Love this book! th-cam.com/users/postUgkxpCNxqmAkyjN6NPx1fyB7QiEFWyO5mUWL it is simply one-of-a-kind! I really love it, because karah explained all tools required to have the job done, not mentioning the fabulous diy pallets ideas. I'm pretty sure this will be a fresh start in my new endeavour. Amazon was great, they delivered on time. Thank you!
Best looking car port I ever seen. Also the workers are masters in thier profession, I joy to watch.
You always make structures that, while structurally functional, are also an art piece by themselves. Beautiful work.
Thank you very much CrankyPants! Yeah we always end up with some unusual projects:D
Lignum. The only channel i drop everything for when I see a new upload. Fantastic builds, this time is no disappointment.
Thank you very much Leffe!
Same. I literally could watch their videos all day long. In fact one afternoon I did!
My secret crush is their robot 🤖
phantastic use of wood and steel for sculptural buildings
Glad you like it Walther! :)
Amazing. You never disappoint. Fantastic work. I do miss the classical music though.
Thank you Matthew:) I'l bring back some classical pieces back for sure..
Who would give this video 👎?
Everything this channel uploads is a work of art.
Keep it up.
Thank you very much Jaros!
Danas sam bio u tom pogonu u Bošnjacima kraj Županje i odmah sam prepoznao da je to radio Lignum! 🙂🙂 Odlican video, a jos je bolje to vidjeti uzivo. Bravo.
Love the design of this and respect the engineering and thought process that went into its construction. I’d stop and take a picture of that if I was driving past for sure. Well done!
Thank you so much weiry!
Another ball knocked out of the park brother, awesome
Much appreciated, glad you like it Jeff!
Awsome ! I love it. Lignum does it right. Interesting projects, executed with all the right tools, with skill and precision. I'm a carpenter in Canada, would love to work in such a well equipped shop with such skilled people. We do some interesting stuff, but not at this level.
Brother, there are four simple words that come into my mind with EVERY one of your videos that I watch . . . .
"Ah, for f*** sake"! Your work is immaculate. These four words are always followed by . . . . "I'm quitting".
Keep 'er lit Bro!
Now that is cool. And so much engineering. Full respect.
Thank you Garry!
Beautiful and functional art. I’ve only ever seen that once before, and that was with the Alfa Romeo 8C. And that is about as high as praise can come!
Please do a flyby of that whole project once it is fully complete - that looks truly epic!
Glad you liked it! We still have to finish the siding on the building and a couple of other things but I'l make sure to post on Instagram when everything will be finished..
every time i watch your work, i feel deep happiness in my heart and i wish i be able to do the same in future. nice job. god bless you all.
Thank you so much 😀 So nice of you!
A very nice concept and great craftsmanship, but where does all the water go when it rains?
When polycarbonate roofing gets installed, water will go to the middle and drain to the sides. I don't know the details because roofing is another contractors part of the project.. I'l post a couple of photos on IG when it will be finished. Glad you like it James! :)
Gorgeous - the angles and proportions create a great impression.
Do they have any plans to cover the structure with sheet goods or similar to offer more protection to the area underneath?
That's the plan! They plan to go with some kind of polycarbonate roofing.
Put solar panels on there
I literally get excited when I see a video uploaded by you and always check how long it is!!! The longer the better!!! Love you videos. Thank you please 🙏 ❤
Thank you very much chris, :D I'l do my best to make them longer, sometimes I just don't have enough time ..
I always like what you do, from buildings to guitars to chairs!
Thank you very much Duke! Another bass will be next;)
This is mighty impressive!!
Wonderful work, congratulations!
Thank you very much kolega ! ;)
heckuva carport ya got there... doesn't protect from sun, doesn't protect from rain
Roofing will be done by another contractor
True artists.
Glad your keeping busy.
Saludos de Costa Rica.
Thank you very much! :D
LIGNUM...... L.O.L. Lots Of Laminations!
Ahaha, Yeah that's about right!
As a structural engineer I recognize some of the hangers (Simpson Strong tie?), are the other connections manufactured in-house?
Your channel is amazing! Everything you do is inspiring to me. I own a small CNC shop in the US. We aspire to do similar work! Keep it up!
That is absolutely gorgeous!
How do you manage snow, and water?
Thank you William! Structure is dimensioned to withstand the snow load, water will be collected in the middle, I'm not sure how exactly, another contractor has the roofing part..
Beautiful as always. Like large scale outdoor furniture. If a vehicle bumps into it, we will have to take them out.
:DGlad you like it cargogh!
Fantastic carport! And like the music very much
Thank you very much! And the music choice! I rarely get that!
Lignum is the best
Thank you very much! :)
Amazing channel you have build here. I would love to see some of the work done in software, prior to fabrication of these wonderful products. Is that possible for you to include some of the knowledge on that part? :) Maybe like, 1/3 or 1/4 of the video, could be explaining your thought of the design process. I have used fusion360 for some hobby projects, but I am not educated in engeneering like you. I have a master in Data science and I am just tumbling around with some 3d, cnc projects as a hobby.
This is massive. Are those tensors for structural reasons or are they to hold the cover?
Structural reasons. they take the wind load, and horizontal acceleration from earthquakes. Unfortunately roofing alone will not be enough to absorb potential forces..
@@lignumchannel Thanks for the answer
Muy bonito. Algo que me hubiese gustado construir a mi. No obstante no me parece muy funcional, quiero decir que cuando llueve el coche se va a mojar y cuando haga sol el coche se va a cocer...
Отличная работа! Очень масштабно.
Why was it not uniform? At 6:08 you can see how the near side isn't spaced quite the same. I'm sure there's a good reason for it, but i don't immediately understand. Also, at 1:40 there are some metal rods being hammered in that don't appear to be bolts or anything - are those just secured via friction? Amazing work - i love your videos.
Those pillars are screwed together at the metal base and at the top, those rods are only there for structural strength.
Amazing, beautiful work...
Thank you very much Eamon!
As always, this is gorgeous! Two questions: (1) what do you expect the long-term maintenance to be for the wood? (2) "wood technology center" sounds awesome. Any info on that?
Glad you like it! The maintenance is nothing in particular, clean it and freshen up the color every couple of years.. The wood technology center will be doing mostly prototypes of furniture and other wooden products for designers, architects, engineers.. Also testing..
Absolutely amazing.
Thank you Stefan! :)
Wow!!! That's crazy project!!! Again wood and metal Magic!!! Guys you are really maaaaaads) !💪
Thanks a lot! :D
Bravo majstore!
Hvala Josip! :D
Beautiful!
Thank you Ellie! Always one of the first:D
Splendide ossature bois
Bravo
:- )
Looks amazing but it doesnt really block the sun too well
Not at this moment :D. Another contractor will install the roofing.
Beautifull! But why is there one smaller bay?
Im not sure really, this was the ordered layout we worked on.. One bay is for people with disabilities but it is not the smallest one..
Gorgeous
Glad you like it Jorge!
Beautiful.
Thank you!
That looks beautiful. Is it going to be solar covered?
I'm not sure, another contractor as the roofing, I think it will be semitransparent polycarbonate.
Wonder how often you have to refinish something like that.
I've been making wooden structures for 16 years now and some customers never painted them again, if not really exposed to the weather , not that often..
Дерево и самое лучшее материал на земле
It looks amaizing, but two questions: do you really use nails instead of screws, is it strong enought? and what about snow, when you put cover on the roof, all snow will stay in the middle?!
Glad you like it! The snow is not a problem, every wooden and steel element, number of bolts and nails is calculated to withstand max snow, wind and horizontal acceleration during earthquake.
@@lignumchannel really very nice carport... like all you works.
Beautiful!
I am especially intrigued by the irregular left to right rhythm of the supports, best seen @6:01. Was that purely an esthetic choice, or is there a functional rationale?
Same question
SO are you going to go back when the roof is put on and all those tensioners can be removed? As usual your work is excellent.
The tensioners are part of the structure and absorb a lot of forces of wind and possible earthquakes, roofing alone is not enough to keep the structure from warping in extreme cases.. Glad you like the work Jeffrey! :D
Always beautiful work, it's beautiful, it's intelligent, when can I come for training at your place?
Thank you very much Bruno, I appreciate it.. :) I didn't have a trainee yet!
Beautiful 🙏
Thank you Graham! :D
Is a carport only for esthetic? For why doesn’t it have anything acting as a room? Where I live, we don’t have many of those, so, I’m just curious :-) thanks !
It will protect from snow, hail, rain and sun, they are quite common here..
@@lignumchannel thank you!
Un gran vídeo! Espectacular!
Thank you! :D
Wow, everything is made so precise that it all fits together perfectly. Amazing work! ( ps: the dark green building in the back kinda looks like a fancy mc Donalds )
Ahahaha, Yeah it kinda does! :D Thank you for watching Hannibal Smith, glad you like it!
Epic skeleton structure to form a house from
Jako dobro, ali čavlani spoj sekundaraca?
Hvala! Tako je u Izvedbenom projektu, samo znam da ce neko posteno psovat za 100 godina kad ce raskapat XD
Excelente trabajo.
Very nice. What’s the point of it?
It is a vehicle carport. Another vendor is installing the roof. He thinks it will be a polycarbonate product. Rain an snow runoff will be coveted in the center V location.
This is the entry area for a wood research center, so the architect & client wanted to have a showplace piece to highlight that wood can be a finished product as well as structural. Mission accomplished.
This info was gleaned from the replies to other comments. Project location is in Croatia I believe. Preparation of the beams is covered in the other video labeled ‘Production beams’.
So I assume you are the designer of this masterpiece.
Not this one , chief architect designed the center..
Awesome as usual .. Love the channel 👍🏽
Much appreciated! Thank you Mark!
Bloody amazing, and beautiful.
Thank you! :D
How heavy is one of those glulam beams?
With steel and bolts around 500 kg. Spruce glulam is around 500 kg per m3.
@@lignumchannel wow! Heavy but quite lighter that I thought :-) thanks!
i gave a thumbs up even watching this cause i know its gonna be good stuff , excellent craftsmanship & video footage ... did they choose wood over steel for beauty purposes ?
Thank you😁 It will be wood technology centre so they wanted as much wood as possible..
What is normal primer length?
Beautiful
Thank you Dave!
Very nice desing and quality of manufacturing but i think black nuts and bolts would look better.
Now when you say it, I think you are right..
@@lignumchannel Sorry about that :)
Wow, too beautiful to be a carport. Luckily my auntie won't park here or she will knock some down :). Thank you for sharing. Your channel is always inspiring.
Thanks for watching! I just hope the roofing will do it justice.. I remember when we were assembling one of our carports, a kid drove in it over night and damaged it. After scratching our heads for the half of the next dad on how the heck it got damaged, kid confessed.. He was so ashamed hehe..
@@lignumchannel I take it the damage was only cosmetic. Hitting it hard enough to cause it structural issues would totally total a car.
Вот это проект... какой дерево использовали? Привет из Киргизии
Why not equally spaced apart?
Some parking spaces are for people with disabilities, so parking spaces are bigger.
Looks great. Two questions:
1. Why is there an extra support on the end nearest the building?
2. Why is the cross bracing only on the first and last section?
Thank you! :)First two opposing spaces are for people with disabilities so they are bigger and separated. Metal structures have cross braces usually placed in the middle sections so the structure can freely expand and contract as the temperature changes. Cross braces are usually placed in the last sections on wooden structures because wood has almost no temperature dilatation. When calculating stresses on the structure, you get how many cross braces should be installed to keep the structure from warping, In this case two sections were enough.
what species is the timber?
U guys are awesome!!!
Thank you Varlan!
Вопрос: А зачем такой пустой навес,без покрытия?? Красиво-Да! Полезно-Нет!!
It is not finished. Roof will be added.
Super...u kojem programu radis crtanje statiku i te stvari?
Crtam u Autocadu i u Rhinu. A za statiku imamo vanjske suradnike. Ako treba izracunat nesto sitno onda to izracunam na žgance;)
If you don't mind answering a business question, what does a structure like this cost? 50k? 500k? 5 million?
Depends in what currency hehe ;)
Daj mi reci jel ovo jelovina ili neko drugo drvo?
Hvala pozz
Kombinacija Jela -Smreka
A beautiful piece of architectural artwork, but it does strike me as an expensive project merely to enable cars to park.
Luckily there are still some people that invest in beauty over just functionality.
I'm glad you like it John!:D This is in front of future wood technology center so the architect wanted people when visiting to know which building it is, even from a far.. That is why the wooden carport and also a lot of wooden siding elements on the building itself.
@@lignumchannel
I do like it.
Over the last decade or so I've been fascinated by the glulam process. Its mechanical/structural properties seem to lend it to these artistic forms. It also seems to have the odd visual effect of the combining the contrasting qualities of heft yet lightness as well as great strength.
I imagine that for the young architect or engineer it must be an exciting specialism.
Amazing piece of work but my inner OCD is triggered by the fact that not all the posts are equally spaced...
Likely for different sized cars and trucks
How did you drill the holes through the plates so square by hand?
After thousands of drilled holes, it kinda comes naturally .. :D
整体效果很棒❤
The precise measurements involved is excruciatingly painful to master.
Do you also design and build the metal brackets?
We usually do but for this project no, we got the detailed plans and had the wood production and assembly part, metal brackets production and roofing is done by another contractor.
Awesome!
Thank you Wender!:D
Pergola for vehicle parking. I never know why people choose roofless structures such as these, which offer no shelter from rain, snow, dust or birds etc
This is not a pergola. The roofing is another contractors part so I didn't film it. It is covered with policarbonate panels.
Is it possible to hide metal parts in the end?
It is but I always like to see the structural elements. But It is just my personal taste..
What is the purpose of that construct?
Show off! 😁
Очень круто!
Where are u guys from?
Croatia:D
@@lignumchannel Oooo pa bas mi je drago da u komsiluku ima tako ozbiljna firma! Sve pohvale!
I’m surprised a corporation went with custom choice and not off the shelf
Where is the roof? What is the point of a car park eithout a roof😦
No point😁 transparent roofing will be done by another contractor.. I'l post some pics or vids on ig when everything will be completed..
so good
Thank you Michael:)
Молодцы ребята
Great build man like always. I need to quit my business and start working for you for free just to enjoy life :)
Than you Asif! :D Man sometimes I want to quit , every Job has it's stresses..
Where is this?
Gradište, Croatia.
хорошая работа
I hope the customer was just beaming with pride
:D hehe I hope they will..
Excelent
