One of my favorite parts is during the later hearing when you can see his Honor's glee at knowing he's holding the receipts to refute the attorney. Anyone who has played poker knows the joy of holding the best possible hand (a.k.a. the nuts) and seeing the opponent put in a raise. That's how the judge looked. 😂

@@ScoundrelvilleTv he has a suspension for nonpayment of child support on his record, but also has no license. you can be suspended if you don't have a license. this is mostly for record keeping so in case he obtains a license from another state, michigan can enforce the suspension (source: work at the dmv)

I was embarrassed for her when she found out about the warrant and the fact he never had a license and he didn't tell her. But, she did go to the media without doing any research and just repeating his lies. I felt like she was an idiot for that. I think she thought she could make headlines for getting a juicy payday for her client.
Don't feel bad for the lawyer. They are an idiot for not doing their own due diligence to look into this pathological liars claims
She gets paid either way. I would just take the lower but easily gained pay in this case. No use putting the energy in fighting a losing battle.
If you ever think these people's lawyers are idiots, remember there is lawyers for every serial killer that try and argue their client did not do the crime and they were out of town or so and so thing, when there is every evidence in the world they did it. They are literally paid money to argue law.

@Atozy - You missed the even bigger side twist! It occurs in later in the same court case. Just when you think it couldn't get worse, Judge Simpson points out that there is also a live warrant for him in another state for driving in another state without a licence

Here in the U.K, if you’re suspended from driving your insurance cover becomes null and void, even if you don’t cancel your insurance cover; and if a claim is made and paid prior to the insurance company discovers you were unlicensed you will also pick up a charge of insurance fraud for failing to disclose your driving ban!

Also if its an emergency shouldn't he be going to the ER not a regular doctor which needs to be scheduled months in advance giving you plenty of time to find transportation or take the bus if you have to

My doc will see my same day. One time when I wasn't sure if something warranted an ER visit, he saw me and then called the ER to let them know I was on the way and to give me priority, because I was at risk of losing my leg, haha.
not urgent care. its not an ER but immediate care thats not necessary for an ER to deal with. no appointment walk ins, its not a check up.
Most primary care doctors will keep appointment slots open on their schedule every day for same day appointments. Additionally, many larger clinic groups will have a rotating urgent care schedule that's walk in/same day only. Lastly, there are entire clinics that are urgent care only.
All of which is to say that there are several options for people to be seen urgently that aren't the emergency room.

My local radio station even had a segment where they made a formal apology because he lied to the news outlets. It's even worse than the first hilarious video. And he got taken into custody at the end of this hearing because he had an outstanding warrant for driving without a license in another Jurisdiction. His lawyer was doing so well and she didn't even know about the warrant he had, because he of course didn't tell her.
There was also police cam footage from one of his recent incidents where he admitted to the police at least twice that he did not have a license
So his Drivers License was suspended but he never had one? Wow, this is quite the story.
Pretty sure what it means is his driving privileges were revoked so even if he'd gotten a license during the time it would still be illegal for him to drive. Just my guess by how it was worded, I don't know an awful lot about US law.

he’s not a sov cit. he’s never had a license, his driving privileges in Michigan were revoked. Michigan law allows driving privilege to revoked even without having a license.
Michigan told him he is banned from driving on Michigan roadways. If he had a license from any other state he could return to that state and drive wherever he wanted without legal issue because Michigan is only worried about Michigan. But he has been pretending his license is “in progress” for God knows how long. Like when you move from Cali to TX and have 9 months to switch your license over. He just literally never did the bare minimum necessary to maintain a license. We are not sure if he ever passed a driving test or exam.

I am internally screaming on behalf of his attorney...She's almost certainly a public defender (and probably has 100 other cases on her plate right now). She does not get paid enough to deal with her client essentially running her over her in order to present evidence to the judge on a silver platter...Tripping over his dumb ass in order to shove a weapon into the hands of the one person she's literally spending her time working to defend him from!!
Respect to her for staying professional and acting like she has a reason to be invested in his defense...as if he's paying her to defend him, as if she will be rewarded in any way for successfully getting him out of trouble for driving without a license, on camera, right in the Judge's face.
While I do agree with you, here's the thing. She went with him to those interviews and ran her mouth about his "plight". She didn't do any research and just spread his lies. So I'm a bit embarrassed for her and think she was a bit of an idiot.

It's possible to get your license suspended even if you don't have one, meaning you won't be able to obtain one. If his suspension was lifted, he could then get a license. Up to now, he has only had ID cards, not a driver's license. hes a bum

You have to join when the court says you need to join, even if your hair is on fire. Otherwise it's the same as walking into the courtroom late. Instead he should've pulled over BEFORE letting the judge know he was driving.
And it is automatically considered distracted driving to attend court while driving. So even if he had no license issues he would still be in legal trouble.
No license means no insurance. No insurance means no one is gonna pay when he crashes into someone or something. He's probably caused the accident that he was cited for. It's absolutely inexcusable. The reason he has never had a license is the SAME reason he got his privileges suspended: he didn't want to pay child support. I used to do taxes and that's why many of my clients would pull up to the office, get out of the driver's side, come in, and present a state id. They think they're avoiding the system because they think driving without a license is a better fine than suspended.

What a genius. I've suspected for a very long time that there are many people who either never bother to get a license, or just keep driving when it gets suspended. However it is, there are too many people on the road who don't belong there. Those are the very ones that make me keep comprehensive insurance--I've been hit by uninsured drivers in the past.

The guy actually did come up with a pretty good lie because revoked and reinstated licenses get messed up allllll the time! In the early 2000s my dad’s license got revoked for not paying child support, it was reinstated once he payed AND retook his drivers test. Then 4 years later when he went to go renew his license, they tell him it’s suspended. He has to call everyone in the world to get it verified that his license isn’t suspended. Turned out the court never documented him taking the classes to get his license back, so he had to REDO It. He finally got his license reinstated and renewed. Another 4 years ago by and AGAIN they’re telling him at the DMV that his license is suspended. That time it was a simpler fix but he still had to call all these Supreme Court justices and crap to get it fixed.
I'm really sorry you're Dad went through all that and was finally was able to take care it. He was very responsible and did the right thing. This guy had more than 9 years to fix it and never did. I say 9 years because it turned out he had a warrant from 9 years ago for the same crime and never took care of it.

My uncle recently went through something similar lol. Well, kind of. He had gotten a DUI like, 20 something years ago and when the state suspended his license, he thought that meant he couldn't drive at all anymore, which wasn't the case, and he actually could've gotten it back like 2 years later, but he had no idea. Fast forward 20 years, he discovers that his driving privileges have been reinstated and he went to the DMV thinking they would just give him his license back then and there, but they issued him a state ID. He didn't realize that until months later and thought he had his license back this entire time lol.
While that's...um... interesting... that has nothing to do with what this guy did 😂. He never had a license to begin with. Never. And the stories aren't similar at all... they just both involve driver's licenses.
