, undoing everything is the only way to fix the world" could be such a cool and interesting ending to a game. It's only not cool because the rest of the game is Sonic 06
22:50 It just so happens I read the fan wiki for the chaos emeralds today out of curiosity, so I can tell you what the fuck is going on when a chaos emerald is used Basically, they work based on thoughts, them saying chaos control probably isn't doing much, maybe it helps them on some psychological level, but really you only need to think what you want them to do, and in some games it's shown you don't even have to hold the emerald, it can be done from a distance, seemingly as long as you can see the emerald. Sonic lore is wierd but basically yeah they don't need an instruction manual, any idiot can use a chaos emerald
1:33:35 "It's completely useless" BRUH that's Silver's most useful attack in the whole game. If you never use it, you will have to resort to throw boxes all the time lmao
oh, what Choc said about Amy being a "damsel" reminded me of a comic book i saw recently: Sonic and a bunch of his friends are fighting a big battle. a giant robot tries to hit Sonic with a giant hammer. someone (i think it was Blaze) blasts the robot's hand, making it drop the hammer right next to Amy. she makes a silly face (REALLY big eyes), looks at her usual hammer, then puts it away and yells, "Silver! give me a boost!" then the two of them smash the robot's head in with the giant hammer! *PICO* then SIlver looks surprised and says, "you did most of that! how..." and Sonic says "Cuz' she's AWESOME!" and gives Amy a High Five!

Truly, Sonic '06 is all the evidence one needs to see that video games have transcended their lowly beginnings to become a form of high art.”

woah just by reading that i learn something about that game
That person really had a whole character arc over Sonic 06.
@Yousef I will say that the Sonic 2 movie is better...
at the thirty minute mark i was like "man this story seems complete enough" only to realize i still had an hour and a half more to watch...
Yeah but… every story in a Sonic game is sophomoric. I would argue that Sonic 06 is at least entertaining because of how bananas it is.
Except they kinda retconned the last one thanks to The Final Horizon DLC.

I love how Shadow is the one character 06 actually kind of fixed
And he never was the same 😭
Meeehhhh only because the game before broke Shadow.

The fandub is burned into my brain 😂
I guess you didn't realise, but using the Purple gem, the one that changes your size, you can jump infinitely. That's how unfinished the game is :)
if you use the teleportation gem in the "New City" you can also phase through most of the buildings
Also that bar in the bottom right used for Silver/Shadow wasn't coded properly for Sonic (besides when holding Elise) so you can spam the gems as much as you want.
I was laughing at his expense during that part. The poor guy bought the best upgrade and didn't know how to use it.
I know this one. I used it to skip the ball puzzle in aquatic base.
What I this game was unfinished? I didn’t know entire time
I'll never get over how the dev team split up to make Sonic and the Secret Rings, the one that's basically an auto-runner.
I do kinda wanna get a PS3 copy at some point though, seems like the kind of unpolished and downright buggy game that you could have a good laugh over in a call/voice chat with someone else)
Sorry, that was long...
@@riskyworks Yeah exactly, obviously we can't know for sure if the devs had blame in it too as Sega never gave them the time of day on any of the older games, but we know that every 3D Sonic game had a tight schedule and a rocky development
If you have a PC I would recommend playing Project 06. It's not funny to play like the original, but it is really fun and lets you see the potential of the level design if it had decent movement and was far less buggy
@ I do have a PC, but I doubt it's good enough to run it. Maybe I'll try it someday, though. I mean, I have heard great things about Project 06... Oh well.

Now who wants to watch Choc play the multiplayer mode in 06 and suffer when he doesn’t pick Silver

i have a few reasons why i love this game, hear me out.

I actually thought the game was unbeatable cause I didn't have the internet or anything so I just put it on the shelf I actually still own all my old games including that one. Honestly still kinda blows my mind there's a whole game there
Only legends get these references:
"HAHA HA ONE 👆"
"My name is Memphis Tennessee, and I'm part lizard."
"Well it was a whole dream, bye!"
"Count how many sand is here, Omega."
I love this game lmao hate me all you want
I'm the exact opposite. When I was a kid, I played this game like crazy, and when I was 6, I couldn't get past the first level, (because I was so young and trash), and I tried it again when I was 10 and beat 2 stories out of 3. And, while I raged a LOT, I still loved the game, besides, the story is pretty cool, even with it's flaws. They could remake the game, where they could tweak the story, fix bugs, make it look better, etc.
@@socxs_ I agree with you, I do, too.

It's crazy that I played this game before I could read and I remember so much of it. I guess no one can forget this masterpiece 😂

Honestly the best thing to come out of Sonic 06 was Snapcube's fandub of it.
nah the music comes first, then snapcube 😂
I said the same thing lol, 100% agree
His World goated too
Snapcube sucks as much as the game itself so it makes sense.

Sonic 06 has _at least one_ redeeming quality: there can't be anything worse.
Not for lack of trying. I'd say the GBA port of Sonic 1 for Genesis, Shadow The Hedgehog and Sonic Free Riders for Kinect all come real close.

an interesting fact about this game, it was actually supposed to feature the speed boost ability we would see in the future.
It makes no sense, but it can be used to sequence break entire levels, along with the gem that you throw and he jumps to
Shadow's Chaos Spear iirc has a minor AoE that stuns enemies
Silver's stomp attack has an AoE that stuns most smaller enemies (which then is an insta-kill for them as they can be used as projectiles) and I believe a couple stomp attacks can do the same to some larger enemies
Also with Silver, prior to getting the teleport dash, if you rapidly tap the hover button, Silver will travel the same if not longer distance than just holding it while conserving more mana or whatever. It works the same as with Teleport Dash but just a bit more finicky
Also, if you stand on top of a metal box with Sonic and do the spin kick, you'll send the box into the air... with you on it.
*None.*
- The levels are great in this game.
His World had been my favourite song for _years._
- The cutscenes (the cinematic ones, not the in-game ones) are among the best I've ever seen in a videogame.
22:50 It just so happens I read the fan wiki for the chaos emeralds today out of curiosity, so I can tell you what the fuck is going on when a chaos emerald is used
Basically, they work based on thoughts, them saying chaos control probably isn't doing much, maybe it helps them on some psychological level, but really you only need to think what you want them to do, and in some games it's shown you don't even have to hold the emerald, it can be done from a distance, seemingly as long as you can see the emerald. Sonic lore is wierd but basically yeah they don't need an instruction manual, any idiot can use a chaos emerald
1:33:35 "It's completely useless"
BRUH that's Silver's most useful attack in the whole game. If you never use it, you will have to resort to throw boxes all the time lmao
''There is no other team shadow character they can use''
Sad omega noises
he also got weapons sega was like "nah fuck omega"
oh, what Choc said about Amy being a "damsel" reminded me of a comic book i saw recently:
Sonic and a bunch of his friends are fighting a big battle.
a giant robot tries to hit Sonic with a giant hammer.
someone (i think it was Blaze) blasts the robot's hand, making it drop the hammer right next to Amy.
she makes a silly face (REALLY big eyes), looks at her usual hammer, then puts it away and yells, "Silver! give me a boost!"
then the two of them smash the robot's head in with the giant hammer!
*PICO*
then SIlver looks surprised and says, "you did most of that! how..."
and Sonic says "Cuz' she's AWESOME!" and gives Amy a High Five!
"We're fighting silver now, who might be the only redeeming quality of this game."
Famous last words
I really want Choc to play Sonic Generations to get the taste of 06 out of his mouth.
Has he played Generations off camera at all?

Omg, what you said about Shadow at 0:45:30 is probably the biggest sin spoken about Sonic-canon ever 😂
Shadow is the only character in the whole series who has a pretty extensive, and quite messed up, backstory!
Sonic's train level becoming Rainbow Road and shadow spawning on top of his glider are glitches I've never seen and I love breaking this game.
