And because we love the LORD with all our heart, soul, mind = we still follow His 10 commandments. We don't follow them to be saved, we follow them because we're saved! 🙌🏻🥳🥰

As someone who used to follow the wrong doctrines and became so bound by a religious spirit that it took God to literally fight to set me free, this is TRUE! The enemy is blinding so many eyes with this Jesus + gospel and so many people are being deceived into leaning on themselves for their salvation. Walk in the Spirit and follow Christ.

I am so glad reading the comments! Amen Amen! YES! We have to keep the holy commandments, and the Sabbath is holy for eternity. Love your neighbourd like yourself and love God = a resume of the 10 commandments. The catholic church changed our only worship day (saturday the 7th day of the week, our resting day with the Lord), to a day that God didnt choose, man chose it (you can google it, its a known, historical, fact). If we love God we will keep his holy commandments because he gave them to us to protect us. I am not saying it's easy but we can and will with the help of the holy spirit. I pray you guys will look deeper into it for it is trully a blessing. God bless you

Yeshua Jesus did not come to “change” the law or make it “go away”. He came to fulfill the law and help us clearly see that the Torah is all about Him. Yeshua said “ For if you really believed Moses, you would believe Me; because he wrote about Me. But if you don’t believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say?” John 5:46-47. God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. He does not change. And Yeshua said “I and my Father are One” . Yeshua Jesus would not come to void what His Father spoke and firmly established . He made us realize how it all points to Him! (The Lamb at Passover is just one example out of numerous others) therefore what God said in the Old Testament (Torah) is still valid to this day. We have just fallen away as a body
(Church) and forgotten who we really are. We’ve taken on traditions of man and forgotten The God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob. Yeshua came to teach us to do as He did. And He followed the law because He IS the Law. Shalom to you and blessings.

When I said "Jesus changed everything” I am meaning that we are no longer obligated to follow the law because of the finished work He has already done on the cross. Jesus did not literally change the law but after His death and resurrection He changed how we worship and how we relate to God the Father. We now have a NEW mediator to restore our relationship with God.

✝️ When did Jesus take away the Old Testament Laws? I missed that in Scripture?? Honestly, what Chapter, verses, etc.? Thx so much! 🙂

Great question! Here are some scriptures we can turn to:
      - In Mark 7:18-19 Jesus shares with His disciples that all foods are clean
      - In Acts 10:9-16 God declares to Peter that any food that was previously UNCLEAN is now CLEAN
      - Hebrews 10:1-18 and Hebrews 7:26-27 shows that Jesus is the ONCE and FOR ALL Sacrifice - meaning that we are no longer obligated to continue to follow the OT sacrificial laws (if we did then what was Jesus' death sufficient for?)
      - Hebrews 10:19 says, we now "have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus” and this is INCREDIBLE because in the Old Testament law this is completely forbidden except for the high priest!
A quote from Timothy Keller: "the coming of Christ changed how we worship, but not how we live. The moral law outlines God’s own character - his integrity, love and faithfulness. Old Testament commandments about loving our neighbor, caring for the poor, being generous with our possessions and being committed to family still apply. The New Testament continues to forbid killing and adultery, and the sexual ethic of the Old Testament is restated throughout the New Testament."
Yes - Jesus came to FUFILL the law for us because we in ourselves could not! But we are still to love God and love people as Jesus commands in Mark 12:30-31: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’[ 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’There is no commandment greater than these.”
      - Matt. 5:17 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the "Law" or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them."
We do this NOT for our salvation but to GLORIFY GOD:
      Galatians 2:16
"nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified."

@@coffeeandbibletime In Mark 7, He is saying that all food is clean. What does God consider food? Leviticus 11 tells us. Mark 7 in context is about eating with unwashed hands, not about which animals are clean and unclean. And in Acts 10, the context is that Jews and Gentiles can both come to Jesus. It has nothing to do with actual animals. If it did, I’m sure we would read about Peter telling everyone how God showed them that they can eat all meat, but he didn’t. He told people that God showed him that they shouldn’t call the Gentiles unclean

@@rhoda4621 All food is clean but pork isn’t food. In Leviticus 11, God tells us what food is and isn’t. It’s just like eating a dog or cat. We know those aren’t food and neither are the animals God outlines in His word. Eating unclean meat is an abomination and we are defiled by it. It doesn’t say why certain meat is unclean, but scientifically, they are scavengers and eat dead animals. Shellfish and shrimp are bottom feeders and eat scum. Shrimp has mercury in it as well. It’s not ok to eat just because we cook it and try to get all the toxins out. God says NOT to eat them or even touch their carcass if we can help it. So shouldn’t be obey? He gives us instructions to set us apart from the world. To make us holy. And the dietary instructions are included. Think of this also….unclean meat wasn’t allowed into the Temple. Today, we are the Temple of the Holy Spirit. Why would it be ok to consume unclean meat into our body, where the Holy Spirit resides?

The Catholic Church combined the Sabbath and the Lord’s Day (Resurrection Day) into a single day. The biblical sabbath is on Saturday, whereas Jesus rose from the dead on Sunday morning. Church services are held on Sunday because they determined worship should be held on Resurrection Day. It’s not wrong to observe the combined Sabbath/Lord’s Day, but they were originally separate days. Therefore, I rest on Saturday and worship with my church on Sunday. We can gather and worship the Lord on any day of the week, but I find a lot of joy in setting aside one day to rest in the Lord and another day to celebrate His resurrection. The only rule that was abolished was the ceremonial laws (feasts, priesthood, sacrifice, etc ...) because Jesus has fulfilled the work already on the cross. But all the commands from old testament are still valid and complement perfectly the new testament commands. Follower of Christ are ought to be set apart and follow the commands to live clean and holy life just as people from the old testament.
Pork is unclean animal. We should read the whole chapter to understand the context (Mar 7: 18-19) It doesn't talk about food, even Peter knew that it was unclean to eat it so he said that, plus he didn't eat it even in his vision, later on he understood it was about the gentiles and jews considered clean and unclean people and it tells how God doesn't discriminate people. It was not about food at all. You may check this YT link as well for more explanation backed up with bible verse : th-cam.com/video/NAxT0fYdGP4/w-d-xo.html

So many of the comments below seem to come from people who believe Christians are ought to obey the OT laws (specifically the 10 commandments). I also had the same belief as a former Seventh Day Adventist. I would say the same arguments in favor of keep the 10 commandments and I genuinely didn’t understand why other Christians didn’t keep the 4th one..
But only when I started reading what the new testament says about the old one, I could see that new covenant believers are no longer bound to the 10 commandments and the rest of the OT laws. I would highly recommend reading Galatians (especially chapters 3 and 4), Romans 7:1-6, Hebrews 8.
The Bible says that going back to the old covenant laws is spiritual adulatory - we can’t embrace Jesus and the law at the same time. Jesus came to fulfill the law and bring something better. We no longer have to live under the bondage of keeping OT laws but instead walk in the Spirit. OT Jews did not have Holy Spirit living in them like New Covenant believers do. Jesus’s death and resurrection changed everything - and we can rejoice in that. ☺️
Regarding the observance of Sabbath - Romans 14:1-6. We have freedom to observe a day for the Lord but saying that if someone doesn’t keep the Sabbath, they will receive the mark of the beast (in Revelation) is simply not in the Bible. Unbelievers will receive the mark of the beast but not Christians going to church on Sunday. And just to note - I don’t believe I’m keeping Sunday by going to church in that day 🙂 It’s simply a day when Jesus was resurrected and when believers gather to worship. It’s not a new Sabbath or changed from Saturday to Sunday.
Colossians 2:16-17 says that “Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.” These are a shadow but the reality is found in Christ - by holding onto the shadows, we miss the real thing.

of course I’m not saying that we can murder, lie, or steal.. As Ashley referred to Matthew 22 we are to love God and others - this looks so much more than just 10 commandments. For the New Covenant believers, there are guidelines all over the New Testament books about how to live and love God and others. Can for example being patient or self-controlled be fully explained within the 10 commandments? It is not just don’t muder or don’t steal, it’s so much more - in our every day lives when we are led by the Holy Spirit, He tells us when and how to be patient and self-controlled. It’s all the process of santification and cannot be summarized into 10 commandments. Holy Spirit convicts us and leads us how to live a holy life - what we need to do is to abide in Jesus by reading His word. He renews our mind, our desires, our behaviour. It is a mystery how God works in a believer but He does. We can see it in the fruit of that person which is so much more than just law keeping.
I’ve heard somewhere that legalism is a short cut to holiness and it really is.. As an SDA I believed that by keeping the 10 commandments I was pleasing God, but Jesus calls us to a higher level of morality. Not just don’t kill but don’t be angry at your brother. Jesus Himself said: “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell. “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”
      ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭21‬-‭22‬, ‭27‬-‭28‬
This complete change of heart is not possible by keeping the 10, only by the divine power of Spirit Himself.

I am a former SDA as well and I'm so happy to see your comment. Thank you for sharing this. In addition to the texts you mentioned regarding the Sabbath, I'd love to add Hebrews 4 that give us a fuller meaning of Sabbath in the new covenant as resting in the finished work of Christ on the cross. Verses 9-11 say "There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience." The Sabbath is so much more than just keeping a day and we have the liberty to choose whatever day we worship in Christ. If we seek to be saved by keeping the sabbath by striving to keep any other OT laws we have missed the point (Galatians 5). The purpose of the law was to point us to Christ . Galatians 3:24-26 "So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith."

I just want to clarify for anyone who may not understand. The Bible says in 1 John 3:23 that His commandment is to believe on Jesus and follow what he tells us. Not to keep the old covenant law.
22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. 24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. - 1 John 3:22-24

@@TeeSoFree yes agreed! The old covenant laws are different from the commandments that Jesus said he didn’t come to do away with! Do not kill is a commandment that isn’t done away with do not covet is a commandment that isn’t done away with as well as sabbath which is part of the commandments not the old covenant laws. So the commandments hang on two which is love the Lord your God and love you neighbour and the Ten Commandments show us practically what that looks like! It’s not keeping them for salvation but from salvation. Because we are saved we have a heart of flesh and can now keep the commandments out of love and not from a place of trying to get salvation. Salvation is only through Yeshua!

@@TeeSoFree Yes, Jesus is the only way to the Father. We are saved through Him and not our works, but the definition of sin is the transgression of the law (1 John 3:4). The law tells us what sin is and when we disobey His instructions, we are sinning. But we show God that we love Him by keeping His commandments (John 15). Obedience is the fruit of our salvation, not the root. Once we are saved and filled with the Holy Spirit, He will give us a new heart and cause us to want to obey the Fathers Laws. If you read further in 1 John 3:22-24 it will tell you that the commandment of God we are told to follow is to believe on the name of Jesus and love one another. The Bible also says that the law is fulfilled in one thing: love. We are to believe in Jesus Christ alone for our salvation, and the Holy Spirit gives us the power to follow the command to love. The love that God requires us to have for one another can only come through His Spirit. I pray that God will give you more understanding as He has given me. The reading of the old covenant is blinding many people's minds to the truth. It tells us this in 2 Corinthians 3. We are to follow the Holy Spirit, not the letter of the law. God bless you. No where in Scripture does it say the Old Covenant is abolished. Jesus spoke about keeping the Commandments from Exodus 20. 1John5 tells us His Commandments are not burdensome and if we love Him, we keep His laws-His Commandments. And Paul in Acts 21:24 we see Paul keeping the law. Romans 7:12 says the Law is holy, just and good. The law is necessary to enlighten our insufficiency, and deficiency. It exposes our imperfections and proves to us how unable we are to meet God's standards. We see how desperately we need our Savior Jesus. We no longer have need for the Ceremonial laws-Jesus fulfilled them. But if you're going to ignore God's law, you in effect are referring to removing the first 5 books of the Bible -The Torah. Good luck with that.

But the Biblical feasts from Levitivus 23. In a New Testament way? And baptism? Is that still in force? And the Sabbath? That was the fourth commandment of the 10 commandments. I mean the Sabbath on Saturday. Not what the Church has made of it by shifting it to Sunday. I really struggle with these things. Paul is not clear. He seems to contradict himself.

26 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. 28 Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”[a] and again, “The Lord will judge his people.”[b] 31 It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

I love you guys and I been watching you for years but I think I may have to disagree with you on this one. In a previous comment you referred to Acts 10 as OK to eat pork, But that is not what Acts 10 is about, its about God telling Peter that Gentiles are clean. Read the whole chapter, its about Cornelius. He was a gentile who followed Gods law. Righteous in God's sight (because he followed Gods law). He told Cornelius to send 2 ppl to where Peter was staying. Peter has the vision of animals on a sheet. God told him to eat. Now Peter will no way eat because he KNEW that God already said not to eat. When Jesus was on earth he did not teach against the law. He did not teach to eat unclean meat. So this left Peter confused. See a Jew would NEVER go into a Gentiles Home. No way. It was unclean. Never. So when they knocked at his door God told Peter to go with them. Can you imagine? How scared, confused Peter must have been. He head game going on in his head on his way there...wow. When he gets to Cornelius' house he sees that Cornelius is following Gods law and is righteous and is not a Jew. Then He know...Gentiles are accepted by God also. Its sad because its one of the most amazing stories about Gentiles being included in the kingdom and we reduced it to meat.
If sin is transgression of the law, what law are they talking about? Gods law. Its a slippery slope because people can easily replace Jesus' sacrifice with the law. But we cant do the law. Thats why Jesus came - NOT TO SAVE US FROM THE LAW - PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT. ITS TO SAVE US FROM THE curse OF THE LAW. DEATH.
I follow Jesus and I do my very best to follow Torah. But I suck at it sometimes. I do sabbath on Friday to Saturday and I had to LEARN to rest and its amazing because God shows up and shows out with me. Its personal and intimate. I also do the feasts which are amazing and fun and God comes and spends time with me. More than any other time. They are special. Most of the law is pretty easy to follow but people get hung up on sabbath and feasts and meat. Doesnt that sound crazy? This is not a salvation issue at all. Nope. Nada. Its a deeper relationship with God.
We dont have to follow Torah. We get to. Thank you Jesus because now there is no Jew and no Gentile. We are One in Messiah. God is still the same tho...today, yesterday and forever. XOXO

God is the same today, tomorrow, and always! I think people are missing the point! The laws in the old Testament were meant to be followed in order for men/sinners to be cleansed and saved from sin/death! Jesus came and paid the sin for us! Jesus followed the OT laws, while ministering, because he was perfectly clean from sin! Once He died he took away the need to follow the old rituals because we are now clean! We can not earn our way into heaven! We have to truly believe that Jesus is our savior and paid all our debt! We are to find rest in Jesus everyday! Jesus is our Sabbath everyday!

It's the Old & New "Testament", not old & new "Covenant".
The New Testament is the enhancement of the Old Testament - Fulfillment of the Old Testament. (Tanak & Torah)
    Tanak=Old Testament
    Torah=First 5 books of Bible.
Torah-means teaching, also translated = "Law".
    JESUS said ... in
    Matt. 5:17
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the "Law" or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them."
The ceremonial laws will be fulfilled when Jesus comes back at the Temple. If I understand it correctly.

John 14:15-17 If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever- the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. Not according to scripture; Because if you follow the Mosaic law that God gave to the Israelites and that Jesus fulfilled on the cross; then Christ died in vain. Gal. 2:21 …if righteousness come by the law then Christ died in vain. John 1:17 the law was given by Moses but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. Romans 6:14 …for we are not under the law but under grace. And there are so many more scriptures that prove we are not to follow a law that was given to the Israelites. But that doesn’t take away the fact that Jesus is our example and we are to live our lives or behave in a godly manner. Romans 15:4 says what was written before was written for our learning not our living. Also Hebrews 7-10 explains how Jesus Christ came and brought in a new covenant/ testament. Good question

I hate to say it, but for me personally, the New Testament is SO much easier for me to understand and comprehend compared to the old testament. Old Testament goes so far over my head sometimes :/

Before Torah was given, God told Noah in Genisis 9:2 "All the animals of the earth, all the birds of the sky, all the small animals that scurry along the ground, and all the fish in the sea will look on you with fear and terror. I have placed them in your power. I have given them to you for food, just as I have given you grain and vegetables"

First of all, there are 7 covenants, not only 2. Second of all, you speak about Israel like this is not for us, but if we accept Jesus, we are Israel (Galatians 3:26-29). When Jesus came, nothing changed, accept He paid for transgressing the law.
The principle from Old and New Testament never changed. Salvation can only come from faith, it was never intended otherwise. But by keeping the commandments we declare that He is our God (Deuteronomy 26:17-18). The reason for the commandments is to set ourselves apart for God, as He delivered us from Egypt (from sin). Keeping the commandments should be our response to his grace. In Deuteronomy 6:20-21 God explains us that we keep the feasts (and the commandments) to show the rest of the world He saved us! Rejecting the law is rejecting God and walking in the flesh (Romans 8:7). The law reveals the character of God and is a great gift, it is given to give us benefit (Deuteronomy 5:29).
Isaiah already prophesied that one day we would reject Gods law which is the entire Torah (Isaiah 30:8-9). Matthew 22 is a literal quotation from Deuteronomy 30:10. Loving God with all your heart means keeping the entire Torah. Read also Deuteronomy 5:29.
Don't think about the Torah like "all these rules". If we really find out who God is from Torah, because he is revealed in Torah (John 5:46), we would fall in love with Torah. Read Psalm 119.
His work is not finished on the cross. He still needs to come back and eliminate sin (which is transgression of the law).
Even Jesus warned us that if we not obey the law (being lawless) He will say He never knew us (Matthew 7:21-23). And how to we establish that He is our God? Keeping His commandments (Deuteronomy 26:17-18)
Jesus made the law complete, same word is used with someone filled with the holy Spirit. If someone if filled with the Holy Spirit, he still needs the holy Spirit, but if Jesus fulfilled the law, we don't need the law anymore?
Jesus is our example. We should walk as He walked (1 John 2:6). If He is keeping the law, and we are not keeping it, we are not walked as He did, we are rejecting Him.
If you reject the law if you don't know Jesus, you would die. If you still reject the law after Gods grace, it is even worse (Hebrews 10:28)
In paradise the serpent (devil) questioned the authority of God and assured us we would not die (God says, if you sin, you will die). Now the devil tries to convince us we don't need to listen to God (His law), because we won't die. Do you believe the scripture of the serpent?

I believe in not eating pork and still observing the true Saturday Sabbath. I see no place in the New Testament that says to stop these things, unless I am misunderstanding things, but I don't see how.

It's sad you don't realize that your telling people to disobey their Creator while at the same time saying he is your God.

It is not wrong to cut your hair. It is not wrong to wear pants or makeup. That is legalism (strict adherence to laws and rules). We live in the grace of God who came to set us free! We are to love God and love our neighbors through the grace of Jesus Christ.

I am currently a Pentecostal and I follow this not cutting hair, no makeup or pants etc, and I do not see it as legalism. I see it as trying to live a holy life apart from the things of this world to get closer to God, because I do not follow a religion but a relationship with God. The word says that without holiness and peace with all, it is impossible to please God and that we must not conform to this world. How can I be different if I look just like every other person here who wears pants and makeup etc. BUT everyone has their own relationship with God and serves Him in their own way, so how I serve Him may not look like how others serve Him. My only advice is to pray, and if you feel guilty about it that might be the Holy Spirit convicting you because He is the one that guides us. My Pastors always tell me that the more I let go of things in this world, the closer I will get to God and I truly do see this in my life. He says we must deny ourselves daily and pick up our cross and follow Him. God bless you my sisters, we are all just trying to serve a holy and righteous God and we must allow the Holy Spirit to guide us. 💜

Modern christianity is false. Here's why:
Biblical redemption was ONLY from the curse of the old covenant law.
That law was ONLY given to old Covenant Israel and has not existed for nearly two thousand years.
No one alive today was ever under that law or its curse.
The law was never your schoolmaster.
You were not kept under the law.
Did Christ redeem you from the curse of the law that Paul is referring to in Galatians 3? Impossible.

Jesus came so that we don’t have to be under the bondage of the OT laws! The Bible says the New covenant is better than the old one and we should not go back to it. The old covenant was simply not sufficient - we couldn’t make our selves clean and holy through obeying the law. Only through Jesus’s sacrifice are we made clean and redeemed. :)

Please study Paul’s letters and the Gospel message. We are unable in our flesh to follow the Law perfectly. Jesus’ perfect life was given on our account when we believed. We now serve in the way of the Spirit, not the written Law. Which means we obey commands which show God’s character, but we don’t have to strive to obey the ceremonial commands.
