Oh. My. Goddess! I did not even think this was possible!!! Thank you for this! I believe I will do a mini remodel now on my ugly kitchen until I can do a major overhaul!
Looks good
Would like to see how it hols up to something falling heavy or sharp falling on it
You can add a stencil pattern to make it look like tile
Stenciling would make look cheap and dated again
this is awesome, i love my house but the floors makes it look dirty & old because the tiles the previous owner installed arent clean looking
I think it looks really good and with that clearcoat on top it’ll help protect the paint from chipping plus you can have area rugs, so most of the traffic is on that good job
Honestly doesn’t look bad. If you are doing a quick flip or ballin on a budget, this is a viable option
Exactly
A quick flip? So the new owners have to deal with paint wearing away? If you wouldn’t do it for you house, why would you sell it to someone else like this? 🤔
@@ThePomskysPalaceIt’s not a good idea to put a ton of money into a house you’re about to sell. When I was looking for a house new light gray wood floors were in all the flips. I hated them so I’m thinking “I really hate these floors, I can’t buy a fully renovated house and then redo brand new floors. I don’t love this house”
@@JennieFuchsia I totally can understand that,. What’s crazy is they probably didn’t come out of pocket much for grey floors unless they were real
Wood. 9 times out of 10, grey floors are typically those laminate wood floors and didm’t cost more than a couple hundred for materials.. real tile or wood wouldnt typically come in grey unless it was painted/stained that way and even then, they don’t typically buy solid wood to go with trend but rather quality. It’s unfortunate but don’t ever hesitate to critique a “finished” home to your liking if it’s on trend. Trend = cheaply done. I’d never pick and choose a house based on “trendy” finishes. i know majority of buyers aren’t looking for trends but rather, quality, consistency and longevity. It’s a shame flippers don’t understand that!!!!
@@JennieFuchsiappl hate them but still buy those houses. I have Brazilian cherry n seems like area selling in. Ppl just want cheap flips n spend more money on it after couple years.
I will try this in different color. Your floor looks beautiful!
Awesome! Thank you!
My Goldens nails have accepted your painted floor challenge 🐕
Ohhhh so THAT’S how you pry off trim without leaving holes!
Lol
Haha!!! 👊🏾🇳🇬🇺🇸
Show us the same floor in 6 months, then one year, then 2 years. I guarantee that the paint will not hold up in even moderate traffic spots.
no one but you thinks that OP is trying to present this as a permanent solution.
@tenfour10-400 try 2 months😢
I have throw rugs on mine.
Might as well epoxy over it if thats possible might hace a more durable finish
@@HamidAli-lm7di Then what's the point in spending the time and money into something that'll last a few months?
I needed this thank you🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Wow! Nice!
Beautiful!!!!! Thanks for sharing will be doing this next weekend!❤
How did your floors turn out?
Great job April.
You did such an amazing job. I love the floor❤
Thank you!
That looks very nice I like it❤
Thank you!
If you move a heavy white goods object over it, does it scratch the paint off?
Guaranteed
@@DC-Media1 that is why u put felt furniture dots under furniture feet.
Wow what a difference a day makes 👏🏻 awesome
We are all broke 😂😂😂 turning DIYs 😅
Wow, thank you. I will send you a before & after
THIS!
I have been looking at houses online and some of them have ugly tile floors. The thought of having to replace the flooring just to create an environment that I dont hate, is daunting.
But painting seems to be a suitable option for a year or two, until I muster up the money for upgrading later on.
I see a lot of people questioning the durability, which makes total sense if someone is hoping for a longterm solution. In my case, it would basically be a way to temporarily improve hideous floor tile.
Of course, cost is a factor, so I'd have to price the temporary solution versus the ultimate new permanent flooring. But definitely something I will look into.👍🏻
Exactly! This is an excellent solution for anyone who needs a "meanwhile" update. We are in the same boat as you. We'll be tearing out the floors eventually. But in the meantime, we can now stand to live with them! The durability isn't forever, but in the 2 years we've had them painted, they've held up incredibly well. Very impressed. Thanks!
@@MakerGray
Thank you for the response!😁
In my case, it would be fairly low traffic, since it's just me...and a couple of cats...so it's sounding like a good option to investigate.
Thanks again.👍🏻
i would steam clean tiles first. then proceed with steps to paint.
Wow! Amazing!
Can't wait to see more from this channel x
Thank you!
scratches... scratches everywhere...
They can happen on normal tiles too..
Put a clear coat on top so when you scratch it doesn't take the black off and if it does use a sharpie :)
I like the previous color. Looks better and luxury
🚫🧢
What about scratches or paint/peeling ? My tiles are a matte finish. I really want to try this.
We've had ours painted for a little over a year now and I'm really surprised and amazed at how well it has held up! I recommend two coats of each part and you should be good!
Agreed on two coats.
Soooo if you’re doing a large space like they are and it calls for one box, which is the basecoat and the topcoat in two separate cans you would buy two boxes and do the basecoat once let it dry six hours do the basecoat again let it dry six hours, and then you would do the clear top and the more the better.
it might even be best to do two base coats and three top coats drying in between.
Don’t forget to clean the grout really good and if you think that the tile is too smooth after cleaning, you can always use an orbital sander and knock off some of the sheen so it has something better to adhere to. Of course you’d have to clean it again, but prep is always premier when it comes to doing a quality paint job.
@@brasha78 when using multiple coats i always change direction on 2nd coat just feels like it covers better
Love this project 🙌🏽
The tile floors aren't outdated. It's just not the "clean look" or a modern look, which I think will go out of style soon anyway. Changing furniture or wall color can make a difference.
Painting tile is like painting brick. Looks good for a while, then you regret doing it forever. Typically used as a flipping update
im doin the same color this weekend
Wow fabulous. Great job!
Thank you!
How long does this last?
Wow that looks so much better!
Right?! Thanks!
Did mine in black also. The whole house except bath and bedrooms. Looks great.
Yessss love to hear it! Thanks!!
After you painted it, how does the floor last does the clearcoat really make a difference? I’m sure it does.
@@to5msheppard I have throw rugs on mine. The tile is cold and very hard but the throw rugs make it just right!
Looks good 👍
So damn good!
Turned out beautiful
Thank you!
You have any idea if it works for bathroom tiles and if is waterproof, my shower tiles are very ugly
I dont think this particular product works in wet areas. But RustOleum has one that is specifically for shower tiles also
What’s the best to remove painted ones??
Pulled my carpets up waiting for this person to do my floors. Gonna do this while im waiting. This looks amazing
“waiting for this person to do my floors”?
The person from the video is doing your floors?
“Gonna do this while I’m waiting”?
What are you going to do, paint your floors?
If you paint your floors I suppose you don’t need to wait for the initial “person” mentioned above.
brilliant.
Beautiful
Looks great..
Hi how is it doing now are they durable ?
Why didn't you choose epoxy?
It's looks good but I think this is one of those things that will age poorly and we will look back on and cringe.
For us, this is an excellent solution for the short term (a couple of years). We have plans to take up the tile floor and replace it with another material. Until then, this is a great solution to update some outdated and unsightly flooring. One year in, so glad we did it.
@@MakerGray that makes perfect sense
That looks amazing.
Would love to have some feedback, please? Our cabinets are more of a cherry color. The kitchen flooring is an awful slate blue color. The adjoining rooms are cherry hardwoods. Have no idea what color to paint these slate blue floors. Forgot to mention, the countertops are black/ white quartz. ( No, we didn’t pick any of these colors.)
White or cream would be too stark of a contrast to the adjoining cherry floors. Black, too dark.
Open to suggestions, please…
What about the off gasses ??? I painted my car in the garage stunk the house for 3 days
I love this idea, but Texturize black tiles should be *illegal*
I thought baseboards were heaters.. and those are moldings. But I googled it and turns out, there is a such thing as moldings being called baseboard trim. You live and learn lol
Whoa, nice.
Yup
Would it make tiles slippy?
Not at all!
is it epoxy paint?
Hello, Is It resistent against scratches? I own a veterinary practice and got lot of dog nails that could be so aggressive on the floor. Thanx
Shouldn't the tile be sanded first?
This manufacturer suggests a strong degreaser cleaning only before application. Worked out great!
Hi, are the cans 1 gallon? if so, where can I find this kit? Thanks
I believe they offer different sizes of cans. I've got a product link for you in the description of this video here: th-cam.com/video/uYYouUiCNpk/w-d-xo.html Thanks!
Thank you!
Looks 👍
Thanks!
I was skeptical and was ready to type my negative comment. However I am honestly impressed. It turned out nice.
Thanks! I appreciate it!
Can this be used on laminate flooring ???? 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Yes!
can you give an update for even 6 months later?
I'd like to do a video soon, but for now, I can tell you that over a year later it has held up great!
@@MakerGraywhen’s the update video
awesome
I love it. This will help a lot on my flips where the tile is in good shape but the pre-existing color isn't attractive..
Great! I'm super happy with the project. Thanks for watching!
Just like their countertop painting kits i guarantee thats not gonna last
Can this paint be applied to old
hardwood floor?
I believe so!
What about high traffic like shoes and large dogs?
So far (1.5 years in) no problem!
Keep ur dogs nails trimmed :))
And what if you wanna remove it? 🤔
Paint stripper like goof off
Its will not peel out just asking i want try with my new bedroom
Looks great!
Thanks so much Ellie!
Can I remove it?
Can you give an update on how it held up?! TIA
It's held up very well! I'm really impressed. I'll be releasing a follow up video with details soon!
Love to see an update as well, I really want to do this but with 5 dogs idk if its a viable option.
How well does it hold up moping everyday?:)
Very well! We have even steam cleaned it. No problems.
Would you still reccomend this paint?
Update? How’s it holding up?
Very well! 2 years in and we're very happy with it. Look for a follow up review video to come out from us very soon.
how long did the floors take to dry
Dried pretty fast. However the manufacturer says 6 hours to walk on the paint and 24 hours for the top coat.
What a terrible idea. Foot traffic will ruin that floor in a year. And you can't just paint over the top of that paint after a year. Porcelain/ceramic tile is not absorbent, that junk is just sitting on top and not bonded to the flooring.
Two years in and I can tell you the floor has held up surprisingly well and it has adhered to the tile very well. As the person who has actually done this, I can tell you it's been a very good idea!
Which RAL?
Hi will this work on a natural stone floor (not sure I think mine is slate stone) with textures?
I believe so! Here is a product link with more info: spr.ly/ROHOME_makergray
@@MakerGray thank you!
@@tonyblinks5879 read the reveiws of this product on the link Maker Gray provided. I painted tile in all my bathrooms and it chips, peels, can't clean it, can't vaccuum. I am now re-doing them in the proper way (sand them, polyurethane them).
@@stephaniebeaulieu6382 thank you I will keep that in mind 🙌🏽🙏🏽
what's ur clear top protective coat?
It's part of the two part system! I've got it linked here for you: www.makergray.com/concrete/2022/3/28/how-to-paint-your-tile-floor
Our house, someone put ceramic baseboards that match the flloor
Have before and after pictures that you can send me? I’m a contractor in Texas and would like to have before and after pictures of this makeover
Hi there - you can find photos here! www.makergray.com/concrete/2022/3/28/how-to-paint-your-tile-floor
Does it get scratched, like shoe marks etc?
Shoes have not scratched it at all. The only scratches we have are one place from a big plant pot that skidded across the floor and moving our refrigerator too aggressively. Its pretty durable.
Find the full tutorial video here! th-cam.com/video/uYYouUiCNpk/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching!
Tile over, for long term solution.
Does it come off
nice
Looks great, I would add some runners in high traffic areas bc you will def wear right thru that
Thanks! Amazingly, every single one of our high traffic areas is completely unfazed. Still looks new one year later!
I would wax on top of clear to help protect an wax is easy to add once a year or so
No
❤
What matls
How is this holding up ???
Can i find the same in white?
Yes
Don't do it
I have the exact tiles and I hate them. doing this!!!
yay!!
How is it holding up?
Is not holding up is holding down!
This will only create a bigger problem. You can’t paint over un prepped, un etched tile. Get ready to tear it all out, or strip it… if even possible. Maybe overlay & planks
This was 2 years ago. I prepped per the manufacturers directions and it's held up wonderfully. This has been perfect for what we are needing, which is a short-term solution to cover an ugly floor until we can rip the whole thing out and install all new flooring.
@@MakerGray well, if you’re going to tear it out then it’s definitely good for short term. I guess it does have its uses. Especially if mindful of it.
@@arrepuess Thanks!
Is it slip resistant?
We dont find it to be slippery
@@MakerGray thank u for the reply
Can i paint white?
Sure can!
