Ozone stays behind to cover you but then gets sniped by a bullet that comes out of nowhere then Scarecrow gets fuckin nailed by a mortar shell through direct impact. Those are scripted deaths so you can’t save them beyond that point

Impossible. Roach is heavily wounded. They're surrounded by 2 armies, pretty much can't survive. That's why this ending is valid, bring the impossible. I like that.

Ironically, the betrayal is another element to what made MW2 so good back then. Not just for the multiplayer, the story is what a lot of gamers remember even till today.
i like the game logic in this one...200 enemy soldiers vs 4 on a field in a 15 meter radius, choppers dropping reinforcements next to the 4 guys close enough to see the color of the eyes...should've also added sudoku puzzles for the 4 guys to solve while dodging bullets

It’s been YEARS since I’ve played this game and this still makes me incredibly happy and somehow fulfilled, like I just got something I never knew I needed but now that I have it, I can’t imagine life without it lol
Despite continuity issues with the cutscene still saying Roach is KIA (which since the cutscene is a rendered video thus difficult to edit) I love how 1. Price's warning was on time 2. The slow mo for when Roach has the chance to clap Shepherd 3. Ghost yelling "AMBUSH" when he was counterattacked 4. Survive the whole fucking army 5. The entirety of (what's left of) the 141, i.e. Archer and his sniper team gets down there and fight with Ghost and Roach (always thought Archer is a cool sod) though them saying details they'd only known if they're on separate high ground is a bit off. Props. Mad props.
should've been gets adrenaline rush with distorted hearing and always bloody screen able to wobble walk where he needs to go without looking like he's feeling the injury, why? because adrenaline does help get rid of pain.
The first time I played mw2, right before this happened I had a moment of realisation, because I'd seen the scene on it's own but not the leadup before it. When Sheperd opened the chopper door, after about 5 seconds it ticked and boom, it happened. Even though I'd had it spoiled beforehand, the impact was just as big. Love this alternate ending!
I didn't even realize this was possible. I never thought of just shooting Shepard in this mission. Repeatedly failed in the opening stage for just busting out my desert eagle and putting a bullet between his eyes, but never thought of doing that in that clusterfuck of a mission. That just made my day!
An entire army of highly trained mercenaries whose only tactic is to land all their troops in the middle of one field basically on top of heavily armed special forces troops one helicopter at a time? Were these guys trained by Zap Brannigan and hoped to force Roaches built in kill limiter to trigger his instant death animation by sending wave after wave of their own men to die to Roaches guns not realising that the limiter was already removed by the injuries Roach suffered earlier?
Sheperd reminds me of the “kill rourke” situation in a previous ghost title. You shoot the bastard, probably in the head, and he’s underwater while unconscious, probably drowning, yet he still survives and drags you off while your brother just watches and doesn’t bother trying to shoot him.
Imagine if this had been a Mason situation like in Bo2 where you could actually save Roach and Ghost if you kill shepherd, the whole game wouldve gone so much differently
Fun fact: if shepherd was more arrogant and sent shadow company after price and soap first then roach and ghost would’ve had a chance to kill shepherd early and live

The first time I played mw2, right before this happened I had a moment of realisation, because I'd seen the scene on it's own but not the leadup before it. When Sheperd opened the chopper door, after about 5 seconds it ticked and boom, it happened. Even though I'd had it spoiled beforehand, the impact was just as big. Love this alternate ending!

I didn't even realize this was possible. I never thought of just shooting Shepard in this mission. Repeatedly failed in the opening stage for just busting out my desert eagle and putting a bullet between his eyes, but never thought of doing that in that clusterfuck of a mission. That just made my day!

Sheperd reminds me of the “kill rourke” situation in a previous ghost title. You shoot the bastard, probably in the head, and he’s underwater while unconscious, probably drowning, yet he still survives and drags you off while your brother just watches and doesn’t bother trying to shoot him.

Alternative Timeline: Confident in his men's ability to dispatch Price and Soap, Shephard orders them to kill the SAS elites earlier than planned. However, he, like many Price has stood against, underestimated his targets. Consequently, Price managed to warn Ghost and Roach of Shephard's betrayal and prevent the deaths of his comrades, as well as leading them into easily killing Shephard and his troops.
With witness accounts and Makarov's unorthodox but convenient evidence, the SAS exposed the US's deeper involvement in the war between them and Russia. With the press jumping on their necks and the people now against the war efforts, the US is forced into ending the war prematurely, and the SAS are soon able to go back to hunting down the Russian war criminal they first sought out to kill. Sadly, when an operation failure resulted in the death of Soap Mactavish, Price takes Ghost and Road, along with a Russian aide named Yuri, to seek revenge, succeeding and finally killing Makarov. The SAS are honored in their efforts to taking down the masterminds behind what many news sources claimed to be the stepping stones of a potential WW3, some even heralding them as saviors of the world, not just Britain. The United States and Russia were found guilty of war crimes and many loyal patriots of both nations quickly grew disloyal and emigrated to other nations.
