My mother died 10-27-24. She was a WWII bride; one of many who went through the uncertainty of war and the real prospect of death. This song brings home the dogged faith and optimism that so many from "the greatest generation" made a part of their very spirit then, and in many cases, for the rest of their lives. I plan to close the celebration of my Mother's life with this song because it captures her strong, loving character, forged in 101 years of life in this troubled world When I first heard this song, I thought of God's promised resurrection of the faithful Christians near the end of human history. Amen.

My Uncle told me as he was preparing for D-Day in the wet English training fields he would have his sandwich of corned beef and listen to Vera Lynn and it always raised his moral. Now in lockdown I find myself listening and singing with my wife Vera’s we meet again, and it gives me hope! My uncle sadly passed away a few years ago but whenever I listen to this song, he is next to me.
I just burst into tears when this video was sent to me a few moments ago. I was born in February 1943 just a few months before this was recorded. Vera instilled such hope and patriotism in all who heard her stirring songs and it makes me so sad to think that so many of those wonderful brave men and women singing along with Vera, would soon die defending the country from oppression and tyranny.

This song is so powerful, melancholy and sad because I can't help thinking of those who would not return to their loved ones. Very rarely does a tune bring a lump to my throat. But this one grabs at the heart and doesn't let go.
This is very moving for me,my dad was called up in 1940 and was in the RAF and was in London during the blitz. He then was shipped out with thousands of service men in 1942 to North Africa, he came back January 1946 and then he married mum with whom he had been writing to,she worked in a munitions factory.
This lady lent support to millions of Englishmen, and others, during some very dark days. Bless her for her efforts to raise the spirits, and toughen the resolve of those who listened to her music.
She'll be forgotten. When the generations have gone, and Gen Z, Gen A and Gen B are left, they won't even know who she was, I doubt some will even know the capital of their own country or what sex they are. Sad, but Britain will be an Islamic state one day most likely and all British history will be erased, like it never existed.
I'm glad that she didn't have to live through another war but at the same time our country could really use her inspiration and encouragement. She is still so dearly missed but she'll never be forgotten. RIP with your boys, our noble fallen heroes have their star back now they can all rest listening to Vera's beautiful voice
Pink Floyd originally brought me here and then when I heard this angelic voice.....I recognized her immediately. What's so touching is that everyone in the audience is joining in.
God Bless You Dame Vera Lynn♥...... and thank you for giving the world a song we will keep in our hearts and souls and sing along with you forever!!!!♥Rest in Peace in heaven above!!!♥
All those men who all sung with her make my heart break. May them rest in peace for eternity. Vera was the right kind of girl to sing this beautiful song. Later. my mum, who spent 4 years of her youth in a camp, used to sing this song when we were together. I was a little girl then but I knew she had lost the great love of her life during this horrible war.
Rest in peace Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, reunited you are with family and friends. Do the best wishes to your good friend Dame Vera Lynn. We will meet again.
It’s powerful because she was like the girl who lives next door, like a girlfriend or sister who the soldiers could easily relate to, wishing them good luck before they leave for the war.

I am not a Brit but of course I listened to her speech. And I noticed that too. That said Vera obviously had to put on a brave face singing this. She had a role in history to boost morale in trying times. But I think she was aware that a lot of those boys would have to sacrifice their lives.
I'm tearing up. This is beautiful. This song is nice, helped a lot of people and without it half the music today in Britain may not even exist. My grandparents have served in RAF. This could also be the last time those soldiers got out of war and had joy, before nearly millions of their untimely deaths.
She was quite a pretty lady back in the day. RIP Miss Vera Lynn! You were and will always will be irreplaceable. And I know that we will all meet again somewhere, some sunny day!
Just heard that the extraordinary Dame Vera Lynn has died. Rest in peace, lovely lady, a life well lived. Hope you are singing this with the lads in Heaven xxx
RIP Vera. To those very few that " dislike" this clip, shame on you! If it wasn't for these wonderful men and women none of us would be here today, Never mind jumping on the protest bandwagon.
It’s not fair to compare what these men and women went through to COVID. We get along living our lives with the conveniences of video and telephone calls as often as we like. But back then, as far as reuniting with a loved one, as the song goes “don’t know where, don’t know when,” blindly hoping and praying and waiting for the day they would step off of the ship, train, or plane home. My great-grandparents married in 1943 when this was recorded, only for my great-grandfather to go back overseas for another two years with the daily possibility of never returning. And despite it all, he earned a Bronze Star for saving the lives of three other men. It’s so very true when they say they were the Greatest, and I feel blessed to be able to see this incredibly emotional clip.
It astounds me that anyone would click dislike for something of such a profound historical context. I suppose some people just have a very limited knowledge of history.
I was just listening to a choir sing this song at the 2021 Remembrance Day ceremonies, and I had to look it up. Thanks for sharing this lovely version! So touching to see Vera Lynn singing for the troops! My dad didn't meet the physical requirements to fight overseas with the Canadian armed forces in WWII, but he "piloted" a Link Trainer, teaching aviation cadets how to fly. My mother also worked on the home front. My parents used to sing this song and other wartime ballads, so as a child I learned them all. This song has a new meaning for me now, as my husband passed away two years ago. I know we'll meet again. 🥲💔
Beautiful song, heard my grandpa listening to this song when I was a kid, besides the historical importance of the song, the uplifting it brings to whoever listens to it is timeless. Thank you Vera.

I'm only 61 but Vera Lynn ia one of my favorites. I read her book, what a great read. RIP Dame Vera, with love from Canada. 🙏🌹❤🇨🇦🌟
Posted today after the Queen used the phrase, "well meet again"
I am not a Brit but of course I listened to her speech. And I noticed that too. That said Vera obviously had to put on a brave face singing this. She had a role in history to boost morale in trying times. But I think she was aware that a lot of those boys would have to sacrifice their lives.
Ms. Lynn, we'll meet again.
Vera Lynn: The world has lost a gem!!! Rest in peace gracious lady!!!
Just heard that the extraordinary Dame Vera Lynn has died. Rest in peace, lovely lady, a life well lived. Hope you are singing this with the lads in Heaven xxx
Hello Maggie, How are you doing?
I’m 58 and I just heard this song yesterday on the news AFTER she died/FIVE STARS ⭐️
RIP Vera.
To those very few that " dislike" this clip, shame on you!
If it wasn't for these wonderful men and women none of us would be here today, Never mind jumping on the protest bandwagon.
Rest in peace sweet heart . We will all miss you . Thank you for all you did for the boys . What a voice . X
Goodbye Vera, till we meet again. 103. Wonderful life and thank you.
Our world needs something like this, today.
I love that song! What a neat lady and lovely voice. So happy to hear she is alive, and I pray doing well. WWII comes to mind with that lovely song!!
Amen Jacqui
Beautiful song, heard my grandpa listening to this song when I was a kid, besides the historical importance of the song, the uplifting it brings to whoever listens to it is timeless. Thank you Vera.
Heard this song during the outro cutscene of Forsaken.
Such sweet song during sweet times long gone
The UK should send this message of hope to the rest of the world - as we are united in a war against an invisible enemy.
"We WILL meet again." Please resend this wonderful song!
Played this song on ITV this morning.
Brought tears to my eyes.
A beautiful romantic song sung by a beautiful girl both inside and out with a beautiful voice.
How touching at the end of the song when all those brave young men in their lovely uniforms stood up and applauded her.❤❤

Thanks Helen, yes, it certainly brings a tear to my eyes too. Vera Lynn really kept spirits up of those separated by war - the 'Forces Sweetheart.'
Stay Safe x
@@robertp.wainman4094 Thank you Robert. You stay safe too.
I adore this song too. You can imagine two lovers meeting quite by chance in Leicester Square after the war and experiencing the joy of seeing one another again. We can all identify with this lovely song🥂🍾⚘⚘

What a lovely picture you paint Helen, I can picture it so clearly. The joyous chance reunion with the one you love amongst the crowds of Leicester Square - next the warmth of Lyons Corner House! x
I recall first hearing "We'll Meet Again" at the end of Kubrick's, "Dr. Strangelove......". I have loved Vera Lynn ever since.
Just lovely! Love her smile. Love her voice.
I’m 53, but I shed a tear this morning from hearing the News, knowing from history how much she did for the country during WW2, 103, she had a great life, but the UK will feel a massive hole without her, a wonderful woman, forever the force’s sweetheart
