Thank you, sir. 🤩🤩🤩 1:06 Why are people with a higher BMI at a higher risk for vitamin D deficiency? Fat Solubility: Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin, which means it is stored in fat tissue. In individuals with higher amounts of adipose (fat) tissue, vitamin D can get "trapped" in the fat and become less bioavailable for the body to use. This results in lower circulating levels of active vitamin D (calcitriol) in the blood. Limited Sun Exposure: People with a higher BMI may be less likely to engage in outdoor activities or have sufficient sun exposure, which is the primary source of vitamin D. In people with obesity, there may be a reduced ability to convert vitamin D from its inactive form (D2 or D3) to its active form in the body. This is because excess fat may reduce the efficiency of the liver and kidneys in processing vitamin D, leading to lower levels of the active form in circulation. Obesity may also influence the metabolism of vitamin D in the liver by contributing to the development of fatty liver, which can further impair vitamin D metabolism. 2:34 Why are empirical vitamin D supplements recommended for the 1-18 age group without testing? Because the 1-18 age group is a growing age group, bone growth is continuous, and the demand for vitamin D is higher. In addition, sir has already explained another reason for this.
On Routine master health check up adult in India, most of them having vit D deficient levels but without symptoms/risk. They really need Vit D supplementation?
Thanks for the update.

Should we measure 25(OH)D or 1,25 (OH)2D level in CKD? Should we give Cholecalciferol or Calcitriol supplementation in CKD?
25OH vit d is measured in ckd. 1,25 is very costly and not recommended rather iPTH is done
