If he was going to put Emeralds in his machines, one of them ought to have dropped the Red Emerald if he had it.
90% of the time Sonic games assume you got the emeralds before the final story. The only games that bother showing them obtaining the emeralds are the adventure games, this one and unleashed. I don't think they expected us to question why they have all of them.

I think I just realised why the load screens are so long, and why they're everywhere in between dialogue boxes. I think the game actually despawns everything and reloads the ENTIRE hub world every time there's a scene change. Instead of, like, just despawning the relevant things and moving them around.
Pretty much. It's loading in everything in stages too, like In Flame Core as Sonic and Shadow, it'll also load in the segment for Silver too, even though it doesn't need to since the others shouldn't be able to reach it.
Something I read said its actually worse than that. While yes, the game rebuilds the world from scratch every load screen, it is also reading *all of the game files* front to back to find the ones it needs. Every load screen. Thats also why the load screens always take the same amount of time. Because the game doesn't continue until it has checked EVERY SINGLE FILE to make sure it has loaded everything being called for the current level/scene.

I think you misunderstood the whole "If you have time to worry, then run!" advice from Sonic. It's not really a metaphor for evading your problems; he actually meant taking action instead of worrying. Because he's Sonic, he used running as an example of taking action, since that's literally how he solves his problems (as you yourself pointed out when he took action by running). That's the only critique I have, of course. This video is pure gold. Keep doing God's work.

This game's story is a great example of how messy a time travel storyline can get. Especially if the rules are the typical style where characters have freedom to affect the timeline however they want.

So let me get this straight, Elise crys when Sonic gets killed by Mephiles, but she never cried ONCE when she realized her own father died?! Wow Elise..... 😒
Missed sin: the dark blue Chaos Emerald’s existence. It starts with Elise, and she throws it to Sonic when getting kidnapped. Sonic gives it to Eggman just before the mad Doctor sends them to the future. Eggman puts it in the Egg Genesis, which Silver takes it from after destroying it. Silver uses it to use Chaos Control with Shadow, opening a portal to 10 years in the past. Before returning to Shadow’s time, Silver gives the Emerald to Young Elise as a good luck charm. Elise presumably holds onto it until the Sun Festival Eggman attacks, where she throws it to Sonic. Not only should it be impossible for Elise to have the Emerald while the other games take place, it’s impossible for the Emerald to EXIST outside that 10 year time frame as it’s stuck in a time loop.
To be fair, he didnt sin the fact that the light blue and the green are from the future, meaning there is past versions of them in the present time.....until Iblis distorts space and time. making 9 emeralds currently existing during the story (not counting the extra dark blue he mentions since its stuck in a time loop)

@@kylecampbell565 that is a problem i see among critiques: the critics tend to use their own knowledge when criticizing a characters actions. try to see what the character knows, and how he/she was molded to think. in silvers time, light is probably associated with evil, and dark is the opposite of light, hence, someone associated with darkness has to be a good guy. there is also the prior suggestion of desperation trumping common sense. some people are willing to believe anything if the situation is desperate enough, so we cannot really blame him for that. maybe if the game did a better job at conveying all of this, it would be easier to understand. as it is now, we have to read between the lines

In Silver's defence, he was in a pretty desperate situation when it comes to saving the future. Also he is in an apocalyptic world with no parents or family to tell him what's what when it comes to gullibility
late response, but it could also be more to that. people tend to judge other peoples actions citing their own knowledge and experiences, which is a major reason why silver is considered an idiot. as you said, he comes from an apocalyptic world. he would not have heard the same stories we have, and would be unable to recognize typical character archetypes and storytelling tropes. also, considering his world was destroyed by a fire demon (and fire is bright) which spawned from a sun god, light might symbolize evil in his culture, so someone affiliated with darkness would seem more trustworthy in comparison
Yeah. Then again, Blaze seemed to be more mature and not as hotheaded as Silver, though that doesn't necessarily mean that she didn't believe Mephiles too. Plus, they were conveniently separated when they went through Mephiles's portal, so she couldn't keep Silver from doing anything rash even if she wanted.

In a way, i can see this as clever and even efficient, mephiles could simply just go back in time to merge back with iblis without much interuptions, but he doesn't, he chooses to do this very complicated plan involving tricking and manipulating silver, mentally torturing shadow, and killing sonic because, he just can, there's nothing holding him back, he gets what he wants, while doing something he likes, not to mention, he further locks his plan as foolproof, killing the one guy that can stop him, he has no motivation for this, he just likes seeing others in despair.

I think you misunderstood the whole "If you have time to worry, then run!" advice from Sonic. It's not really a metaphor for evading your problems; he actually meant taking action instead of worrying. Because he's Sonic, he used running as an example of taking action, since that's literally how he solves his problems (as you yourself pointed out when he took action by running).
That's the only critique I have, of course. This video is pure gold. Keep doing God's work.

Missed sin: the dark blue Chaos Emerald’s existence. It starts with Elise, and she throws it to Sonic when getting kidnapped. Sonic gives it to Eggman just before the mad Doctor sends them to the future. Eggman puts it in the Egg Genesis, which Silver takes it from after destroying it. Silver uses it to use Chaos Control with Shadow, opening a portal to 10 years in the past. Before returning to Shadow’s time, Silver gives the Emerald to Young Elise as a good luck charm. Elise presumably holds onto it until the Sun Festival Eggman attacks, where she throws it to Sonic. Not only should it be impossible for Elise to have the Emerald while the other games take place, it’s impossible for the Emerald to EXIST outside that 10 year time frame as it’s stuck in a time loop.
Wiltarrow I’d say the bigger issue is Silver taking the White Emerald with him. That means for 10 years the White Emerald stopped existing.

To be fair, he didnt sin the fact that the light blue and the green are from the future, meaning there is past versions of them in the present time.....until Iblis distorts space and time. making 9 emeralds currently existing during the story (not counting the extra dark blue he mentions since its stuck in a time loop)

@@kylecampbell565 that is a problem i see among critiques: the critics tend to use their own knowledge when criticizing a characters actions. try to see what the character knows, and how he/she was molded to think. in silvers time, light is probably associated with evil, and dark is the opposite of light, hence, someone associated with darkness has to be a good guy. there is also the prior suggestion of desperation trumping common sense. some people are willing to believe anything if the situation is desperate enough, so we cannot really blame him for that. maybe if the game did a better job at conveying all of this, it would be easier to understand. as it is now, we have to read between the lines

This is wordplay lost in translation. In Japanese, "Blue" can mean both blue and inexperienced. Like how in English, "Green" can mean both the color and inexperienced. Blaze thinks Silver the inexperienced naive hedgehog is the Iblis Trigger, while Silver thinks Sonic the literal blue hedgehog is.
