My M1air had the easiest life ever and it ironically died on my bed playing simple youtube video.....Tech is so reliable in todays world, it will reliably die 1 to 2 years past its warranty :(

I had this issue for about 20 mins of pressing every key combination possible - hearing the chime but nothing on the screen over and over again.
Advice like ‘turn brightness up’ or ‘is it charged’ is very useful! 🙂🙃
Managed to finally boot with power + shift + crtl + option and releasing power once chime and screen went on
I had to get a screen replacement, luckily sweden has a 2 year warranty by law, apple only wants to gove 1 year

This is the third time i had a screen blackout . First time it happened . I got the hardware replaced when it was under warranty.
2nd time it happened. I left it as it is unbothered. I kept doing all combinations once a week here and there and on one fine day the system completely rebooted. I dont know how
3rd time is the current time the screen went black suddenly one fine day. And i can only here chime now , see the keyboard lights but the screen is completely black. I will try doing randim key combinations because no one is sure how to fix it. Its a hardware issue am sure.

If anyone is having an issue with their device not charging, check if you are using the power adapter that came with the MacBook or something else. I was using a usb-c attached to my docking station and wasn’t even able to see the screen saying there wasn’t enough charge to turn on (battery icon with small red tick and plug icon below it). Turns out the docking station is only putting out 20 watts and the power adapter can put out >100 watts. I got the charging screen after trying this. Still hasn’t turned on (only been a few minutes). But at least I got something.

@@Fix.369 I'll check it out but my screen is black as well not just the Touch Bar (both are black) it happened at random .. I closed the screen put in in sleep mode and opened the screen and nothing appeared . Only the backlight ... shows only black screen with backlight lit

Nothing happens when I do the SMC reset like you say it. Well, it just shuts down, as if I had pressed the power button only.

I haven’t had this laptop long and I’ve encountered too many problems to count. I have had to reboot it twice due to random crashes and failed startups. It is by far my biggest regret of a useless purchase. I had a windows laptop prior for over a decade and even on its last legs, did not present me with such grief and issue.

Hi, mine just went off, didn't boot. Had to change the charging cable. Maybe the device has not enough energy to work so it won't boot. I hope this helps somebody. The cable kind of worked. So it said charging but it was not charging correctly. I got really scared. Let it charge, close the lid. Change the cable if needed. Good luck MacBook brothers

I pressed on the screen in the bottom left corner and it came back on, must be a loose connection
Good video with clear instructions! BUT as this video is for M1 MacBooks it's worth noting that reseting SMC won't help you as M1/M2 MacBooks don't have a SMC.
Leaving the laptop unplugged for 30+ sec is the closest thing you'd get to reseting the SMC as far as I know.

@@thepatterson9 hey! My MacBook turned on two days after, I just didn’t press any buttons or plug it in, then the day after i plugged it in and pressed the power button at the same time and it turned on. I really hope this works for you as well

None worked for me, i was using my macbook pro and the frames died then it shut down, then i tried charging it but it was making that charge sound over and over again. Once it finally turned on i saw the flickering on and off every 2 seconds then i got the black screen of death. What to do?
