I made a comment in an earlier video about taping the reel seat to eliminate a mess. I should of watched this beforehand. Great job...you are so into detail. A lesson learned....
Where is based on technique and preference of the angler. Jerk bait and kayak rods usually 8-10" from the butt. Worm and cranks 10-12. Flippin 12-14. Balance the rod after the reel seat is set
I'm having a problem with knowing what size reel seat to buy i see size numbers 16-17 what do these numbers mean when you have to bild it up to make It fit?
Size 16 or 17 refers to the overall size of the reel seat. Almost all freshwater rods are size 16. The number you're concerned about is the ID, or inner diameter, which can be from 8 mm to 17 mm.
I’m new to your channel and have been watching and really enjoy your videos. I’m trying to learn how to build a rod and CRB kit is on the way. My question is, I live in Indiana and we really don’t have big water or big boats, mainly my interest is in Bass large and small mouth, Panfish, ect builds. Typically fishing creeks, streams and smaller lakes we don’t use 7’+ rods. Looking at places to buy blanks and grips, I’m having trouble finding 6’, 6’6” fast, light action to medium light action for either spinning or spincasting builds. Any suggestions on where to look? Thanks!!!
Northforkcomposites.com Specifically the SJ 703-1 X-ray, medium light, extra fast. This is the blank you are looking for! You will have to cut it down to your preferred length but that is easily done and I just released a video last week showing how to do it.

All good Bob. The reason behind this series was to get into the details I forgot to merion in previous videos.
Very nice !! I bought a VSS fuji spinnig handle kit , there are 2 solid arbors , do you have any video on how tu install them ?
If they are the high density foam, you glue one of them into the reel seat and let it set. Then ream and install like you would a grip.
@@fdxcustomrods thank you for answer , should I trim them ?
Trim to fit if necessary
plenty of info on how
my question is where
any tips on reel seat "location" to ensure balance?

Lookin good!
👍
can you tell me why I get a bleed through of the rod blank when wrapping my guides. Am I getting the thread to tight so they can't slide together?
Send me a pic to fdxcustomsrods@gmail.com

@@fdxcustomrods thanks that helps out a lot. Is there any books that you would recommend I buy or just watch youtube and read up on the internet?

@@fdxcustomrods Thank you!
Can you use a epoxy paste or finish?
You can use paste, but I wouldn't use thread finish.
@@fdxcustomrods okay I thought that was fine
Is it spline or spine
Yes. I have always heard both. I also hear strong side. Call it whatever you want, just make sure you do it.😀
