      @@inspiredoverland How does the top of the tent hold up to brush and branches? I am a little skeptical about a soft-cover wedge tent. I go through some tight trails and am trying to find information on this. Does it need reinforcement for the trails? Also, how does it hold up in snow accumulation? I am very interested in this tent. Or should I save my pennies and get the hard shell that is coming out in April 2024?

    Best review I've seen on this tent. I kept looking at it for about a year but never pulled the trigger. Then they went on sale so I had to jump on it, the price for this style is a no brainer, especially considering the thickness and weight. Unfortunately the first tent they sent me was severely damaged so I had to refuse delivery. The new one should be here next Tuesday though 😁

    Got mine a couple weeks ago. The YKK zipper is indeed a feature. The fact you’re noticing “it’s just like any other zipper…” is because of the quality YKK zippers provide. They’re the OG, the “gold-standard” zipper and the quality is by far superior to lesser than zippers. Especially on a product like a all-season RTT. Trust me, we’re all gonna be happy with the longevity a YKK zipper provides-with proper maintenance. 🤓🤙🏼

    • @moreclips805
      @moreclips805  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I suppose I’m comparing it to the marine grade zippers I see on my fishing waders / float tube. I’m used to there being a resistance when opening / closing. That resistance is common on waterproof zippers, which I don’t find on this product.
      At any rate, looking forward to putting it to the test!

      My zipper failed on the first trip. 😢 once they get a bit of trail dust in them, they don't move anymore. Also zippers aren't designed to make 90 degree corners.

    • @joemamamia1751
      @joemamamia1751 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@user-ww3ot2sl3x Sorry to hear that. Dust def gonna bind that up, and zipper cleaner/lubricant is a necessity for the glovebox. I myself noticed in higher temps, the tonneau fabric slacks up a bit, to where there’s not enough tension to clear the back end, joining the zippers at the buckle. Little bit a lube (I used olive oil cause it’s all I had on hand on the trail), and a longer tie on the zipper allowed me more leverage to REALLY get it to clear that slack. Hopefully with proper maintenance it will be less problematic, but these high summer temps just removes the necessary rigidity of the tonneaus fabric.

      Have you ever had a concern that a branch might poke or rip a hole in the top? Or would you say its a tough enough material? @joemamamia1751

    • @joemamamia1751
      @joemamamia1751 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@kylebar724The tonneu cover is as rugged as they come. That said, I wouldn't go out of my way to NOT avoid the potential of limbs falling on, or driving through overgrown trails if I could otherwise prevent them. But the cover itself is as good as they come, tonneau-wise.

      I would recommend if you're under 6ft and don't go offroad on narrow trails with trees. It's fabric, so it's prone to punctures. Had mine a little over a year and it's holding up fairly well.
      Another thing to mention is the height of your roof rack. If it's not cab height, this tent won't fit in your bed. It's over 80 inches so you'll have overhang at the rear of your truck bed.

    • @DestinEmusic
      @DestinEmusic 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      yeah, I just measured this morning, and it would overhang about 9.5" cab side and 14" rear that's a shame. Thanks for the info very helpful vid. @@moreclips805

    I'm not sold on this tent yet. In all the videos I've seen, the quality seems subpar. I like that it's like but it also looks cheaply built. And the lack of overlap on the rain cover looks like a big deal. Has anyone taken this out in a downpour yet? And how does this hold up against driving rain on the freeway at 80 mph? Hardshells close right with gaskets. But this looks like your rain barrier when closed is a zipper.

    • @moreclips805
      @moreclips805  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have got confirmation from the company that the holes on the bottom of the frame are in fact drain holes, so that was great news. I have yet to mount it on my truck, but I’ll let you know on the freeway driving / water ingress once I install

    You get what you pay for. Added quality would push it over 3k. Those sewed edge defects on the cover would worry me. Other than that, it's a great tent for the price range. I'm 6'2" so it looks like it's too small for me. Is this measurement not correct? 78in L x 48in Great honest review.

    • @moreclips805
      @moreclips805  ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn’t recommend it. Any weight to the cover would likely warp it - but Don’t let that discourage you, enough thought into anything you could make it work.

    • @joeylujan3173
      @joeylujan3173 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A soft rack would probably work. The top is semi-rigid so it will flex some but I don't see why it wouldn't hold. You obviously wouldn't be able to open the tent with the boards attached, and if you figured out a way to, the top probably wouldn't support the weight.
