Never too old Barbara. I am hoping you are still alive, I am praying for you Barb from Julie in Australia. Your dream will come true before you move from this Earth, to next place, all good. I think it's called, Heaven. I know it is called Heaven.
Unfortunately the song has not been available since the 1950s. It was from a live performance at a British airfield and there was a glitch in the recording and so it was't re-released. Thanks to the digital age I was able to remove the glitch and so now it sounds fine. Cheers on your impending wedding. There are plenty of wonderful songs available by Vera Lynn on CD and online that would be suitable for your special day. "A Nightengale sang in Berkeley Square" comes to mind.
Vera Lynn once again rose to serve the Country. Only to give hope against another foe called Covid. Her music was invoked to encourage a nation and the Commonwealth to Keep Calm and Carry On. I just had to look this up because it was my late parent's "special song" together. My mother played the piano in the living room, and everytime she played "When I grow too old too dream" my father would come running down the stairs every single time. He'd sit on the piano bench, put his arm around my mom and sing the song with her. I used to pray that I'd find that kind of love my parent's had
My late mother heard Linda Ronstadt sing this song. She told me that early in her marriage to Dad, this was their favorite song. They were married in '42. Dad was in the US Navy for the duration of the war. All of them went through so much. This song could have been the favorite of thousands of young couples.

I love this song and I love Vera Lynn. When I was a young 20 year old in the 1980s I met a 90 year old widow in my small home town. I was a mechanic and working on her car. Her husband had passed. She told me so many stories of when she was young, her life, her loves, so much.. she was just a beautiful person... she was young to me back then... she is long gone.. now I'm old.. Life is really .. well.. it is what it is.
This song and film makes me think of my mother’s cousin who was lost in the North Sea on October 31, 1944, just a few missions shy of going home for the birth of his first child. I can’t help but wonder what he would think if he were to return and see the state of things now. Love Vera Lynn and the songs she sang.

A beautiful tribute to all the brave souls who lost their lives defending their countries. Regardless of where they were from or what flag they were fighting for, all of those troops were someone's son or daughter, someone's sister or brother, someone's father, mother, husband, wife, friend. May they all rest in peace, and may their sacrifice never be forgotten. Lest we forget.

Hello Mary
My husband was in the USAAF and flew in WWII. He died six years ago after forty years of marriage. The song is perfect for this video. Thank you for bringing back memories of a good man. It made me cry, but good tears of gratitude. God bless our service men and woman.
God Bless your husband, and God bless you and your family, your husband is a true hero, forever will I be grateful for his service! I hope you are doing well and are in good health.
My nan used to sing this to me (amongst others) when I was 4. I always remember her fondly when I think of this song. Love to sing it myself and can't wait to sing it to my future children. Brilliant song.
A fine song for someone who survived the war years, and only a handful of memories. Powerful music from WW 2. Thank you. r.
